Extremely pleasant hotel, good and even stylish breakfast with a great variety, cool rooms, free wifi, even free parking available in streets around the hotel. Downtown Girona is at around 20 min. by foot, supermarket nearby. We definitively would stay there again whenever going to Girona.
It was close to everything The walls are very thin and you can hear everything!!!
My daughter and I were delighted with the size and cleanliness of the bathroom, with the large walk-in shower--quite an improvement over the typical budget 24-inch by 24-inch stall. The breakfast--a nice cheese-and-cold-cuts with rolls affair, with pastry options--was better than average for budget hotels. Coffee--espresso--was served to us by the kitchen staff. View from room (exterior) was pleasant (a hillside with attractive buildings) and there was no bothersome noise in November from the street. The twin beds, while adequate, were no better in comfort than the typical budget hotel's. For whatever reason, we slept fitfully. The hotel's location, while about a quarter mile from the walled city, hadn't much charm in itself.
central position did not like first room we booked small 3 bedroom
The cleanliness of the room, the location and the sympathy of the staff
Clean, central and friendly. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff who speak some English and are keen to help. Comfortable bed. Great shower. Some noise late at night from corridor.
Spacious room and bathroom. Good shower Mirror in the bedroom would be useful.
Nicely refurbished, clean and well-decorated, particularly the bathroom. Breakfast was of a good standard and choice. Would have liked individual toiletry items in the bathroom. Some street/traffic noise in the morning from our room.
Three things were excellent : the location, the pleasantness and friendliness of the staff and the breakfasts. My single room was poorly lit and did not have any natural daylight. Also the room was a bit spartan but what did I expect for 39 euros a night!
Simply, I like everything! N/A
The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good value, and the room was kept very clean. It is in a very handy location. As a very minor complaint, a lick of paint would not go wrong.
The staff were excellent - I would recommend this hotel based on my experience
hotel very near to bus station, bus from airport on the half hour, very nice hotel owner. would stay again, ideal place for tabac run
Perfect location for Girona airport and for the city sightseeing.
An absolutely delightful place to stay. It is like coming home to a loving family! None
It was clean and convenient and staff were helpful Small, dingy room; much plumbing noise; and unpleasant smell.
This is a great budget hotel. Rooms are a good size, very clean, quiet. The reception staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The location is very convenient to the centre of town. I would happily stay there again.
Friendly staff, very helpful, good atmosphere and clean relaxing rooms
Very near train station convenient. The staff was very helpful and made us feel welcomed
The staff attendance and given clues about the city and places. The breakfast could have more variety, but when I asked for more bread I was served gently.
Very friendly and helpful staff
You need to do something about the step outside the lift. The tile on the edge of the one level has been made the same colour as the one on the lower level. It is difficult to see tgat there is a step there and I fell heavily. It needs some sort of a warning sign.
Already been here, everything ok:out of the crowd in a small nice town but very handy for Airport, town of Girona and a few km.away seaside. They just finished bar/restaurant renovation and had dinner(very convenient set menu):simple but assorted menu also with old rural Catalan dishes(try pork paw with sausage and cuttlefish sauce!). Rooms was clean but in the bathroom there was some fluff on the floor, overall tidy though.
Everything in line with expected:family run business, very friendly, well renovated rooms.Good value for money and,for my business needs in that area, handy and in a nice village. Actually, parking space problem highlighted from other guest is non relevant:it's obvious that since you're in a pedestrian area and anyway, despite a evening show in square where car park available, found it immediately(at 100 mt.)!
Helpful, friendly staff, comfortable room at reasonable price and useful stop-over on the way from Gerona airport on the way west to the Pyrenees.
Location and the friendly atmosphere. The room was very spacious and clean. A little far from the airport as we had to go back to collect a car the next day and it cost €60 for taxis to and from hotel.
Large and clean room and bathroom. Very near the airport. Staff not allways available, poor reception, outdated, no free parking (do not leave your car in the market-place on saterday morning because it will be removed), WiFi not available.
difficult to locate
The staff were so helpful. The owners charming daughter was fluent in English and was summoned to help with any queries. We chose it because it was near Girona airport but the bonus was excellent food - a selection of tapas [served in the bar] both from the menu and special requests not on the menu. The dining room looked good, though we didn't want a full meal. We have tried a number of hotels near Girona airport and this was the most convenient [very easy cross country drive], the most comfortable, the best food and without doubt suited us best. Excellent value for money - we'll go back again.
The room and the private car parking The difficulty in finding the hotel and negotiating the very narrow onw way streets
I like how the room was furnirshed. Unfortunately there was a church in front of the hotel which`s bell was ringing in the early morning for a couple of hours each our and woke me up:(
The room was war and well equipped and very clean It was a little noisy...noise from the road outside and corridors when people used them
Goos location and friendly staff A bit mean with replacing soap and shampoo when we were there for 5 nights
Not much of a looker from the outside, but wonderful inside. The location was perfect for walking tours of Olot. We would definitely stay here on our next trip.
Location, cleanliness. Easy access into the city and sights. I would recommend
Good food at a very fair price I couldnt turn on the tv (complicated?) a rather traditionel hotel. Not very charming.
Close to the airport Quite noisy, poorly isolated between the room and corridor.
Room size was surprisingly big. And also TV was very big. The room was clean. The reception area of the hotel is not very neat and cozy.
proximity to airport arrived just after 2230 and restaurant was closed
Convenience and easy access to the airport Noisy air conditioning unit, decoration dated and poor television location
Helpful and friendly staff.
perfect location near airport, hygienic assrtment in bathroom OK, we were satisfied
Good ,stándard ok not luxury, nice staff , a typical weekendhotel when you visit Barcelona on daytime and you have a place to sleep in,a familyhotel close to the airport Food at the restaurant was a bit tasteless
It was near airport so no transfes i expected for it to be paid on reservation i got there thinking it was paid but had to pay on arrival
Very good location near the Girona Airport - just walk out from the terminal, pass the street and cross the car parking. Then turn left and go down the street to a roundabout. The hotel is on the right. Good equipment in room: large TV, 3 towels, hairdryer, even a disposable toothbrush and a toothpaste. The hotel is not that cheap so at least Wi-Fi could be free of charge. No signs at the airport how to get to the hotel.
They are very relaxed. Even cooked me scrambled egg and bacon for breakfast. If l had not have bought my booking.com reference number l would have had to pay 20 euros more for my one night stay. But a bit expensive for 1 night anyway.
Room for smokers was upon our request immediately exchanged for a room for non-smokers. Friendly and forthcoming staff. Hotel owned parking spaces in the evening are limited.
Easy to find and comfortable room Choice of food was poor and quality was terrible
The staff were exceptionally helpful recommending good restaurants and tourist attractions in Girona. The Ibis is not a luxury hotel but is comfortable, clean and exceptional value for money. It is a bit out of town but there's a bus service nearby costing E1.20 to the centre.
It was bright, cheerful and clean. Free parking. Easy to find from motorway and main roads. The room was rather too hot to sleep comfortably. Otherwise fine. Rather a trek to the bus-stop into the city.
Another good night spent on our journey between Spain and UK. Staff are efficient and friendly. Breakfast, even though it costs extra, was good - especially the catalunyan tomato garlic toast!
Quiet location and clean hotel. Booking says that the hotel offers free wi-fi in the business centre, but it's not true. And staff should be more helpful and nicer.
Very nice hotel, staff very helpful, food and drink excellant, rooms too hot. Marcol on service desk very nice and helpful, thankyou for the taxi to the airport.
Friendly service, fantastic breakfast, clean, comfortable, great view and location
Convenient but not too close to town, quiet, provided basic facilities at reasonable cost. Would prefer a kettle in the room to a TV.
Clean and nice. Not at all outside town as said in guide books. Would be nice if the staffs' english would be at bit better (it's really our own fault for not speaking spanish).
the AC in the room, the view and Breakfast was nice room's floor was dirty, the light in the bathroom was very poor and the placement of the liquid soap between the shower and the sink was very inconvenient and even dangerous.
Friendly and helpful staff. Big hearty breakfast and dinner!!!! Terrific deal!! Great view from the balcony of my room. 1. the beds were small nd too soft without any back support. Not something you'd want after a day's trekking in the beautiful volcanic area of Garrotxa. 2. walls were paper thin so you can hear conversations in next room.
The receptionist checking us in was very friendly and spontaneously provided extensive and very useful tourist information about the region. The general areas and corridors had a very strong smell of Catalan food.
Friendly staff, nice breakfast
Hotel is new and is furnished is a very clean and modern fashion. Room was very quiet - which says a lot about they sound-proofing they installed, as the street is fairly noisey. We ate breakfast in their dining room (a small buffet), and it turned out to be very nice - including excellent cafe con leche. Hotel isn't in a great neighborhood but is actually very convenient to both the highway and downtown Girona (about 4 KM straight down the road).
Very good location for visiting Dali museums, easy access off main roads and good (free) parking by Reception. Couple of close basic food shops and decent size playground almost opposite. Good double glazing made for quiet rooms. Free WIFI. Location is in industrial part -not much to see or do immediately around, but good for stop-over if passing through.
very very nice service from all staff
Comfortable room, good bed and bathroom, and excellent airco.Perfect sound isolation.
Ella, best of all because she spoke English and was always helpful with a smile. Inconvenient to the city without a car. Buses OK but not great if you don't speak the language
very nice and friendly hotel. girona is a fantastic place and this hotel does it admirable justice. admittedly, it would have been nicer if the hotel was a little closer to the city centre but its not really that far away - a 30 minute walk in pleasant sunshine. on the whole, i liked it and i'd happily stay there again.
Excellent location to explore Girona and the Costa Brava (better if you have a car though). Room and furniture are very clean, new and in great condition. Air condition, overall sound isolation and bed mattress quality are well above standard. A real pleasure to sleep there! The breakfast also deserves a recommendation: For 10.70€ you get a rich choice of fresh breads, rolls, Kellogg's, different Nespresso pads, nice loose tea. And: The overall price is very competitive. Thanks to the friendly staff for the nice stay!
Very kindly staff, good service. Very god and varing breakfast. The towels were not good for wiping after the shower.
The hotel is associated with a neighbour restaurant where we had the menu of the day... This meal was really not good and a big disappointment.
location, decor...cold beer breakfast
Closeness to the beach. Very nice reception and bar area. Friendly family feel to it. No
Very nice place- It was unclear that it was outside the main sites of Figueres- 25 minute walk in through very nonscenic but safe part of town. Taxis were more expensive here than anywhere else in Spain- Over 10 Euro from the train station. Also very hard for pedestrians to cross the road to get back to the hotel--once again they assume everyone will be in a car.
Nice staff, good restaurant, on our route
free secured parking
Helpful receptionist. Conveniently located and good value for money. Very spacious bed and good bathroom. The charge of €9.75 ( Sep 2010) for the breakfast is excessive given the range of buffet food available. A more realistic price would have been €6.50 or €7.
Good restaurant in hotel
Simple, comfortable beds. Forgettable. No big impression one way or another.
Simple to find. Receptionists were friendly and helpful, and spoke several languages. Enthusiastically gave directions and suggestions about the area, and made sure we had reservations and information for the museums we wanted to see. High-speed internet available in lobby for reasonable price. Not really near anything, but was the only room left within our budget at the time we booked. Designed for driving to, not walking to. The breakfast was overpriced. As usual, not enought coat hangers. No secure storage in the room.
Easy to find, helpfull staff who made sure we kew all about the place, good parking, close to shops and restaurants
Excellent room. Front desk staff spoke English and was friendly. Underground parking. Located in nice neighborhood 15 minutes walking from Dali Museum The coffee/crossaint "breakfast" was 3 euros a person, and the server acted like he really didn't want to serve us. The dinner the night before in the hotel restaurant was served very nicely, but we wouldn't recommend the place for vegetarians.
Not a lot it was nothing special and cost us £100 for just the room we would not stop there again It was not good value for money
lovely newly refurbished bedroom and bathroom
very comfortable rooms, nice interior, hotel parking nearby, located in the center of the city, not far from main seesights.
the hotel is redesigned ,rooms are well decorated, staff is helpfull, very good value for your money.excellent location.
Most comfortable hotel bed in world, great buffet breakfast Lobby area under reconstruction 16 hours a day, no satellite TV signal for foreign language stations except CNN, view from room blocked by close multi-storey car park
Hotel Gran Ultonia was a very new modern & spacious hotel close to the old city attractions of Girona
Nice, spacious room with excellent bathroom. Superb breakfast. Friendly staff. The parking facility is not for the claustrophobic and people with large cars cannot use it. Also, the access has no ramp which is bad for the car.
What a nice butique hotel - make sure that you have the only room with a whirlpool bath :)
The location of the hotel and the considerate and competent way I was treated by the two young women who meet the public. They could also tell you, by telephone how to get to the hotel without getting lost. (June 2009).
The hotel was very central to the old town and its shopping facitilties. It was very modern and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The electronic system in the rooms were quite difficult to get to grips with. We kept opening the curtains instead of turningthe lights on!!!
Located in heart of historic centre, perfect location. Excellent, young, multi-lingual and very helpful staff. Remote control for lighting in bedroom and bathroom was not easy to understand as instructions in Catalan! Being city centre a little noisy at times.
very pleasant staff and locals. beautiful relaxing atmosphere. perfect position near cathedral and old town light switches a little confusing - would have liked kettle in own room and breakfast facilities on last day as had to leave by 7;15. lack of space for clothes. not keen on there being little privacy in bath room/toilet
Comfortable, spacious room with high quality, modern fixtures and fittings. Friendly, helpful staff. Central location.
Its central position, the friendliness of the staff, particularly on reception. The efficient self service breakfast, best experienced anywhere. Cleanliness of rooms and communal areas. Lovely en suite bathroom. The bedroom was ultra modern and stylish which we liked but the control switches to operate lighting etc were quite challenging. Given the water shortages in this area during the summer I had reservations about the unconventional wash basin. There was no facility for capturing the running water in the basin (ie no plug) and therefore the water just drained away which I felt to be very wasteful.
The room and bathroom are quit big size and comftable with the most technology. After 11pm no receptionest or security???
Excellent reconstruction of well sited building in historic setting in old town into an upmarket stylish contemporary small hotel legends
Location is excellent. Nice staff. Room design is aggressively modern - white walls with glass accents, rosewood built-in furnishings. Bathroom contains zingy, high-style fixtures but this is separated from main room by a sandblasted glass enclosure. This means that the sounds, and at night the light, of another person using the bathroom are very present. We decided that the place would be ideal for a young couple having a dirty weekend (hotel conveniently provides a booklet of "tantric sex for dummies" plus advertises a "sensuality pack" for sale), but it's less than ideal for travellers and tourists.
The town of Girona is beautiful and the hotel and the staff were friendly. the old town and historic area are well worth the visit and a must see. The hotel is located near the commercial part of the town and so you have to be prepared to walk for 15-20 mins to access the beautiful old town.
room was clean and comfortable parking was limited / small, not all items in mini bar / toilet were refilled during my stay.
Ariel at Reception was the only team member that displayed exemplorary guest service skills. He was always very helpful and willing to offer information relating to the city etc. He is a credit to the company. Breakfast service - had to ask for coffee . Restaurant staff were more focused on clearing tables rather than serving clients. Description of breakfast in guest directory led us to believe that there would be a substantial choice, when infact was merely an adequate selection. Hence we only took breakfast once during our stay. Food was well cooked and presented, just not what we anticipated.
The hotel is in an excellent location and has secure parking. When our car broke down the hotel were extremely helpful. Food served by room service was disappointing
The hotel was relaxes and quiet. Some outside space to sit and have a snack or drink would have been appreciated.
The hotel as great - location, room, food, stuff The parking of the hotel is a bit compliacted and thus I used an outside parking
A great hotel, good staff and excellent facility. Well worth the money
beds very comfortable. Staff very pleasant internet works well parking expensive
As we only stayed overnight the bed!
Very good room, very good breakfast, efficient check-in and check-out, good location of the hotel the garage spaces are very small
the friendliness and help of the staff
As a solo woman traveller, I booked this hotel as it had stated to be within walking distance of the airport and also there was a shuttle bus from airport to take me to hotel. However I arrived at airport approx 9.30pm, no sign of shuttle bus! As it was dark and I didn't know the way to the hotel I got a taxi. It was a complete rip off! €11.95 for a 4 min drive!
Convenience to airport and transfer service. Nice room. Good buffet breakfast. Unfortunately it wasn't explained anywhere that the transfer service operated from the airport to the hotel (by calling the hotel) as late as midnight, so we took a taxi unnecessarily.
The pool and spa was a very welcome addition. Very relaxing.
very funky interior, close to airport, free transfer, good free wifi
Some of the staff was very helpful The air in the room was stale. the buffet was too expensive
We arrived late (12 at night) and left after breakfast, so we did not have the chance to experience much of the facilities.
The location is excellent: near of the Girona airport, with airport transfer service. The hotel is very confortable, with excellent facilities.
SHdeG provided an excellent shuttle service to the airport, the bus to Girona stopped outside the door , the reception service was efficient and friendly, the room comfortable and good value. We didn't use the restaurant or the Spa as it was an overnight stay .
Ciutat de Girona is perfectly placed in the city centre. Whether you want to go shopping, out to eat, or see the sights it's all an easy walk. The longest walk we had was to the bus & train station, but even they were only a 15 minute amble. Girona is beautiful and the Ciutat de Girona makes the stay a comfortable, easy and enjoyable one!
We were very friendly welcomed by the desk-manager and it set the tone of our stay : helpful and relaxed, yet efficiently managed. Room and bathroom were large and spotless. Even if our room was just across the elevator, there was no outside noise and we slept easily. The buffet breakfast was well stocked and available till 11 am, which is a bonus on holiday. We would definitely stay in this hotel again ! At night the restaurant Blanc served only a menu, the quality of the main course was rather average.
The staff was great and the location excellent. Everything was in line with my expectations.
The hotel was spotless. The breakfast excellent .The mini bar was a nice touch and welcome when we arrived. Staff were very helpful. Few english speaking channels on tv. World news silent and the volume very low on other english speaking channels.
The hotel is very nicely situated close to the historic city centre. The hotel offer you a neat and very nice room. We liked the stay a lot.
Warm courteous staff, cool vibe, great location
excellent hotel in central position. Staff very hekpful.
service, quality and friendliness no wireless access in rooms
Good location near city center Parking is a nightmare and staff was very unhelpful.
hospitality and comfort. Central to shopping .It was our 2nd stay at this hotel and will be back again next year. the breakfast was not good value for money but the evening meals are excellent.
Ideal location for exploring the old city The shower didn't drain away quick enough despite the hotel fixing it, and the modern trendy wash hand basin could have benifited from a proper plug. But hey, it's Spain and it's a modern, clean hotel.
Surroundings on site
Loved the peacefulness and lovely gardens and pool. Beautifull building, even better on the inside. Breakfast on the covered terrace was fantastic. Bring your cheque book for dinner! All in all a beautiful place to stay. Bedroom great for style and comfort.
The setting was very nice, it´s a michellin starred menu its a little out of town.
The beautiful gardens, friendly staff and serene setting. Dinner at the restaurant was michelin star quality. There was no coffee making facility in the rooms and our beds was two single beds and not matrimonial.
- Amazing food, beautiful setting, very comfortable rooms, staff is very (!) friendly, beautiful gardens, great little pool (it was too cold to swim), fabulous for a long weekend and close to Figueres (Dahli Museum)
This country oasis was perfect after our active eight days in urban Barcelona and Girona. Mas Pau is situated off a main road on large grounds set amidst small communities and towns. But that was ok with us because we used Mas Pau as a base camp for our explorations to Olot, Besalu, Figueres, Cadaques, St. Pere de Rodes. We ate breakfast every morning and enjoyed a wonderful tasting menu for dinner on the first night we arrived. The service was impeccable. Our room was situated in the tower and although you do see a neighbourhood beyond the fields, you also see hills/mountains, big sky and great sunsets. The grounds are beautifully maintained and if there had been a hot day, we would have stayed by the pool and listened to the birds. This is not a complaint but a warning that you do need a car to access Mas Pau and explore the scenic area.
Food portions too small even for 'Nouveau cusine'
Mas Pau is a beautifully renovated spanish farmhouse which is primarily known for its upmarket restaurant. The location and rooms were excellent, the pool (I think) was heated although small. This is a very small, personal hotel, there were very few people staying there when we were there. It was not clear before booking that the restaurant is closed on a Monday night, although they did email us after we had booked to tell us. It was a real shame as we had booked because of the recommendations for the restaurant.
The countryside ambience
I was looking for a one night accomodation in order to divide the trip into parts and the hotel is ok for that things Price is a litlle bit expansive
Price and pleasant atmosphere of the whole experience. The staff could not have been more freindly or helpful Noise from adjacent rooms could be a little better but it was tolerable
reasonably close to the airport, very basic but clean airport shuttle! left us at the airport for nearly 2 hours then refused to collect us and told to get a taxi, the reason we chose this hotel was because it offered a shuttle service, would not use again or reccommend
the staff were nice and the restaraunt and food were excellent
Best kept secret in Caldes de Maravilla! Family owned and friendly people that went out of their way to give information and help. Room was charming with a beautiful view of the gardens. Will make a point to stay there again. 5 Minute walk to the train station very accessible. No
Good staff and close to the airport, 15 minutes drive. The food finished at 22:30. We didn't arrive until 23:00
Its near the pga Golf course where I spent 6 days watching the European Qualifying School event. Its cheap and the staff are nice.
The friendliness of the staff and the room with balcony over a park.
Good value for money, a clean and friendly place place.
Too basic - it more like a youth hostel
