8.0 Excellent
Pros: This cosy secluded little place is away from the hustle and bustle of Aswan and free of the hassle from taxi drivers. The little garden is very pleasant to sit and relax in. They organised a boat and taxi to the airport and it all ran like clockwork.
Cons: The shower in the bathroom was under a sloped roof which isn’t very comfortable.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The Stay was really amazing , the rooms really exceeded my expectation especially in terms of cleanliness , also the staff was super friendly ,special thanks to Ali and of course Ms. Puk for her suggestions and help to make our stay more than perfect
7.9 Good
Pros: The room is very comfortable and it has enough space for a couple. The place inside is beautiful and the entrance has nice flowers.
Cons: The guesthouse is in Elephantine Island so you have to take a boat every time to get there, nevertheless is easy to get the boats and the host is always available to help you find a ride.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner is very kind, she helped us to organize our stay in Aswan and provided us with all the information we needed to know. Ali, the boy that takes care of the house was very nice and made a breakfast box for us, waked up twice at 3 AM to help us preapare our trip and take us to the east side with the boat. The room is big and clean but with no heating system ( we used a radiator and it was very warm, but it made light in the room all night )
Cons: I didn’t like the bathroom, it’s very simple and uncomfortable. The door needs to be cut a little because you can not close it very easy, the shower needs a curtain because the whole bathroom is wet when you take a shower. The boiler made an annoying sound everytime someone used the water. The location is in a very poor area with unpaved streets and its difficult to carry your luggage ( ours were taken by Ali with a wheelbarrow so it was ok )
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Elephantine is an island in the Nile, historically in northern Nubia. The island is part of Aswan in southern Egypt. A car-free island with beautiful little paths between small houses and local residents. Mango House is close to the ferry and the owner of Mango House is a lovely Danish woman and her spouse, both settled down on this beautiful island with a long Nubian history. There was a family member more in the house - their nubian dog Bobby, who follows guests to and from the ferry. We had a fantastic stay, a lot of talk with both the owner and staff who all showed an incredible hospitality. The breakfast was a mixture of Egyptian and Danish, fresh baked bread and Danish coffee which smells great all over the house every morning. If you are traveling as a single, there is good opportunity to meet both couples and other singles in the large conversation kitchen. We highly recommend Mango House Lotus House, Luxor Lis
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Slightly tricky to get to (you need to get the boat from nearby KFC for 5 Egyptian pounds to get to the island), but a fantastic place to stay. Very friendly hosts, great breakfast, comfortable room!
Cons: My shower water seeped under the door into the bedroom - but it was a very minor issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We got the newly renovated rooms. The whole place was really nice and cozy. Staff was very helpful and warm. The guest house is right within the Nubian village so the experience is wonderful.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great. The Place was neat and clean. Easily the best Place to stay in Elephantine on his price range .
Cons: Elephantine Island is a quiet Place to stay, but It is a bit annoying to take a ferry for everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Easily the best place I stayed in Egypt. Puk is one of the few people who is running a place not to turn a profit, but because she loves Aswan (and Elephantine Island is an oasis of peace and calm amidst the ocean of noise and chaos that can be overwhelming in Egypt). The place is clean, the location is as central as you can get on Elephantine, everything works, the staff are friendly, the breakfast was great, and the dog Bobby is super friendly. I hate to say that Puk being a fluent English speaker is an advantage because that kind of mentality can be harmful to local alternatives, but it really does make things easier when you can avoid misunderstandings.
Cons: just wish there had been more nights available!
Mövenpick Resort Aswan - Aswan - Bedroom
3
9.0 Excellent (5,570 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A secluded oasis surrounded by lovely gardens on Elephantine Island. This 5-star resort offers 404 well appointed air-conditioned rooms with private facilities - mini-bar and satellite TV. All rooms have a balcony with views of the Nile - Aswan City or the desert beyond. Excellent facilities include The Orangerie Restaurant - two bars - swimming pool and kids pool.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pools are great and there are nice views from the panorama restaurant.
Cons: I only stayed at this hotel because the Sofitel was fully booked. The building and furnishings are ugly and outdated. It claims to be a 5-star hotel but isn’t. 5-star hotels do not provide paper napkins at breakfast. The breakfast buffet was sub-standard. The bar staff are incapable of making even the simplest cocktails: every cocktail we tried tasted nothing like it should have. The WiFi was very slow and sometimes didn’t work at all. Our shower was either boiling hot and with no pressure or freezing cold and with high pressure - nothing in between. The gym is a joke. There are so many cardio machines that there’s no room left for the weights: no bench press, no barbells and many of the dumbell wights are missing.
6.5 Good
Pros: Staff was very helpful! Relaxing atmosphere
Cons: hotel is not in good shape taking a ferry to get to the hotel not convenient if you're just staying for a night to go to Abu Simbel food was expensive and poor
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent everything! and with special thanks to the manager on duty Mr. Faroud he was so friendly and excellent, gave us strong support, we will surely come and stay again!
Cons: nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Simplicity of check-in procedure
Cons: Ferry supposed to run 24/7 however had to call the hotel to send one boat (early check-out) from mobile, because no instruction were provided how to reach anyone when you are at the landing station (hotel side) No robes and slippers provided in junior suite Different type of light bulbs by the bed, not the same strength on both sides Sink seems to have draining issue
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is perfect if the WiFi works better
Cons: WiFi network is always very weak
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything Aswan itself, nature, staff, food, the room, the view..

Kato Dool Nubian House - Aswan - Bedroom
4
8.8 Excellent (332 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Kato Dool Nubian House in Aswan, you'll be 6.9 mi (11.1 km) from Unfinished Obelisk and 6.9 mi (11.1 km) from Philae Temple. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located bang on the river front.
Cons: The approach to the hotel is through a dusty road and the rooms are too small. The wifi was not functional.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location on the shores of the Nile and in the heart of a Nubian village. Very helpful and polite staff and great food. Traditionally built and decorated. The Nubian village is to an extend tourist oriented with many shops and the usual harassment of the tourists (but not as bad as Cairo or Luxor) but also lively and good-hearted, with more camels than cars! You can see live crocodiles in captivity in a few houses if that's your thing. Kato Dool will arrange relaxing (and recommended) felucca sails or motor boats to Elephantine and Kitchener island as well as a short ride to Philae, from where you take the boat to the Temple. Be aware that the boat ticket is separate from the entrance to the temple and be prepared to haggle the price!
Cons: Kato Dool is open to locals and tourists alike for food and coffee. There is an area for the customers but not really secluded so it can get busy and noisy, with visitors and families often coming in to take photographs. On the other hand, it gives you a real feel of local life and it makes the place lively and interesting. After all, this is one of the reasons you come here! The room was on the small side but the bed quite comfortable. At night it can get chilly but they have a radiator which is more than enough. Overall I feel it is expensive for what it offers given the fact that there is not much you can do on your own. I would expect free rides to the airport at least or rides to Aswan and its market on specific times of the day for its customers (Just an idea). Overall I had a wonderful time there and definitely recommend it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are clean and authentic, and the staff is very friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, location just amazing you get up and see sunrise with Nile is like a dream Hotel very clean everyday new towels Staff very friendly, all the staff and especially Fateh nice guy who talked friendly with us and served many Nubian food I enjoyed every moment there highly recommend to relax and enjoy the Nature Food very very very delicious I will go there once again for sure
Cons: A little bit expensive but according to facilities, foodqualitiy and View I think it is ok
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic view of the Nile from my deck. Hospitable and kind staff. Good food. Loved the uniqueness away from the bigger downtown of Aswan. Highly recommend.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Beautiful views of the Nile. Mostly quiet so a nice place to relax.
Cons: Wifi was very slow and most times unavailable. Very far from most sites. Wouldn't recommend staying here as it is difficult to get around and there isn't much of anything to do around the Nubian villiage beyond hanging out with shopkeepers.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Nile view from balcony was perfect. Room was clean and quiet. Staff was very kind and helpful.
Cons: Shower doesnt work very well at early morning (2-4AM) but it could other time.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Food and view on the Nile
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is amazing
Cons: Friendly staff & the owner Habib is very nice man & he was very friendly with us
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Habib and Mohamed were both very lovely and helpful hosts. They made us feel comfortable and safe for the entire stay. The location was perfect for us away from all the chaos on East Bank. We thoroughly enjoyed chilling out/eating breakfast on the balcony every day. Amazing decor and Nubian style home.
Cons: We don't recommend doing the Abu Simbel tour through Habib. 500EGP just for transport and the drivers were rude/disorganised. Only option is to go at 3.30am but you are left waiting in the van for 45 minutes just out of town for the gates to open at 5am. No idea why they don't start pick up later if they know this is the case. We recommend organising privately to go later than sunrise as there are too many people around for it to be enjoyable. This obviously is not on Habib but wanted to warn future travellers. He handled our situation with grace and was apologetic for a few miscommunications that happened.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: They have almost everything which is needed during holidays.
Cons: Street lights and a bit darker at night, little scary though.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The view and the surrounding, the house is to close to el hawa mountain , just walking 7 minutes from the trian station then cross by couple of pounds by using local boat and from that peaceful side 10 minutes walking to reach to the house.

Pros: The owner is very kind and helps the costumers giving information about tours and prices
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast
Cons: Nothing in particular
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good rapport with the fine lady managing the hotel.
Cons: Superb location with a romantic view on the sandy hills overlooking the Nile.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The host was very nice and friendly , healthy breakfast and many things to visit nearby
Cons: The service is very good but it’s not good quality for money (the price for tourists is a bit too high compared to the price for Egyptians). Having said so, your stay is anyway going to be a good memory.
7.9 Good
Pros: Place is well painted with clean paintwork. Lovely view over the river. Good value for money.
Cons: The pillows were so hard that I didn't get much a comfortable night's sleep but this seems to be a thing in Egypt.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Good view from the terrace. Reasonably clean and comfortable with good value.
Cons: First off, the woman who works there had overbooked, so she put me in a neighboring property that seemed older and less in shape than Baba Dool. I didn't say anything because hey, this happens, and the much more social Baba Dool was just two properties away. I told her I wanted to stay two more nights because, hey, even though the property wasn't that great, I was okay with staying because I simply didn't want to keep moving as I had been the last several nights. She said 'okay okay no problem.' Later, I saw her arguing with another guest over money, and I became suspicious that maybe I hadn't been squared away, so I approached her again and asked to make sure I had 3 nights total booked. Once again she said no problem. I asked if I could pay, as that would confirm our understanding, and she said 'no, you pay tomorrow.' The next morning, she comes and asks, 'when you check out?'. I told her I thought I had 2 more nights booked, and she said no, it's finished. I asked her why she hadn't blocked out the nights like I had requested, and she said that I should have done that on booking.com if I wanted the rooms. So I had to emergency find another hotel on the island and paid quite a bit more (it was a busy season). Very unhappy about this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Baba Dool is a beautiful Nubian style guest house located in a small village on Elephantine Island in the Nile river opposite the centre of Aswan. Staying at Baba Dool gave us a glimpse of traditional Nubian life in a peaceful environment just minutes away from the the crowds and the persistent hustling of downtown Aswan. Our hostess was extremely accomodating and was able to advise or make arrangements regarding all the local places of interest. In addition, her mother is an excellent cook!
Cons: The guest house is quite small and would not be suitable for business travellers or those seeking five star luxury. It would be helpful if more information could be provided about taking a taxi and the ferry from the station or the airport.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner is very friendly, help me out with everything (things to see, activities, ...), the meals she is cooking are delecious, the guesthouse is really nice, lot of colors and décorations, its really quiet (no noise from cars honking, ...) and view on the Nile. because I loved it I extended my stay there. It was perfect, for that price you can’t even complain
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly , very unique location , if you want to relax and enjoy the real Aswan baba dool is the best choice and also they are too friendly
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The tenant was very nice and helpful
Cons: A bit noisy due to the boats going around the island (nothing earplugs can't fix). The room was cold.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is in Elephantine island, it is quiet and the food is great!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing, a good variety of food and we weren't hungry anymore after that. We had a view on the river in our bedroom. And the hosts were really nice and helpful.
Cons: As the location is really near the Nil, there are a lot of mosquitos. Moreover, the bathroom was clean but the shower is at the same place than the toilets, so everything is wet.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Abdelrahmen and his family are doing everything to make you feel like home and you get a different stay in the middle of egypt life in aswan
Cons: -
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Open and clear communication. I had booked room with breakfast and had to leave early morning next day. They gave 4 sandwiches, that was very filling and fresh.
Cons: It's not a guest house. It's a room(or 3rooms)that they rent in their house. 1 toilet/bathroom is shared between the family members and the guests. I don't mind the sharing toilet/bathroom, but it was not clear at the time of booking. The detail says shared bathroom. There were no curtains in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Nile view from my bedroom window was amazing. Especially at night. Spacious room with large bed. Very friendly Staff. Ready to help and answer every queation. Great contact on Whatss up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Big thanks for Abdelrachman and his family!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Abdelrahman was so helpful and his mother, too! They were welcoming and I did not feel pushed to sign up for any private tours. The guesthouse is a few steps from the ferry stop and very convenient. New rooms are being added on the top floors. I wish I could have stayed longer. I recommend this Nubian guest house!
7.1 Good
Pros: Very helpful
Cons: It's a home stay place..across the Nile ..not very clean
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Super helpful staff. Quiet place and very close to the ferry (1 minute by foot). Good breakfast. I booked the Abu Simbel tour with them, they will help you to cross the Nile with a boat at 4 am (no ferry so early) and they also give you a few sandwiches for the trip. All perfect!
Cons: The only thing is, to find the exact location, I didn't see any sign with the name. But a few children over there asked me "where do I go" and they told me it was "there" (I was in front of the building due to Google Maps). Shared bathroom (3 double rooms for 1 bathroom) but very clean and spacious! Maybe a bit busy during the morning if none of the guests took the Abu Simbel tour (4 am/1 pm tour).
Bet El Kerem Guesthouse - Aswan - Building

8.4 Excellent (95 reviews)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Abdel and his staff make the enjoyment of your stay their top priority. Everyone is kind, attentive and generous. The food was delicious, the beds were clean and comfortable and whatever you may want to do for the day is at your fingertips. Bet el Kerem has been the highlight of our time in Egypt so far.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location over looking the tombs of the nobles which is well worth a visit. The colors are incredible. All the staff were very helpful. The food was the best we’d had in Egypt. I’m glad we chose to have dinner here. We highly recommend this place and would love to stay here again! Wish we had booked more than 1 night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything. The guest house is on the West Bank which means you're isolated from the busy city and the noise. But it's also 2 mins from the local ferry which means you can reach the city in less than 10 mins for 2 pounds without any hassle unlike gharb soheil island. It's the perfect balance between calm and accessibility. The guest house is very clean and the breakfast is very good. We also had lunch twice there and it was excellent. Abu Karim, the owner, makes amazing food, is very generous with the quantities and constantly checks if we're happy and if we want anything. The roof is very cute, it's where you have breakfast/lunch and you can just chill there. They have tea and coffee available all the time, mineral water, and an assortment of fruits, all of which are free of charge. The staff is super nice and helpful. I enjoyed my stay a lot, and I'll definitely be going back there.
Cons: The bathroom in our room doesn't have walls, it's in the corner of the room with curtains around it. This made it a bit uncomfortable for us to use the toilet because it's awkward when other people are in the room and also you worry about the smell. However, there are several bathrooms outside the rooms so it compensates for the room's bathroom and it didn't affect our stay at all. Using the shower in the room was good, I didn't need to use the one outside.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Abdel was a delight. Very hospitable and friendly. Exceptionally clean. Wonderful views from the terrace.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The silence
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Localisation but most of all, great atmosphere from the owner
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great stay at Bet El Kerem guesthouse. The house itself is an old Egyptian family house with a beautiful garden and sparkling clean common areas. Great rooftop with dining area and Nile view. The breakfast cooked on site every day is delicious, especially shakshuka and taameya (Egyptian falafel). Location is very convenient 5 minutes walk from the arrival of the West Bank ferry. The guesthouse also houses a travel agency which organises activities in and around Aswan (camel safari, trip to Abu Simbel, felucca ride to Kom Ombo) with excellent service providers and at prices much lower than the ones proposed on cruise ships for example. The owner Abdel is very helpful and takes care of every detail along the way. Definitely a very good pick for a 4-5 days stay in Aswan, the wonderful capital of Nubia
Cons: The only negative point was the shortage of hot water in the bathrooms' hotel, which is hard during Egyptian winter! This should be fixed soon but better to check status with the owner before arriving.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very cozy, staff really friendly
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This the perfect place to stay for anyone who likes to have a more personal and local experience. We liked the fact that it was a home from home with fruit, chilled water, teas and coffee to help ourselves to at any time. The house was decorated in the Nubian style, painted a bright blue with bright fabrics and soft furnishings. Its slight imperfections were its charm. The roof terrace was laid out for dining and relaxing and was cool and quiet. The garden was likewise a quiet and shady place to sit or walk round. Our host, Abdul couldnt have been more welcoming or taken more trouble to ensure our stay was enjoyable. He even did our washing and arranged for ironing. He is a great cook and serves a fresh buffet and meal in the evenings and willingly prepared vegetarian food for us. He also arranged a good driver for a return trip to Abu Simbel which was a fantastic day out (including a large packed breakfast). We really enjoyed getting the ferry to the East Bank which was quick and runs constantly.
Cons: There is nothing we didnt like
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The local connection was incredible. Abdul was an amazing host and showed us true Nubian hospitality. Breakfast was delicious and the two dinners we had prepared by the onsite cook were incredible. We loved sitting on the roof-top terrace, overlooking the nile and the Noble tombs, and enjoying the quietness of the area. It was also fun to take the local ferry across the Nile, away from the hoards of tourist crowds.
Cons: Everything was fantastic@
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best food we've had in Egypt. Their food is much better than in those expensive restaurants in Aswan. We enjoyed watching sunset and sunrise from the rooftop looking at the desert and the Nile. Sparkling clean. Mr. Abdel is knowledgable and took good care of us. When I go
Cons: None

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place itself was beautiful with a stellar view. The food was delicious. Most importantly, our host Khaled, was the most sincere and helpful person ever. He arranged Abu Simbel tour for us as well as made sure we went to the Kalabsha Temple with his car. He also dropped us to the train station himself and had his cousin pick us from the airport. Everyone else at the property is also very friendly. It felt like home and we would definitely go back again!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Khaled who is owner of the guest house is main man. His attention to customers is everything. He doesn't have all ultra modern gadgets in hand but his attitude to help you makes all the difference. He treats his guests more like a family member.
Cons: Internet connection is poor. But tell you what I am glad I didn't have that to really bother about constantly updating folks back home. Enjoyed peace and serenity of a quaint village . Sitting on terrace day and night and watching Nile flow was amazing experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I spent a vivid vacation at Eka Dolli guest house, one should say that this was real hospitality with kind and helpful staff Ibrahim and Tallat, in particular, were extremely nice and continued working all the time to guarantee that we have the best vacation. Khalid the owner is an honest and kind person with a wide smile. The food is beyond delicious thanks to the great Chef ♥ Rooms are clean with private bathrooms and AC . 4 days in heaven and we will be coming back next year! Thanks ♥ p.s this was my second visit to Eka Dolli and we are coming for a third longer visit:D

Pros: This is a fabulous guesthouse. Yes, it is away from the centre of Aswan, but that is exactly what I wanted. Khaled is the perfect host, and I felt very welcome, especially as I was travelling solo. Khaled also provided transportation when need as well as arranging my tour to Abu Simbel. I highly recommend a stay at Ekadolli in the Gharb Soheil Nubian Village. It is peaceful, cultural and food is amazing. Great value for money.

Cons: Overall facilities!
6.0 Good
Pros: The location was perfect, right on the Nile and lots of restaurants/stores around. Room was very big and we had a lot of space. Friendly hotel staff always willing to help.
Cons: Bathroom hot water for the shower did not work the first day, and thereafter leaked out into the whole bathroom whenever we showered. The breakfast was awful - was not a buffet and the wait staff did not pay attention to us - so we only ever ate the bread already on the table, and only my wife ever received coffee. WiFi non-existent.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location infront of the Nile and near to old market, View from room balcony, room facilities and good breakfast.
Cons: When we arrived they informed us that they have an issue in credit card terminal and it is not working and we should pay in cash. Room cleaning did not happened on daily regular basis, during our 4 days stay they missed 1 day.

Pros: Had a very comfortable stay at Philae Hotel with super clean, tastefully furnished rooms, having many amenities. I was picked up at the airport in the very early morning and at reaching the hotel given a warm welcome. Not only that morning but daily an extensive breakfast was provided. I loved it and took my time to enjoy. The rooms are immaculately clean. I slept like a princess :). Staff is friendly and professional; and also helps with arranging activities in and around Aswan. I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel’s ecological approach to energy: the warm water is entirely provided by solar panels (picture) during the summer and largely during winter. Definitely a must, also as it is in the center of town and the view from the rooms are stunning! (Picture)

Mövenpick Resort Aswan - Aswan - Building
