Great location to start hiking trips from and of course also if you want to drive the Stelvio Pass
Same as other reviewers, my husband and I stayed in this hotel for a night as it is very close to Stelvio Pass. Hotel Madatsch is located on top of a hill, it has an excellent location and beautiful views over mountains. Other hotel guests and the waiter who served us dinner were all nice and friendly although they hardly speak fluent english. We made our reservation in May for a room to stay in September, before our departure, my husband called this hotel to confirm our reservation. A man answered this phone call, spent 5 minutes saying our names, sounded very inpatient and then hung up on us. On our arrival, the man took our passports, gave us the room, told us dinner is prepared and will start at 19:00. It was strange, a fixed 4/5 courses meal without any option (except the salad and desserts). The price for this meal was fair, only if you are prepared to eat so much. More strangely, they had a separate table for us outside the dinning area, away from all other guests. The room did not look as nice as showed on the internet. Design of bathroom was not practical and unpleasant.
Excelent value for money, locatioon perfect for driving Stelvio pass Bathroom was compact in the extreme....do not stay if you are on the large side!!!
The Hotel setting is outstanding - beautiful in the snow covered Mountains (even in June) on the Stelvio pass - - several large garages - one of them took the whole 9 motorcycles from our party and it was provided free of charge - the staff were very helpful the pirces were reasonable it was a fixed evening menu - but the food was great .
Location, friendly staff, stunning views around hotel, fair price for evening meal, looks of hotel. Cramped, premade plastic bathroom
Very welcoming, friendly hotel. The staff all really cared, we even got a guided tour of the hotel on arrival.....very impressive. The evening meal was also very good, we were a little worried in case it wasn't as there was no where else to go!! We need not have been worried at all.
Overall a very nice and comfortable, family run hotel. The spa was lovely and a nice way to unwind after a days trekking in the mountains. The room was clean and comfortable, although I'm not a great lover of all-in- one moulded bathrooms as the shower was way to small to be in comfortably. The 5 course evening meal which is standard was OK, but not great, but the breakfast more than made up for that. The bathroom was a joke in fairness and the spa should be opened till at least 9pm. Limited parking so arrive early.
The way we were made to feel welcome The window from the room into the bathroom, at night when someone went to the bathroom the light would wake up those who were sleeping. This was only minor and is no way as a complaint, just an observation
Excellent food and service
Book a suite if you can - fabulous rooms, peaceful, loads of space, nice jacuzzi, bathrobes etc. Good choice for breakfast and excellent 6 course meal as part of the half board package.
Welcoming staff, yes attitude, great scenery. Highly recommended
Fantastic setting, a modern very stylish and scrupulously clean hotel which is a credit to the family owners. The food was extraordinarily good - magnificent! There are no bad points!!!
Spacious room with excellent bed, friendly owner and staff, no problem to change from half-board to B&B (see below) Forget about their restaurant, unless your doctor has prescribed a salt-free and spice-less diet. The man who pretends to cook (I refuse to call him "chef") prepared some of the dullest dinners we ever had. The Garden Park is actually quite difficult to find, even with (or maybe because of) an on-board navigation system. As it is close to an industrial estate, there is some traffic noise.
Excellent restaurant and friendly helpful staff. Excellent facilities Location at first looks a little ordinary, but was fine.Towels not thick and fluffy! Also,My wife tripped on a step which could have been more visibly displayed. Staff however were very helpful in her distress
