According to our latest data, Vail and Park City are the go-to destinations for a winter escape this season. Not that any of us can actually ski, mind you. We do however like to pretend we’re experts by bringing up ski videos and wiggling our hips side to side in our office chairs. Poor little Giorgos had to suffer through computer camp as a child while Jonny Moseley was slashing down bunny hills. While he’s Skating With The Stars (well, for a few episodes, anyway), we’re analyzing search data. We examined hotel searches for travel in December, January, and February to more than 20 popular mountain towns in North America – here’s what we found.

Top 15 North American Ski Destinations for Travelers This Winter:
1. Vail, CO                            Makes up 13.07% of searches to ski destinations
2. Park City, UT                     Makes up 11.80% of searches to ski destinations
3. Salt Lake City, UT              Makes up 10.43% of searches to ski destinations
4. Lake Tahoe/                       Makes up 9.09% of searches to ski destinations
South Lake Tahoe, CA
5. Breckenridge, CO               Makes up 8.71% of searches to ski destinations

15. Keystone, CO                   Makes up 1.67% of searches to ski destinations

Vail and Park City appear to be the popular options, but other great peaks in Vermont and Keystone may exhibit shorter lines at the chairlifts. We’re also intrigued by Mammoth’s top 10 ranking. Could the new daily flights from San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have something do with these numbers? We think so.
