Mostly good, smooth flight
Pros: Reasonable baggage fee.
Comfortable flight, seats, etc. Plenty of space for legs (I'm 6'4"). Requested window seat was available. Pleasant, professional staff at the gate.
A little rough over the mountains -- but that always happens to SLC.
Our flight was actually early. Baggage was waiting for me at the carousel when I arrived -- and I went almost directly there. I've never had that happen before -- great. I will fly Alaska again.
Cons: My only complaint was with check-in. I used the self-serve kiosk, which was easy to follow and efficient. The problem arose when I needed to check my bag. The computer instructs the passenger to go to the "baggage drop-off area," which I did. However, there was nobody there to receive my bag or to check my ID and give me a boarding pass. There was staff helping other customers at the "full-service" area, and I tried to get their attention. All I got in return was a head shake "no." This was especially frustrating since one of the staff members was observing other staff -- not actually working the computer to check in customers. I understand that she may not be able to leave her post to operate another post, but it seems reasonable to walk the mere 10 feet over to me to explain that I am in the right area and someone will assist me shortly. I ended up getting in line, which defeats the purpose of the kiosk, only to see a staff member show up to the drop off area. Going back, everything went fine from there.
