excellent breakfast This was my second time at Palmenwald. The first time, although I requested a twin room with single beds, I got a double bed and a room with a picture window into the bathroom - nice for a couple, but not for two middle-aged travelling companions! The second time I requested a double room for a couple, but got a room with two single beds. When we asked for a change of room, we were told that there were no double beds - that was the "Bulgarian" style and we should push the beds together, even though the bedheads and bedside tables would then be out of position. Clearly this was not true anyhow, because I had previously had the opposite problem!
It was a nice experience to stay in a new refurnished hotel with a lot of cozy facilities. I hope to come back soon to this hotel.
Breakfast was great, rooms very comfortable, restaurant food also great. Good range of facilities and friendly staff.
Nice classic hotel with friendly staff. Nice restaurant and convenient Spa and swimmingpool Nothing to report
Very nice restaurant, good breakfast
Friendly personnel Internet did not work in rooms and on central computer in lobby. Not very near to city centre.
Spacious facilities and excellent spa facilities. Very clean and relaxing infinity indoor pool with relaxing music. Sunny drinks terrace and ample breakfast. 15mins easy walk from the town centre but meant we could park the car outside the hotel. We visited at low season so the restaurant lacked a little atmosphere
Swimmingpool was great and the sauna! And the restaurant had good kids menu.
High Quality, Spacious Family Apartments, Nice Swimmingpool, free internet PC, free PS2, free midgetgolf & games Kitchen & Restaurant was reasonable
Very good range of facilities available. Choice of breakfast or breakfast/dinner as part of stay. Family friendly - baby cot (real cot, not a travel cot), diaper pail all available.
the spa area no
Good location, free public transport in the region, sauna facilities, excellent kitchen, very kind and professional staff.
Very clean and friendly, excellent for children the location was not so central
Our apartment was a little bit isolated, what was just great!
Best hotel where I have ever been :) Smiling hotel like my daughter told.
The attention to detail and the welcoming nature of the staff was very evident. As a top class hotel it is to be expected but the nature was not overly formal and you felt very comfortable. They could not do enough to help. The food was of a very high standard, the Michelin 3 start French Restaurant apparently had a 6 month waiting list, unless cancellations. However, the main restaurant was excellent. The breakfast choice was exemplary! Just a nice place to be and as relaxing or as busy as you would want it to be. They have a 'morning paper' of the day's events and there is always plenty arranged. When we were there, tempertures rose to 35 degrees and the hotel corridors and rooms could feel a little warm as there was no air conditioning, but that was only our opinion. Menu was available in english, but the morning newspaper was in german, but there were staff to speak to re. events/excusions etc.
Extremely nice and friendly hotel, good balance of style full and relax atmosphere. NO
Very nice place extremely attentive staff if a bit stiff ambiance heady clientele. Best for local and national government administration elite.
the setting of the hotel within the mountains and the breathtaking views from every corner .breakfast was great and generally the mix of peacefullness and hiking the mountains is excellent dinner takes too long and the food was not great.they got our booking wrong (put us in the old building rather than the new and didnt go out of their way to make ammends)
it had a nice big outdoor swimmingpool next door. (not part of the hotel) have seen friendlier staff, room was not always cleaned properly. Hotel was very much aimed at older people, not quite the place for a family to go.
fantastic location, staff, food, SPA, coffee hut 500 metres up the hill. The beds completely destroyed all the benefits of the SPA and massage
Everything was beautiful, all details (colours, form, materials) were cared for. We couldn't get a wellness cd to listen music on our room, because they were gone.
Perfect location to spend a few days in the Black Forest. Nice hotel with rooms overlooking the forest and a little lake, swimming pool and sauna to relax after exercise. Hotel sttaff very friendly. Good restaurant. Nothing to declare, although not fit for people expecting a brand new hotel. It's a charming old hotel, run by charming people, located in a charming place.
Nice environment by the lake. So the lake view room is the most important conidtion. Even though we booked early still there was no room with lake view allocated. As we requested, they put us to a very small room with an indirect view of the lake. Feels like international travellers are not their priority.
Fabulous food, charming, and better than expected.
We were looking for a weekend escape and certainly found it at this idylllic hotel. The grounds were exquisitely maintained and perfectly located. The staff was fun, welcoming and helpful. The food was divine: lots of fresh, locally grown produce and imaginative dishes. And the pampering opportunities were endless: saunas, salt water soaks, massages, beauty treatments. The big kids loved the hiking trails and adjacent swimmbad, and the little one loved the swans and ducks in the lake, as well as the small indoor pool. Not really....maybe a coffee pot in the room??
really a great location at a sea, comfortable, cosy and clean room. Rich and tasty breakfast no functioning internet access, eventhough it was advertised to be one
I liked everything about this hotel, ass soon as I checked in I relaxed more than I have ever relaxed before, the facilities are excellent and far beyond clean, I would reccomend this hotel which is in the heart of the black forest.
My husband and I were in the Black Forest area for business and stayed at Hotel Landhaus Waldesruh for two nights. The hotel is family run and small which makes it even better. The room was quite spacious and very clean. The breakfast was also excellent with quite a lot of choices for a small family run hotel. Not to mention that the staff (family) and the other guests were very friendly and helpful.
Locaion, near some nice walks, and not too far from the main town, which is worth visiting.
The food and the presentation leaving!
A nice swimming pool and sauna, tea served in the pool-sauna area. Good breakfast with local specialities and in general the food served in the restaurant is nice. Poor information upon arrival about the hotel and what to do in the area. The "standard" double rooms are with old furniture, not cosy and not recommended if you want to spend a romantic weekend. The hotel is situated on a principle road which was not seen from the photos on internet.
This is an old inn that has had very modern accommodations added to it without disturbing the atmosphere. We were stunned to find that, when we looked out of our window late at night, not a single point of light was visible. For a way-out-in-the-country experience without any discomfort, this is a great and very pleasant buy. This is the real Black Forest, without the touristy stuff!
A very friendly and homely feel to the place - great blend of old classic style and modern refurbishment. The staff were friendly, attentive and the food was absolutely incredible. Try the Chateau Briand. :) Nearby there were nice walks through the forest to a lake and a waterfall. Great driving roads too. We were there off peak so it may be much busier at other times of the year...
The location of the hotel was excellent for walking, and the level of cleanliness very good indeed. The swimming pool/sauna was also a pleasant surprise. The towels were not replaced and no extra toiletries were left to replace those used. The standard of cooking of the evening meal left much to be desired and did not compare to the other nine hotels we had stayed in during a three week holiday and they were all of a similar standard.
Very nice setting lovely area.Nice food.Owner was very helpfull as we could speak very little German.
Our hostess was very pleasant and patient (we don't speak much German). She made our stay very comfortable and was able to help us locate some sites we wanted to see (we left our guide books at home). The restaurant is on par with a 4 star restaurant here. We ate in the restaurant every evening and I loved everything we ordered. Breakfast was also very good with a selection of luncheon meats, cheese, bread, cereal, juice and yogurt. We had a table reserved for our party which made us feel very at home. There is a wonderful walking trail that starts right behind the hotel. The views from our windows were beautiful. When I asked for an extra pillow, one was very promptly delivered. We had a wonderful stay in the black forest and would love to go back to Ochsenwirtshof for another visit.
swiming pool, sauna, cuisine, care of guests satisfaction .plaisant hotel staff, cleanliness, high comfort and sound proof of our rooms. absolutely nothing.
comfortable rooms, pleasant/quiet atmosphere, good food and very pleasant/helpful staff
Good restaurant try the steak and schnitzel, very friendly staff, good location for walking in the Black Forest
A very pleasant traditional Black Forest hotel. With a lot of snow around, the views from our room were super. My wife unfortunately forgot her new necklace, but when I phoned hotel that evening from far away they had rescued the necklace from our room and offered to post it home to uk. Fantastic honesty and service. The access road and ramp down to garage was tricky due to some snow. I would never have found the hotel without my gps. Brilliant tool.
Breakfast was bountiful and tasty. The surrounding countryside was picturesque. The bathroom was spacious and the shower worked well The parking was not adequate
the staff was polite & helpfull, the restaurant - very good. we liked the breakfast meal and also the dinners.the swimming pool is nice unsatisfied toilette filling. we stayed 3 days at the hotel &* got only 1 small soap. no adding used materials - the basket remained empty after using the stuff.
Excellent location, good breakfasts, motorcycle friendly, staff tried very hard Swimming pool was very cold, making it unuseble. Chef/patron was a bit misrable.
Very well maintained
nothing rooms were tired and in need of updating.area was very drab and quiet.food was terrible
Extremely helpful, food fantastic, very clean large rooms. Well positioned hotel to explore The Black Forest. Nothing !!!!!
Great receptionist and manager-extreemly helpful, polite and made my stay that extra special/personal. Room was a very decent size with balcony and very comfotable beds. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent. No laundry service
A very well run hotel.Excellent breakfast.Typical German hotel that has been in same family ownership for years The evening meal was expensive meaning we ate elsewhere
The staff was excellent and the rooms were very clean. The hotel is close to many restaurants and shops. IThe hotel is located along a very busy street. It did not look as if the hotel has many rooms that are not located next the the street. We stayed in August and had to open the windows. The road noise was significant and went until very late into the night and started up again very early in the morning. So, if you plan to visit during the summer and cannot get a room away from the street, then I would recommend looking for a quieter location.
Hotel staff was very friendly and spoke English; breakfast was included in room rate and was very nice (fried eggs on request); centrally located for stores and restaurants Hotel restaurant is very expensive, so ended up eating at a very nice brewery in town; room is small, but still could accomodate a family of four comfortably
The owner was impressive; her enthusiasm and pleasant demeanor was such a plus. We also had dinner at the restaurant. What a lovely surprise...fine dining in this charming little town! Absolutely no complaints. All around, just a pleasant surprise in this unassuming little hotel.
Friendly staff and owners created a good atmosphere for exploring this wonderful area of Germany. Excellent breakfast and very clean well appointed room.
The restaurant is top class for a very fair price Disabled persons should be warned that there is no elevator. Price for stay should be 15% less
Good location at city center. Nice restaurant.
This was our first hotel after our trans-Atlantic flight and we slept like logs. The beds were very comfortable.
Convenient to the town square and train station. Very nice breakfast. Very homey and comfortable.
clean, well appointed room, good new compact bathroom, free parking out front of hotel on main road hotel locked on arrival ,unable to check in until 5.30pm, located on busy road, traffic noise in room did quieten down late in evening
Friendliness of staff. Location. Excellent estaurant
peace and quiteness and its isolated location the chlorine smeel from the pool in my room
Nice clean and very quiet hotel, staff very friendly. Not really an ideal hotel for business unless you want a quiet night within your mobile phone because there was no reception. However internet access was free in the lobby.
The welcome we received really did make us feel that they had been looking forward to our arrival. There was nothing that we did not like about this hotel.
Good Setting, good parking, easy to find, pleasant staff and very good food.
pleasant staff and the foold
We enjoyed personalised attention and care. All our needs were attended to beyond the 'call of duty' in a friendly and helpful manner. We were travelling on motorbikes and it was good to find a place which goes out of its way to help when there is a need for repairs.Thank you very much we enjoyed our brief stay. Perhaps we will make it longer next time. No everything was interesting as it was our first time in Germany but all of high quality. To be recommended as excellent English spoken and reasonably priced.
family atmosphere, excellent food, friendly personalised service, beautiful location, ideal for walking No - lived up to expectations
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the location in the Black Forest was ideal to tour the beautiful villages, towns and major tourist attractions.
We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Smoked trout starter and steak main course and everthing was lovely. The service was great. This is a good place to stay to see the beautiful forest and there is a waterfall a short 10 minute walk from the hotel. Just go. Nothing!
The family atmosphere and the wonderful reception.
The room is clean and comfortable. And the staff is nice, welling to help you.
The staff went beyond the call of duty and were very friendly.
The staff were generally very helpful and kind and we felt very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them It was situated on a busy road and our bedroom overlooked this. There were no hotel grounds as such. The organisation of the restaurant was sometimes chaotic and staff were not always able to tell us which table was ours. The restaurant closed on Tuesday which was surprise but we were given an excellent meal in place. However this was very expensive.
Such a personal stay, and very relaxing. Loved that each member of the family and staff greeted us at our table for breakfast and dinner. Rooms, location, food and service were up to a 4 star standard. Would highly recommend staying here.
Very good resturant both for breakfast & dinner, staffs were very helpful.
Everything - the room, meals, decor, cleanliness, and staff were marvellous. A real find and great value for our money. The special touches - ie. reserved table with name on table ceramic for breakfast buffet. Again the food was phenomenal.
Very good hotel good service/very good food
