Beautiful views, kind staff
The views from this lodge are beautiful, but that may not be saying much considering the views from anywhere in that part of Namibia are probably equally amazing. We drove about 4 hours from Walvis Bay airport. And there was another hours drive when we wanted to go to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei the next day. That was ideal for us. The staff was very kind. Especially Daniella. And the facilities were very clean, especially given the potential for tracking in the desert sand.
We tried to reach out to book the excursion to the National Park weeks in advance and did not hear back. When we got to the lodge we were told that it was because their wi-fi was out and that there was still no Wi-Fi. They also could not find my reservation, and despite me having a confirmatory email from them, they blamed it on no Wi-Fi also. They claimed the Wi-Fi issue was Namibia-wide but we had perfect Wi-Fi at the Park and in Swapokmund. To top it off, they said they were not able to take us to the National Park because the usual Driver had a family emergency and no one else could do it. this was our main reason for visiting. Instead of spending the day relaxing and taking in the desert sights, I had to drive my friend and myself into and through the park. I understand that things happen! Especially in more remote locations. But something should have been comped for us given all the drama.
Hands-down the best place we stayed in our 2 weeks in Namibia. Physical setting is stunningly beautiful, with amazing views over the desert.
