The town of Basalt is only about 12 miles from Aspen, without the Aspen prices. The old town surrounds it, making life very convenient, with some quality restaurants, and the river runs adjacent.
The garbage trucks came a bit early, but then again, shouldn't one be up for skiing or fishing?

The room although basic, included a refrigerator and microwave, would be great for an economical visit to Aspen.
It was a good value in providing close access to Aspen without the expense of staying there. The river sound was a nice bonus!

Our room faced the Roaring Fork River. It was beautiful and very relaxing.
We asked for a govenment rate and told that we would receive it, but at check out it was not put on the check out bill.
The Lodge that we stayed at, at any nornal city it would have cost $89.00 per night. It was like a Motel 6 and not an Embassy Suites. The walls where paper thin. When we sat on the balcony our view was of a bar. We had to walk about a block to get to the hot tubor, it was outside and no changing room. The continental breakfast was a joke; 1 hour to close and we had ask for refills, both morni
