A unique retreat to enhance wellness through a connection to a mystical cloud forest. Costa Ricas rural traditions are highlighted through ecoadventures and cultural interactions with local communities. Suites & Private Villas offer amenities like cloud-comfort beds, private outdoor whirlpool, and a deck with rocking chairs. Cuisine features fresh ingredients, many sourced from the onsite organic mini-farm. Surrounded by waterfalls of storybook beauty. Dont miss its relaxing Esencia Spa.
Pros: The setting The property, rooms The bar
Cons: To commercial on pushing the sales of wine, premium spirits... Quietness of the room: our fire alarm was beeping every 2min during the night to indicate low battery. After mentioning this, the following night again!! Also the hottub pump of the nextdoor cabin was making noisy and disturbing at night (they call it El Silencio!!)
Pros: Everything, even in detail, is so sophisticated, friendly, beautiful, peaceful, comfortable. Big rooms, hummingbirds everywhere, friendly staff and so on. Even better than paradise.
Pros: Stunning views
Cons: Extremely remote and overpriced even for US standards
Cons: Directions getting there and larger signage
Pros: Beautiful location, perfect for relaxation and recharging. Amazing rooms. Phenomenal staff - can’t say enough good things about how friendly and welcoming everyone was.
Pros: I am reluctant to give El Silencio the outstanding review it deserves because I honestly don’t want too many people to find this place! It’s amazing. The location is gorgeous. The spa was outstanding (Seleny, I wish I could bring you home with me!). Every meal was great. But it’s the service. You feel like you are staying with family that you actually enjoy being with! They care about you. We were out hiking to the waterfalls and got stuck in a torrential rain storm! As we were making our way back, we ran into Franhlin, who works in the greenhouse, and he was waiting for us halfway up the trail with umbrellas to help us get back down. He found us shelter nearby and radio’d for a van to come pick us up. He had been standing out there in the rain for at least an hour to help us down the trails and get us back safely. I have relatives that wouldn’t go that far for me! This is what keeps me coming back every year.
Pros: Amazing fresh food with excellent staff, beautiful villas and gorgeous property.

Its an extraordinary dining experience right on the edge of the cloud forest. Private, peaceful, and personalized to your taste, Villa Blanca immerses you in a Costa Rica you never imagined existed.
Pros: The surrounding area is spectacular. It feels so mystical! The hotel is beautiful, with lots of interesting decorations and special touches. The staff are so helpful and friendly. They even provided delicious home made granola bars wrapped beautifully in leaves with tea and coffee in the morning. There is wonderful nature all around and jungle walks right on the property. We are going back again in just under 2 weeks and I can't wait to explore some more! We love it there!
Cons: I loved everything!
Pros: Absolutely magnificent place. Just the drive towards the hotel was worth the money. Night tour in the rain forest is a MUST. Lack of TV in the rooms.
Cons: My room's dehumidifier didn't work.
Pros: Wow, this was our second stay at Villa Blanca Cloud Forest and once again it exceeded our expectations!! The location is magical!! The hotel property and facilities are wonderful. The food, much of it which comes from the property or the local area is delicious! They even make their own cheeses and yoghurts and they are SO GOOD! They are very focused on sustainability and protecting the environment. All of this is wonderful but to top it all off, their staff (all of them but especially the bar/dining room staff) are some of the best hotel staff that we have encountered in any of the hotels we have stayed in around the world, including 5 star hotels. They were so friendly and kind and lovely to be around. They were always willing to help and were amazing with our kids! We really appreciate everything they all did to make our stay extra-special. We can't wait to come back again!
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect!
Pros: Most incredible destination I have ever visited in my life. Was here 8 years ago and it is still the same. Sitting up in the clouds is amazing and viewing nature at it's finest makes my heart sing. PURA VIDA in every sense of the slogan. Will return here again and again to experience the peace and beauty!
Pros: Very good staff. Good restaurant. Good birdwatching tour of proprety.
Cons: Some of these questions do not fit the property. A rough road to get there.

Pros: Great service! Elena is an amazing host and made us feel extremely welcome. Breakfast was amazing, the rooms are clean and modern, and the view is great. The bathrooms were wonderful. Overall we were super pleased with our stay and would stay again!
Cons: Location was a bit challenging to drive to, especially if first learning to drive in Costa Rica. Very steep entry into home. Not within walkable distance of San Ramon, which means a great view and quiet stay. Walkable to a pizza restaurant (0.2 km) and a wings restaurant/bar (0.5km)
Pros: It is a beautifully designed facility with many contemporary architectural details which really appealed to us. The two sisters that manage the property are wonderful and warm. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in Costa Rica. An excellent place to stay.
Cons: There was nothing that we did not like.
Pros: Beautiful room and bathroom, comfortable bed, nice shower, super soft towels, wonderful breakfast, lovely staff, secure parking. Highly recommend.
Cons: Wifi didn’t work very well in the room, but was OK close to the main part of the house
Pros: Exceptionally friendly welcome, delicious breakfast and perfect location for a one night stay after arriving into San Jose airport. Brilliant value for money.
Pros: Modern room. Comfortable bed, great breakfast and friendly host. Ideal stop off on route
Cons: Room a bit small
Pros: Wonderful place to stay. I’d highly recommend it
Pros: Great attention to detail with enthusiastic and helpful staff. Fantastic breakfast presented beautifully
Pros: Loved the staff!!!
Pros: Kim and David were very gracious hosts. The place was lovely and they were very responsive to our needs. I appreciated the fruit, juice and other edibles we found in our rental. The view was stunning!
Pros: Amazing views! Outstanding porches to sit and take in the beginning and end of the day. Delicious breakfast from the proprietor Kim, who was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautifully done and very tidy and nice The directions were excellent, follow them! Our little rental car had no trouble with the road in
Cons: WiFi was minimally functional, made it hard to plan our next day etc. - No WiFi in the rooms, which may have been permanent or temporary, not sure. The rooms are lovely, but I would repurpose the huge linen closet and put in a small frig and microwave, it’s just so convenient when traveling! The road up is rough, but not impossible. They were about to get the roads graded
Pros: Kim cooked an excellent breakfast everyday I was there. She and her husband David are great hosts very knowledgeable of the are of San Ramon and of Coats Rica. I will be back to spend another enjoyable visit with Kim, David and their family.
Pros: There was a slight mix up in regard to breakfast which wasn't a problem for us as we wanted to head off early. The owners gave us our breakfast cost back and we were very happy. They do lovely breakfasts so don't be put off, but make sure you book a breakfast and they confirm it. The views are wonderful and everywhere is nice. We used it as a one night stop off on our drive to the west coast.
Cons: Getting up the drive is not pleasant and its very step and very rough almost to the point that you think you must have taken a wrong turn and it couldn't possibly be up there... but it is. Parking outside the first villa is very difficult not helped by a poor road.
Pros: Beautiful bread and cheese supper provided one evening.
Pros: It's tough to get to this location, but worth the hairy drive. Amazing views! very nice proprietors!
Pros: We had a very private bungalow with views of the forest outside our door and the lights of town across the valley. Such a perfect house with a kitchen and big shaded deck, it deserves a few nights stay for two couples or honeymooners. Fun to walk around the property but expect some steep slopes. The owners and their children are lovely.
Cons: Well, the reviews accurately described the tricky drive to the house. We often thought we were lost. But the trip was well worth it. It is probably a 10 minute drive from the house to find a cafe or market.

Cons: The room was cold at night, however they did have a small electrical heater that helped, so ask for this on your first night and leave it on.
Pros: The breakfast was amazing. Also some of the best coffee I've ever had. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Great way to end our trip!
Pros: The set up and the view
Pros: Views amazing and staff lovely
Pros: Architectural concepts, original furniture, and great views.

Pros: Peaceful cloud forest with wonderful bird life
Pros: Very friendly staff helpful and going the extra mile to help
Cons: The drive approach very poor road 4x4 required
Pros: Beautiful location. Amazing, attentive staff, great food.
Cons: A bit cold in the rooms. Meals and laundry service are pricey.
Pros: Lovely setting in the cloud forest. Very good food. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: It was quite chilly overnight and there was no heat in the room. Not enough blankets to keep us warm. Each night that we were there, a group left the lodge between 4AM and 4:30AM. It was a very noisy departure, with shouting and much noise with luggage rolling along the outside corridor.
Pros: Location very nice the stud were good and kind
Cons: Quite expensive
Pros: This was more expensive than Hotel Sagevre, and Arenal Observatory Lodge, both of which were a world apart in comfort and facilities. Overpriced (by about 50%) with poor facilities, cold room. Surroundings were lovely, but then most of Costa Rica is... To be charged $25 for a meal that arrived with no choice, at a set time, and with poor quality ingredients was not acceptable. If you want a better wildlife experience with comfort, look elsewhere.
Cons: Rooms, no facilities, no bar, no restaurant choice, price.
Pros: Beautiful location. Reserve access included. Staff is very helpful.
Cons: Road coming from Zarcero is intense. Hotel is pricey.
Pros: Our stay at Bosque de Paz was incredible! The location of the hotel is tucked away in the woods, surrounded by nature, peace, and quiet. The surroundings are just beautiful with huge trees and hummingbirds zooming through the grounds. The breakfasts and dinners were quite tasty, and the staff members were super friendly. We look forward to going back when we get a chance!
Cons: Everything was great!
Pros: Location, Staff like friends, Clean & Adventure. Great for animals.
Cons: Low on bird numbers, compared to other locations, but some exciting finds like Azure hooded jay.

Pros: The location of this hotel is breath taking. It is a stunning vista from every room over the mountains. It is a small property (10 rooms) and high up on a mountain. The “cabin” rooms are simple but beautiful with lots of wood and lovely balconies to relax on. Just a lovely place to relax and do nothing
Cons: I cannot complain. My stay here was just lovely
Pros: The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The included breakfast is very good. The views are SPECTACULAR. The hotel is located in a perfect spot for discovering both the small towns around and the several waterfalls Bajos del Toro has to offer.
Cons: The only thing that was not so good was the overall cleanness of the place. You could see hair in the corners of the bathroom floor, our dog found something very weird underneath one of the beds apart from a layer of dust. They clearly do not sweep a lot under the beds. The first room we were assigned had a broken bathroom knob. I still recommend the place, they just need to push a bit more the cleaning standard.
Pros: Large bed was comfortable and there was a great view from the window.
Cons: There was no hit water and Wi-Fi did not work.
Pros: Outstanding service. Came in late and the restaurant stayed late and cooked us a meal
Pros: the views are amazing
Cons: no hot water and the tin roof
Pros: We like the place, the view, the service at the breakfast time and the weather. We are considering to come back.
Cons: Have to drive for the breakfast,
Pros: The view is absolutely stunning. There is a coffee machine but no coffee, so bring your own. A microwave is also there, as well as a fridge.
Cons: There was no hot water (so don't expect to have a bath in the beautiful tub) and at night the temperature drops, so it was very chilly. We did ask for an additional heater and got given blankets. For sleeping that's fine, but just being in the room was still cold.

Pros: Hostal Los Parques was excellent! The staff was super friendly, positive and helpful and the hostel had a very home-y feeling: we instantly felt comfortable there. By far the best hostel we've been to so far!
Pros: It is nothing to like.
Cons: 1. In the room was dirty socks, when we arrive. 2. Location near the cemetery 3. We were told that the breakfast is 8 dollars per 2 of us, but we were charge almost 10 dollars. 4. The hostel with wood stairs - so you hear everything when visitors came. 5. It was really the worst hostel with unpleasant personal. It is not worth the money, at all. I definitely not recommend you to stay here.
