Hiromas Hostel In Ueno

The location near Ueno Station is extremely convenient for central Tokyo. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the station, and another 5 minutes to reach the correct platform. The hostel, much like all of Japan, was clean and everything worked properly. I appreciated the "pod" style of the sleeping arrangements. They gave a clean towel every day, and provided soap, shampoo, and conditioner in the showers. I stayed in the mixed dorm floor. In the restroom you have 3 urinals to pass to get to the toilet. There is a lot of potential for embarrassment, but I didn't actually encounter an issues during my 4 days. They have basic cooking facilities, a fridge, a vending machine, and washers & dryers. If you need something, like laundry detergent or slippers, you can get them for a small fee from the front desk.

Each person has a locker, but this locker is not very large. It's okay for a carry-on sized suitcase + day pack. On the positive side, each "pod" has a small locker to keep valuables. This is in addition to a recharging outlet and small shelf in the "pod". The bed was REALLY hard. It was fractionally better than sleeping on a bare floor. To make it a bit better, try sleeping on your duvet and using your towel for a blanket. Some "pods" are situated in better spots than others. If you're in a bottom pod, people can see into your space because of the way the curtains hang loosely. If you're in the middle of the room with the lockers, you have to listen to the electronic locks play a little tune every time someone opens and closes their locker. All in all, the "pod" system is definitely better than a room with bunk beds.

The staff was very kind and welcoming. We were staying there for two nights and enjoyed it! For each guest there’s a locker with a code to keep their luggage. The hostel is also accessible after midnight.

Very clean and comfy, staff super friendly loved that part. 10m walking train station. Good location!

A bit far from the centre I guess depend where you exactly what to be. If you don’t have any specific area then this is a great option for a good price !
