Extremely nice and friendly hotel, good balance of style full and relax atmosphere. NO
Very nice place extremely attentive staff if a bit stiff ambiance heady clientele. Best for local and national government administration elite.
the setting of the hotel within the mountains and the breathtaking views from every corner .breakfast was great and generally the mix of peacefullness and hiking the mountains is excellent dinner takes too long and the food was not great.they got our booking wrong (put us in the old building rather than the new and didnt go out of their way to make ammends)
Best hotel where I have ever been :) Smiling hotel like my daughter told.
The attention to detail and the welcoming nature of the staff was very evident. As a top class hotel it is to be expected but the nature was not overly formal and you felt very comfortable. They could not do enough to help. The food was of a very high standard, the Michelin 3 start French Restaurant apparently had a 6 month waiting list, unless cancellations. However, the main restaurant was excellent. The breakfast choice was exemplary! Just a nice place to be and as relaxing or as busy as you would want it to be. They have a 'morning paper' of the day's events and there is always plenty arranged. When we were there, tempertures rose to 35 degrees and the hotel corridors and rooms could feel a little warm as there was no air conditioning, but that was only our opinion. Menu was available in english, but the morning newspaper was in german, but there were staff to speak to re. events/excusions etc.
excellent breakfast This was my second time at Palmenwald. The first time, although I requested a twin room with single beds, I got a double bed and a room with a picture window into the bathroom - nice for a couple, but not for two middle-aged travelling companions! The second time I requested a double room for a couple, but got a room with two single beds. When we asked for a change of room, we were told that there were no double beds - that was the "Bulgarian" style and we should push the beds together, even though the bedheads and bedside tables would then be out of position. Clearly this was not true anyhow, because I had previously had the opposite problem!
It was a nice experience to stay in a new refurnished hotel with a lot of cozy facilities. I hope to come back soon to this hotel.
Breakfast was great, rooms very comfortable, restaurant food also great. Good range of facilities and friendly staff.
Very nice restaurant, good breakfast
Nice classic hotel with friendly staff. Nice restaurant and convenient Spa and swimmingpool Nothing to report
Such a personal stay, and very relaxing. Loved that each member of the family and staff greeted us at our table for breakfast and dinner. Rooms, location, food and service were up to a 4 star standard. Would highly recommend staying here.
The staff were generally very helpful and kind and we felt very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them It was situated on a busy road and our bedroom overlooked this. There were no hotel grounds as such. The organisation of the restaurant was sometimes chaotic and staff were not always able to tell us which table was ours. The restaurant closed on Tuesday which was surprise but we were given an excellent meal in place. However this was very expensive.
Everything - the room, meals, decor, cleanliness, and staff were marvellous. A real find and great value for our money. The special touches - ie. reserved table with name on table ceramic for breakfast buffet. Again the food was phenomenal.
Very good hotel good service/very good food
Very good resturant both for breakfast & dinner, staffs were very helpful.
I liked being able to come and go; using front door code. I loved the breakfast. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would have expected a bar or at least a coffee machine. 10pm is a bit early for shut down! Maybe tea/coffee/mini bar in room?
the kindness of the staff (family hotel) - the swimmingpool
A very pleasant hotel. Lovely view over black forest hills from balcony. Restaurant served tasty food and good value for money too - although portions are huge!
Lovely....friendly, helpful staff. Super clean and comfortable. Nice food.
There are limited parking lots available on a first come first serve basis. It was lucky for me to get one lot. It is even more lucky to get a room at same level as the carpark. The dinner at the hotel was good, and the breakfast too. The hotel is located up the hill and is not near the central of the town. The hotel does not offer drinking water for free, but priced a litre of water for 2 euro. Only the owner speaks some english. The room offered does not have view and is not in front like the one you see in the picture.
We love this little hotel - it is the second time we have stayed there and will do it again if we happen to be in that area. It is very friendly, clean - and the food is delicious! A great place in the mountains of Germany!
The owner was especially helpful and explained exactly how we could get to a very nice walk fairly near to the Hotel and lent us a map to do the walk.
Wonderful restaurant attached to the hotel. First-rate Black Forest breakfasts with "Laugenbrotchen" and "Laugenbrezen" - warm pretzel buns and warm pretzels, with an excellent selection of cold cuts, cheeses, muesli cereal, and juices. The hotel restaurant offers dinner too, and has a very nice Black Forest and Swabian menu, i.e. maultaschen, spaetzle, etc. Nothing. Not a thing.
The food is very good Car Parking is very poor as there are not enough parking spaces.
Lovely, clean and comfortable hotel. Ideal location centrally in the Black Forest, great for walking and the village is very nice. Excellent food at the hotel. It has limited parking spaces.
Friendly staff,very good food.
Extremely helpful, food fantastic, very clean large rooms. Well positioned hotel to explore The Black Forest. Nothing !!!!!
Excellent location, good breakfasts, motorcycle friendly, staff tried very hard Swimming pool was very cold, making it unuseble. Chef/patron was a bit misrable.
nothing rooms were tired and in need of updating.area was very drab and quiet.food was terrible
A very pleasant traditional Black Forest hotel. With a lot of snow around, the views from our room were super. My wife unfortunately forgot her new necklace, but when I phoned hotel that evening from far away they had rescued the necklace from our room and offered to post it home to uk. Fantastic honesty and service. The access road and ramp down to garage was tricky due to some snow. I would never have found the hotel without my gps. Brilliant tool.
Great receptionist and manager-extreemly helpful, polite and made my stay that extra special/personal. Room was a very decent size with balcony and very comfotable beds. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent. No laundry service
Breakfast was bountiful and tasty. The surrounding countryside was picturesque. The bathroom was spacious and the shower worked well The parking was not adequate
Very well maintained
the staff was polite & helpfull, the restaurant - very good. we liked the breakfast meal and also the dinners.the swimming pool is nice unsatisfied toilette filling. we stayed 3 days at the hotel &* got only 1 small soap. no adding used materials - the basket remained empty after using the stuff.
Location Menu's + room information would be better if there were English translation available
The Swimmingpool, the nice restaurant, the environment, nice reception There was no soap in the bathroom.
Very friendly staff Room could use redecorating
Good location, free public transport in the region, sauna facilities, excellent kitchen, very kind and professional staff.
Very clean and friendly, excellent for children the location was not so central
Our apartment was a little bit isolated, what was just great!
Very good range of facilities available. Choice of breakfast or breakfast/dinner as part of stay. Family friendly - baby cot (real cot, not a travel cot), diaper pail all available.
Spacious facilities and excellent spa facilities. Very clean and relaxing infinity indoor pool with relaxing music. Sunny drinks terrace and ample breakfast. 15mins easy walk from the town centre but meant we could park the car outside the hotel. We visited at low season so the restaurant lacked a little atmosphere
High Quality, Spacious Family Apartments, Nice Swimmingpool, free internet PC, free PS2, free midgetgolf & games Kitchen & Restaurant was reasonable
Swimmingpool was great and the sauna! And the restaurant had good kids menu.
Friendly personnel Internet did not work in rooms and on central computer in lobby. Not very near to city centre.
the spa area no
very warm ambiance, nice and clean rooms, great host, would absolutely reccomend this hotel for a quite holiday kitchen could improve-they should offer a menu in english
Quiteness and location of the hotel Breakfast can be improved
It was excellent. Considering I dont speak German, the hostess was very helpful firendly and spoke some english. I couldnt fault the hotel at all. Also the location was excellent. None
Facilities and food Slightly out of the way for an overnight stop
The staff was very kind, the room was always clean and comfortable. The whole area of the Black Forest was beautiful. The view from the balcony was very nice, and of course the XXL Schnitzel hmmm...
Very friendly personnel, situation quit and near the forest and walking paths. But it is 42 km from Baden-Baden (not 20 as it's mentioned on the site), and we went by car in very dense fog by mountain road... Not very comfortable ;)
Central location in Black Forest. Regional menu. Decent breakfast & friendly staff. Very quiet, felt obliged to retire once the dinner service was complete as there is not a separate bar.
Relaxed, charming atmosphere in a beautiful setting Pillows were too soft - even with two
Lovely hotel in beautiful town with lovely views of countryside and mountains from the rooms balcony. Good breakfast, friendly and helpful owner. Had use of private garage for my motor cycle. Should have stayed more than one night.
Beautiful room lovely surroundings good food None
Very clean, nice quiet surroundings, friendly people Very small rooms and balcony
We liked the landscape, the green yards and beeing close to other sites in the black forest.
Staff were great. Although they spoke limited English and we spoke no German we manged to communicate. The food was great and surrounding area is stunning. Altogether a very friendly hotel. NO!!!
Very friendly and welcoming owners/staff. Large, comfortable room. Excellent buffet breakfast None
Everything on its place, where you except, very clean, probably new or not too much use mattresse, so you can relax.Fresh food - brekfast Missing wifi connection
The family who run this hotel were very friendly, nice and helpful. Breakfast was good. The quiet hours are from 10:30 pm onwards which was nice since we were out all day and didn't come in till late in the evening.
My husband and I were in the Black Forest area for business and stayed at Hotel Landhaus Waldesruh for two nights. The hotel is family run and small which makes it even better. The room was quite spacious and very clean. The breakfast was also excellent with quite a lot of choices for a small family run hotel. Not to mention that the staff (family) and the other guests were very friendly and helpful.
Locaion, near some nice walks, and not too far from the main town, which is worth visiting.
Great staff, great beer on the sun terrace. 5 minutes from Schwarzwaldstube restaurant. Nice walking in the forest.
The food is good. The self made cakes ecellent. Nice and sunny terrace.
Wonderful staff...delicious food (we're the ones who ordered extra potato salad, just like my Grandmother Schmitt's)...beautiful scenery...excellent accommodations.
Very friendly staff and nice location for a forest walk
The view, the restaurant terrase The room was basic, not cosy at all
Our stay was one of the highlights of our overseas trip. The staff and the owner - Frau Eickler - were so friendly and welcoming we felt like old friends. The location in the Tombach valley is fantastic with great views and fantastic walk trails starting right at the door of the hotel. The food was fantastic and the location of the hotel was also perfect for our visit to Schwartzwald Stube, just down the road. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a warm, friendly hotel and some peace and quiet.
