9.5 Excellent
Pros: The host was very nice and the house was beautiful! It was convenient to the Cabot Trail and a cute downtown area.
Cons: One of our rooms was a bit tight, but it was very nice. Breakfast was nice, but we expected more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hosts, comfier bed, great location, good local knowledge.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Hosts were lovely, with tips for our next day's travel and dinner recommendations. Room was spacious and attractive. Breakfast was fabulous, buffet style and available from 0730 so early departure was possible. We loved it and would have liked to stay longer. Temperature was over 30 C when we were there - although the ceiling fan worked well, aircon would have been welcome.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So welcoming and cozy!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The bed and breakfast is both quaint and beautiful, unique and homey, charming and gorgeous. The owners were some of the kindest and most welcoming people we’ve had the privilege to meet. We regret we couldn’t stay longer and spend more time. The breakfast was delicious, with special touches like homemade jam, homemade salsa with eggs, and delicious bread. We slept like a charm and it was exactly what we wanted. It would be an absolute first recommendation for Cape Breton/Nova Scotia are. We felt like family and like we were at home!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts. Immaculately clean. Wonderful breakfast.
Cons: The room was very small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, hosts and breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best pear pancakes I have ever tasted!
Cons: Bed is too soft for my liking!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The feeling that I had a little ‘piece of heaven ‘ away from home. Jan and Glen where very welcoming and made everyone feel like they were ‘special’. Very peaceful and rejuvenating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. the place was cozy with a little history. The breakfast was very good; first day had a special made apple pancake which was really good; very tasty. the second day was scrambled eggs with breakfast meat. there were other options in case we weren't interested in the home made specials. Very close to the town. the place was very clean. we got to see humming birds right outside the living room window.
Cons: surprised by seeing a dog when they opened the door at arrival. When we noted my wife was intimidated by dogs, they didn't move the dog away, they explained that the dog was very friendly. We would have preferred that they moved the dog to another room and explained about the dog . the dog ended up being friendly, but I didn't see the value of expecting us to take a chance when they could have just moved the dog to another room. I understand the dog is part of their family and they have great confidence in it; a lot of words about the dog; it's very, very friendly and we had no problem; I just didn't like that fact that they didn't remove it during check in to allow us to gradually accept it.

Cons: Nothing What could be improved: I may have missed it, but online, it did say that you check in down the street. We had lugged our bags to the front door and read the sign there. We just left all our bags outside on the porch while we made the short walk and back to check in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view. The location. The friendly home atmosphere. Kitchen facility. Wonderful dinner at Telegraph House.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location!!!!
Cons: It was disconcerting that except for the breakfast server there is no staff on site. Nobody to give you an extra towel, travel advice etc. Never stayed in a place like this and I really didn’t like that part of it. Our air conditioner was an old rattle trap, too.

Pros: It was in the town we wanted to be in. It had a kitchen so we could do some of our meals there.

Pros: We loved the view of Baddeck Bay from the large windows of our room. Breakfast was good.
Cons: I had sent the host a message that my husband cannot have gluten and he had clearly forgotten. He made my husband an egg as he could not eat the quiche which was the main item served for breakfast. There were also a few other things he could eat so all was well.

Pros: The owner had some great stories about the history of the area which he shared as we enjoyed the terrific breakfast he provided.

Pros: We were so grateful that the host changed the room from the second floor to the first floor for us because my little son caught a sore hip and hardly move that day. Pros: Broadwater Inn was very charming. Our room had a beautiful view of the lake. Our bathroom was across the hall but was for our use only, had a claw foot tub and a full free standing mirror. We were able to see into a few of the other rooms in this inn which also looked very charming. The Inn is beautifully decorated capturing the style without being overwhelming. Breakfast was good. John was very helpful, even provided us with his own hand drawn map of the Cape Breton trail. We did need to drive to the main area of town for dining but this was not a problem at all as there was plenty of parking.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to town and very clean
Cons: Not anything to complain about!

Pros: The Inn was so close to everything. We walked downtown and to the wharf in minutes. Very quiet and nice clean rooms. You wouldn’t know anyone else was staying in the Inn. Very pleasant and informative staff.
Cons: Our bed was pretty hard but you can’t please everyone.

Pros: Everything in the room was charming, the hotel was lovely and tbe restaurant and bar were very good.
Cons: The beds were a little too firm, so not as comfortable as I had hoped.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Super location near cafes and activities !
4.5 Okay
Pros: Great location. Lots of character
Cons: Beds were horrible. Room could have been cleaned better. Restaurant service was terrible.
6.8 Good
Pros: The location was pretty great, the staff was friendly and the onsite laundry was great
Cons: The beds very very hard and uncomfortable. The A/C unit was loud. I don't know what cleaners they use, but the odor lingers.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We loved the ambiance, the antiques and Victorian feel. The shower and whirlpool tub were amazing. The room had air conditioning. The restaurant had decent food and the staff were very friendly. The hotel was very quiet and we did not hear the other guests at all.
Cons: No elevator. The parking lot was over-filled so we had to go back out late in the evening to move our vehicle from a temporarily assigned spot. The restaurant food was just average so the menu felt a little pricey.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location and food was very good.
Cons: It may sound petty however for the money you pay however I found the rooms were not overly clean, I also found the towels to be extremely thin and small, on the second day they only gave us one towel, we had to go and ask for more, no blow dryer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of this hotel is great! We had a nice balcony and the room had coffee, microwave, and refrigerator which is always nice... Not to mention there were two wine glasses and a wine opener that came in handy! The AC worked GREAT and we had a great night's sleep! A few minutes walk to a great restaurant called the Freight Shed that I would highly recommend. After dinner, we sat on the balcony and could hear the live music from the hotel restaurant. Great stay!
Cons: We loved everything!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were great. Loved the shower and huge bathroom! Fridge and micro are a plus. Beds were comfy, bedding very nice
Cons: View from all balconies is disappointing. Not the hotels fault. I assumed they were on the waterfront not beside the main road. Price is a bit steep for no breakfast included.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is super clean, the bed cover looks luxury. The furniture looks not cheap.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location; great restaurant with outdoor seating;
Cons: Nothing.
Telegraph House - Baddeck - Bedroom
7
8.5 Excellent (482 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Telegraph House in Baddeck, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Bras d'Or Lake and Gilbert H. Grosvenor Hall. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.0 Good
Cons: Room size, non A/C
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location / Authentic
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location (across from a bakery). Rooms were spacious and clean. Comfortable even without air conditioners. Could park right in front of the rooms.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff. The front desk staff were extremely friendly, accommodating the fact that we had double booking with different rates, accepting to put us at the same room for the entire time. Also, the place is located in such a strategic spot with perfect access to whatever available in the town, and easy drive to the Cabot Trail.
Cons: Just was hoping if there was a bit of food provided to us as staying in the motel, but no big deal. Also parking can be a little bit tricky, as some guests arrive in more than one car. I suggest number the spots as per the rooms, so everyone knows they have a dedicated spot, and for those with extra vehicles, they should arrange that for themselves.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is as good as it gets in Baddeck. Views of the water are spectacular, walking distance to almost everything in downtown.
Cons: No air conditioning in our unit, but is available in some, you do need it since the lights in the parking lot require you to close your curtains even though the nights are moderately cool in late August. Their internet WIFI did not work, not for lack of trying. They apologized for that and had multiple Bell Atlantic people working on it. No fault on their part. Would definitely stay there again. The staff are extremely nice.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect in down Baddeck, close to restaurants, shops, laundromat, etc. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: Air conditioning was not great but it is an older facility.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent dining room with lovely home cooked food. Not cheap but worth every penny.
Cons: There was a lack of privacy around motel rooms.
6.8 Good
Pros: The rooms are cute with cute furniture. The location is great. The property was clean.
Cons: The staff were courteous but not overly friendly and check in was delayed because the room was not clean yet (at 3:40 pm). The restaurant at the property did not offer a kid-friendly menu so we opted to eat elsewhere. The carpet was wet in an area of our room but I could not tell from what. The room had refrigerated cream for the coffee, however nothing was provided to stir the coffee. There was no air conditioning so we had to sleep with all the windows open and the room was extremely hot.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was lovely and the staff member was very friendly!
Cons: It was quite hot outside and the fans oscillating all night made for a rough sleep for me...
7.5 Good
Pros: Pleasant stay and enjoyed walking and views all around. The food in the area was delicious. Would definitely come back to see this town.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Balcony with table and chairs to relaxe or drink a glass of wine before the supper.
Cons: No air conditioning.
8.5 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice rooms, great view, good food with awesome portions. Super nice people !
Cons: Nothing, it was all good.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Charged an extra 200. Still waiting for the refund. Hotel said it would be done within 3 days.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was delicious
Cons: The person working the front desk took one of our ocean view double queen rooms away and gave us a very small room directly beside the main office the only view was a parking lot. Leaving the 2nd double queen room empty, but not for long about 10 minutes after we got settled someone checked into it. I had booked those rooms long in advance and it was in no way an upgrade!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The beds your lovely. The breakfast was exceptionally good. We had 3 in our room but never were given 3 sets of towels. We had to ask for them. A minor complaint. Overall excellent . Thankyou.
Cons: The towels that I mentioned above.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room backed onto a private patio overlooking the lake offering a beautiful view. Also liked the location...
Cons: Even though located on the highway, with the air conditioning turned on you could not hear the highway noise.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a great family getaway! Water front, dock, transparent canoe, fire pits, outdoor pool, restaurant and bar! What more could you ask for!
Cons: The clips for our curtains were broken and therefore hanging and letting the sun in early morning. No big deal! But worth correcting for others.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for the Cabot Trail. Great breakfast.
Cons: More staff for dinner service is needed.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here before, perhaps 4 years ago, but new owners and what a difference. Rooms completely done over, laminate flooring, comfortable beds, re-built bathroom and all new furnishings. An amazing transition. Staff very friendly, efficient and obliging.on site restaurant provides an excellent buffet complimentary breakfast and evening meals that are wholesome and priced on par for the area. Good parking. Only downside, but not of the hotels doing is the traffic noise from being beside a major highway with plenty of large trucks passing Situated on the lake there are great views from the room and restaurant.
1.0 Poor
Pros: It was close to where I needed to be
Cons: Noisey by the highway. Very noisey in the room from guest in the hall. Room was dirty, hair in the tub and bathroom floor. Hair in the bed. Tv was fuzzy with static. Unable to lock the sliding windows as the lock was broken. Poor hotel!!!
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Issue with the internet during our stay
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast Location
Cons: A bit dated Could use some upgrades
6.0 Good
Pros: Nice location near the trail and Bedeque. Staff we friendly. Room and bed were nice and clean.
Cons: Room was slightly small....tub mat should be thrown away.
Auberge Gisele's Inn - Baddeck - Building

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting was beautiful and convenient to downtown. Waitstaff at breakfast was friendly and helpful. Rooms were large and comfortable.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, friendly staff Clean rooms Whirlpool and sauna was nice feature
Cons: Would have preferred queen bed over 2 doubles Double bed not great for 2 adults
7.5 Good
Pros: Closeness to excellent restaurants that were within walking distance.
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The rooms were clean.
Cons: The breakfast was terrible. Although we arrived at the restaurant within the time limits for the buffet breakfast the hot plates had been turned off, any food that was left was cold and some trays were empty. When we mentioned this to the staff they said they would bring in more food but what came (a limited selection) was poorly cooked. The manager needs to totally re-organize the buffet system -- train the staff in how to set it up and keep the trays well stocked to make sure everyone gets a good choice of food -- even though this may mean wasting some food at the end of time frame. We complained and were not charged for what little food we did get.
7.5 Good
Pros: Quiet. Near shops/restaurants. Clean. Beautiful grounds.
Cons: Outdoor corridors. No luggage carts. Thin towels.
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was clean/comfortable and in a good location.
Cons: The main issue with the room was that the air conditioner rattled excessively. The cover was loose which was part of the problem which we ended up taking off but it was still very noisy anyway and with no functioning windows the room became very warm. Once shut off we were still kept awake by the neighbouring rooms a/c as they obviously had the same issue!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, quiet, and comfortable. I just stayed briefly overnight and didn’t use any other facilities, but it was a good room. Easy to book, helpful staff, and close to town.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to the town - which I must say is amazing Nice place to stay very clean - older looking dated building from outside but the room ms are modern and new - I would stay again
Cons: We like it all - nothing to dislike

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We could walk into town but the property had a rural feel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We originally booked for a nights stay at the Ceildh Lodge but due to issues with the room being ready were asked to stay at the Inverary Inn across the road. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff at both properties were extremely friendly and accommodating. Wonderful location! Lots to do on the property; we enjoyed the kayaking! Breakfast was included and it was hot and very tasty; again very friendly staff! We would definitely stay here again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location and room was comfortable.
Cons: Internet was provided but worked sporadically. Some things could be improved with some updates such as washrooms and long front deck should be fixed and repainted.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Central to everything we wanted to do. The continental breakfast was good. the restaurant at the bottom of the hill near the lake had excellent food and music
Cons: nothing.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location. Able to use the opposite hotels facilities. Comfy bed and good hot shower.
Cons: The interior was old and dated and cleanliness wasn’t that good in the room. Needs updating. Plug sockets didn’t work when we tried to put plugs in they just fell out.
7.5 Good
Pros: The property was nice. The location was very convenient and we could walk into town easily. The room wasn’t much to write home about. But it was clean and the continental breakfast was good.
Cons: The room itself was a bit old and dingy, but you cannot beat the location and the property was lovely.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The view of the lakes was beautiful
5.5 Okay
Pros: Nothing!! This hotel is more like a motel, it is tired and cramped and the reviews we read were extremely inaccurate. We wonder who wrote them? Tiny room even tinier bathroom, musty smell pervade the room.
Cons: See above. we did not like being conned online. We will never use your site again.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was basic - cereal, toast, muffins and boiled eggs. Nothing special about presentation or content. The property is dated but clean.
Cons: The Wi-Fi was down the entire length of my stay. I was told upon arrival and again later it was being rebooted and to "check it in an hour". As this was business travel, the lack of what is today a basic service was quite poor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location...the staff and breakfast
Cons: internet was spotty but that was an area issue. The fan in the bathroom was loud but everything else was fine.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice pool and outdoor hot tub.
Cons: Bathroom grout could have been cleaner. Mold on tile.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: There was an initial problem with our room due to a smell from somewhere so they immediately relocated us tro another room of better quality at no extra charge. The staff there were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The reception room was in another building across the road due to a recent fire but perhaps this will be remedied in the future.

6.3 Good
Pros: Food and service was excellent
Cons: The beds were no good, particularly the two single beds were awful
6.8 Good
Pros: Breakfast was provided in the adjoining Yellow Cello restaurant. The food was great and the wait staff were very friendly. The accommodation is very close to main harbor and within walking distance to several good restaurants.
Cons: The accommodation was more cottage style and not what we were expecting. The twin beds were too soft and felt like you could roll off the mattress. Although we were not expecting air conditioning, the available fans were too small and old to be effective.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great and included. Such a nice server! A private deck was connected to the room and had a nice view of the lake. Lovely location.
Cons: Our room was serviceable, albeit a bit oddly shaped. (A former fishing lodge.) Very small bedrooms but the common space outside our room seemed like our own living room so it helped with the limited room space. It could also use some updated brochures, but if you like seeing the history of a place, the older things there were interesting.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Our room had a great balcony with view of the water. Room was comfy and nicely decorated.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, hospitable host. Generous with her time and with great information about Baddeck activities, Perfect location in midst of village. Good breakfast in restaurant attached to lodging.
Cons: Steep hillside location , narrow rough sidewalk at entrance is a bit of a concern for visitors with mobility issues. Twin bed mattresses very soft, comfortable enough for one night but not the best for senior sleepers. Double bed mattress in adjoining room is perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay. Staff was very kind and friendly, and really made us feel welcomed. The lodge feel of the lower level was stunning, and breakfast was wonderful. We will definitely stay here on our next visit.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was great, walking distance to everywhere. The room itself was fine but very small.
Cons: There was no access to any type of kitchen facilities (there was a mini fridge, glasses etc). If there were other guests staying it would have felt super cramped. The room is good for sleeping but that's about it. (As it was we had the place to ourselves which was just great.)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a spacious room and a balcony looking out to the water. Loved the charm of the place with a cosy common room downstairs. A good breakfast was included at the Yellow Cello Café where we checked in. Off street parking is adjacent to the building.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was extremely helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Inn is literally in the middle of town, so walking to cafes, etc was easy. The room itself was spacious and had a view overlooking the harbour. The shared lounge room downstairs was very comfortable. Breakfast at the adjacent Yellow Cello Café (included in the room rate) was very good ... we also had dinner in the café and it was very good and reasonably priced.
Cons: There wasn't anything that we didn't like
