Pros: Great location near the train station. Close to great restaurants and markets.
Cons: It was a little hard to find as the entrance is kind of off the street.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very close to Kokura station, if you need to be connected to regional or national destination. Also close to some cover streets full of small and bigger restaurants. 10 min walk for Tanga market, if you would like to take a walk in a local food market. The hotel and rooms very clean. The people at the reception very helpful: some of them spoke good english, some a little less but trying hard to support me in my request. I would come back to this hotel if I pass again in this city.
Cons: Rooms a little small, ok for one person.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the ryokkan was perfect and beyond my expectations. The staff here are extra helpful and kind and they have multilingual employee, and they take care of everything for you including putting your shoes away and making your bed in time for bed. The outside and inside hotsprings are also very very nice. Also, the bus stops right in front of the ryokkan so even transportation is not bad.
Cons: I really could not ask for anything better since they exceeded my expectations. It's an amazing place.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Superb service from staff Delicious and healthy breakfast Various outdoor hot spring Clean and comfortable room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The tatami room was big, There's free shuttle to and from the train station. There's a side trip to see the fireflies at night. It's a quiet time as the area only has onsen. Should have booked room with all meals next time because the Japanese breakfast was beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I can't recommend staying here more. It is a beautiful Ryokan along a river with inside and outside onsens and a private family onsen that you can book for 40 minutes. The onsens are also open in the morning, so you can go for a quick dip before you check out. The staff and lovely and accomodating. We were picked up from the local train station and driven to the Ryokan. Upon arrival we were met by a fluent english speaking women, however language was never an issue. They have a great translation device and frankly if you can't use Google translate and body language to figure out what is going on then you're not trying hard enough. The dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious. The room was beautiful overlooking the river and we were provided with traditional Yukatas to wear around. The traditional tatami mats were very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Highly recommend staying here.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I like the private outdoor bath and the big terrace. The bed is also comfortable.
Cons: There is no darkening curtain so the sun shone in and woke us up in the morning. The duvet is too thick for this time of the year.
7.9 Good
Pros: The outdoor public hot spring is very good
Cons: No private baht room and the in-house sharing baht room is under expectation. The outdoor hot spring baht is very nice but it is outside the hotel. The open time is very late and evening time is a bit too dark to walk.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable, loved the family onsen! Excellent service!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the property was great! From the food to the rooms to the staff. We were put in 2 rooms with en-suite bathrooms; and both the rooms were right beside each other which made things very easy for us. There were free parking spaces directly across from the ryokan (literally 10 steps away) which made checking in and out an easy process. There is also a bus stop right outside the ryokan so using the public transport to get here isn’t an issue either. Seeing that we were unable to communicate effectively in Japanese, we were mostly attended by a Taiwanese staff, Yu-San, who was fluent in English, Mandarin and Japanese. PLUS she had an excellent sense of humour which made us feel at home. So you don’t have to worry if having a language barrier is a concern. She helped us with the reservation of the private onsen and the meals. She also tried her best to explain to us the seasonal ingredients used in the Kaiseki. I’d highly recommend this ryokan!
Cons: The outdoor public onsens did not allow patrons with tattoos which was a downer for most of us.

The hotel staff were sympathetic but unable to do much. They turned off the lights in our room while we hurriedly packed as otherwise the system would charge us for every minute we were over.
