Such a cosy guesthouse!!. When I chose Eric the red house online, it was because I was tired of hostels, but at the same time, I had student budget. After four nights, I can say that it is an ideal host for solo travellers who love privacy, silence and good but not excessive facilities. The staff is so friendly; the breakfast is enough, the place is clean. I would come back to this host on my next trip to Iceland
Everything! We loved the cat, the great breakfast with very good salmon, Icelandic cheese and porridge, the authentic Iceland showersmell ;)... Special thanks to Janek for the great tip to see "fly over Iceland". It is worth it! And of course for preparing a lunch for the departure-day. :)) The guesthouse is next to the big church, bus station 8, a good stop to be picked up.
It was a fantastic location, right next to the church on the hill so you could never get lost! A few minutes walk to the main streets of the city with loads of food options for vegans! Breakfast at guesthouse catered well for vegans too with homemade bread, jams, peanut butter and plenty of fruit. Our room was functional but very comfortable and we slept really well.
Only downside was it was hard to get somebody to come to the front door. Not sure if bell was working properly
Loved the location, breakfast and warm welcome
Room was a little cold. The extra blanket helped.
