10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place with rooftop to watch tue sunrise:) Good to have a kitchen to prepare some snack or smoothie.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning view from sun terrace. Very helpful staff, great help in organising our days in Atitlan. Place is a bit remote but accommodations is really unique and lovely. Rooms are spacious, shared bathrooms clean. Breakfast is very good.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality, the beautiful balcony, the room, the quiet village.
Cons: Nothing - the shower is a bit basic but it was clean and effective.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Nice service. Good location.
Cons: -
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This place is a short walk from the Santa Cruz boat dock. The breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake and volcanoes was beautiful. There was hot water in the showers. There are hammocks and some friendly dogs. It was pretty quiet at night.
Cons: It is dark to reach at night, so you will need a light if you arrive at night. The mattress was springy, which was ok, but not great. Be aware that you may need to make dinner plans before you arrive if you come in late. There were not a lot of restaurants open and the ones we saw require advance reservations. This was communicated by Casa Kactus ahead of time though, so we had no problems finding food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place. Super friendly owners.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really comfortable accomodation. Huge rooms and cute cactus theme throughout. Free breakfast was amazing. Good to have own kitchen where you could cook.
Cons: There are a couple of dogs here that do bark a little but they’re just protective of the place and calm down once they meet you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The building was originally an old boarding school that Ever and Sarah have lovingly renovated. Its very cool. We loved relaxing on the rooftop - the view is amazing. Our room was really spacious. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, cups etc. The breakfast was really nice. Ever and Sarah have created a really relaxed, welcoming environment. The path from the dock to the hostel is cool - a series of wooden boardwalks and a partly cobbled laneway (so it is useful to bring a torch / phone to navigate the route at night).
Hotel y Cafe La Casa del Mundo - Sololá - Bedroom
2
9.3 Excellent (184 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel y Cafe La Casa del Mundo in Santa Cruz La Laguna, you'll be on the beach, and 8.5 mi (13.7 km) from CHIYA Art Gallery and 10.1 mi (16.3 km) from Church of Saint Peter. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a library. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The setting is stunning. Views from rooms are amazing. There are so many little nooks and crannys hidden away all over the property to find somewhere to relax. Fantastic swimming location. Can easily access the property by telling the boat operators to stop at the private jetty, and can easily flag down other boats if you wish to go off and explore other areas of the lake during the day. A little pricey compared to some surrounding options although you'd pay far far more for this type of accomodation in many other parts of the world.
Cons: Meals provided were of reasonable quality but perhaps expected a bit more. Some of the other nearby hostels and restaurants provided better options. Although this could have just been the days I was there. Accessibility issues would be a problem for those unable to use stairs as the hotel is on the side of the cliff with many stairs to continually navigate to get anywhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. It's an amazing place, wonderful view, excellent food
Cons: WiFi
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location location location!!! It’s located on the mountain facing the volcano. Amazing view in the morning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the family dinner style - met lots of great people that really enhanced our stay. The room had a perfect view of the sunrise over the water and the wood fired hot tub was a great way to relax after dinner
Cons: Did find spiders as warned but they were pretty easy to avoid if bed pulled away from wall
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every nook and cranny was amazing and we had the most amazing time. It was super cozy and the room was small but perfect. The food and coffee, too, were amazing.
Cons: Difficult to find fault. It would be nice to be able to pay with Credit or debit card to avoid charges
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice location, beautyfull big room, splendid view from the window, good dinner and brekfast, very nice staff. Thank you!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was incredible and the staff were very kind and helpful.
Cons: The only negative I have is I wish it had been better communicated that they accept cash only. Not a huge issue. Just a minor annoyance that didn't overshadow any other part of the stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible location next to the lake. Views across to the volcanoes. Excellent breakfast and family style dinner available. Kayaks etc available to use on the lake. Lots of patios and seating areas to view the lake. Wood fired hot tub, sauna and areas to easily get into the lake to swim.
Cons: Payment only through PayPal or cash made checkout slightly more difficult than necessary.
Abu Hotel - Panajachel - Bedroom

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. 7.9 Good
Pros: Location is great. Short walk to the main street. The place was clean. Wifi was strong. Host was nice enough to provide a fan when requested.
Cons: The kitchen wasn’t available to be used even though this was advertised. I only needed to boil water in the morning for coffee I had brought. They didn’t even allow that. We were supposed to stay 4 days but cut it to 3 because it was getting too expensive to eat 3 meals out, minimum, everyday. The room was very basic - no chair or table or place to hang or put down clothes -just a suitcase rack.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so lovely! Very helpful and friendly. The room was fantastic given how little we paid. All the basics are there and in great condition!
Cons: Shower was very cold when I had one (not sure if this is the same for everyone)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location, pretty quiet in an alley. (The entrance can be a bit hard to find at first, but the shopkeepers helped us a bit.) Good value for money. Nice owners, who speak good English.
Cons: It is value for money, so don't expect luxury. But everything was there, and clean. But, we could have used a reading/night light in the room. And we could have used a fan to get the warmth out in the evening.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Stuff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Nice common area outside with hammocks and a large table with chairs. Location was good.
Cons: The only thing we didn’t like was that it was very hard to find since there is no sign outside and we passed by multiple times trying to find it.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Simple rooms, perfectly clean, good value for money
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: We’ve encountered bedbugs here in 2 different rooms. The owner handled things very badly, instead of apologising for the situation he denied his responsibility and blamed us for bringing them in [in an incredibly rude manner]! I’m traveling with my 5 year old son and dealing with the itchy bites will be terrible. Since ALL our stays in other hotels have been trouble free I can certainly not recommend this place.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The staff were kind and convenient because they could use English. The price is cheap.
Cons: I saw a cockroach. There was no warm water. The kitchen is not clean. The room is small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The most happy friendly staff you will ever meet :). Location is perfect just off the main road but still quiet. Free glass of water or cheap bottle refill. Environmentally friendly! Clean. No need for aircon because panajachel never gets too hot. Would definitely stay again.
Cons: Nothing.
Hotel El Sol - Panajachel - Building

Overview Reviews
Located in Panajachel, Hotel El Sol is in the mountains, within a 5-minute drive of Church of Saint Francis and Panajachel Municipal Market. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean with great facilities. Lots of room, the dorms are separated into private curtained sections with your own bed, table, chair and charging points. The Bathroom and showers are very clean and function well. Nice outdoor area to eat/smoke in and free tea and coffee all day. It's in an area 10-15 mins walk from the main tourist area which is safe and friendly. Wifi is excellent.
Cons: lacking a little atmosphere.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ultra-clean throughout, dormitory had curtains leaving each person a massive amount of space with a desk and a table light as well as your bed - wonderful it was! Free coffee, nice hot shower - nothing not to like!
Cons: A little bit far out of the centre... but I'm always on for a walk... and centre of town a bit lively for what I was after from this stay...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good value if you are traveling on a budget. The place is really clean!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Free tea and coffee Immaculately clean Dormitory split into areas - and mine was massive! You drew a curtain across and essentially had a small room with desk, chair and comfortable bed - single room facilities at (cheap) dormitory price - chuffed with that! Lovely hot shower - what's not to like?!
Cons: A little bit far from centre of town - but did mean it was quiet... and not an issue if you are not obsessed with walking everywhere! An argument that good to be away from the action in Pana
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Súper clean, best shower I have ever had in a hostel. Lockers are available. Comfortable bed, but really need new pillows. Breakfast was all I had. It was great and reasonably priced. A bit out of the tourist zone, but it isn’t a thirty minute walk to anywhere in Pana. I will definitely book here in the future. It is a good value.
Cons: None for me
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hostel - great owner and staff, super clean, cozy, quiet and best of all: mosquito nets on all windows! It was the only hostel I stayed in Central America where I had no issues whatsoever with mosquitoes and was able to sleep incredibly well. Dorm is spacious, with tables and curtains for privacy. Good wifi and hot shower. Hostel offers reasonably priced Japanese food, laundry and even printing/copy services. You'll get a good deal on paragliding too!
Cons: As stated in other reviews, the only downside is location. Still, it's just a Q5 tuk-tuk ride or a 10~15 minutes walk, no big deal.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel So Sol. The owners were very accommodating and had an answer to any question we asked, often anticipating us. While we only ate breakfast there, it was always excellent. We took tuk-tuks to go into the center of town. While we found Panajachel to be rather noisy, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously.
Cons: While the beds were pretty comfortable, the sheets always came loose during the night.

Pros: Gorgeous hotel with a great staff and beautiful views.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location and access to the lake
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view is amazing, the gardens unreal, delicious food. We absolutely love everything.
7.1 Good
Pros: Amazing view. Great location. The gardens were very nice.
Cons: Everything was overpriced. I expected a nicer room for the price. Drinks and food were very expensive and there’s no alternative places. There are even signs saying you can’t bring food on their property. Drinks were 75-90Q’s (~$10-$15). Breakfast was expensive and not that good for the price. Dinner a plate of vegetables was expensive and there was not much on it. They offer boat tours from the lake access but more than double the cost of going into the town and getting one there.
7.9 Good
Pros: The grounds and the views were gorgeous!
Cons: There were a number of noisy and late partying groups. This was more of a problem as our room was near the pool. I would prefer to be closer to the town.

Pros: This is the go to place in Pana for me. Beautiful rooms and garden, helpful and polite staff, tranquil and quiet, away from the noise and hustle. Wonderful improvements everytime I visit. This time we did a room upgrade for a few dollars more and got a huge lovely living room area along with a large bedroom and private bath. Really nice space to chill and read in on rainy afternoons. Love this place!

Cons: Breakfast is a bit short on verity (fruits & bread)
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good and the staff was really nice.
Cons: I was told to expect spiders which i was fine with, what I didn't expect was our room to be full of flies and mosquitoes when we checked in. The floor was also very dirty, we couldn't walk around barefoot without dirt sticking to our feet. Our room had 3 windows and only 1 opened, they didn't have any fans to use. We got a mosquito net for our bed but there was no hook to hang it on.

10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent with easy access to restaurants and the boat dock to take day trips to the towns around the lake.
Cons: The restaurant is very expensive for what you get, especially for breakfast. For the price of the room they could include the basic ammenities like shampoo, lotion, etc they only provide soap from a dispenser. Also no tea or coffee machine in the room. We requested one of the rooms to be a king bed when doing the reservation, upon arrival they informed us it was not possible.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: comfortable beds, location, restaurant has a great view, staff are helpful
7.9 Good
Pros: The view across Lake Atitlan can not be beaten, the hotel was well situated, allowing easy access to the lake and the interesting towns elsewhere around the shores. The rooms were comfortable and spacious and ours opened onto a narrow but well kept strip of garden. This was on a raised level overlooking the beautiful lake. The bathroom was a little small and dark but functional. The staff in reception were very good and helpful, particularly in assisting with transfers to and from hotel and arranging a tour of the small towns on the other side of the lake.
Cons: The food was quite good in the restaurant but the hotel does cater for large tour groups, something we prefer to avoid. Not sure about security, particularly in the restaurant. Panajachel is over touristy and in retrospect I would not have chosen it as a place to stay, however I would definitely recommend Lake Atitlan as a place to visit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location. The grounds were breathtaking. It was just as I expected. Our team was there for a one night rest after our mission trip in Chichicastanengo. It was perfect for some rest and relaxation.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location, views staff and secure parking.
Cons: Room was slightly dark without view but we didn’t need that.

Shuttle arranged to Guatemala City and Antigua plus across Lake. Also tours to other locations was very helpful. View of Lake in morning before clouds appeared.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a delight! A friend recommended Casa Palopo to me, and it was the best! I stayed for three nights and was so sad to leave. Carmen and her team out do themselves to make guests feel welcomed and comfortable to enjoy their stay. They arranged transportation for me - both from the airport to Casa Palopo and to a hotel in Antigua, after my stay. Wilson, my driver, was great - always checking in on the temperature of the auto, the speed he was driving, if I needed to stop, etc. Casa Palopo also arranged a private boat tour for me - I loved visiting San Juan. Santiago was an interesting stop, but not as quaint as San Juan. The food and drinks were delicious - I ate almost every meal at Casa Palopo. I loved how when I was enjoying the lake views during my meal, my room would either be cleaned/made up for the day or prepared for the evening with the shades drawn and the bed turned down. One afternoon, the power went out for a few hours and the staff had candles spread throughout my room to ensure there would be light as the sunset. It was truly magical looking! I love the hotel's aim to be sustainable - from providing filtered water in a reusable carafe in the room to using stainless steel straws with drinks. A great next step might be to switch from small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion to larger bottles that can be refilled.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Homey feel while still being luxurious and the staff are so kind
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location leaves you amazed. The decor of hotel is beautiful. We particularly liked the upper house rooms with your own pool area.
Cons: Not so much anything to dislike, but they will need to carry out maintenance to pool area soon. It’s starting to show it’s age.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property was very quaint and pretty The view of Lake Atitlán was breathtakingly beautiful The room was so cute with lots of personal touches and the Dyson hairdryer was a nice surprise The watermelon and hibiscus welcome drink was delicious
Cons: The food served at the restaurant wasn’t great and a bit pricey. Don’t order the ravioli, it was horrible.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything. View, facilities, room, etc.
Cons: Prices on the restaurant are way too expensive for what they serve. Food is good, but the price is not justified.

Surely, the Lake has it's own natural beauty, but the resort is gorgeous, comfortable, luxurious, and absolutely stunning to take in and admire on its own. Highly recommend drinks at the bar with Darwin and any and all food items on the menu -- you can't go wrong. Delicious! Giuseppe and his Uncle are wonderful hosts.

Pros: Gorgeous views, excellent friendly staff, great pool, good affordable food, very helpful. Walkng distance to Calle Santander and port. Kid-friendly - pool, playground, trampoline.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, spacious rooms with beautiful views of the lake. Lovely grounds and restaurant. Excellent location by the lake and close to everything.
Cons: The pillows were too hard, no safe in all the rooms and they don't give you much in the way of toiletries. The lounge chairs by the pool could have been cleaner and the gym was quite dirty. They charge a bit much for what you get considering this is Guatemala and breakfast is not included unless you purchase the all-inclusive plan which I wasn't aware of. Prices in the restaurant are high. Also, the website says they have an airport shuttle service; however, when I requested a shuttle pickup I was told they don't provide this service.

Pros: Beautiful views of the lake, spacious bathroom, comfortable beds, big table to put all your stuff on, great location that was close to restaurants, shops and the docks.
Cons: It got pretty noisy on a Saturday night because of the party that was going on outside. Also, it's a slightly older hotel and we could only find one electrical outlet in the bedroom to plug our phones and cameras in. Other than that, it was pretty great.

Pros: Everything was great and the staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was great. We visited the monkeys, butterflies and went to the lake and it was awesome. We'll definitely come back!
Cons: Everything was great!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was great, very comfortable and clean. It's set literally inside the Nature Reserve, well away from the hustle of Pana. It's very tranquil but some might find it a bit isolated. You can get tuktuks easily. It's just a room though, no other facilities really. To eat in the evening, you'll have to go into the town or go across the road to the luxury hotels opposite on the beach.

Pros: Food, butterfly garden , many activities
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, safe, exciting scenery
Cons: I thought we would have access to kayaks and zip lines would be included.

7.9 Good
Pros: I liked the location, the beautiful gardens, the lake, the proximity to art and craft shops, restaurants and other places of interest. The food in the restaurant, including breakfast, is good.
Cons: The walls are thin, so noise from adjacent rooms and the corridor as well as vehicles making deliveries early in the morning can be very disturbing. There are windows in rooms of this hotel (comprising two floors) that are of clear glass. If the blinds that shut out all light are not lowered, the white sheer curtains do little to provide privacy. There is no telephone in the room to contact the front desk staff in case of emergency or even to ask a question. The WiFi was not reliable from the second floor where my room was located.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Great atmosphere and the view, great common dinners. I came for diving at the lake so it was super convenient that the diving place is at the hostel property. Helpful and fun staff and volunteers, very good food. Loved it!
Cons: There are not a lot of food options in Santa Cruz, so you kind of have to eat all meals at the hostel. They are a bit pricy but very tasty, so for a holiday it was great, but for a longer stay it would probably be too expensive for a regular backpacker.

Pros: Very nice atmosphere in the hostel. Good for making friends. Incredible view from our bedroom. Nice chill out spaces.
10.0 Excellent
