Location. Lots of towels. Damp carpet in room. No bathroom vent fan. Too much chlorine in indoor pool. Loud hallway echoes from the glass. Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Just seemed overall dirty and dated. Oh, no coffee or tea too.
It was fine for our needs. Nothing bad. Nothing exceptional. They upgraded us and our room had an awesome view Prices seed a little high. We went to check out a wedding venue. Lovely view but our guests would have to pay for a 3 night minimum at very high prices. We would not ask them to do that
Good location. Nice sized pool. Had both indoor and outdoor pool. WI-FI service was poor at best. Kept loosing connection and connection was slow
Room was not cleaned.
We have visited Cape May over a dozen times over the last 25 years (we were married there in 1992), and in that time we have stayed in several oceanfront hotels there. The rooms at the Grand were clean and comfortable, the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant served good quality food at fairly reasonable prices. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were kept up well, and towels weren't hard to find. At the Grand Hotel's price point, we expected a few more amenities, such as beach service (other similarly priced hotels provide chairs and umbrellas at the beach for their guests, and some even deliver food and drinks from the restaurant to the beach). I also have never stayed at a hotel with a price point over $250 with laundry facilities that were coin operated. I was also surprised that I couldn't charge my meals at the restaurant to my room, which was mildly inconvenient. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Grand, but we feel that it could have been a better value for the money.
Location Price Staff less than friendly. Hostess at rest rude.
Excellent Location, restaurant was great, room was clean. Parking was difficult even with their parking permit.
Cleanliness of room Unprofessional person at check in. Was carrying on two conversations while checking me in.
Comfortable clean waterfront hotel. Helpful staff quiet room. Close enough to the fun in town but far enough away to be quiet. Restaurant was closed so no room service either
Outstanding room with an amazing view, and a strong wi-fi signal.
proximity to the beach1 CHOICE OF RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA WAS NOT EXTENSIVE
Modern Staff eager for guests to check out first thing in the morning
I liked looking at the outside of the beautiful building and the hotel grounds. Our bed was very comfortable, and the concierge gave a good tour of the hotel. Our reservation was for a queen room, and I was surprised to receive a king which was my first choice. The floor in my room, hallway, and bathroom was very uneven. I felt I was on a ship. During the tour of the hotel, floors were uneven in places.
Spacious room, very clean, friendly staff, bicycle friendly - we kept our road bikes in our room. The cafe does not have any whole milk to froth for use in latte or cap. It's just not the same flavor with skim :-(
Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. Our trip was very brief, and we returned to the hotel around 11pm, following the event we had travelled to attend. My daughter had been fighting a cold and wanted some hot tea to soothe her throat. There are no microwaves or coffee makers in the room, and the Blue Pig was closed. However, a woman was doing the bookkeeping and we asked if was possible to get tea. She went to the back and made a cup for my daughter. I offered to pay or bill it to the room, and she said not to worry about it. Also, the valet service is so convenient and sanity saving, even in the off season. The fitness center is probably one of the least used amenities in any hotel, so the offerings aren't very robust. This holds true here as well. Two treadmills, an elliptical, a bike, and a bench with a rack of hand weights. My advice, pack a resistance band to beef up your options. It takes less space in your luggage than sock.
convience to shopping, beach, restaurants- comfortable beds, & an elevator-not all hotels have one in Cape May. they did not honor the booking by Booking.com --- they assigned me a not so nice town view (actually a roof view of another hotel!) I had booked & pd extra for an ocean view-had to insist on ocean view -but only got 2days then was moved to less desirable location. Will pursue this further with Booking.com & Congress Hall
The whole Christmas atmosphere. The hotel looked awesome! That was raining the next day! Other than that it was a good stay!
The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and did their best to answer all my questions about the area.
It is conveniently located -- right across the street from the beach and near the pedestrian mall and many wonderful restaurants. Also, parking is next to the hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Full service hotel in relation to others in Cape May. Centrally located very convenient. We had ants in the room, not a lot but annoying. The windows were very dirty on the outside (room 429). The tile / grout work in the bathroom was not very good. The water pressur could have been better in the shower. No whirlpool tub by the pool.
location,location,location--great room great view prime location in Cape May--quiet and comfy--nice seaside air in windows that actually open
It was clean and bedding was very clean. No odors on pillows. Nice size room and bathroom. Bathroom was very clean. The reception staff weren't too friendly. They never even asked how our experience was! We stoped for dinner one of the nights and the food was way over priced and had no taste.
Celebrated my 50th Birthday with wife & friends. Awesome! The Bouler Room was closed Saturday Night :(
quiet, room very inviting, fresh .shops easy to walk to . close to beach.we enjoyed our stay
Nice room, clean, comfortable bed, great shower. Quaint building, romantic for couples, really nice dining and bar room. Everything was fine except for... 1. How long it took to get me checked into my room because the girl at the front desk baby-talked each of the two individual guests in front of me, one at a time, rather than take the expedient course by showing everyone all at once the little details all guests needed to know. We were all standing right there, so it seemed to me that wasting other people's time like that was unnecessary and could have been handled better. 2. They stuck me up on the 3rd floor for no apparent reason, and I say that because it's off-season in Cape May right now so there were very few guests and I'm quite certain plenty of available rooms on the first and second floors. There's also no elevator. This was a work trip, I had just worked a 12+ hour day, and other than my suitcase which the concierge was nice enough to drag up there for me, I still had two laptops and other things and therefore had to make two trips up three flights of stairs. I really didn't like that, at all. In my opinion, any hotel with multiple floors should have an elevator. Making guests walk up several flights of steps just to get to their rooms is unacceptable. 3. The breakfast options on the card they give you, are limited. Also the times at which they will deliver it. If I recall correctly, the earliest they will deliver breakfast to your room, or you can even get it, is 7:30am. If you're on a work trip like I was, and you don't have time to be waiting around until that late in the morning, then if you stay at this hotel you'll likely wind up checking out and going out for breakfast on your way to the office instead.
The guy at the front desk was absolutely great. I forget his name (sorry), but he was working the weekend of June 14/15. He was friendly and helpful, and made me immediately happy with my choice. Also, at first I wasn't sure if I would be happy on the first floor, but there was minimal sound from other guests, and the first floor meant not having to drag my luggage up the stairs. Room included a kitchenette that was an added bonus. The room was a tad musty smelling (probably somewhat inevitable next to the ocean), though clean looking all around. The faucet in the tub needed to be super tightened to make sure it shut off. The landings/stairs that lead up to the other floors and the roof deck had some questionably soft spots. It appeared to all have been recently painted over, but every few steps one could feel the soft wood underneath.
Close to the beach and beach avenue there was not a lot of counter space, none at all in the bathroom.
Family owned, very clean, large rooms, location, view, excellent!
The Hotel Alcott has so much character! It is a charming historical hotel with beautiful furnishings, a delicious continental breakfast that was included in the price of our stay, and an exceptionally pleasant and efficient staff who were willing to go above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our time there. We had a wonderful trip and hope to visit again soon!
This is our first B&B experience and it has ruined us for hotels on trips to come. Our suite (Maple Leaf) had a comfy bed, beautiful view of the ocean and was cozy. Afternoon tea and breakfast were delicious. Elan and Susan were wonderful.
The location very convenient to everything
breakfast, tea time and location to the beach. One block walking distance from the beach. the room we stayed in was small and cramped. Our bathroom was not in the room but down the hall. Not very conveient for the middle of the night
Host was charming. Breakfast awesome. Distance for parking. I like to walk but being the only driver it was a bit inconvenient.
This was our third stay in Beauclaires and has become our favorite. The innkeeper, Joe, is an excellent host and makes everyone feel welcome. The breakfasts are delicious, and the people you meet at the breakfast table add to the family atmosphere. No.
Could not have asked for a better 3 days, then the getaway we spent at Beauclaires. The house was lovely. Steps from the beach, in the middle of the historic district, clean, elegant. Simply charming. Our host, Joe was the best. Laid back and easy going, and his breakfasts were to die for! We will be back on our next visit to Cape May!
We loved everything except for Joe's breakfast. He served the same egg bake 2 days in a row except the first day included corn and the next day included zucchini. However, the third day JoAnn served a wonderful breakfast!
The location was great The discription of the room and what we actually had was very different the room was very small and there were ants in the bathroom
We've stayed at many B&B's in Cape May and this one by far exceeded our expectations. Proximity to the beach, cleanliness, breakfast, host - all spectacular. The home is gorgeous, the experience was wonderful. Highly recommended
The Star is a cozy inn close to the beach, town, and next to Congress Hall which has a restaurant, bar, and shops. It's nice and quiet and a great value. If you're looking for a full service hotel experience, this is not it. If you want a clean, comfortable room in an old time guest house with charm, this is it! NA
On beach, walk to shops and resturants.
Clean room. Great view.
Great location. Friendly staff. Clean. Had nice extras, heated pool, fire pit, dinnerware in room if you wanted to eat in.
The inn keeper Doug is very charming, friendly and warm, Made me feel right at home. The breakfast was exceptional and the bed so so incredibly wonderful. The room is a little small but i believe that is what it to be expected in this area. The only'bad' thing I could say is that the water pressure was terrible in the shower. It's is wonderful that you still have full use of the facility for the day after check out. Love that we can use their bikes, towels, chairs , Have afternoon tea and coffee and drinks with the use of a bathroom ALL day after check out. Really gives you a lot more time Especially for us we live two hours away so traveling isn't a problem and we were able to enjoy the entire next day!
