When you stay at Château de Mathod in Mathod, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Orbe Castle and Swiss Reformed Church of Notre-Dame. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Wonderful stay in a beautiful castle with a very nice garden... we couldn’t have been happier there. If you worry that Mathod is quite a small village - there is an amazing restaurant right across the street, “Bras d’Or”. Breakfast was also incredible - thank you for everything!
Cons: Leaving this beautiful place
Pros: We had really relaxing time with jakuzi, spa and also fun time. Really recommended for couples. Suggestion: one hour for using spa may be free?
Pros: Enchanting structure in the countryside between Lake of Geneva and Lake of Neuchatel. Really quiet and relaxing with all the comfort you need. Yannick is such a great host, everything perfect.
Pros: The highlight was the spa, but the room is also very nice and the breakfast was great!
Cons: Nothing to dislike!
Pros: Chateau de Mathod is much more than an accommodation. Staying in suite Louis Rivier was a journey in itself encompassing history, art, architecture and spectacular nature. The suite is decorated with Rivier's painting but does not lack modernity in the kitchen and bathroom amenities. Spa and a swimming pool are on the site. The suite has access to a private garden where Sophie, the lady in charge, served us breakfast with home-made, bio products. She even made sure we had gluten and lactose-free options. We are very grateful for the marmelade, thank you Sophie! Tranquility of the garden and the entire property was blissful. There are several thematic parks at the Chateau inclusive of 200 hundred year old trees. Cosmetics offered at the Chateau are also made of seasonal plants. There are two restaurants in Mathod, but Yverdon - some 10 minutes drive - has a variety of food choices. Chateau de Mathod was a beautiful experience and we will definitely go back.
Pros: Yes the croissants were wonderful and fresh, as was the bread and cheese and also home made preserves. Yannick was an excellent host, very informative and hospitable, we were luck to find this gem.
Pros: A secluded, quiet and charming residence near Yiverdon. The suite was very spacious. Spotlessly clean. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was ample and tasty, with own ecological produce offered. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed every minute.
Cons: IWe liked everything there. It is a one suite bed and breakfast residence. One needs a car to move around.
Pros: A small town near Yverdon and close drive to really nice walks and views . Great for a getaway - quiet , clean and breakfast was great. The room is really cute and grounds are very peaceful.
Cons: We really enjoyed our stay - there was some noise from upstairs when we were resting but we called and it went quieted quickly .
Pros: Privacy and enclosed gardens. Welcoming and attentive reception and service throughout the stay. Separate kitchen. Excellent spa facilities.
Jurabelle is located in La Côte-aux-Fées. Free WiFi access is available. Featuring bathrobes, private bathroom also comes with free toiletries. Extras include bed linen. At Jurabelle you will find a garden and a terrace. Other facilities offered at the property include a shared lounge, a games room and ski storage. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including skiing, cycling and hiking. The property offers free parking. Geneva International Airport is 77 km away.
Pros: Amazing welcome by Othmar, and the common spaces were comfy, well-lit and inviting. Breakfast was copious, and featured lots of local cheeses, sausages and breads: yum!
Cons: The rooms were not particularly large, nor well-appointed (no real place for our clothing, e.g., though we managed with a kind of glass bookcase & the window well). I would have opted for one fewer room on the second floor, but with at least two of them with a small ensuite BR--I'm sure we're not alone in being ready to pay a little more for privacy.
Pros: The B&B is in a rustic, yet modernized, chalet. The host was fantastic, and the continental breakfast was the best I've had in many trips.
Pros: Very delicious and rich breakfast.
Pros: One of the best B&Bs I have ever been to. Perfection & creativity in EVERY part and every detail of the house. Lovely, local food. A very warm and caring atmosphere!
The hotel has 44 rooms, junior suites with period features. The restaurant "Belle Epoque" proposes a modern twist on regional dishes. The perfect place for events, the hotel has 4 fully equipped conference rooms, from 35 to 160 m2, as well as a newly built terrace affords exceptional panoramic views. A place to relax, a heated swimming pool available to guests.
Pros: Nice view, great nature around, sunrise and sunset, quiet and peacefull.
Cons: Not well maintained, too expensive for the relatively bad comfort, terrible breakfast buffet (everything was missing, from good to plates).
Pros: Half of the rooms have a beautiful view to the valley, friendly staff
Cons: The hotel is relatively old, beds not so comfortable, dinner took forever, mediocre food that was a bit too expensive. I would not come back
Pros: Quite room for a comfortable sleep and stay.
Cons: A double bed is preferrable than two single beds for a single person in a room.
Pros: The hotel decor is a little dated but this is clearly made up with the fantastic views of Mont Blanc from this hotel. The hotel is also very close (,100m) away from Rasses Ski lifts so excellent for skiing in winter or hiking in summer.
Pros: The restaurant is great but has not enough capacity to serve all guests. We had dinner only once here. The view is amazing. Nice Spa area... Great spot to explore the Jura. Will return
Cons: The Hotel is 3,5km from the next train station. Trains from Yverdon arrive there every 30min. Somewhat a bus operates but only on a hourly basis and the bus has to be prebooked by phone. We walked to the hotel. It's kind of surprising this is not managed. I would expect to call reception and everything works then... It didn't. At breakfast there is nobody serving coffee. Everybody is queuing in front of a coffee machine... Bistro is very basic
Cons: Room very old. Breakfast very cheap quality
Pros: Location and view Very Friendly staff
Cons: Unfortunately too low to have snow early in the season
Pros: The location of the hotel and the gorgeous view. When there are no clouds you can see both lakes below and the lovely area around the hotel. The room was comfortable and the bed and shower as well.
Cons: The hotel is kind of a "nice old lady" with a history and fairly well taken care of, although not really updated. Dinner was mediocre for the price charged and for a hotel who wants to cater to the international traveler one could expect the staff to speak at least some English. Only one waiter spoke English and we were dependent on him whenever he was available and not taking care of his own tables! This prolonged our time at dinner. The breakfast buffet was a poor display of food for a 3-star hotel in Europe. There were no croissants, no rolls only two half loafs of the local bread, meager selection of marmalades and jams. English or other breakfast teas we had to ask the attendant who wasn't too interested in helping the guests with their requests for tea or croissants! The price vs. service relationship in this hotel is indeed out of balance! Although advertising non-smoking rooms, the smokers still have the upper hand smoking on the balconies around and below and above yours - in other words - forget about the fresh morning air - it's heavily filled with nicotine and tar from your friendly neighbors!
Pros: This is a truly grand relic, think 'Overlook' in the Shining but fortunately not run by a couple with a young son. The pool, fitness area is great. The room fantastic, comfortable, spacious and quiet with great views. The Bistrot was very good and the service there was relaxed and the food was staple expert Swiss fare well done. In summer I guess the tennis court, outdoor mega chess and mini golf would be great. Looking at the black and white photos and the remaining art deco fittings this was indeed a grand hotel frequented by Charles Aznavour and the like...
Cons: Surprisingly cold front of house. Often a hello or goodbye not reciprocated. The breakfast was not good at all. The bread and coffee were OK but the selection in the buffet unimaginative, scraps of meat, small pots of warm yoghurt, reconstituted OJ, old fruit. No-one on hand supervising these. im sure, apart from the bread that the food was the same on Monday as on Sunday morning.

Conference rooms are at guests' disposal. Secure storage for bicycles and skis is provided free of charge. Free private parking is possible on site or nearby. Yverdon-les-Bains and the Lake Neuchâtel are a 20-minute drive from the hotel. The SwissMobile Hiking and Cycling Trails can be accessed right outside. Pros: Good breakfast. Quiet and good location. Slept well and the room was spacious.
Cons: Rooms and restaurant a little pricey and the place lacked any atmosphere but maybe this be different when busier. Bathroom was quite basic.
Pros: Friendly nice staff, and the dinner was lovely.
Cons: No drinking water or tea / coffee in the room.
Pros: Everything. Clean and well-appointed room. Parking. Location as starting point for hiking to le Chasseron. The personnel is very kind and helpful. Good dinner and breakfast.
Cons: That we couldn't stay longer.
Pros: Loved the quaintness and the history! The petit dejeuner was excellent!
Cons: Restaurant choices for allergies not so good
Pros: Nice view from the window. The bed was so soft and comfy!
Pros: Really friendly staff, good simple breakfast and a great spacious room. Just great, would definitely recommend it to friends and family
Cons: The bed wasn’t that comfortable
Pros: A wonderful discovery! Very friendly and welcoming hosts who enjoy meeting their guests. We were cooked an excellent evening meal and we sat around chatting till late in the evening, finding out each other's life stories! You do need to like animals as they had two dogs and four cats. We shall also return and hope to meet their five donkeys (which you can borrow to go on treks).
Pros: Friendly hosts, good coffee, cute cats and donkeys!
Cons: 3rd bed in the triple room was a small fold-out, not really comparable to the proper double bed. Might be difficult for people with reduced mobility.
Pros: Clean rooms with very comfortable beds and all you might need (kettle, extra sheets, etc). There are lots of books and dvds. Free supply of different types of tea (coffee outside breakfast costs 1chf). Bathroom has a bathtub and a smart shower. All in all, somewhat well organized and good value for the money. If only it weren't for the following bad points ...
Cons: Judging by the other reviews raving about the hosts being so friendly and warm, I think we were really unlucky. Our experience was completely different: Flo & Pierre don't really have an idea of what it means to be a warm host. They both acted cold and distant, Flo actually never smiled with Pierre a bit more pleasant. And since the house is shared between the guests and the hosts, is really easy to feel uncomfortable. But as this might be subjective, here are some strange happenings: - Flo always goes trough the house and puts back objects in the exact, precomputed location: this pillow goes there, this chair sits exactly over here. With the guests actually there, trying to relax. - You always need to ask, even for the simplest of things, they never come to you with a "would you like to .. ?" - We opted for one dinner to be cooked by them. Pierre kindly said he can prepare some trout for us, just that we need to decide how many portions. Nice! We counted 4 portions and the 5th person was not into fish so I went and asked if the 5th option could be a steak. Flo quickly told me we cannot chose the menu at all (?!) but Pierre said he knew we want fish and it's ok and we settled for the 5th person to enjoy the vegetarian garnishing. Goodish. Then, the day of the dinner, around 3-4PM, just after we eat our own food (and they saw that), Pierre told us dinner will be ready at 6:30PM. No question asked, it'a given. We politely asked if 8PM should work and he said he's house is no restaurant and it's 6:30PM take it or leave it. We left it. I'll stop here, there's no point in remembering anymore of this. I'll assume we caught them in a bad moment. But, objectively fyi: - breakfast is light: there is milk, juice, some marmalade, 2 types of honey, sugar, butter, one fresh baguette and one sweet bread. There is coffee from a DeLonghi machine and lots of types of tea.
Pros: Very nice owner with excellence breakfast.
Cons: They use Buddha sign and stamp for decorate such bathroom curtain, Blanket , bed sheet, that is so fragile for who are Buddhism .
Pros: No traffic - countryside - farm animals - wonderful breakfast - very polite landlords.
Cons: The WiFi in the bedroom
Pros: Lovely and friendly owners Free parking Quiet and peaceful place Great breakfast Great coffee
Cons: Very sad to leave
Pros: The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and we loved their pets, the 2 dogs and 4 cats and the donkeys! It has a very homely feel.
Cons: The bed though big was not very comfy. Also there was a lot of dust around the place. It was a bit far out of the town of Yverdon-les-bains with not a lot of regular public transport available.
Pros: Very friendly owners, tranquil surroundings, comfortable bed
Pros: The coffee was excellent and there was an impressive variety of teas. We loved the house and garden and the friendly atmosphere.
Cons: The narrow staircase up to the bathroom makes the property not really suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

Pros: I liked the Chinese food for supper.

Cons: Sadly the restaurant was closed because of its weekly closing day.
