The building and rooms are a little old, minor details like painting not perfect an old TV, small indoor swimingpool, etc. But well located and excellent breakfast
Comfort and good service To charge 18 euros for an ordinary breakfast of fruit juice, coffee and a piece of pastry is outrageous. We had to find alternatives elsewhere.
We only stayed 1 night but all staff were extremely nice and helpful particularly as I lost my mobile during our time there and they were most kind when I telephoned and they have posted it back to me.Thank you and we would most definitely stay again.
This is not a four star hotel. 3 stars would be more appropriate. The hotel rooms need refurbishing, furniture, carpet , are getting old . Wallpaper is coming off the waal.... Despite that is was a non-smoking room, the smell indicated heavy smoking in the room .
For a wedding
The location is good. But that's only the beginning, with hotels... The bed was the worst and most uncomfortable bed that we ever slept in, and the lady on reception didn't seem the slightest bit interested to hear about that. We checked out of the hotel and stayed another two nights in this town, but at another hotel.
The beds were too firm
Very well located, close to the Congress Center. Free internet.
Good location, plenty of secure parking and friendly front-desk staff. Getting served dinner after 830pm can prove very difficult. The restaurant serves until 10pm, however, because the restuarant is too small for the number of guests one is forced to wait a very long time to secure a table. For young children having to wwait can prove to be traumatic.
well situated near the lake, the restaurants. easy access to the town by car.hotel was quiet and very relaxing.
Pleasant Staff, good service
Good sized rooms, and although a little old fashioned in decoration, they were very comfortable. I wish I'd had more time to try out the facilities as the pool etc. looked great Breakfast was a little disappointing - the tea and coffee were cold and the staff on duty not overly helpful. the option of a cooked breadfast would have been nice.
The leisure facilities ie pool etc
The hotel is a beautiful (chic, modern, clean, comfortable and on par with North Americans' relatively high expectations standards when it comes to hotel rooms) property located right on the lake/marina and away from the dowtown hustle and bustle. Signs to the hotel were posted in town, which made it relatively easy to find. The front desk staff were not particularly welcoming, friendly or helpful compared to most of the other hotels we stayed at. However, they were professional.
Very cosy hotel, situated just on the lake coast. Spa-center is very nice. The city center is not near, but the bus station is in 2 min. The breakfast is simple, but the dinner is one of the best in the city.
Free very secure underground car parking. Large spacious room with good sized balcony. Free room safety deposit box. Helpful reception staff who spoke good English. Contiental breafast was extra cost and extremely poor value with little choice. Hotel was clean but generally was in need of a face lift.
Fantastic location, wonderful views of mountains and lake, close to bars and restaurants, short drive into centre ville, rooms clean, large and comfortable, would definitely stay there again.
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. It is not located in downtown but in a very nice location next to the lake and easily accesible to downtown. If I rated "facilities" as regular it was because of the reasons enumerated below. It is supposed to have free internet connection and that is one of the reason why I've choosen it. But the wifi didn't work during my 3 days of stay and it was a real nuisance for me as the main reason of my stay was to work. The minibar was not enough supplied and when I asked for it they told me that that could not happen until next day. So I had to buy drinks at the bar, which was quite more expensive.
It was well situated at the side of the Lake. A marina was oposite which is entertaining for people who like boats. None
Confortable room- nice to extend your journey if you like for a special price The staff is not speaking English fluently- the use of the facilities should be for free for the customers of the hotel and open also in the evening
Nice clean hotel but How many hotels in this day and age do not have a restaurant or bar This hotel is obviously a summer hotel. It needs to maintain its standards all year round
Nice clean hotel with good parking facilities, Key to our decision to stay here. Food in resataurant was very poor. Waited almost an hour for main course and was then hard (Duck). Waiters do not speak English either.
no problems the hotel was resonable price clean & friendly. walking distance from aix town centre. restaurant overpriced
We booked the hotel for 2 nights, but could stand it only for one (extremely noisy location, no condition, bad chemical smell). The personnel was nice and understanding and refunded us the second nice (and paid some compensation!). So we moved to Villa Marlioz 5 min away, which is lovely! I would keep only the seconf part of this hotel (ARIANA 4*), and simply close this one, as it is not suitable for holidays
The personnel were friendly. The restaurant service in the sister hotel was friendly but very much cafeteria quality. We were served by five different staff. The minute you were finished your course your next course was served by another member of staff with no time to relax between courses.. The overall experience in the restaurant was appalling. I feel qualified to make these comments as I have had and run my own rerestau
Peace and quiet n/a
Very comfortable and clean, extremely good value for money. Underground garage available. Pet friendly. Quiet although in the center of the town. Very rich breakfast. Deserves four stars.
Restaurant was good. Room was not as good as expected, and not as good as web suggested.
The hotel did not offer any non smoking rooms. The room we stayed in stank of stale smoke and no alternative was available. The pool was pleasant but lack of changing rooms was inconvenient. At breakfast, by 8.30, the croissants had run out managed to serve some more 15 minutes later! see above.
no clock in the wellness area, WiFi too expensive.
The food was generally very good. The pool was lovely too Some unpleasant teenagers in the pool on the Saturday evening who spoilt the relaxing atmosphere. The food was good except for the vegetables. Regards question 4, I'm not sure if we are a young couple (probably not at nearly 50) but I didn't like to have to select mature couple!
Its a nice hotel, nothing special. Cause of a fire the swimmingpool and other spa facilities arent open. Grund floor/reception is very nice modern and clean. Room could use an upgrade.
No tea/coffee making facilities
Staff were pleasant, helpful in storing our bikes securely.Breakfast was good value. No airconditioning so stifling hot all day and all night. Electrical fire meant no swimming pool/ spa and no restaurant bar during our stay (no discount) which was poor.
Good location, spaceful room. I brought my swimsuit for spa, but they did not allow me to wear it, and forced us to buy sandal according to their rule.. so finally it costed more than 30 Euro/person just to enter spa area! You had better check their rule before going. Room maintainence and restaurant are poor for four-star hotel.
Could not buy a snack, very impersonal
i have stayed in Aix Les Bains before but always in the centre of town. this hotel is a further out and a lot quieter as it is back from the main road, so for peaceful stay this is a very good hotel.
Clean and welcoming. Cot provided automatically (although we indicated that we would bring our own) at no charge. Good stopover hotel. Swimming Pool included in information, but costs 10 EUR person/day. Description generous - playing fields and busy (noisy) road adjacent. Quite a way from both lake and town.
It wasn't the easiest hotel to find
The staff were very friendly and the room was quiet. I would not class this Mercure as 4 star. It is very tired, and quite a way from both the lake and the city. The food was very average.
There was a fine atmosphere at the reception when we came, and that lastet during all our stay. We appriciate that.
Small, welcoming hotel
Room is small. It was noisy in the morning due to the nearby street.
Room and price
A super deal in every respect-we would go again
Nice little hotel to stay in, and in summer would be lovely just about beside the lake.
Superb position beside the lake and ready access to a number of good restaurants. Good bathroom.
The hotel was used soley as a one night stop-over with late arrival. Not an ideal stay for a review Romm and bathroom were well furnished with pleasant attractive and out of the ordinary decor. Bathroom was well equipped but shower arrangement was impractical causing some flooding
Good location, close to the lake and restaurant. Easy to get to (10 minutes by taxi from train station)
Decor and bathroom, location
the swimming pool, the staff, the entertainment the dinners
Such a lovely hotel we stayed an extra night. It was so relaxing and the gym, pool and spa were a real bonus. Good value for the standards we received and very reasonable prices in the bar
Good sized family room with bunk beds in separate room. Quiet location with nice views Frustrated that large restaurant was supposedly full for late arrival
As usual, lovely place to relax. It's my third visit, and, certainly, not the last!
Close approximity to Chambery airport. Clean hotel, a little dated in rooms and communal areas, with limited restaurant / bar facilities for a medium to large hotel We picked this Hotel for its advertised Spa facilities, and had travelled some distance for our stay. The staff gave us incorrect pool & spa open times! Even so we arrived at these facilities earlier than the actual closing times and were still not allowed to use facilities, which was incredibly rude and poor service. We then attempted to use facilities the following day and were told that in France shorts were not allowed in the pool only speedos for males! Any visitor from abroad should be made aware of this!
Our kids was not allowed to use the pool because they had the "wrong" type of swimsuits, their swimsuits apparently looked like shorts. The guy was very rude.
Great place to relax and chill out, probably, best hotel in aix les bains. Nice swimming pool, beautiful location, extremely friendly stuff, will come back!! It will be nice to have a free "navette" to go to the lake as it is quite far away, and there is not much public transport
You can't call this hotel ! Motel would be more wright....and very expensive one !
Relaxing environment and excursions organised by Vacances Bleus representative swimming pool guard was extremely picky with anything we did he didn't like, but didn't seem to have any problem with French guests behaving similarly
lovely location, big rooms, totally non smoking its better to have a car, as public transport near hotel is very limited and taxi is very expensive
I liked the simple but efficient service provided by friendly staff, and the room was adequate for a short stay. The air-conditioning and room heater did not seem to be working. The price of breakfast was rather high.
We dit not get value for money; the food in the Campagnile in Aix les Bains was bad !
It was a comfortable and convenient stopover in pleasant surroundings on our way to the Alps No.
Everything needed was there. Rather small but adequate space.
Restaurant excellent staff really friendly and helpful, rooms but clean and warm brilliant shower! Will use again for future trips to the alps.
Great motel-style for a stop-over. Clean and good value for money.
Nice people, the place is calm, tha garden is very romantic
The staff were very welcoming. The restaurant provided a varied selection on the menu and food was well prepared and beautifully presented. The swimming pool area was kept clean and there were plenty of chairs etc for relaxing. The bathroom was very small. A kettle for tea/coffee making, and a fridge would be a welcome addition, but I realise space is an issue.
Evening meal was excellent
The room was lovely and nicely decorated, with a huge comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Nice gardens outside. Very good value for the price and I would definitely stay there again. It is not in the centre of Aix les Bains but this is reflected in the price. It is a two minute drive, in a residential area..
Very nice hotel with beautiful garden. Very good price- quality ratio. Location is good if you are driving. Lack of air conditioning can be a problem when the weather gets really warm. Communication was not always easy as I dont speak French
Good retaurant: good pool; helpful staff Hotel in need of updating bedrooms and in particular the bathrooms - hand held showers over a bath which don't stretch far enough to enable you to stand while showering not really enough these days. Much further out of town than had realised. Only just walkable in daylight: a car or taxi was needed otherwise to get to the port, the lake or the town centre.
We had requested a quiet part of the hotel and they assigned us a great room in the back overlooking the garden. The room was immaculate, beds good and it was very quiet. A bit difficult to find, but easy in and out of town.
Lovely garden. Very French old-style hotel design- great if you don't like the uniformity of most hotels. The most comfortable bed we had on our week long road trip- with duvet instead of the blankets everywhere else. Breakfast looked to be just a cold buffet so we gave it a miss and drove to the port for a cafe breakfast.
Not as close to the lake as it appered frmthe information and on a main road.
Peaceful and quiet. Good food, friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant, restful setting. No complaints.
Excellent location - holiday was part of following the Tour De France None
Large room; very polite and helpful staff. Will return there if we return to Aix-les- Bains. Breakfast price is too expensive, so we ate out.
The family that own the hotel are very friendly and helpful. I don't know if they can speak English, as I spoke French. I found the hotel great value for money (55 euros/night) and I was very comfortable there. If you want a four star hotel go to a four star hotel. If you want a nice place to stay with friendly staff and you don't mind if everything's not absolutely perfect, come here.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the room was good value and had a beautiful view of the Notre Dame church and surroundings and the location was excellent. The only bad points I can think of were that the shower water wasn't quite hot enough and neither was the heater. A T.V. station in english would have been good too.
The acommodation is situated in an old abbey which gives it a unique setting in beautiful surroundings.
The central but quiet location, very friendly staff, free private parking. Breakfast too expensive (we hadn't it because of the price); very small bed (but all French beds are small): if possible better ask for a room with twin beds. No air con in the rooms. The hotel would need some renewals.
Good clean hotel, friendly staff.
Parking at the hotel and waling distance to to centre Breakfast finished at 9,00am but on holiday we want it till 10,00am usual in almost all hotels
The service was nice and friendly, and it was very close to the city. Food was not very nice and the rooms were quite uncomfortable.
close to the centre of town ,short walk to the shops, parking opposite the hotel. room 1 ,balcony looked on to hedge.
Lovely town, beatiful surrounds, quiet but near the town. Friendly staff and helpful. Comfortable room. No shower to stand in. Little basic for the price.
This was our second stay and as usual we received a lovely welcome, we would definately recommend this hotel!
The tv screen was too small
location and price it was not air conditioned and no fan was available. Also it was a big deal to borrow a hair dryer from the front desk. The hotel seemed to be for old ladies on pensions which made it a quiet place but we prefer a greater diversity of clientele.
Close to the Casino and the promenade. Staff very helpful. Spacious room and clean. Also the Jazz festival was on at the time - brilliant. No hotel parking available (full). parking in the town very expensive. the best I found was at the casino at 1 franc per hour (24 per day or £12). Hotel staff recommended the forum car park but that was more expensive!
The reception peoples don't speak English (Not everybody). He didn't understand the room numbers! The internet booking letter wrote Total costs EURO 210.00 (3 nights) and "forgot" this not included the breakfast. He wrote: Standard Twin Room, extra bed is more cost. And I need pay EURO 262.20 It's not correct. The beds are very hard. The bathromm service is terrible ( the bath is very small,...)
Lovely town, great location, friendy staff No
Price goodstaff very very very good To noisy courtyard thin walls very hot rooms on top floor
Very nice and attentive personell. The room was clean and quiet. In the middle of the town centre and short distance to (free) busses to the start of mountain paths.
Excellent service - staff went out of their way to help, even though they had limited english.
the furniture inside the room...and also the breakfast. the tv's poorness...
Good location, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff.
Hotel very well located, very nice staff giving precious advises to visit the city. Free bus ticket and room perfect. No air conditioning.
Kindness and availability of the staff. Nothing in particular.
Our stay was very brief, but thoroughly enjoyable and the staff were most helpful and pleasant. Our room was very good. We are very surprised it is only 1 star... N/a
Friendly and helpful staff The rumble strips on the Rue de Geneve mean that any city centre hotel will be noisy
Staff very friendly and helpful Had a room in the loft (top floor). Room was hot and outside was too noisy to keep the window open.
Cheap, good location, everthing adequate Had to phone them when we arrived at 10.00pm because reception was closed.
Good location. Helpful staff
Simple hotel, but comfortable and very clean. Good location in the town center of Aix. Hotel staff are very helpful.
Location. Views from Lake stunning. Restaurants and bars lively but not too lively. Easy walking distance to Railway Station (10mins).
Nothing! This type of quality should not be advertised on the internet. Not clean, exceptionally small, no shower or bath, the lift measures less than 1square meter. Bad, bad, bad
Very friendly staff, room basic but clean and comfortable, good value for money, good location in a pleasant town. No really bad points except perhaps the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Spacious room, regarding the price Fair breakfast
Friendly staff at reception; very attractive pricing Rooms were small and basic. Bed was firm to hard; There was no parking available at or immediately outside the hotel (although there was a covered public carpark about five minutes walk away).
It is very central, near to the main square, shopping, parks, and right next to the baths. It is very cheerfully decorated and they have made the most of the oldish building without actually thoroughly modernising it. Parking is difficult, but they do have a garage behind the hotel in which you can leave your car for 4 euros per night.
The price and the food in the restaurant, I had a steak and it was excellent The room needed renovation and the bed was just adequate. Soft
nice city, quiet room. Cheap price. Original athmosphere.
nice hotel, old style, not the boring standard. And cheap. My second year here.
Very pleasant lady in a reception! Hotel in an old building with a romantic atmosphere. 6 free parking slots, close to a railway station, close to a centre, good choice. No lift, but it's a minor issue.
very well situated, close to train station
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. She was waiting for us in the lobby even though we arrived late to the hotel. The hotel was pretty clean and comfortable. It was acceptable an acceptable quality for the price (38 euros for one night). There were only 6 places to park in the small area in front of the hotel, but there were plenty of places to park on the street, and it was free because it was Sunday. The Annapolis is right on the edge of the main part of town, within walking distance from everything. Our room was attached to a large balcony. We did not hear any noise from other guests during our stay, but I don't know if there were many people at the hotel. We had a bathroom in our room (our room was a double). The bathroom floor had a few dirty footprints. The bed and sheets seemed clean but the pillow was one long pillow that was very hard. (We brought our own pillows so it did not matter.) The room was very small. Just outside our window and across the street is the train station, so there was some noise from trains (it did not keep us awake though).
It was a cheap hotel close in the center of Aix Les Bains. A reasonable price for offered services. Old bathroom. Watter seemed to be leaking.
The hotel is near the center, 15 minutes walking. It has a good price. It has free parking. The room and above all the bathroom are vey small. The smell when you enter the main door deter you from eating there. The parking was full when we arrived at the hotel, so we had to park the car outside.
Very kind staff, good breakfast, quiet room
the hotel manager is so friendly and helpfull .the hotel is very well maintain.near the center of the city. nothing-all was great!
