If you book a room in this hotel, do not eat in town, but stay in the hotel ! The chef prepares a great diner, menu or a la carte.
Staff excellent, attentive and helpful. Personified by Alain Rosenzuey.
Great family room, good pool and excellent food Breakfast was expensive - we walked 5 mins into town and went to a local cafe / patisserie instead
The welcome was very good, the hotel and room were very well appointed and the food was excellent
Room was large, bed comfortable. Excellent restaurant attached with good selection of wines. Good English spoken. Bathroom basic but perfectly adequate. Somewhat quaint, largely wooden interior design gave the room a slight 'Tyrolean' feel. Our room was above the kitchens and there was some general noise from equipment operating there, but fortunately not later in the evening though. Some families with children were a bit noisy in the morning. All in all we felt it was a touch expensive for what it was.
Excellent staff in restaurant and lobby. Despite some staff had problems to speek English they were able to call colleagues that were fluent in English. I also like large room and sitting corner in the room + large bathroom+ extra towels for spa packed in a nice bag. The corners around the bath were full of black mildew ( I assume due to wet environment and insufficient cleaning). Information leaflets in the room were in French and English version was missing.
The hotel was beautiful, the staff was friendly, the resturaunt was wonderful!
silence, location , the park with river near the hotel , good breakfast we take 2 rooms , 1 room was perfect and the other room the cleanroom put a wool blanket and at night it was cold outside and i asked a heavy blanket , i asked from the reception and they brought to me a one blanket without sheet cover on it ' the next day i asked from the reception to change the blanket and it didn't happended . only the last day the cleanroom brought the couple blanket after i asked from her personally.
The owners of the hotel were very friendly, the food was excellent. the hotel was clean with plenty hot water for a lovely bath after skiing. Highly recommended - excellent value for money No
The service and the restaurant were excellent. We felt very comfortable and welcomed. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.
The Hotel was the perfect value for money stay, extraordinary friendly staff, very nice and spacious rooms
the locatioun in nature one could not eat "à la carte ", there was only one menu disponible
The accommodation is excellent, all rooms are brand new and in good working order. Carpeting is new and rooms are cleaned and serviced every day. The wall hung flat screen tv is also new. Nothing comes to mind to dislike. We missed bbc World, but made do with cnn.
We liked the friendly, helpful staff and the interesting fellow guests. The room was clean, comfortable and everything worked. Breakfasts and dinners were an experience requiring plenty of exercise There was no choice of menu in the evening although the food was excellent.
Friendly staff, excellent dinner, excellent price, comfortable room, free wireless connection in the room, modern bathroom.
Quiet spot in the mountains! Martine is the most efficient, hardworking woman we ever met. She made our stay special. Clean rooms, lift and fantastic food at reasonable rates. Out of the way, but charming and highly recommended by the six people who really enjoyed the time here! Nothing!
Everything was ok, except for the spa. It's a nice spa, it's just never open. The spa facilities close at 19:00, and the sauna and hammam never seem to be open at all. The jacuzzi was on the cool side, but I guess they don't really expect anyone to use it... :(
The best was the location (that it is high in the mountains) and the restaurant with the local dinner and the breakfast. The upper beads of the ''lits superposes'' in two quadruple rooms were not suitable for children because there was nothing on them to protect children from falling down from the bed. The ''spa'' part of the hotel was closed at 7 p.m.
The hotel is a quiet place. Very good sxervicies. Excellent hotel staff. Cleanliness was questionable. I had the same towels an entire week!
The Grand Hotel benefits from a good situation amid a wonderful environment, but it needs some critical evaluation by its management: our room was not really tidy and the sheets were torn. Breakfast was not good: bread rolls were not daily fresh, only 1 choice of meat, only 1 choice of cheese (herb cheese) and the eggs were frozen. Not a good publicity for their restaurant, where we didn't have dinner because of that bad breakfast.
Good dinner menu for very good prices. practical apartment with kitchen we can use. Difficult to communicate if you do not know french - good there was one staff who can understand and talk english a bit. We expected to live in a hotel room and not in an apartment outside the hotel but it is ok.
Excellent Value, Friendly Staff, Good location
Swimmingpool in the garden. Small kitchen in the rooms - at least we used the fridge. Breakfast in what looked like a 'school cantina' - noicy, not much to chose from at breakfast - too expensive. The bedrooms was like dorms with bunkbeds. Hard to find a good restaurant in the neighbourhood.
They were pet friendly. They were also able to provide a baby cot and had high chairs in breakfast room. The bathroom in our room was appalling, there was a foul smell of mold. It was so bad we avoided using it and did not use the shower. We had booked the Studio room as it was supposed to have a kitchenette. There was a sink and microwave but no utensils, not even a glass or cup.
Not the big luxury, but small price was ok Needs a bit of refurbishing
The room was fantastic for a family, small kitchenette, nice view, very clean pool, games for the kids, very comfortable ambience. good deal for the dinner buffet. Very enjoyable stay in a nice town close to the wine route. We would have liked to stay longer. One of the beds in the room had a very bad spring, the other beds were either too soft or too hard. The kids didn't care. Need to ask the hotel before arrival if you will want to use the kitchenette so that they will provide utensils and plates. We had to wait one night before we could get the stuff.
Great location in the Alsace countryside Room was not well furnished - no TV, no RadioNo staff spoke English- surely a prerequisite for such accomodation providers
Comfortable room with kitchenette, excellent hiking in the area, back in the woods, a real break from our busy life. Excellent chef at hotel's restaurant. Fun ranch animals, and great to pick fresh cherries in the yard.
This hotel is surrounded by woods, really peaceful environment. We stayed in the great and comfortable family rooms. Good (local) dishes served in hotel. Hotel may not be ideal with young active children around 3 years.
Out of the way, perfect setting, good food and friendly owners who were there if required. Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Very small point but the room we had did not have a tv and we did begin to feel a little cut off from the world towards the end of the week, although not big tv watchers it would have been nice at times during the evening.
We arrived pretty late and the owner happily made us up some food and drinks, despite the restuarant being closed
Nice and spacious appartment, peaceful surroundings and a relaxed athmosphere. Do not expect a hotel feeling, it's more like coming home to somebody. All the animals were fun for the children, as well as the huge outdoor area. Family friendly. The appartment was too cold and the heating was locked so we couldn't turn it up to max. Be aware that you have to pay extra for the use of the kitchen. The road up to the hotel is narrow and windy, and several cars had problems since the road was covered with snow.
Domaine De Basil is a friendly and well-kept establishment in a beautifull and secluded location which is even more lovely than the numerous photos on the website can show. We very much appreciated the en-site restaurant (lovely cuisine of Alsace). The resident animals add to the charm. We would go back and definitely stay longer next time, using this auberge as a base for touring the area. Although I like them, I am allergic to both dogs and cats. I experienced no problem with our room (so I am assuming that the standard of cleaning is very high if dogs had been in the room). If someone were phobic about dogs and cats, then they would probably be uncomfortable. I found the owners pets to be charming and well-behaved. We would miss having a tv for news, etc. if staying longer.
the surroundings were amazing! Although you need a taxi to go somwhere, we really enjoyed it.
