It was clean. There was a fridge. Good geographical location, making it a good start-off point to go to Quebec city or Charlevoix. Late check-in.
Beware, the "between river and mountain" and "riverside room" concepts and room photos are misleading. Our room was on said "riverside". They fail to mention the industrial area across the street blocking your view of the river, and the high traffic road (the 360). We heard vehicles all night and morning. We checked in late, so we most likely had part-time employees who were much less invested in their job. After checking in, the only info we got was how to get to our room, nothing else. I realize these are covid times and they want to limit interactions, but being masked and having a plexi-glass window in between us, can I get an idea of what is available on site? Zero customer service, none of that warm and welcoming arrival you'd come to expect from a place with "Auberge" in it's name. It felt like a cheap motel, where you're given your key and that's it. The lady at the desk the next morning was rather welcoming, but we were checking out, so it was too late to have any impact on our perception of this place. We walked into our room which was at 26 degrees C. Considering it was 19 degrees outside and we were coming back from a long sweaty hike, they could have at least had ventilation on or opened the windows. One of the windows was busted and we struggled to open it. When we realized they had AC (which is separate from the original thermostat and has its own control), we weren't able to close the window we had opened. The bed was really hard. I've spent a lot of time in hotels as my job requires me to travel, and I have to say this was the worst sleep I've had in a long time. I was more comfortable sleeping in my tent the 4 previous nights. The bar soap is one of the strangest I've felt in my experience. They leave a slimy residue that takes forever to rinse off. I'm confused as to where they get their soap. Finally, this is a small detail, but they only had a single garbage bin, located in the bathroom. For a hotel-sized room, there's usually a bin somewhere near the desk or bed so you don't have to move the bin around or bring each item you need to throw away to the bathroom.

Quiet A/C system.
It was disappointing. The hotel web site give the impression of something charming and romantic. The reality is otherwise: noise from the highway, no view to the river. Room was comfortable but a bit dark (small window). There was a fire place but no refrigerator (it 30+ °C outside).
