Excellent value dinner and beautiful surroundings. towels did not smell particularly fresh Information about the menu and cost of the dinner was hard to get.
Banqueting food at the Wedding was fine even if service was poor, such as white wine unchilled, staff seemed inexperienced. The Manger tried hard but he has an uphill struggle ! It needs a lot of upgrading to be worthy of stars and price. Housekeeping was very poor, stairwells were a disgrace.Buffet breakfast for wedding guests was stone cold even if quality of food was good it was spoilt.
lovely surroundings rooms tired. health club tired and the place generally is a bit run down
Our room was very spacious breakfast was poor: late in arriving and cold when it did
Friendly staff and good service Room was poor. Noisy, no remote for tv, dodgy light switch.
The wedding was at 2 and they would not let us check in time to get ready for the wedding. I asked you for the wedding rate and you did not reply therefore we had to pay substantially more than everyone else. You could have replied to my message to you on our booking
The spa was excellent, the manageress was very efficient , friendly and helpfull. The superior room was excellent but let down by the lack of anywhere to hang clothes. We enjoyed the hotel but we had in fact booked for twol nights and the night before we stayed I was informed that due to some problem a room would not be available, we were offered a rooom and another hotel many miles away but this was of no use to us. I was told that they would offer us one of their superior rooms for the Saturday night and offered a bottle of wine to compensate, I suggested champagne and the girl said ok. On arrival at the hotel we found the receptionist to be not particularly friendly and not very welcoming. In the room we found a bottle of cava instead of champagne, I spoke to the manageress about this and she changed it for us, she in fact was very pleasant and helpfull unlike the fairly surly receptionist.
Peaceful location, great staff Poor communication between bar and restaurant. The barman was gone half the time just hand-carrying an order over to the kitchen. Why not put in a computer terminal for order entries, or even just a phone in the bar?
excellent leisure facilities, lovely setting the staff did seem under pressure
Breakfast was good, some of rooms were tired but comfortable all the same. If it is a no frills room for the night, this is ideal.
Room clean and comfortable. Shower had mixer taps, not easy to get desired temperatue.
Stayed at the hotel for a family function which was good and the catering and bar staff were good. It is a lovely building in a great location but its a bit run down and in need of investment.
Leaving Hotel and rooms were in desperate need of repair.
recptionist No tv, cold room
Good parking No tv remote control
The food and the hotel staff, We did not have any chairs in our room , we had to sit on our bed .
We had a quick and hastle free, check in and out. Our en suite room was great
Everything ; nice place, excellent hospitality from the personnel
The food was not great. In particular, the evening meal in the restaurant was poor.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere of Scottish country house hotel - plus great food
generally `ok with our visit - hotel was understaffed but staff were very pleasant and obliging. `room very good. But small things need to be improved eg no soap in bathroom, lack of hot water in shower etc. Meals not outstanding but adequate. We liked the general atmosphere in the hotel.. Traditional rather than modern. No musak no feeling of being in a chain hotel. Just fix the little things to be an outstanding experience.
well positioned, quiet and peaceful but close enough to walk into town in a few minutes.Friendly staff and good food. Some parts of hotel require updating.
The staff were all welcoming, friendly & helpful. For our 1-night stay, the room we had was stunning & had a king-size bed, great TV etc. Then, for our breakfast there was a splendid choice of continental & full Scottish. In the lounge, there was a lovely open log fire to relax beside before we checked out. Our stay couldn't have been better & we just wish it could have been 1 or 2 more nights.
We had been allocated a room which had just been renovated and was very comfortable. Nothing
Staff, surroundings, coal fire None
Food very good Service, especially pre-dinner, poor.
I have to say the breakfast was as good as anywhere I have stayed and gets full marks
congenial staff no
The hotel is in a relatively remote location and yet it has a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff were all very friendly. Food though expensive and of the nouvelle cuisine style, was beautifully presented, absolutely delicious and surprisingly filling. This is the second time I have stayed here and I would emphatically recommend it. I was on business and opted for it because it was one of very few hotels in the area. It was definitely a world away from my normal accommodation, and all the better for that. My room as on the previous occasion, was sumptuous, beautiful elegant modern bathroom with a bath and a separate shower big enough for two people to share. Large comfy double bed. It is quite easy to get lost trying to find the place even with Sat Nav. Bit it is well worth the effort. In fact be warned that the Sat Nav and indeed the road signs tend to take you on an unnecessarily circuitous route in order to make sure you arrive at the hotel via a very long drive. There is a much shorter route into the hotel from the A96 which I think is probably reserved for deliveries.
It was not over renovated. Seemed to be an authentic castle with a few frayed carpets and paint work required here and there. Good room service menu. Good breakfast. Check out was painfully slow (45 minutes) and the bills were wrong.
Location, food, staff, lovely and quiet The tiny room with it's view of the kitchen extraction flue (an executive room...). The hotel credit card charge was a blast from the past - an unwelcome one.
Pittodrie House is located in a very impressive scenery. The house is well maintained and the information provided on the website is accurate. Meals were excellent.
Old mansion house in lovely countryside. Open log fires in lounge and dining room created a relaxing ambience. Friendly staff. Felt dinner at £35 was overpriced for the standard of the food compared to other hotels at similar standard and price.
We attended a wedding at the hotel and it was very good for that
Very friendly staff who worked at making sure your stay was an enjoyable experience.Surprisingly pet friendly. Most days wedding held! That is the speciality but still ok
The room was comfortable and the staff friendly. TV only had 3 channels working. I went for breakfast at 7.00am and ordered a cooked breakfast immediately. At 7.40 I was still waiting for my food to come, as was everyone else. In the end I had to leave without anything to eat.Unfortunately I had already paid my Hotel bill whilst waiting for my breakfast.
Was all genrally good.
efficient booking in and olut tables too low to eat in the bar
loads of parking the bar/seating area ,too few seats available.
Food was of a "pub" standard - good, filling but expensive for what it was. Beds were comfortable Big, bleak, barren - very few other guests - dined alone with only one other family group on a Friday night. Limited menu although well cooked. Bedroom although large with high ceilings had only one tiny framed print on the walls, cobwebs on the chandelier, black mould around the bath. Very worn carpeting throughout the hotel. Very dated throughout.
The room was clean and had the appearance of being resently renovated. The on-suite was good and the shower/bath everything we could wish for. We only used the dinning room for breakfast but the dinner menu was very appetising and the dinning room was very busy all day on sunday. Fire door part way down corridor tended to close with a bang, causing some disturbance during the night. The room needed a chair or two as sitting on the bed was not particularly comfortable.
Close to local amenities. Bed gave me an awful backache the following day.
The size of the room was great, as were the staff. The room was not ready for us, the bed was not made and the room not vaccumed. The shower wouldn't work.
no hot water
Small box room with only a skylight, which smelt of stale cigarettes and mould. Hotel was also very noisy.
Staff were very friendly and attentive Rooms were not soundproof and could hear conversation from room next door
Only stayed one night so too little time to make a judgement inability to have a bar snack rather than a fully blown dinner.
The manager managed to change my booking from single to double at short notice & at a very reasonable rate. 3 staff members were very friendly & helpful. Nothing
4 poster bath had carpet , always a bad iead for hygiene, mold on the bathroom ceiling
Friendly staff, comfortable rooms & excellent menu
Very comfortable, excellent location, good breakfasts, and friendly helpful staff. The hotel is a bit "tired" overall. Was undergoing some work during this time, which also meant it was a bit short on facilities.
All hotels in this area are expensive. Full Breakfast at £12.50 is not out of line, but far too much for simple breakfast.
The food and the friendliness of the staff and owner. It is very peaceful We were given a double room instead of a twin but we were quite happy with the double
Location and facilities
The staff were very friendly and the hotel was set in beautiful grounds. The hotel was very good value as well.
The mattress were rather soft compared to our own ones at home but probably suited the average user perfectly well. We also requested a twin room but got two singles made into a double which was not too comfortable. But that would not stop me from using this hotel again, and they were very apologetic
The restaurant was excellent. Overall ambiance very good. Stairs were a small problem - I'd suffered a pulled calf muscle a week before my stay. Room was not as well appointed as I would have liked.
Food eas excellent, and location is beautiful Rooms need upgrading
Location and room No
the first room I was shown was a bit shabby, but the receptionist happily upgraded me to another room which was beautiful. Evening dinner was the best I had had in many months and staff extremely accommodating. Thankyou First bedroom I was shown was not very nice and I would not have been happy if I had stayed in that room
The staff were all very welcoming & accomodating.
Breakfast was lovely. surroundings could have been better..only grass cut and no real landscaping..This hotel could have beautiful gardens if they spent time on it. The beds were not comfortable and sunken in the middle, wallpaper was peeling off, finishing around bath - dirty silicon sealant.
We liked the old charm of the hotel - our "attic" bedroom was huge with a huge comfortable bed with lovely linen and a large bathroom . views over the grounds and countryside were lovely . Though, we didnt dine in, the menue read well and had been recommended by other friends It looks like the hotel has been rundown over the years (it used to be top grade) . The current owners seem to be on a refurbishment programme- it will take a while, good luck
The welcome and service by the staff and the food was excellent The hotel is in need of refurbishment. Though to be fair the painter had started on the entrance foyer, and there was paint samplers on the walls of the public areas
