Pros: Wonderful staff, spectacular setting, and the most fantastic experience going out to see the animals! Recommend entirely.
Pros: Nedile is an oasis of calm in a little piece of paradise on earth. The views are breathtaking. The suites are comfortable and very private. The staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is ever too much trouble. The food was simply wonderful. Barend was a superb guide and knows the reserve like the back of his hand. The game viewing was fantastic and varied. It is a very special place. I arrived a guest and left feeling like family. To John, Dominique, Barend, Marnė, John, Jonathan, Gladys and Lizzy a very very big thank you for a fabulous weekend. Wish I could have stayed longer. But I will definitely be back!
Cons: There is nothing to not like.
Pros: It was awesome eating out on the deck with such a magnificent view. Great selection of food and fresh.
Cons: I would prefer to be at one big table so we can get to know the other guests better.
Pros: We LOVED everything! We felt like family. Super game drives. John really went out of his way to show us the best! Dominique was a great host and we loved every second of our stay. We would go back in a blink of an eye. Great staff, very friendly, very helpful. Keep it up guys!!
Pros: We loved everything!! The guide is amazing and he gave us the most fantastic experience! I highly recommend Nedile lodge.
Pros: The food at Nedile was brilliant. I absolutely loved all the homemade bread. The chef was excellent. The game drives were awesome and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff made the experience even better. Especially Jonathan who was a kind and fabulous, he really looked after us.
Cons: The three rain spiders in my cupboard but they were quickly disposed of.
Pros: This lodge is everything what you want for your safari. Amazing views, great food and nice staff!
Cons: Everything was perfect
Pros: It was an incredibly beautiful spot and I can’t wait to come back again! Very kind and helpful staff and we had a wonderful time. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a luxurious but genuine bush experience.
Pros: Brilliant management and staff members. Good food. Fantastic bed. Great view. I will recommend the lodge to others.
Cons: No two point plug points. Don’t know if there is WiFi.

Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Pros: Everything was really great, the rooms, the staff, the accomodation, the nicest and delicious food every day, very important a very good ranger Ryan, we are very gratefull that we stayed at Mhondoro!
Pros: The appointment and decor of the lodge as well as the maintenance. Caroline the manager was a delight to deal with.
Cons: Game ranger was exceptionally rude and non-interactice with us. I am writing a letter of complaint to the lodge itself. I do beieve that the tips should be included for the price charged. Waiter service to the table was slow and so was the clearing of plates.
Pros: The food was great and beautiful environment
Cons: The hypoallergenic pillows were too hard
Pros: Staff members were friendly and helpful, gym facilities and the sauna.Sundowner was my best ,game drive and playing games in the bush while watching the sun set...
Cons: I didn’t like the fact that they charge R1000 extra for picking people who arrive later than their pick up time from the main gate. It’s a rip off. Their sparkling water... some of the bottles in the rooms were not sealed it’s like they have been refilled.
Cons: I loved everything
Pros: The overall hospitality, exceptional meals and amazing wildlife.
Pros: Everything was amazing. The hotel was beautiful, staff couldn't do enough, game drives with a brilliant ranger, hide where you can see animals at the waterhole. Best holiday ever!
Pros: Beautiful, modern and clean accommodation and decor - and a park filled with wildlife. Managed to see an abundance of animals, but sadly missed the elusive leopard! With the bonus of the walk through tunnel right to a waterhole. Meals were delicious, staff were excellent.
Cons: The only thing that let down the stay was a the lack of robust communication around the set check in time from both booking.com and the lodge itself. You need to check in at the main gate between 12.30 and 1.00pm and then be driven from the main gate the the lodge (about 45 mins). If you do not make this time, they'll charge you ~AUD$200 for a return trip. I found this out about 3-4 weeks before my stay - unfortunately I had just booked flights days before, which meant I had to pay the extra.
When you stay at Jamila Game Lodge in Vaalwater, you'll be 19.4 mi (31.2 km) from Welgevonden Game Reserve. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
Pros: The view from our room was stunning, and the staff so friendly and helpful. The food was simply delicious. We really enjoyed the game drives. The large dinner table is a nice touch We thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Cons: Load shedding was inconvenient but the lodge did their best to accommodate us as best they could
Cons: The manager at the hotel was absolutely horrendous. i would never recommend this establishment to anyone... -100/10
Pros: Rooms were super nice and comfy beds. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive to details.
Cons: Wish the game reserve had more leopards and lions and other wild cats. Saw a few lions very up close but did not spot any leopards.
Pros: The game drives were long and the guides well informed and knowledgeable. The size of the room was great. The dam they constructed in front of the lodge provided a lot of entertainment in terms of looking at the animals. The rusks and sweets that were always available. Game vehicle in very good condition.
Cons: We arrived at about 12h45 and would have liked some snack before the 14h30 lunch. Little attention by the venue on the small things i.e. ran out of toilet paper in the room (no extras in the room), rusks and coffee not refilled in the room thus did not have any on the third day, you cant drink the tap water yet have to pay for all bottled water, the temperature of the water in the Jacuzzi was extremely hot when we arrived - too hot to use, no ice in the room, bar fridge not filled as requested, turn down service not done as requested. No information sheet available regarding meal times, activities, how the telephone works and no telephone numbers (could not reach any of the services by phone), etc. Meal times varied from day to day. The food preparation was very average, i.e. medium "steak arrived "well done". The venue required a little maintenance i.e. outside door sign say "please use the latch", yet the latch is no longer there resulting in us having to put a chair in front of the door every time you want to leave the door open. The Jacuzzi made such a noise that we could not use the aerator (bubbles) part at all. It was reported with no action following. At the time we were there, many of the visitors were one day visitors which perhaps make the small things less noticeable. It does become very noticeable after the first day.
Pros: Nice view from the cabin, friendly personal, elephant cabin very big and luxourius
Cons: Make the road towards the west gate better for normal cars
Pros: Breakfasts were not up to standard. No mushrooms or baked beans or bacon????? We did enjoy the jacuzzi though.
Cons: Game drives were very long, with very few animals. Meals were mediaocre, not the best. Blankets on game vehicle were not neatly folded up when we went on the drives. When we wanted to get some drinks at the lodge, there were NOBODY, as in NOBODY, and we had to help ourselve with something, and yes, we wrote it up!! The linen were too hot and very noisy, could not sleep well, had to sleep under the throw.
Pros: Food, staff, location of room
Cons: The charge of water, cool drinks, liquor . Can give a limit of water and drinks.
Pros: That the friendly driver was on time to pick us up.
Cons: To drive to the West Gate and then to the lodge takes time
When you stay at Sediba Private Game Lodge in Vaalwater, you'll be 1 minutes by foot from Welgevonden Game Reserve. Featured amenities include laundry facilities, a library, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Planning an event in Vaalwater? This lodge has facilities measuring 269 square feet (25 square meters), including conference space. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Rooms were fabulous, huge and private and well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: Welcome drinks at the gate. Perhaps lose the lunch and have a brunch like other game lodges do?
Pros: The view.
Cons: Inadequately stocked tea and coffee facilities. Minibar had only water. Game drives not as exciting as expected probably due to the difficult terrain. Little effort from the game ranger.
Pros: Stunning suite, excellent food actually enjoyed lunch rather than tea but don't come here if you want to lose wieght as the food is delicious! Ranger Bonwel was a superb guide. This is an eco friendly reserve so don't expect to be driven over bushes to get closer to the game they respect the land and stick to the road. Max 4 vehicles at a sighting which is good. just take a zoom lens!
Cons: One of the stand out features is the jacuzzi unfortunately ours was cold. Luckily my daughters was working fine so I popped next door and used theirs.
Pros: We were seeking some rest and relaxation and we received just that. The employees were amazing and so was the food.
Pros: Rooms, game drives, game rancher, lunch and dinner
Cons: Breakfast ! Only egg dishes ... no juice, no breakfast buffet, no continental breakfast choice - real letdown ! Lunch and dinner were fantastic but breakfast is in dire need ! Also no proper espresso coffee
Pros: The staff, th food, the location, the game the villa - all were first class!!
Pros: The staff very welcoming and professional
Cons: I think they need to upgrade their facilities. The price we paid too high for the quality of the spa, gym, etc.
Cons: Game drive needs to be more informative, more attention to detail is required - taking into account this is a 5 star lodge. Staff friendly, but lacks management and leadership to make it a 5 star experience.
Pros: The setting is magnificent. The size of the rooms great. The staff were superb!
Cons: The property obviously needs a lot of maintenance and seems to have been neglected. This is a real pity as the potential is there and the lodge must have been magnificent some time back. The lack of attention to detail was really disappointing
When you stay at La Barunè Game Lodge in Vaalwater, you'll be 7 minutes by car from Kamonande Nature Reserve. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Perfect hosts and wonderful location. Superb food and hospitality. Wild animals roaming right up to the door!
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect.
Pros: The rooms are spacious and ALWAYS clean. Miss Hanli's food was always amazing. My husband and I particulary enjoyed the fresh, breezy air in the patio at breakfast. The staff are friendly, Miss Hanli & Oom Pieter were great hosts and their company was very refreshing.
Pros: Everything was perfect ! Beautiful lodge ! We had a wonderful time and Hanli is really kind , we had a game drive with her with pic nic in the reserve , meals were delicious .. a place to discover !

Pros: Staff were very friendly and very accommodating, food was excellent and the game driving experience
Pros: Food was fantastic. Great knowledgeable guide. Lots of wildlife
Cons: Nothing. All excellent
Pros: Ekuthuleni Lodge is in the middle of Welgevonden Game Reserve, a great location. What stands out about this lodge though, is the excellent service from every single member of the staff. I would go back just for them; we felt very welcome. The food was also tasty (especially Steven's salads), and the rooms and rest of the lodge are beautiful and comfortable. Wonderful sightings and great guide Jonas.
Cons: I really can't think of anything.
Pros: Relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent , I loved every moment and can not fault anything

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and a library. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The Food was excellent, great variety. We loved that the chef came to speak to us before each meal to explain what she had cooked which made it feel very authentic. The staff were very friendly and helpful in all aspects. The game ranger was very knowledgeable and very accommodating to all the animals we wanted to see. Very relaxing experience and worth a visit. All around the facilities were excellent.
Pros: Staff, food, rooms, game drives - will come back for sure, if I can
Cons: We asked them not to give my partner anything with pork but they did when we got back her face was wollen
Pros: Tshwene Lodge is absolutely amazing. It exceeded our expectations in every way. We stayed for 4 nights and were lucky enough to have 3 private Game Drives as we were the only ones in the lodge for that time, which made our stay truly exceptional. All the staff were incredible in their pursuit to make us feel at home, whether it was the chef 'Laptop' who served us some of the best food we have ever had, or the Game Ranger 'April' who went out of his way to show us absolutely everything he could with a massive smile on his face, and took the time to share intricate knowledge with us on the sightings we came across - the entire experience was a perfect 10.
Cons: Not a negative, rather a note to those planning a trip: The Welgevonden Game Reserve has a conservation fee of R150 per person, per day - you pay this at the end of your stay along with your drinks bill. We were a couple that stayed for 4 nights, so this totaled to R1200. The fee goes toward the security and maintenance of the park, which you can visually see is being put to good use, so it is 100% worth every cent, just plan around it.

Pros: The quiet location. We had a very relaxed time as we were the only guest.
Pros: Ria and Olaf were incredible . Nothing was too much trouble !!! Food was awesome especially the breakfasts Tranquil and peaceful surroundings
Cons: Pillow on bed could be replaced
Pros: It’s a beautifully remote and tranquil spot. After the 5km drive through the bush we reached the cosy camp/lodge area. You could see thousands of stars at night, and during the day their are trails to hike and wildlife to see. Our hosts Anneke and Thomas were brilliant. Made delicious meals and guided us around the sizeable lodge area.
Cons: Some tricky spots on the bush trail for our vehicle. The paths are very sandy
Pros: The beds and linen were excellent. the staff could not have been more accommodating. Thanks Aron and Ilse.
Cons: Food favoured European guests. could have been a bit more for the South African market. i.e. meat and cooked breakfast

Pros: Loved the location so peaceful. If you want to get away from it all this is the place.
Cons: Breakfast was served and left on the table rather than cooked to order and dinner was at 8pm which was quite late for us.
Pros: The chalet were very spacious and comfortable, the host and staff were extremely friendly and helpful
When you stay at Kaingo Game Reserve in Vaalwater, you'll be in the mountains and 12 minutes by car from Welgevonden Game Reserve. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and a library. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free valet parking is available onsite.
Pros: The food and friendliness of the staff
Cons: The fact that you have no access to my car after arrival and my keys was taken away from me, one cannot lock your room therefore there was no privacy or safety nett. We did not feel save at all with a open door the whole night. Being a south African the prise was extreme and hardly any game. For less money I could go to Marlothpark and see much more animals
Pros: Lovely location, great service from staff, good game drives, comfortable rooms.
Cons: Midday 'bush walk' wasn't thought through - too hot, too much driving.
Pros: The lodge has the most beautiful garden I have ever seen! The chalets were well kept and very clean. The ranger has an excellent knowledge. The food were fresh, tasteful and always more than enough! The South African owners were also there, and you could hear they have a passion for the field animals and conservation.
Pros: We loved the fact that it is not another over commercialised private reserve. Just the right size to allow for very personal attention. Quality of accommodation, facilities, vehicles, staff, etc. is top drawer and we have been to many others; this ranks above them all. Unique conservation concept is a winner.
