We loved everything about Karama lodge and especially the extra care Eliaika took to book a perfect safari for us. The view from our room, the bar and restaurant is just fantastic. We loved the decor and fireplace in the bar area. The pool is shaded in the afternoon so good for extra hot days.
FYI for older guests, the road up is pretty bumpy! It would be nice if the lodge could get in-room safes (although we felt fine leaving things around).
The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was full and of good quality
There was no hot water when we arrived after a long trip. The electricity was cut for a while
Staff is friendly and helpful Breakfast was great In first seeing, feels so cool and green
Can get cold at night Drive up to the hotel is bumpy
I ordered off the menu a few time and the food was good. The breakfast buffet was decent but not great.
Like some others have said, if you are a light sleeper this may not be an ideal location. Nothing the property can control but there is a club down in town that plays music loud and well into the night/early morning hours. If this is the type of thing that would bother your sleep, be warned.
In many respects I think it was the best place I have stayed in Tanzania
I prefer to stay in a place where during daytime I can walk from the hotel. That seems not to be the case here. It seems that it is necessary to arrange a taxi. I think that this is a serious drawback:
When you stay at Karama Lodge & Spa in Arusha, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Arusha Clock Tower and Arusha International Conference Centre. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
