Pros: Very clean, best matress ever, super host. Real recommendation!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Close to all the beaches, the room was in perfect condition. Jacuzzi was well functioning and perfect!
Cons: Stefan the owner was a bit shy and we had the feeling either he was uncomfortable speaking French or didn't like us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely stunning house
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: A very interesting and unusual building which has been beautifully furnished and restored. The host was very helpful and full of useful advice and tips.
Cons: The rooms we were in suffered from noise from the rooms above - it is an old building with very creaky floorboards and you could hear every footstep of those upstairs and some people arrived very late at night so we were woken both at night and in the morning. Our room lacked privacy - the bathroom and toilet were along a corridor and opposite the stairs which led to the upstairs rooms and also just across from the host's office so you risked getting caught in a state of undress on your way back to your bedroom. The lighting in the corridor was very poor and at floor level- we had to use a torch to find the keyhole to our room in the evening and to go along to the toilet during the night. Our experience may have been better in the upstairs rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A well located beautiful hotel with excellent service and facilities. The breakfast was superb.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is such a stunning property, immaculately renovated in a beautiful small village off the beaten track. We had experienced a stressful day with a hire car breakdown just down the road, and our host Stefan drove to check on us when we advised we would be late as a result. We stayed in the “attic” which was a sizeable room, with a very large bathroom. Breakfast was lovely and Stefan took the time to give us advice on places to visit on the next leg of our journey (in excellent English for two Australians who are unable to speak French!) A beautiful place to stay in a lovely little French village. Highly recommend.
Cons: All perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stephan was great - very personable and knowledgeable and helpful you couldn’t ask for more in a host! The property was fantastic, you can tell a labor of love from Stephan’s renovation to the lovely breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had the room on the attick. The room was very big. It had an annex bathroom which was very big also. The bathroom had a walk-in shower. The owner is very friendly. There is also a sauna and jacuzzi. Downstairs is a big and comfortable living room/dining room. All very clean and with a very tastefull interior .
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room and bathroom. The owner has renovated the house beautifully. Pretty village with local pizzeria was a bonus. Great breakfast. Close to the coast and convenient for the ferry port.
Cons: The road through the village was quite noisy at night and therefore difficult to sleep as we needed the windows open due to the heat. This may not be a problem if the windows are closed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was very nice. Location was very quiet
Cons: maybe tea/coffee facilities in the room

Pros: Wow wow wow. We have just had the absolute pleasure of spending a week with Laurence and Christian, in their most beautiful, welcoming home. We always check reviews before we go places and never had we seen such high reviews anywhere. Needless to say everyone of them was right. The holiday itself was to be very different to our standard hotels in varies places in the world and we were excited. Laurence and Christian welcomed us into their home like we were old friends. I can only describe their company as comfortable and easy. Their stunning Normandy home and acres are a blissful inside into French country life. Their home is filled with life and love. I had huge veg patch envy with Laurence's allotment of varied organic fruits and vegetables, which may I add you have the pleasure of tasting with all of her meals (including breakfast). Which leads me onto her cooking. She is amazing, everything is homemade, which I wholeheartedly appreciate being an avid cook. Something I loved more than anything in the week we spent together was that we didn't have to choose from a huge, vast menu. Laurence simply cooks an authentic French cuisine with fruit and vegetables from her own lovingly cared for garden and all other meats and cheeses are locally sourced in Normandy. Rick Stiens would be envious of our stay! Christian and Laurence even have their own bees, what more can I say. Our party varied in age my youngest is 17 months, oldest is 10 years and we went with my in laws. ALL ages are catered for. Everything you need is on site. The decor inside the building is stunning, faultless and of a very high standard. I would most definitely say luxury accommodation. The buildings themselves date back to the 1600's, which were picture perfect. Our children were in heaven with the animals. Donkey's George and Arthur. D-day the cat, the chickens and chicks and cheeky Nicky the goat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely relaxing BnB with options for great home cooked dinner and lunch if we wanted (which we did!). Laurance and Christian have created a super place to stay where you are very much welcomed into their home and extensive gardens, with a stream running through. Laurence’s home cooked food using many home grown organic vegetables is delicious. Nothing was any trouble and we were able to go anywhere on the property and grounds at our leisure. Our large room with kitchenette was in a former ‘boulangerie’ - a separate building with views and door facing the garden. Ideal for the 2 night stay with our large dog. Thanks Christian for putting the World Cup football on the TV in the lounge during our stay! A lovely short stay on our trip back home. We recommend.
Cons: Nothing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, great location, very nice room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and personable owners and beautiful grounds and design. Will definitely come back and stay longer next time.
Cons: Ended up changing the accomodation I had booked to a smaller house but owners comped excellent dinner and breakfast to make up for it. Only bad thing was we only stayed one night!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We are beyond grateful to have had such a wonderful experience at absolutely lovely, Les Chambres de Capucine! The owners, Laurence and Christian are a beautiful couple that made us feel right at home. The passion and love they have for sharing their home resonates through all they do. I've never been so relaxed, so spoiled, and slept so well at any other accommodation in all my travels. Laurence is Superwoman! She does it all, and tremendously well with a smile. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit, warm eggs and homemade scones each morning. We requested dinner each night and were blown away with how scrumptious it was and that she even suggested and prepared a different meal for our kids as well, simply amazing! Three different types of homemade quiches with veggies from the garden, fresh salad greens dressed perfectly, homemade organic pumpkin soup, local cheeses, melon panna cotta, chicken with mushroom calvados sauce and creamy potatoes, homemade mushroom risotto, and a divine apple tart with the most delicious buttery crust, just to name a few! We were spoiled to say the least. Les Chambres de Capucine is incredibly charming. The property is set in the gorgeous countryside with lush greenery, stunning flowers, and a flowing river. Our room, in our own stone cottage, was very comfortable and beautifully decorated with a modern, rustic interior and a lovely patio to enjoy the picturesque beauty surrounding us. We slept so soundly, including the kids, and woke to birds chirping and roosters crowing, opened our shutters and enjoyed the fresh country breeze while enjoying our coffee each morning. Our kids loved the animals on property! Two donkeys, George and Arthur, a goat named Nikki, and lots of hens and roosters. Two cats came to visit our room and let us pet them on our window sill. Every morning and every night before bed, the kids would visit them to say hello. They even got to feed them.
Cons: We were sad to leave.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hosts, the ambience. Magical setting. La musique de la riviere. Laurence and co are so warm, relaxed and friendly - very special.
Cons: We were a little cramped as a family of 4 in la boulangerie. Would want to stay in the bigger self catering house next time
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Site was great with the river backdrop, and the self contained studio unit we stayed in was well fitted out. Donkeys, cats, hens, vegetable garden, bee hives gave lots of other items of interest around site. Also outdoor hot tub. We loved it here as base for travel at end of campsite holiday further east
Cons: Additional meals felt a little over priced at €28 and €15 for children but to be fair they were 3 courses and freshly made, and it was great to have this option available on day of arrival as you would otherwise have to travel into Bayeux for food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beauty and serenity of this property is incredible. I so enjoyed the grounds, the river where my husband actually fished (and caught some), the livestock nearby and walking through the tiny Carcagny village. The meals were delicious! Laurence is an awesome host...so welcoming, so knowledgeable, so accommodating. We are so happy we found this beautiful place.
Cons: We are used to having hand towels and wash cloths in addition to bath towels so we missed that but got along without them.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff Fantastic! Great place to stay while in Normandy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts, Laurence and Christian, were extremely friendly and accommodating. We decided to dine in on 2 occasions and absolutely loved the experience, especially at eating at the family dining table with the hosts and other guests. The food was exceptionally and was all home cooked with local and home grown produce. We also enjoyed watching the World Cup with Christian in the lounge area and trying their great beer and wine selection! The location is also really good, in a nice quiet area, about 10 mins drive from Bayeux. I would highly recommend this place and we will definitely be going back!
Cons: No issues at all!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Receptionist really welcoming and helpful. Central location. Clean and tidy eastablishment
Cons: Parking on site would be nice but as It is in the city an understandable situation. Perhaps a concise indication of the parking available nearby would be good. E g. Free on street parking after 1900 until 09-30 the next day.
7.0 Good
Pros: The owner was very accommodating about check in. She had sent an email with he code to enter the front door, unfortunately we were traveling and did not get it. When we arrived it was after checking time, but she had a phone number posted and when we called she provided the code and then came down to greet us, even though she had already laid out the keys for our room on the desk. A very pleasant experience for us.
Cons: It would have been nice to have a fan in the room as it was a hot summer night, there is no A/C and street noise prevents you from sleeping with the windows open. With the windows closed it is very quiet. Also it would be a nice touch to provide a few extra pillows in the rooms. It would definitely add to the comfort of the room.

The host and owner was extremely helpful, awaiting our late arrival from the ferry and helping us to find nearby street parking.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were extremely nice and helpful. Everything was spotlessly clean and aesthetic. Elana’s breakfast was very delicious and generous. We enjoyed sitting at breakfast and talking to the other visitors. We had a really lovely stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Elena is a very nice host, breakfast was awesome, and there's a fantastic cat named Casper. Cats at hotels always get an extra plus from me.
Cons: My booking.com info said check-in was from 4pm which was when I arrived, but it seems check-in was from 5pm so a little confusion there, but no big deal. I never read reviews before making a booking, and the hotel was more of an Airbnb experience than Bed & Breakfast, ie like staying in someone's home. I wouldn't have chosen this option if I'd have known in advance (just personal preference), but everything was great anyway.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The host is very helpful and friendly.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Elena made a nice breakfast (fresh crossaints, pain du chocolat, yoghurt, fruit), welcomed us very nicely and the place was cosy - the double rooms are in the house where the hosts also live, we stayed in a small separate house which contains two family rooms (on the left in the dinner photo). There was everything - double bed + upper bed of the bunk, nice bathroom, table and kitchen with all supplies. We made dinner and enjoyed it in the garden. The value for money is superb.
Cons: The room is quite tight, but it wasn’t a problem for us.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: Need to wait to long at the gate Very small room
7.5 Good
Pros: Exceptionally clean and welcoming once in the property.
Cons: Rear door lock for some reason couldn’t get out and hosts couldn’t speak English!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and pleasant owners and Elena makes great brekfast! Nice and quiet area. Beautiful cat!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, well-located property with welcoming hostess and host. All worked as hoped and breakfast was typically continental- surprising, eh?
Cons: The sofa was tricky. Sit on it and it could flip out from underneath you. Though perhaps that was part of the fun.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good reception Very nice home Well located Good breakfast
Cons: It's a pity to not get the possibility to cook Expected departure time too early (to my mind)

Cons: All was fine.

Pros: Large room and bed. Shower room & size of shower also good. Air-con worked well meaning we didn't need window open (overlooked road which would have been noisy). Very well sound-proofed. Breakfast was good - maybe a little more choice of cereals would have been even better. There was muesli or the inevitable chocolate-covered cereal. Good value at 7€10. Excellent location for Le Mémorial de Caen. We were able to walk there and spent well over 3 hours there. La Boucherie Restaurant next door is ok for an evening meal, although not a lot of choice if you dont like beef or burgers.

Pros: Our hosts were friendly, kind and thoughtful. We appreciated the personal tour of the farm and our girls were able to pet the bunnies and feed the goats and horses. A wonderful place to escape to after our days visiting the beaches of Normandy. The accommodations were perfect for our family of four. Very clean and well appointed (including games and books for the children). We sat out on the lounging chairs each evening watching the sun set over the horse pastures. Heaven! Before booking, I had been concerned about farm smells, but rest assured there were absolutely none and I must admit to this being one of cleanest run operations I've seen. A must-visit location for all animal lovers.
Cons: A little bit out of the way.. which is a bonus to enjoy the peace and quiet of country living!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great property owners, who are very hospitable and kind! Our the best experience during traveling. Very good location - nature, clean fresh air, horses are walking around the “house”. You will have outside space with table, chairs and everything equipped for having a barbecue. Inside the “house” you will find double bed for two, also two single beds, table, chairs, mini kitchen with totally everything for cooking, shower, WC, washbasin. Everything was clean and in good condition. Owners also provided us a baby bed for 2yo kid. Kids friendly place. Perfect atmosphere of countryside vacation is guaranteed! 100% recommend!

Pros: It was a beautiful authentic place in a peaceful location. The host was friendly and very helpful. For a reasonable price the host prepared a nice 4-course dinner for us, which was shared with him and his sister. We would definitely stay there again!
Cons: The wifi wasn’t working correctly. It should be mentioned that although the location is beautiful it is also secluded and there are not many facilities (like restaurants) nearby.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was ideal for D Day locations - reason for my trip . Friendly welcome on arrival . Excellent breakfast before departure . Super service - ironed my shirt before an important official event .
Cons: Was in the attic - mind your head . So downstairs next time .
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location for visiting the WW2 landing beaches and museums. Quiet village setting. We were there on one of the hottest days of the year but the very thick stone walls of the room kept it reasonably cool. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner was good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately restaurant was closed one evening due to a bereavement but the nice young girl who checked us in cycled into the village centre to make sure the local pizza restaurant would be open, It was a 10 minute walk and we had very decent pizza and burger.
Cons: We had the accessible room on the ground floor. As said above it was reasonably cool despite 40+C temperature. NIce big wet room. A couple of things though. There was no table or anywhere else to put our odds and ends on. The bedding was a very thick and heavy winter weight duvet. As it was such a hot night we took the duvet out of the cover and just used the cover. I wish hotels would adapt the bedding to the season more.

Pros: Great
Cons: Closed for dinner Sunday and Monday

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The bed was comfortable despite poor quality bed linen.
Cons: We were shocked to arrive and have to walk across a unstable plank with our cases to get into the hotel. No apology for the terrible state whatsoever from the staff. The standard was well below a 4 star and we felt cheated by the description given. Our money has already been taken an no refund allowable so we really had no option. The room was ok but of a 1/2 star standard. The bathroom was poorly equipped with no body lotion etc just one tub of multi use soap for hair, body etc..what you would expect from a low end chain hotel. Over all very poor and a really disappointing stay which will never be repeated.

Pros: Air con and lovely staff
Cons: All was good

Pros: The city is a great location from which to explore the Normandy sights. Staff at the hotel were very helpful.
Cons: Beyond the control of the hotel but right outside the hotel roadworks were going on all day. However the hotel did email prior to arrival informing us of the works so it was expected albeit just before.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff went out of their way to make you comfortable, great location from all the Normandy beaches
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Desk clerks were great.
Cons: Could be updated.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, immaculately clean room & facilities
Cons: Nothing really wrong, but the hotel lacks some character
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The most important part of the hotel is its staff - and here the staff was SUPERB! Many thanks for all the tips provided and also explanation of the history! The room was super clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was good. It is definitely a superb choice for visiting Caen also because of the location - right in the centre with many restaurants around and convenient car parking.

Cons: Nothing not to like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and friendly staff! We stayed for one night with our two year old and everything was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The continental breakfast was excellent value for money, the full buffet breakfast i found it a little expensive. However the staff was always extremely helpful and the room was spotless. The location is fantastic: in the very center of all the stores for the shoppers & within walking distance from the only old street of Caen saved from the 2nd WW which has a variety of restaurants. Next to the hotel there is a fantastic "restaurant gastronomique", called La chambre, very convinient if you don't want to walk around for you last evening. The food, the atmosphere & the staff were excellent. This is a hotel i will return gladly if i happen to stay in Caen again.
Cons: Very few parking places in the hotel's car park. It should be mention on the reservation somewhere in bold letters about the parking being limited within the hotel spaces.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: No grab bars for bath /shower and having to climb into a high bathtub to shower without treads in bathtub.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely loved this hotel. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly and made our stay as comfortable as possible. Excellent location in the centre of Caen. Really comfortable room and nicely decorated.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quirky and brilliantly comfortable. The staff are fantastic even saving us a parking space near to our room. The correspondence was spot on and they even printed off our Versailles tickets for us. Great hotel and staff who really do understand what good customer services should be. Lovely bar/restaurant area comfy sofas and reasonable prices.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was easily accessible from the ferry port. The outside looked a bit quirky but shouldn’t be put off by that as the room was spotlessly clean and fresh, bedding and towels clean and not tired looking. Bed and pillows very comfortable . In all a great place to stay
Cons: The outside could be off putting to some people but I thought it was in keeping with the surrounding area, so loved that too
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were looking for somewhere near Caen with good parking. Our experience greatly exceeded our expectations. Food was excellent and good value, and staff were really helpful
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really quirky hotel Fantastic amount of space in the rooms The staff were VERY helpful Food was amazing. Perfect location for the port
8.8 Excellent
Pros: All the staff were very friendly and helpful, with excellent english spoken. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. There was good parking availability, and the site was quiet.
Cons: I would have liked a external viewer hole in the outside door to enable me to see who was outside before opening the door.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Big rooms with a comfortable bed and pillows; the bathroom was also of a good size with a great shower. The buffet breakfast was varied and of good quality and the staff were always available to answer any questions. Also handy is the super market, petrol station next to the hotel and it's only 10-15 mins from the centre of Caen.
Cons: The WiFi did not work within the rooms or for some of the team within the reception area. The staff tried to rectify this however it did not get resolved during our stay; we stayed one night and all members of the group were very happy with the service received.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable hotel . Staff very helpful
6.8 Good
Pros: The breakfast was good
Cons: This is not a proper hotel in that it is difficult to get a good night's sleep here. We stayed here two nights and were woken up three times each night by people talking loudly as they passed the bedroom and vehicles moving in the car park late at night. The problem is the poor design of the building complex and the bedrooms: 1. The carpark is positioned too close to many bedrooms and every vehicle movement is heard. Good design separates rooms from vehicles. 2. The footpaths from reception and car parks go past the bedrooms and all noise from passerbys can be heard. 3. This is because you have to have the French window open or you suffocate. The rooms are hot and airless and the air conditioning only blew out warm air. So, with no option but to open the window all noise is heard. 4. This hotel has a policy of leaving its bar open until 1am and encourages people to disturb sleepers late at night. Proper hotels encourage no noise or movement between 2300 and 0700. A hotel is defined by creating a quiet space to be in, where you can sleep. This hotel does not do this and hence is not a hotel. We did not sleep here much over two nights. A suggestion. Managers and designers of this hotel should try out the bedrooms for two nights and see how they feel after having little or no sleep. Perhaps then they can re-design the hotel as a hotel.

Pros: Nice Chateau with friendly staff. We had a Deluxe room wich was nice and clean. Dinner was good but at a very high price. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, and in our opinion not 5-star-hotel worthy.
Cons: Breakfast could be better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely chateau with charming rooms.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located in a beautiful park and surrounded by all sorts of gardens. Superb in every way; a guest is treated as a real king or queen.
Cons: The price of the breakfast and drinks is rather high. In case of "eating out", you have to go by car, since there are no other restaurants close by.

Pros: Very clean and convenient hotel, with friendly staff and very nice complimentary continental breakfast. Staff were friendly and the parking was included.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Modern, minimalistic and urban in the otherwise romantic Caen.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a family room which was two adjoining rooms. Two twins and a double room. Both with bathrooms. Beats the usual uncomfortable sofa bed and we had separate rooms to the kids. Beds were comfortable and rooms were spotlessly clean. The one up the road was £100 more and would have been a single family room. We went to the memorial museum which was fantastic (all about WWII)could spend a good few hours there.
Cons: Not much. It is a functional hotel rather than anything stylish. Don’t expect lots of frills or tons of character.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Close to train station and restaurants/shopping mall within walking distance. If you are just looking for a place to sleep with no extra fancy amenities then this hotel is fine.
Cons: No parking at hotel so you need to use the public underground parking garage. Parking is validated from 6pm to 9am. No restaurant on site. Breakfast is limited. Cereal, fruit, pastries, cheese, etc but no full breakfast choice. First room I checked into had broken AC. Initial reply from front desk was to open the window. Asked to transfer to a new room.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Value for money: Breakfast is included, where others charge up to 11 euros. Also included is the parking garage nextdoor between 18:00-9:00. Inlcude the large rooms and excellent WiFi, this is a graat deal !!
Cons: Reaching the entrance over the traimrails and the pedestrians zone is somewhat difficult on a motorcycle
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and efficiency.
Cons: Not much.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in very close walking distance to the train/bus stations as well as to the bus stops for the airport bus. A lovely area on the Orne and close to many restaurants, cinema and a shopping mall. Most staff were helpful in giving directions to needed places as I didn't have a smartphone or if they weren't, they told me when somebody else would be available who could help me. I had an upgraded room which had a bath as well as a shower and a wonderful view towards the river and town with great sunsets. I loved the relaxation corner in reception where you could make yourself a free cup of tea or coffee and help yourself to biscuits or fresh fruit. Breakfast is varied and plentiful although the only cooked options are boiled eggs and toast. Good value for money.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A really comfortable bed in a quiet room. The hotel location is ideal for arrival by train or by bus from the airport at Caen Carpiquet. The new trams now pass in front of the hotel. The river location is relaxing The breakfast is varied and good value for money with lovely fresh bread, fresh fruit salad and good coffee as well as cheeses, ham, boiled eggs, pastries etc. I loved the fact that you can make a tea or coffee when you want at no extra cost in the reception area as well as helping oneself to a biscuit or a piece of fruit. Staff were usually helpful and knowledgeable. There are many good restaurants nearby for lunch or evening meals.
6.8 Good
Pros: Clean, comfy, great airco,
Cons: Receptionist upon arrival wasn't very friendly. Breakfast was simple but things ran out quickly, we had to search for the hostess to replace milk, knives etc.. Parking was exorbitantly expensive
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect staff. Perfect location. Great underground parking. Very clean. Thanks!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful, room was very clean and the hotel was well located for the restaurants.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I like the location. Superb. The breakfast was delicious. The parking area is safe .
Cons: My own towel (colored white ) that was hanged in the locker was also taken together with the dirty towels by the cleaners. I assumed that they can identify which kind of towels they are issuing in each room. I reported already to the desk and i hope it will be returned.
