Overview of Sichuan Airlines

Based in Chengdu, Sichuan Airlines focuses predominantly on domestic services within China as well as international routes to other East Asian countries. Support hubs in Chongqing and Kunming help ease the load of traffic through Chengdu. Codeshare agreements with carriers, such as Air China, China Southern Airlines, Tibet Airlines and Shanghai Airlines, have consolidated their ability to offer a wide range of departure times within Asia. The airline has steadily expanded its long-haul international flights and now reaches the United States, Australia, Canada, Turkey, Denmark, New Zealand and Egypt, among others.

Exclusively Airbus planes make up the fleet, with a wide variety of models catering to specific routes. The A350-900 is one of the largest aircraft flown and can take approximately 330 passengers on long-distance trips to places such as Russia and Italy. Narrow-body planes like the A320 and A321 families are preferred for shorter routes within Asia. You can check to see which model you are flying on as Sichuan Airlines labels them underneath the pilot windows.

The petrel bird that features in the airline’s logo is also on the tail of the fleet with a red background that runs across the fuselage. Many Sichuan Airlines aircraft have special details, including a Panda decoration and Chinese Dragon livery.

In the Economy cabin seats are configured in a 3 x 3 x 3 arrangement, while the Business Class section has angled cabins that provide plenty of privacy. Passengers in both classes are offered chili sauce as a condiment with meals, while sweet buns are served to compliment your tea or coffee.
