Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Fast flight with no delays"
Cons: "Very old entertainment unit, slow touch screen, confusing interface. Very tight seats that were not very padded. Overall uncomfortable"
Pros: "As a professional musician, flying with my viola is one of the most nerve wracking experiences, as if it is forced to be checked due to insufficient room for overhead baggage, it could be completely destroyed. As stated in Air Canada's online policy, passengers traveling with musical instruments that fit as carry on baggage are allowed to change to earlier boarding zones. After approaching a staff member with my viola, I wasn't simply assigned an earlier zone, but rather I was allowed to board first. On this principle alone I will be flying Air Canada again. Thank you!!!"
Pros: "Loved the staff. Very friendly. Planes were clean and most of all, got to me my destination. On time!"
Cons: "The flight was delayed. Boarding was chaotic. Flight itself was choppy."
Pros: "Good price"
Cons: "Horrible customer care"
Cons: "They cancelled the flight after we were on the runway."
Pros: "The fact that I called in the a.m. and they rebooked immediately, no charge."
Pros: "On time and quick and simple"
Pros: "Everthing was smooth and on time"

Cons: "Cancelled flights and delays."
Pros: "Air Canada is the worst, another late flight, mechanical problem and missed my connection to Calgary. I made it, but my bag didn't so they wouldn't let me on the plane."
Cons: "Please see my other comments in the first box. Over the last 5 flights to Calgary, I have been late 3 times by more than an hour, missed my connection and they have lost my bags twice. Both times I was on the plan and my bag wasn't? How can they can send me on my flight without my bags, yet, they screwed up and I get there on time without my bags and they will not let me on the plane."
Cons: "AC Ticket attendants were unbelievably rude."
Pros: "Left on time, arrived on time."
Cons: "The airline failed to mention transit visa rules. Really poor customer service. Irrespective of what time of the day you call, the average wait time is 30 min. Who can wait for 30 min to receive his/her call. That's stupid for a premium air line. Even when someone answered they failed to provide a solution and were unsympathetic to my cause"
Pros: "Crew was friendly helpful."
Cons: "Problem w with bathroom not working preflight."
Pros: "Overall good. A bad delay and boarding process. I can't fill out the above rating cause my computer dos'nt let me."
Pros: "Boarding was on time and orderly."
Cons: "We requested for seat in the front and nothing was available. We were placed at the back of the plane one to the last row. There was many open seat in the front?????? Either inefficient or malicious. Our over head compartment was full with flight equipment and supply."
Pros: "Pilot kept in good communication with passengers"
Cons: "Crew was a bit stern and not as friendly as could be"
Pros: "Food is good"
Cons: "Late again, in the last 4 flights over the last 5-6 weeks I was on time once. Two of the last 3 flights you lost my luggage and both times I was told I would have it late in the day or early evening. 3 weeks ago I received it 36 hours later and yesterday I got it the next morning. 3 weeks ago the overhead lights did not work in almost the entire plan. Yesterday, my movie kept cutting out and the guy next to me and a few others too. I got so frustrated that I shut it off."
Cons: "We were on the Tarmac for almost two hours before take off. We were served only cold drinks and pretzels, no tea or coffee, during the entire time. There was very little leg room, the seats were cramped and inadequate luggage space."
Pros: "The staff was generally helpful and pleasant."
Cons: "The airport kiosks were down save one. This created unnecessarily longer wait times for everyone,me specially those that were only looking to get a printed Boarding Pass."
Cons: "Although the flight to Canada was fine, the ordeal to try to get back was awful! So apparently Air Canada makes up whatever rules that they see fit but doesn't make you aware of them until too late. In Canada, the "International" terminal is not for every country, but for every country EXCEPT the US...I didn't realize that the "Air Canada English" is its own language. Also, they will resell your seat arbitrarily, without any previous warning and have no problem stranding you in a different country, forcing to pay exorbitant change fees. If you try to straighten the situation AFTER the entire fiasco, the only recourse is a random email. I would not only NOT recommend this airline, but I would stay far, far away from using Air Canada!"
Cons: "2 and a half hour delay"
Pros: "Our flight was delayed about an hour and a half because of earlier delays in the day and the ground crew and pilot kept us fully informed of the situations as they evolved. Because of the timely updates I did not hear one person complain in my earshot range. Apart from the delay the service was great, as always."
Pros: "Shorter flight than expected. Snacks. The baby beside me didn't cry for once"
Cons: "My tv had no sound."
Pros: "Smooth Flight, zero turbulence."
Cons: "The categories food and entertainment do not apply for this trip since it was a very shirt trip from NYC to Montreal Food and Entertainment is not available."
Cons: "To start, this flight was overbooked which I understand is a perfectly normal aspect of flying. However, the seats on this airline were so close to one another my legs were hitting the seat in front of me. I'm a thin 6' tall man, and I was uncomfortable the entire time. I've flown Air Canada many times but I've never experienced such a cramped seating experience with them. It was as if they added an extra five rows to the plane."
Cons: "Long time till take off."
Pros: "on time -thank you"
Cons: "my headset didn't work - it should have - the individual entertainment system on the flight was not working"
Pros: "Things were very good. Staff was freindly."
Cons: "The internet wasn't working but not a problem for a 1 hour flight."
Pros: "i canceled by flight nyc to toronto to rio do to the custom laws in canada that they have the right to inspect all cell phones and lap tops, and can demand your pass code."
Cons: "canceled flight went with LATAM air"
Cons: "They made me wait so long on the phone just to buy tickets and when I bought one, the staff member didn't include the returning flight, so I had to call back again and wait even longer for somebody to assist me. It was a nightmare. Also, I they don't refund or transfer tickets so be aware of that. Flight's were on time though."
Cons: "I am a visitor to Canada n travelling by myself, I do not carry cell phone and had no way to communicate these last minute changes to people coming to pick me up. Flight was overbooked n they bumped me off to a later flight. Then the airline lost my luggage and I was sent pillar to post to report it."
Pros: "Everyone was very nice"
Cons: "When I went to Check in there was alot of problems with the process on line By the time I was able to enter my information the session had timed out. It was so frustrating because I had to wait 51 minutes for an Air Canada representative to confirm I had checked in eventhough I didn't have my boarding pass on my I5 phone. I really like your planes and service providers, but your website is awful."
Pros: "On time with nice crew"
Cons: "Boarding a bit of a mess"
Cons: "The Toronto airport was ill-equipped for an international transfer. I barely made it despite a 90 minute layover. Air Canada was OK, not great."
Pros: "Free snack"
Pros: "This was my first experience with air canada....and prior to the flight I had notions of yet another discount airlines because they charged you to book a seat. We did not pay the extra but were assigned seats during online checkin and were fine. The attendants were friendly and helpful. The seats were comfortable and the free inflight entertainment enjoyable."
Cons: "Terminal at LGA is crowded."
Pros: "The fact that I was rebooked immediately to my new flight AC-DC 705 at 8:50 am by two wonderful ladies at La guardia airport who comforted then boarded me unto a flight due to the fact that I missed my original flight. This occured due to the Airport being Unorganized! As I had checked in well before 3 hours and was on time for my original flight at 8:30 am."
Cons: "The airport was extremely packed, Unorganized and not well staffed. What I hated is that when I arrived at my original gate A7 the gentleman who boarded my original flight was unprofessional, rude, basically ignored me and said "You missed your flight !" Not even taking the time to listen to my situation or guide me in my next steps of acquiring a new flight to go to my classes and home in Toronto!"
Pros: "Decent leg room"
Cons: "Everyone confused about the aisle seats. Took much longer to find proper row."
Pros: "The flight attendants was very curtesous."
Cons: "This site allowed me to book a CANCELED flight. I found out 20 hours before my scheduled flight that I was on an 11:20pm flight not a 7pm flight."
Cons: "I was upset that my flight was cancelled one day before the flight day. I contacted Air Canada but they should have tried to contact me as soon as the cancellation."
Pros: "TVs in each head rest with movies."
Cons: "No communication or care. Sat on plane in Toronto for 4hrs - no offer of beverage or snack. To announce flight cancelled. 90% of flights going same location was cancelled from gate. No reason to assume our flight would have special us president clearance to fly. And doesn't take 4hrs to figure that out. Then was not giving any assistance or comms on new flight. When called told best chance is 2 days for flight and was not providing any hotel voucher. We ended up driving from Toronto to NYC. We were irate!!!!!"
Cons: "I had 21Inch suitcase. but who helped me check in staff , he said my suitcase looks littlebit big charge me seccond luggage fee $35.... my suitcase 21Inch..it is cabin size...even I didnt use extendingzipper, when I see other people suitcase same size with my suit case or more ticker what I got more mad is my new suitcase got scratched, cracked. I paid $35 . I got broken suitcase ..no reson to do that .it is firsttime I used that... also flight is delayed 2 hours both time .this is understand. .. but I stil got mad, don't understand that silly staff. I regret I couldn't complained and choose aircanada. Also he never smile to customers not kind at all seems doesn't wanna work. From that , Whenever take flight to short distance I will use westjet or other one."
Pros: "Great flight, service was excellent, will choose Air Canada for my next trip to the Orient!"
