Everything was fine with my 3-night stay at the Interhotel Cherno More, in Sept., 2010. I believe that the hotel is a good value for the money, and I would stay there again. My room was fine (large & clean), with a balcony, and great views of the city and sea. The bathroom was also large, and clean. The tv received a bunch of different English channels. The morning buffet was served in the restaurant on the top floor, with great views of the city. Also, there is a bar on the top floor that opens after 16:00, with live music after 23:00 (at least on weekends). The hotel has a great central location, near the end of the Pedestrian Zone, close to the Sea Garden. Everything is within walking distance, both in the city, & along the sea. A couple of things to be aware of: (1) When I checked in, the hotel expected immediate payment for the room, in order to get my passport back. Otherwise, they apparently hold onto it until payment is made. (For me it was not a problem. After I went up to my room and verified that it was okay, I went right back down to the reception, paid for the 3 nights for my room, and got my passport back.) (2) Despite the indications on this and other hotel-booking websites of "on-site" sauna, gym, massage, etc., these facilities are apparently not at the hotel itself. I was told that they were in a separate facility "next door", but did not verify this, nor check prices.
Cental Horribel breakfast, staff and hotel is totally out og date.
Its location to every place - Beach, City cenrte shopping, Fantastic view of sea. To get all these in one is fantastic, and good value for money. NONE
Only the situation is good. Staff was nice but it's not comfortable, too old...
Wonderful views over the Black Sea and the beach from the room. Free internet use. Bright breakfast room with one of the better breakfast offerings we've seen in Bulgaria. There could be more seating available in the breakfast room as it was close to full on each morning of our stay, despite breakfasting at different times. Some of the staff were cordial, but not overly friendly. (Others were very welcoming and helpful.)
Location to beach and amenities excellent. Staff very friendly - Hotel lent us beach towels at no cost or even a deposit.
Fine hotel, nice and friendly staff.
Excellent breakfast quality and staff service The AC system was prematurely turned off, despite warm outside temperatures. The room was very hot. In order to maintain reasonable room temperature, the windows had to remain opening, which allowed outside noise and insects to enter during the night. Desk clerk argued that the temperature was "just fine" for her, but, of course, the AC was on in the main floor lobby.
We were welcomed by friendly staff and checked in without any problems. It was peaceful, relaxing and very clean with a sea view.
friendliness of staff; helpful staff; cleanliness; excellent sea front location; good air conditioning; quiet even though it is on a main road no tea & coffee facilities in the room but there is an excellent lobby bar where you can buy drinks.
The hotel was beautiful - very grand. The free upgrade was also a bonus!
I travel extensively to many places throughout the world and this is hotel definately provides the best service I have ever experienced, at first it is a little overwhelming because we are not use to such formality here in Australia but it does not take long to get use to being treated like royalty. The quality and quantity of the food is also excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel to those who are extremely particular about service and to those who have a special occassion and want to experience the VIP treatment. would be great if tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room and also a morning newspaper would be nice.
Maybe the best hotel in Eastern Europe and one of the best in Europe. HUGE rooms, excellent service, best location, free parking and wireless and wired internet, a great cafe. What else missing? Nothing really.
service and cleanliness, also the breakfast
We never tire of this hotel, hen we are not staying here we visit for afternoon tea, it's a lovely place with professional, switched on staff. Even though we have a house in Bulgaria we still try to stay here at least one night just for the pleasure of it, guarded car park. Same as before, hotel perfect, pavements on the approach road are dreadful.
We are Korean couple exploring 5 star hotels in Eastern Europe. Great Location if you want to explore the central area of Varna. Close to the Roman bath and the church. luxurious room with superb interiors from the bed to the bathroom. good 5 star rooms. You have to take up the stairs in order to come up to the lobby. We had to pull up our baby stroller every time.
Good central location, good rooms, however it was not possible to sleep with the windows open due to the noise outside. The air con was very effective if a bit noisy. Most of the staff were very helpful. Some of the staff were more willing to help than others, one of the wine waiters was very helpful and gave good local knowledge of the wines and cheeses of the area, however the next evening the other chap obviously couldn't be bothered with us.
Beautifully furnished and comfortable, staff very attentive, restaurant wonderful, smack in middle of town parking a bit hit and miss,
A beautifully done hotel with everything new, but in a very traditional style. Location ideal for walking around Varna sea front and main shopping areas Only very small problem was finding the entrance to the car park as many of the small streets around it have been closed or made into one way.
Excellent hotel in the middle of Varna, close to shopping, pedestrian zone, very good for business. An 'old world' atmosphere, but in the best possible way. Excellent, fast and free internet connection, nice big rooms, a-la-cart breakfast, very very reasonable prices. Thoroughly recommended. Not applicable.
The hotel is for a smokers because people smoke everywhere even during a breakfast...
friendly and helpful staff, good service
Very good possition close to pedestrian area and the sea. Room, probably, was just renowated and very clean. At first it was a bit complicated to find location of the hotel
Excellent location near by the city commercial center as well as the beach/park. It is no directionals from the main street so it is extremely difficult to find out the location when coming by car - my navigator was not helping me enough (I have also a Navon GPS bought this year) so it was a real nightmaire reaching the hotel - . Bathrooms sewage was working bad.
I stayed in their studio for almost two weeks while looking for an apartment. The location gives quick access to the Sea Garden, beach and city center. The breakfast is nice, and the staff was friendly. Some spoke very good English and were helpful with questions. It is not a luxury hotel by any means, but everything works, is kept clean, and the price and value is hard to beat. There was very little street noise after 9 PM, at least in early spring. Speaking with several long term expats, many have stayed there and recommend it to their visitors. The taxi driver at the airport had not heard of it, but I had the address printed out, so he found it OK. The noise from the lift woke me up a couple times, but fortunately most people do not use it except when they have luggage. It is reaching the point where they should consider updating some furnishings, but everything functions. Smokers tended to congregate around the front door, which is typical in Bulgaria, but the inside did not smell of smoke.
Nice location close to the park and the main shopping street. Room was clean and comfortable, located on the same floor as the receptiondesk. Good breakfast. Free use of a PC with internet and wifi. It was a bit more expensive than the hotels we visited throughout Bulgaria, but the location was worth the money.
The staff were very polite. The room was big and clean. There was an baby bed in the room for our baby!
The proximity of the sea garden and the beach to the hotel is great as you only walk 5 minutes to get to the seaside. Breakfast choice was very poor and once the buffet is finished, the staff did not refill. The hotel is located on a busy road so it is very noisy.
The pleasant staff
Located within city centre, walkable to major attractions, very close to beach. Very good breakfast. Staff was helpful Room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke although it was a non-smoking room. Also the shower didn't work properly.
Friendly and polite staff . The room was very neglected!
Helpfulness of staff No
the hotel was clean and modern; the breakfast was lovely and the restaurant service impeccable; dinner was reasonably priced and the warm chocolate cake was to die for! the fitness facility was only an exercise bike and a treadmill in a very small, basement space; there was no matting on the floor outside the shower/sauna and it was very slippery when wet.
We enjoyed our five days at Modus Hotel a lot. The stuff is very friendly and helpful, there's this certain atmosphere you truly feel welcome which is actually very seldom to find in hotels. The hotel is in Varna itself, right at the city beach. If you feel like this huge party beach up of Varna, don't choose this hotel. If you feel like living right in a lively city, still only 3min away from a great beach, i would choose Modus Hotel again. No
It was cosily and fusion. N/A
everything including the location, room and staff were fantastic, like a cool london hotel. I will stay here again. breakfast could be better.
everything really I like the hotel
All, it's an excellent hotel!!
Perfect location, excellent service, great interior design.
breakfest really poor
The staffs were very friendly and I liked the interior design of this hotel, very modern and smart. Breakfast was also very good! None!
In itself Hotel, so quiet and excellent located.
correct quality for the correct prices at all services; nice and friendly personnel. No-
Staff did an excellent job cleaning the room.
easy access the minibar was removed
Location is very closed to the station, that is very convenient.
easy access to train and city. room was clean and staff were efficient breakfast menu was not western friendly, eggs as a staple breakfast were in limited choice.
The stuff of the reception no
Room is good, big. Hotel cannot find me a plug-adaptor from European type to US type.TV a bit old and not many channels.
The room was very wide and clean. The hotel has a very good position in the pedestrian zone and near the sea garden. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Friendly people,I ve been in Bulgaria at least 20 times and this was the first time i have ever seen such a nice hotel stuff.Excelence location.. Hotel needs some works.
the room is confortable and clean, the staff are friendly, the english breakfast at the bistro in front of the hotel is good.
Everything. The hotel was very central, clean and comfortable. The piano bar a great place to spend the evening. Staff very happy to help. Great that we could eat breakfast in the hotel because worried about having a voucher for breakfast outside the hotel. Will certainly visit again. Only problem was the shower fitting was loose in the bathroom, but didn't fall off!!
A very nice cosy hotel. The staff is very friendly.I stayed there with a baby, they gave us a baby cot for free. IThe hotel is situated in the verycenter of Varna, at the pedestrian area, so you can't get to the hotel entrance by car, you should walk some meters. But if you travel by car, there is 24hours secured parking just opposite the hotel. The one thing that i didn't like is breakfast. The hotel doesn't have the restaurant, so they don't serve breakfasts, but they give you the voucher for breakfast at the nearest bar. Of course it's not the buffet, there are 4-5 variants you can choose one, for extra cup of tea or coffee you have to pay.
The whole place is very clean - maybe it will go the way of the others after a year or two, but at present it is spotless. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi in the rooms and more TV channels than you know what to do with. Breakfast is a disaster. There is limited seating and the replenishment of food, cups and cutlery is very, very slow.
The hotel and its staff are known from many years. Frendly and caring staff. Good quality of the rooms and furniture. Clean bathrooms. No convenient parking places.
The staff were amazingly helpful and absolutely lovely, they recommended restaurants, beaches and onward hotels. Room was beautiful, large, relaxing and soft colourings.
It's central location made it an excellent base from which to explore Varna. One of the bathroom fittings was loose and there was no way to turn the lights on or off from the bed. One had to get out of bed to turn the bedside reading lights off!!
Very curteous staff, perfectly clean rooms, spacious and beautifully arranged True espresso or filter coffee would be great
An enjoyable 3 nights in a renovated period building with comfortable, large rooms. Very helpful staff. There was a problem with my room in that the basin leaked and I was immediately upgraded to another room. Only that breakfast could have been more imagiative
everything is nice no
Wonderful decor, quirky and full of character. Clean and comfortable rooms. Staff were excellent, keen to help and went out of their way to do so. Situated on a quiet street about halfway between the cathedral and the roman thermae. Breakfast was a slight let down but perfectly acceptable.
Well-located on a quiet street just off the main pedestrian area. Staff goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect and rooms are comfortable and clean.
Nice and clean, location god for night life. Breakfast was really bad - but that was the single one problem.
A wonderful little hotel close to the main shopping area and minutes from the Sea Park and the beach. The staff was endlessly helpful and kind. Without hesitation, stay here.
The hotel is very nice, an the stuff is also very good.
A small hotel but very helpful staff and friendly atmosphere, recent build and very clean no
always warm and freindly no, but tea and coffee facilities in room would be good
Employers are very kind, we had everything we needed, and we don't have anything to complain. Location is great, rooms are very nice, clean. There are lots of cats near by and i liked it very much ;) I like everything about that hotel and when I come to Varna again, I will stay in the same.
I liked the fact that at the desk I received a town map with worthwhile suggestions for sightseeing. Well, the sidewalk in front of the hotel... But that has to be fixed by the municipality!
only stopped 1night.travelling on up country
It was clean, well situated for the city centre, everything functioned and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The nature of the breakfast might not be to everyone's taste, but we new this from previous reviews. No complaints to make.
the price was excellent. Not often you will see this quality in a 3 star hotel with this price. As i booked it i expected a older one. What i got was a brand new building with small but excellent rooms. The location was perfect. 3min walk and you are in the center of the town. there was only one car rental agency available and they could not give me the number or the adress of one of the international brands like avis, hertz or sixt.
It was excelent. Very central. no.
This hotel has a good price-quality rate. The rooms are quite, good beds, proper bathrooms and personnel is very friendly. Very close to the railway station. The location is hard to find and the street not very nice. Don't expect to much from breakfast, this is very basic.
Very good location, despite the poor condition of the surrounding streets. Safe parking, silence, clean room. Close to the center and shopping area, but also close to the port and park.
very good position : right in the center not very clean;bad toilet and bathroom
The location was very good in the centre of the city. The staff were helpful and friendly.
The location of the hotel is outstanding as long as you have no vehicle. The rooms were tiny and the hotel was being renovated. The electrics were dodgy eg live wires hanging from bed lights. There was no telephone in the room and neither was internet connection.
City centre location Needs a bit of refurb
The hotel was located very good close to both the city center, the beach and the railway station. The door to the toilet were made of glass. So if you are not staying alone, be prepared to see things you don't want to see.
........... Hotel staff
location too many stairs, small rooms, broken lightswitch and great difficulty in using shower-even reception staff were unable to use
the location, a few stepsway fromthe central pedestrian area, conveninet for public transports according to what advertised, there should have been a buffet breakfast, whereas the meagre breakfast in the restaurant opposite the hotel was just coffee, water and omelette OR sandwich... no choice whatsoever between sweet or savoury, no soft drinks except plain water.
Location They didn't have a free double room as it was booked, so we had to pay in addition for another one. The rooms will soon start falling apart. It's not normal the wallplugs to be fixed with scotch tape. The best thing about the hotel was its location.
The Hotel is very central and great for business. Also leisure facilities, bars and restaurant are within a few minutes walking distance. The views from some of the rooms are poor. If you want to look out onto the street, or have any decent view at all, it would be best to ask the hotel for certain rooms.
