Pros: Great view, great breakfast, comfortable beds, clean room and helpful friendly proprietress.
Cons: Shared bathroom but not a problem.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful host ! Great breakfast! Superb . Highly recommended
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional hospitality and wonderful home cooking. I hope I can manage back one day. It is a little out of the centre but this suited me since it is a peaceful and quiet location. Thus a perfect location if you have a car but good too if, like me, you rely on public transport because the bus-stop is a 5 minute walk away and Stornoway centre is easily walkable if you're reasonably fit. I was there on a Sunday too when there are no buses but I took a leisurely walk to the nearby castle where the cafe was open and had a stroll round the grounds. Overall a very pleasant stay
Cons: I read one or two reviews that said the single room was small. Yes, it may not be the biggest but it is certainly more than adequate, especially considering the care, attention to detail (teasmaid i.e kettle with tea bags/biscuits always restocked) and hospitality shown. Also, I appreciate BnBs which offer single rooms - not all of them do! We should be grateful to BnB owners on islands because without them, the choice would be camping or very expensive hotels! :D
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Very clean. Excellent food. Highly recommend the chicken with mango. Lovely host.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast. Our host was really nice. Thank you.

Pros: Very well appointed room with quality furnishings and perfectly clean. Breakfast excellent, high quality products used and piping hot.
Cons: An en suite bathroom would have made this the perfect room however the shared bathroom was fabulous!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly warm welcome, easy parking, clean spacious room - full breakfast and good selection of cold items as well - large shared bathroom with a shower and bath
10.0 Excellent

The room had a full size fridge and a supermarket across the road to keep it stocked. The breakfast was excellent and the husband & wife owners made me feel very welcome

Cons: Just about everything was perfect, but if we had to pick something we'd ask for a little less fragrance in the bedroom.

Pros: The BnB is part of the couples home and they are the loveliest hosts you will ever meet. The location is nice and quiet in a suburban street but still close enough to the main shopping area as well as transport around and off the Island. The single room is gorgeous and the ensuite is huge. They went out of their way to help with transport to the airport and other aspects of my stay.
Cons: Not much to dislike here.

Although it was a single room, it had a sofa and large tv, reading material, ample wardrobe space and the en suite was spacious containing a bath and separate large shower. You will find a coffee machine and a kettle in the room. Each room has a shared bathroom. You will find a shared kitchen at the property. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Generous, warm hospitality. Excellent peaceful location. Spacious, comfortable, well equipped room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The site said no meals were provided but there was a box of cereal, milk, bread, butter and jam and fruit provided. This was especially helpful on our second morning as we had to leave very early for the ferry. Allison said we could use her kitchen but I wasn't comfortable doing that especially for two nights. She also provided a huge dish of various chocolate bars and cookies which we enjoyed along with tea in the evenings.
Cons: It was very difficult to find. Allison explained that she has contacted the GPS system to try to remedy this but to no avail. A sign at the main intersection and at the end of her driveway would also be helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is just amazing, she is very welcoming, friendly, helpful.. all the positive aspects, she is them all. my friends and I had an excellent time here, we were glad we stayed 2 nights, so we could enjoy the place. The amenities are incredible, a lot more than a hotel room. Totally recommended!!
5.4 Okay
Pros: "Room by the beach" is unfortunately more "the room where you will not see the beach". I it not far away but I still find the naming misleading. There was a lot of food and chocolates to be eaten by the guests prepared in the room. Free parking just next to room. Bathroom was clean.
Cons: Our overall impression was rather negative. Location is definitely not what we expected - we expected beach at a sight. Actually you have to walk 10 minutes to reach it. There is nothing to do around and I suppose that staying in Stornoway would be way better idea. The room was very cold and a bit wet. By check-out I even found a bit of mold on the bottom side of the bed (but really just a bit, not to make it worse than it was). The furniture is the same as on the picture - but the one making the pictures made sure everything looked way better than in reality. Wardrobe "kitchen" (aka microwave and toaster in wardrobe) cannot be called shared kitchen, as stated in the room description. Moreover, microwave usage even increased the wetness of the room. The house as such felt creepy to both me and my husband and my feeling of comfort was maintained only by locking our room door. But sure, this is very subjective matter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable, our host was welcoming and made sure we had everything we required, from milk to a chocolate bar
Cons: Nothikg
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and had all we needed.

Cons: N/A
9.6 Excellent

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Modern and comfortable. Stornaway amenities a few minute walk away.
Cons: Early ferry meant foregoing a cooked breakfast. Packed breakfast provided a bit basic.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Booked last minute due to an oversite with other accommodation. Staff very friendly. I was leaving early in the morning and would miss breakfast so they made me a to go bag which was very thoughtful.p
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house itself feels like a home and the owners are genuinely friendly - making you feel like the only guest. You can easily walk into the town, which is filled with friendly people. The house is very clean and I slept like a rock on the comfortable bed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Spotless clean, nice owners, great breakfast!
Cons: Location is ok’ish, but not something that can be easily changed...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was superb. The bed was blissfully comfortable, as good as our own bed, which is the best tribute I can pay.
Cons: The bathroom was small and the shower was a tight squeeze. I had thought that the stairs = no lift = would be a problem, but I managed them.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable Helpful staff Nice furnishings
Cons: Nothing really
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Superb B&B, nicely appointed suite in which we felt totally comfortable. Spotless.
Cons: Nothing. Paul was also a great host.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very friendly atmosphere and helpful staff when asking for places to visit or if any issues great options for breakfast. will definitely stay again
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect for getting to any of the popular sights on the island. It was also easy to drive downtown and park there if walking was not of interest.
Cons: Everything was great! I'd suggest one enhancement: A blackout shade on the window, because summer sunrise is around 4 a.m.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful owner; beds very comfortable.
Cons: The bedroom we had, and a corridor, had sloping ceilings which were not ideal for a tall guest. Great black pudding but the rest of the cooked breakfast was a bit uninspired.

7.9 Good
Pros: Gear location ideal for an overnight stay and front facing room, great friendly hotel with parking!
Cons: Great hotel base however hotel was very hot - no air conditioning and noisy in the morning with people leaving - doors banging and pipes sing when you use the shower. Hotel was tired and could do with a face lift.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was very nice. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant HS-1 Cafe Bar that is attached to the hotel was very good!
Cons: Cant think of anything.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good location for ferry terminal, if you’re planning to be on an early ferry out.
Cons: Most expensive night I spent in the Hebrides and probably least comfortable bed - mattress sloped and had to sleep on it diagonally. Not recommended if you’re cycling (especially if there were three or four of you). No secure bike storage - and not something they’ve come up with a proper solution for. Better trying somewhere else.
7.5 Good
Pros: Barman really helpful. Food good.
Cons: Shower temperature was just tepid
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was as expected of a Royal Hotel - rooms were clean and beds were comfy. Restaurant was overbooked........which means it is good.......
Cons: We have no complaints
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent restaurant which I had eaten at a few days before also when staying at a different B&B so was more than happy to be back here for some more terrific food. Accomodation is very good as was the breakfast the following morning.
Cons: The rain!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Stopped two nights. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was very large, full of character, clean and comfortable and had a fantastic view of the river and Lewes Castle. The bathroom was clean and well-kept. The WiFi connection was good, the 2 restaurants served well-cooked and reasonably priced food and the breakfast was plentiful. Lovely location and views. Would stop here again. Warning: The main meals in the Boatshed restaurant are huge, so you may want to go through the menu backwards - we started with soup and were pretty full on them alone!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, excellent breakfast and very good staff.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Staff were very friendly. Lovely view of castle. The restaurant was very nice and breakfast was excellent. Comparing hotel room to the restaurant was like being in two different hotels.
Cons: Our hotel room was VERY tired which is not reflected in the price. We were in Room 31. Carpet very stained. Furniture worn, chipped and dated. Ensuite very small and in VERY poor condition. (It was clean though) Toilet very badly positioned, too close to sink and could cause problems for larger guests.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: I'm sorry to say but this hotel is vastly over priced and was unacceptable in every way. We stayed in a guest house in Skye the previous night. It was £60 cheaper and it was absolutely perfect.
Cons: Basically everything could have been better.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Vastly overpriced. They take advantage that there is no "good" competition.
Cons: Price £165.00 per night.London is cheaper !
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff are very friendly and highly professional. The food was wonderful and the Stornoway black pudding lived up to the hype!
Cons: It’s an older hotel so a little tired in places and the bathroom needs a little TLC.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was of good comfort
Cons: Evening meal was really poor
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were helpful and friendly
Cons: My husband ordered braised lamb but roast beef arrived . He wasn’t bothered and enjoyed it , he didn’t want to make a fuss as he probably would have had to wait longer .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff who went out of their way to accommodate us. We had a small dog and a table was set up outwith the restuarant so it could be with us during meal times.
Cons: Nothing adverse to say. Couldn't fault our stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As the Scots would say, this was a "right proper" accommodation. Everything was 1st rate from check-in to check-out.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. I had a few problems to do with the ferry (and possibly having to extend my stay) and then also leaving items in the room when I left (which had to be posted on), all of this was dealt with very efficiently and pleasantly. Great experience!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: All in all, very clean, comfortable good meal, and dog friendly
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: Central location. Very pleasant staff. Dog friendly- no charge. Fairly reasonable given the area. Excellent buffet style breakfast. Big, free car park. Good bathroom with bath and shower.
Cons: Economy rooms have no window, just a skylight without clear glass. Good size and well lit but it is nice to see out, otherwise one feels hemmed in. Recommend one choses the carvery dinner over the à la carte, which wasn't very good. The carvery looked good and very good value- wish we'd chosen that.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Got to store my bike inside.
Cons: This hotel is a disgrace! Charging £90 for a nights bed & breakfast, knowing that no-one who's leaving to catch the 07.00 ferry isn't going to be eating at 05.00hrs! They only offer a continental breakfast at this time & it's not takeaway either! The bar, that's just a counter within the mess-hall is poorly stocked, with little variety unless you're a cider or lager drinker. The restaurant, that's just a big mess-hall, where residents have to que up like school children to be served at a buffet servery, is dull, poorly furnished and completely without any atmosphere that would entice anyone outwith the age-group of those wearing beige from head to foot to eat here. The hotel entrance is acceptable & the cheery young woman on the reception was very pleasant in her greeting. But once away from the foyer, this places appeal plummets! The hallways are dull, with dark stained furniture from a forgotten century, badly marked, scratched & chipped fire doors, patched carpeting & decor from the last century again. Once navigated through this rats maze of dreariness, I then had the distinct displeasure of entering my room. It had a weird smell, was of the same poor, plain & uninspiring decor from last century that the rest of this dive has. The same awful, dark, cheap, featureless furniture that appears in the hallways, gawdy brass light fittings, a threadbare bedspread, so faded it was almost beige too! Windows so filthy, that outside wasn't visible until I'd actually opened the rotten, stain-flaked, mouldy frames. The view, to my delight was that of a concrete/asbestos sheet roof & a large industrial yard, which to my further delight was noisy & brightly floodlit the whole night! Sleep did not come easy!
6.3 Good
Pros: We had to leave early to catch a ferry but the cold continental breakfast provided was adequate.
Cons: The room rate of £150 was excessive for a very basic and small rom.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The location
Cons: The room: dirty, burn marks on the curtains, stain on the bedside lampshade, filthy noisy fan in the bathroom, window frame falling away - screwed closed so unable to open or adjust (assistant manager informed us "yes they are being replaced"), old mattress with uncomfortable feeling from buttons. Restaurant - advised at reception to attend later in the evening at 20.00 hours to avoid two busy coach load sessions - inappropriate low level table initially offered on arrival - extended wait, service deteriorated as time progressed - lack of staff serving food and were observed having their own meals from the carvery counter. Breakfast - 7.30 - 9.30: again attended after the coach loads as advised, at 09.00 am having viewed the buffett due to the poor quality and range of the breakfast when fresh food was requested - staff abruptly and rudely advised "well you've come at the end its too late" Assistant manager Angus informed of all difficulties - attempted to tell us that all these problems are not the normal standard and that the problems in the restaurant are his main concern. We were offered nothing in terms of compensation or the resolving of problems. we will never recommend this hotel to others - it was not only filthy, outdated and made us feel very uncomfortable - but it was also clearly focused on those visiting as part of a coach tour whom were certainly given priority in what appeared to be every area.

10.0 Excellent

Cons: The beds were uncomfortable and definitely not a king. Pillows need changing!
