Location was great, stunning Chateaux
The management of the Chateaux needs to be improved. The facilities need upgrading. For instance two bathrooms in the "apartment" but upstairs apartment had no toilet which means guests upstairs have to go downstairs to use the toilet. The shower upstairs is in the bathtub which generally is not a problem but the shower head had no wall mounting resulting in "hand shower" situation.
This chateau was magical. A ten minute walk from the train station, one enters an idyllic, magical setting. It looks EXACTLY like the photos. It's an oasis. Plus it's only another 20 minutes to walk into the city.
It would be great if the staff spoke better English but you can't have everything and, after all, we're visiting their country. They certainly went out of their way to be accommodating.
Beautiful hotel building, pretty moated garden.
Staff let the place down. Breakfast was 7-10. We turned up at 7:15 to be told very impolitely to go away for at least another 15 minutes as the breakfast lady had failed to show so things were late. This made us very late and there was no hint of apology. On turning up for breakfast again at 7:30 the hot food was not ready, just cereal or bread with tired looking fruit apparently from the day before. And there was no service whatsoever, not even a good morning. We left hungry. The rooms were small, it was easy to be disturbed by goings on in other rooms, the carpets were tired and marked (apparently by cigarettes) and the kitchen fans vented right outside my bedroom window. The hotel sits in-between a busy road and a railway line. Probably okay in winter when windows are shut but unpleasant in summer.
The potential for it to be an outstanding hotel. The dessert menu was good and breakfast was ok.
The outside space needs maintaining. There was a court yard area at the back of our room, such a shame it was covered in weeds and overgrown. There is swan poo all over the front lawn which isn’t nice to walk through. The food was ok, but we didn’t think it was value for money. Small portions and no vegetables.
Very good duplex room for our needs as we were a family three. Wi Fi very good . Spectacular grounds and helpful, multilingual staff. Ample parking..
Hotel is 15-20 minutes walk from Bayeux including a few busy roads. Breakfast expensive.
