the staff, the value, the location, and the breakfast
An extremely efficiently run hotel, clean, comfortable and friendly. We were so impressed with it we stayed another night
friendly staff, delicious breakfast
Very plasent stay at Hotel Bagoeira. The Hotel is very central in Barcelos, and the stuff is very frindly and accommodating, and staying at the hotel is an excellent value for your money. The room is spacious enough, and room, bathroom, and beds are comfortable and clean, and comes with full buffet breakfast. I would definitely use the Hotel again if Going back to Barcelos. There was nothing I didn't like
Excellent restaurant, best of the holiday. Very comfortable. Not a lot of character to the hotel.
quite hotel. friendly staff. well situated for our neads.
Excellent hotel with extremely good restaurant. Great value and comfort
Excelent service, specially in the Reception.
good breakfast, good facilities, good value, good location air-conditioned/hot atmosphere
Reception, breakfast and room Restaurant. Food looked and tasted pre-prepared and microwaved and overpriced
Cleanliness, confort, breakfast and staff. Also the restaurant is highly recommended. Only that my room was just above the bar, and we could hear some noise from the chairs above, but not for long.
Breakfast and air conitioning No bar or coffee room
Breakfast is very good, has everything you can imagine! WC cleaning
very diffucult to find in the commercial center; it's direktly at the St.James-Way.
We stayed only a short time - got there late and left early it was very difficult to find - a wonderful lady helped us get there. The breakfast was very good, the room was very clean, the staff were good
Good surroundings, excellent and very helpfull staff. Well positioned in the centre of Barcelos, meaning that the car was very often left parked up. A pleasure to have been there. No complaints
Gorgeous hotel! No complaints at all! Stayed one night and decided to stay on an extra night as it was so nice. Rooms very clean, have tv, great shower, all have baths. Breakfast brilliant, everything you could possibly want. Rooms at front are double rooms - these are a bit smaller. First night we had the twin room - acted as double and was huge. Also had a balcony which was great! Really nice rooms and hotel and free internet which was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel! very central too. Nothing! ...stop reading and get booking!!
Nothing the noise, the construction work in the hotel, the room was poor and no towels were available in the bathroom
the hotel was excellent. the rooms were very comfortable and spacious. hotel staff were good, its rare to fidn people in north portugal who speak english but they understood what you needed. breakfast was very good, large selection to choose from. the location was great as its right in the centre of town but still manages to be quiet. the town is fantastic, a bit more rural than some others but still has some good shops and things to see and do.
To many children running up and down the halls late at nite
The location in the city centre. The kindness of the hotel staff. The private parking could be problematic if you have a big car. When we went there there was plenty of free parking outside the hotel, though, so it wasn't a big issue for us.
The hotel has signs of being recently re-furbished. I stayed there when previously owned by the Accor group. It is still a very "70''s" hotel - down to the organ player in the bar. But no complaints and ideal for arriving late at Oporto airport if you are travelling north
Room was really comfortable and very clean. My room was on the sea front and had a great view of the ocean as well as the surrounding area like the bull ring.
the location and the pool The staff at the front desk extremely rud
Location is excelent. Garden and pool great. Bathroom small, bath very small. Bathroom extract fan out of order.Bed mattress very hard.
The closeness to the beach, the size of the room reception staff always helpful. Breakfasts where dis organized and on all the days the full compliment of choice was not available.
The rooms are amazing I thought the lights in the spa were too bright.
Everything was great. It's a very modern new hotel and the staff are exceptionally attentive. Slow elevators, in the morning you have to wait a few minutes.
English-speaking, friendly staff. Lovely interior design and furnishings. Super Spa. Easy parking. Chocolates and grapes in the room when we arrived were a lovely surprise! Nowhere in the bedroom for me to use my own hairdryer or straightener in the room and be close to a mirror ! The bedroom was too dark to work with my lap-top and documents. Breakfast did not include any fish options (smoked salmon etc).
Amenities Weak internet in the room
The room is very comfortable and the bathroom is well designed. The breakfast was great. Very friendly staff.
It is all about the staff. Sandra made the difference, she was great with the kids, we had over 15 kids under the age of 11 (soccer trip). She found an a local news article about our kids and sent the article to all the parents via email. For international visitors the staff can upgrade their English speaking skills
well located, clean, quite a large room so comfortable
The limited staff were very helpfull I would rate the hotel 2-3 star and not 4 star. Disapointed because I was expecting more.
The prices for the parking and rooms was good, location is exellent The rooms should be renovated, air conditioning is poor, breakfast was too simle
Hotel, although in an ugly modern building, is very specious, rooms big, bright and comfortable. The situation is excellent, convenient for shopping, museums and restaurants. Hotel staff are efficient and pleasant. During our trip we stayed in all sorts of hotels, expensive and not and found this one particularly good for a relaxing evening/night after busy hours spent sightseeing with kids.
Just right. Excellent location. Very nice staff. Great, really great breakfast. I will definitely be back. Nothing. It was really fine.
The pool area was very nice it is a big hotel and therefore not so personal service
This hotel fairly well located, excellent staff we felt we were in 5 Star hotel.
the location to downtown Braga, the staff. swiming pool should stay open longer.
location, confort nothing
The noise of the sea It´s too hard parking during week-end
Excellent facilites and ideal location next to beach
Cleansiness was very good, staff was friendly, food OK. Fitness equipment too old and not fully functional - very often "misused" by kids. Strange smell on the third floor - musty odor. Size of the pool.
the hotel was very well placed, the pool very good and clean, the staff were very attentive and excellent (especially the waiters in the restaurant), the restaurant food was really good at dinner the airconditioning settings could not be changed and it was very warm and muggy inside the room at night, we had to open the patio doors.
All facillities were clean . Food at breakfast was good [I did not use the hotel resturant in the evening.] Plenty of entertainment on site The hotel corridors and rooms could do with some tlc. The carpets are threadbare and the air conditioning does not cool the rooms down . The smell of cooking as we approached our room was not nice.
situation close to the sea. no.
Very relaxing with lots of facilities. Any problems quickly resolved. The area is lovely and the beach fantastic. Will definitely visit again. Rooms not quite 4 star standard although very large, clean and comfortable. Day excursions arranged at the hotel would be useful, otherwise have to use a car or local buses which have limited destinations and unpredictable schedules
Ocean views. Very helpful, charming staff. Restaurant did it's best to acoomodate a vegetarian diet.
i've stayed at the hotel for the last four years and always enjoyed it. A good hotel for families, close to the beach with many restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk (in Fao, the next village). Very relaxing with pleasant gardens. Good facilities - bowling alley, tennis courts (2), putting green, pool. Helpful reception staff. At times, a shortage staff in the bar - particularly in the afternoon - meaning that service was a bit slow. The staff did their best but at times had too much to do. The hotel has a ten-pin bowling alley, however it is clear that no investment has been made in it in recent years - lack of (particualy ones for children) balls and many of those were damaged. At weekends in the summer, the resort is extremely busy and so parking is difficult, meaning that it may not be possible to enter the hotel car park. Breakfasts are ok, but not comparable with those in the hotel's 4 or 5 star Spanish equivalents.
Excellent location. Good rooom quality and decoration. Buffet breaksfast good (except coffee). Staff pleasant helpful and had good English. Room walls too thin leading to a lot of noise from other rooms hence poor rating for comfort. For me this is a serious issue that ruins an otherwise good hotel. Breakfast coffee poor.
Great location for seeing Braga. Would have liked tea / coffee facilities in the room.
friendly staff - delicious food ´superb breakfast - enjoyed pianist at dinner. liked garden space. no. beautiful building. family atmosphere.
The restaurant was superb; both in terms of food and ambience Unfortunately - and obviously not their fault and mainly because this was a walled city - the parking was difficult and expensive.
The value for our money was top-notch for this hotel. The staff were terrific, and the breakfast in the dining room was wonderful. The location of the hotel facing onto a centreal square and park, was exceptional.
Excellent freindly service and value for money

A professionally run hotel in a historical building; tastefully converted. A friendly welcomed from all staff. The rooms are light comfortable, and warm - with a welcoming pack of fruit and mineral water on arrival. Well stocked mini bar. The location is very central and the restaurant is very good. Breakfast is fantastic, caters for all tastes and even offers soya milk! Intensive positive experience for a short stay. This is a minor point: The furniture fittings are due for a refurb soon; but the bathroom fittings and fixtures were very effective and stylish. The restaurant could offer more vegetarian options.
Friendly staff, excellent location.
The hotel was very nice. It was clean and the hotel was located in the centre of Braga. They had a small but nice bar area and the restaurant was very nice with a small outdoor sitting area in the back. No parking. We had to park across the park and drag our luggage up three flights of stairs, across the park and into the hotel. This was a major pain in the butt. Also, there was no discounted rate at the parking garage. It cost us 21 euro to park there for little over a day.
The modern architecture in a very quiet environment A very basic breakfastbuffet. Although price-quality was good it could have eventually a bit more variety.
free internet good breakfast and meals all staff speak good english affordable restaurant with good wines , goed onbijt en diners betaalbaar restaurant met good-food en prima wijn wearing of rubber cap in swimmingpool is absurd there are plenty filters and pumps to clean the water, some people have more pubic hair than whats under the cap , some more outside space woulkd be nice there is no real garden near the pool outside pool would be nice also, the vieuw could be better if they kept the plants a little smaller , further no comments nice hotel
The beautiful setting, the excellence of the facilities, the friendliness of the staff and the proximity to the town and beach.
Well located if hiring vehicle to visit unspoilt surrounding area. Walking distance to beach and town.
Very good location, extremely nice staff. I didn't have a laptop with me, so when I asked about checking my email, they even let me in one of their ofices tu use their director's computer.
The hotel is in close proximity to the town centre and the metro station if wanting to get to Porto, although there is a short steep climb to get to it, staff were on the whole polite, friendly. The waitresses in the hotel were wonderfully attentive. Breakfast was continental style and well stocked and always plenty of space. The room was clean and respectfully comfortable. The hotel does need some modernisation, especially in the health suite area and decoration in the room Food in the restaurant was usually good, but expect very large portions and a lot of butter. It isn't always easy to get served in the bar area as staff are also serving in the restaurant at the same time so you have to be patient.
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, excellent room with great views
nice and cosy environment, good taste in decoration, helpful staff
Pictures don't show how the hotel really is. Room was not cleaned properly.
the location of the hotel for the view over braga loading and unloading area for the customers (incline )
Poor room service. Very very tired old furnishings.
Beautiful location and wonderfully quiet. Staff nice and welcoming. Very romantic Bed creaked !
Execellent location. The grounds are well kept and there is lots to see around the hotel. The history is preserved in the whole complex. We had a very pleasent stay. Like most of the hotels in portugal and spain- no Iron or Air conditioning.
Very nice and interesting place
Wonderful position! Magnificent views. Like being in a fairytale setting. Comfortable room-good breakfast. An absolute "must see" place.
The hotel staff really does an effort to please the guests.
We did not like it, because the airco did not work. So we left after one night
The staff were very helpful The area surrounding the hotel was restful and scenic
Old world, good views. Associated with other hotels which are only 200 metres away and which have better/modern facilities (food, spa, bar etc)
The view and calm surroundings (off season!), outside of major cities. Staff was helpful without being pushy. Only minor things: lack of waste baskets in handy places, shower curtain that was too long
Calm countryside hotel with short distance to different histiric sites
Fantastic location, good rooms, not a jumbo-hotel, but personal service and kind people. All is very good, just 1 observation to the hotel: please do something about the 'parasol' at the pool. These cheap umbrellas from a coffee brand tend to tumble and land into your face due to the winds. So if there is wind (which tends to be the rule, due to the hilltop on which the hotel is located) you have to sit in the sun, or find schelter at the bar...
I found the staff to be friendly and courteous. The views from the hotel. You would really need to have your own transport as it is a 10 minute drive to the town/beach.
Special thanks to lady who checked we in. Very excellent service
the old fashioned good manners and service which is hard to find nowadays in hotels. Fabulous view of sea and countryside no complaints. Heated pool would be nice
Great view, Nice room, Staff friendly, Pools great especially for the kids, Good buffet brkfst in morning. Would definitely reccommend with kids.
Location above a hill overlooking a fertile plain and the sea beyond. Spectacular views. Reception and dining room staff. Cleanliness. Rooms are a bit old and in need of renovation.
Good location, more comfortable than your average three star resort hotel, polite attentive staff In the very nice smart restaurant you will get highly attentive service, but dinner may be a gamble. My fillet steak was as tough as old boots and the salad was absurdly overdressed. Consider going out for supper. The breakfast, however, was fine.
All of it. The view from our room was superb. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The hotel facilities were attractive. Possibly the hot food at breakfast time could have been cooked less far in advance. The rest of the food was nice, with a good choice.
Great Swimming Pool and nice Seafront Location The Food was copious but boring
Very friendly, helpful staff. Clean hotel, well positioned for exploring northern Portugal. Pool area was attractive and there was a good play area for children. The town was traditional and local people were friendly. Location on esplanade was good for sea views. It suited our needs perfectly as a clean, quiet and safe location where we could base ourselves. Parking was easy.
We really enjoyed our view of the ocean and walking on the beach, which is a short stroll from the hotel. Our room was large and comfortable, as were the public spaces.
food in restaurant, staff helpfulness, location for places of interset e.g. braga national parks. They even improved the weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good food, good location.
The sea view rooms are worth the extra money, however all rooms face either the beach or the pool. The restaraunt was expensive compared to other local restaraunts and the food was not up to the expected standard. There was also no option for vegetarians.
The location was great although finding the hotel proved challenging. The triple room was very spacious and clean. The staff, especially at the front desk were very friendly. We booked this spa hotel in anticipation of enjoying a massage after finishing the Camino de Santiago. We made appointments for the evening we arrived but then discovered that there was no one available to provide a massage that evening. The spa desk then suggested we use the Jacuzzi instead. Unfortunately after purchasing swim caps we discovered the Jacuzzi wasn't working. A big disappointment to say the least. Fortunately the hotel refunded the cost of the swim caps. Really would have liked a massage though.
The location is excellent, and the tennis and soccer fields made me wish I was there longer Unfortunately it was a bit noisy at night due to cars racing in the hotel's vicinity. Nothing they can do about that, though, I assume.
The hotel staff was very friendly, good breakfast. The hotel was an antique convent, which makes an interesting environment. We did not use all of the facilities, which are plenty, only the pool and jacuzzi. Rooms could be updated, the furniture and bathroom are not modern, our closet was huge and next to the desk, blocking one of the doors. The TV is on the desk which leaves very little space for the use of a laptop, for example. The tv could be tuned better, the image was out of focus in some channels, although it had SporTV. Be aware of the garage doors in the indoor parking, they can be very tricky. The pool wasn't warm enough (for me, but that can be just me); the jacuzzi's water were somewhat not very clear (a little greenish), not very inviting, although it worked fine.
The breakfast was delightful. The hotel was fairly quiet. Our room was located in a corner and we could see right into the window next to ours so we had to keep our curtains drawn - I would have liked to enjoy the view. The elevators were intimidating with the "jumps" they made. GPS coordinates would have helped to find the hotel.
The location is excellent.
Ambience and character of a converted convent Service in bar sporadic; breakfast solid but uninspired
Very nicely situated over the city of Braga.
Everything was just perfect
Wonderful views, excellent staff, great location. All in all an excellent hotel. Everyone in our party was impressed
Particularly the pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were excellent, the food in the dining room very good, and the outdoor pool was great. The hotel was generally very clean. Slightly disappointed by the indoor pool – too warm and the water seemed rather cloudy.
Teras view no free internet
good service at reception, nice room, quiet
Good four star hotel, with beautiful views, especially from restaurants, and service at a very high level
The friendly and helpful staff. The bar and restaurant with the best food we have had for a long time and the terrace to sit or take drinks and meals. The views were outstanding. The peaceful and calm feel of the hotel, and its excellent situation. The private and secure parking in the garage.
Room's facilities, the fact that I can hear the clock from a church near by every 15 mins (kind of romantic), the view over the mountains, the restaurant and terace, the lilis on the loby. It has no wireless internet connection free of charge in the rooms. In my opinion, the free of charge internet connection in the room (wired / wireless) should become a must for all the hotels (like the soap and the towels are).
location, view from window, cakes at breakfast lift
especially if you are fond of having caviar (though not real one) + champagne for breakfast. Disappointing only that 2 out of 4 machines in the fitness room did not work.
friendly staff ,easy to find bit expensive bar and restaurant at hotel
Close proximity to the airport. Rapid check-in and private parking. Comfortable rooms, bar and nice restaurant. Good breakfast.
friendly staff , quiet location , excellant value
Our accommodation was secluded and relaxing and very enjoyable and obviously had a lot to offer in peak season. Our accommodation was possibly not what we expected for a 4 star hotel in terms of modern conveniences but overall was very enjoyable.
Very beautiful and peaceful place. Lots of nature, quiet. It could be a bit better rennovated.
Good location and excellent value for money
Location, staff Nothing - hotel could do with some decoration though!
