Beds very comfortable. Clean room. Car parking on site for an extra charge. Quiet location. Short walk (10-15 mins) to centre. Very basic. Shower, no bath. Cracked sanitary ware. Only one hanger supplied - a trouser hanger. Very cheap, worn furnishings. Compared with other hotels we have stayed at at this room rate, or similar, we felt this was poor value. Lacked comfort, except for the bed. Presumably it was trading off Besancon as a popular centre.
the hotel is in the old city centre - very conveniente !!
Very good value for money and about a 20 minute walk to the centre of town. The hotel gave us some useful information about restaurants nearby. We were able to park in front of the hotel.
Old world charm and smell of history
Location and helpful staff - room fairly basic but clean and serviceable Noise from room above - no tea/fridge facility in bedroom. Main difficulty was the lack of a lift and bedroom was 3 floors up!
Staff lovely particularly the chambre maid who did the washing and drying and folding of clothes for free. While not up to that staff members spectacularly high standard the whole staff were wonderful and spoke enough English to help us.
Friendliness of staff, room was perfect for a 2 night stay, great breakfast at a reasonable price, quiet location, close to Citadel steps We had a great experience at teh Granvelle
Very nice staff. Great location. Good place to store bicycles safely.
Very good location for exploring the city.
Although perhaps in need of more modern decor this was a very comfortable hotel for the price band. It is in a quiet part of the town, close to the citadel, but still within 5 minutes walk of the Grand Rue.
I liked my room of pool view, quietness, gardens and children playground. Also, the restaurant and the seating area around the pool are so reaxing.
Good space for a hotel room. The bed was terrible - you sunk into a hole - needed replacing. Strange bathroom settings with the taps.
Pleasant. Know what to expect from Novotel. Not exciting but easy. Kids playpark in field opposite entrance (better than hotel one). Not walking distance from anywhere else to eat, slightly rough area, pool too cold for kids to swim, menu limited, no kettle/tea in room.
Nice hotel, chilldfriendly with swimming pool , table tennis, play ground.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was excellent. The room was large. This hotel is a great "stopover" hotel, with the bonus of an excellent restaurant. There were only 2 pillows in the room. The location is not ideal (in a run-down residential area)
Comfortable room No English language television channel (unacceptable for a hotel at this price with numerous English guests). Noone at reception on our arrival; and no apology when receptionist eventually turned up. Poor value for money evening meal first night.
A better than average Novotel. Good service. Nice staff. Pleasant setting. Good fre on site parking. A long walk to the centre of Besancon and not that straightforward but worth the effort.
Good price and resturant Location far from city and dull surroundings.
Good bed, nice bathroom, friendly staff, print-out review possible in office center Surrounding not too nice, but located next to "old" city. Enough parking places.
Very nive and helpfull staff and very close to the old city
Friendly staff, private secured parking, the swimming pool
Excellent staff, helpful and cheerful. Location within a five minute walk of the city attractions. Parking is on site and safe. Hotel is more modest than the 8.5 rating on Booking.com would suggest. It is fair value for the price, modest rooms and furniture, no charm except for that of the staff, small bathroom. We were unable to connect to the internet via the cable and modem provided but that may have been an exception.
Very convenient location for station - about 10 mins' walk into the old town. Also particularly friendly and helpful reception staff. Some might be put off by a little noise from road and rail at front of hotel - but the rooms are double-glazed and noise levels not too high - and possibly by the "Boutique Erotique" next door (though I can't say it bothered me)!
The location. The room has only one window in the roof, but that wasn't a problem because we only stayed one night.
We stayed in a new comfortable extension which opened this year, carparking was on site and the room was relatively spacious and quiet. though their was a restaurant it was not yet open and there was only a limited choice for breakfast.
We stay here whenever we are in town. It is the best! Great people, great rooms, and great breakfast. It is necessary to reserve rooms well in advance because they are so popular. However, if you can plan ahead, get your room early.
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast good with nice room. Dinner meal available at the hotel was good and reasonably priced. Room was very clean and fresh. En-suite bathroom was a tiny modular unit with little space and small shower. Room was also small but adequate. The walk to the room on the first floor was via an outdoor uncovered balcony.
Lovely balcony, excellent breakfasts, well equipped rooms Coloured flashing lights in the room, corridors need paint
Perfect location for our purposes. Friendly helpfulness of the staff.
communication with train staion and very clean, also nice hotel staff during the night i was feeling hot and little disturb for masqitus
good location to access the city centre
Good location in the center of Besancon, pretty large room. Free parking in the hotel.
Easy to find and very modern
Could easily be a 4 star hotel.Restaurant was great and the prices were not expensive. no
Staff are friendly.Comfortable room.Adequate bathroom. Free secure parking. Very expensive internet, apparently to be free across the Accor Group from Jube 2010. Very expensive breakfast.Hotel generally could do with a refurb
Location, express breakfast. Needs to be updated. Air conditioning is inferior. Room was old and dusty. Too many tour buses at hotel.
Excellent location for a visit to lovely Bescancon, with good facilities including parking. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Central location but easy to find due to good guiding through the city. Excellent parking facilities was highly appreciated. Nothing
Pretty good - aircon not quite adequate - especially in Dining Room! No safe. Decor a bit past it, parking good though - restaurant for evening meal very good (although too warm despite a thunderstorm and pouring rain outside we were really sweating!) Breakfast too expensive.
Quiet. Small park on the other side of the road. Car park. Becoming slightly outdated. Badly stocked mini-bar. Mediocre restaurant. Expensive breakfast.
The staff were very helpful. The hotel suited our needs, a nights stopover where we could see something of France, short and sweet. We had misunderstood the booking and thought breakfast was included, so we were happy enough with what we got, a typical french breakfast (1 crossaint, 2 small pieces of baguette, with jam and butter and coffee, not of really very good quality food). Upon paying for the room we realised that had cost us €6 each. While I have no compliant with the hotel, I recommend that guests walk into the town and have breakfast there.
central parking, traditional French hotel.
The hotel offered efficient and friendly staff coupled with a good location for exploring the city. Love the exterior with flower boxes. The hotel although clean and tidy was a little tired in its appearance in the interior. My room especially the bathroom was in need of a makeover. Also, please upgrade the pillows.
A very homely feel The traffic system in bescancon is not well designed for getting to the hotel
No problems There was wifi available but only the 1st night there after it did not help reporting the wifi failure I was not understood.
The plates beside the buffet were not properly washed, and some of them looked as if they had been used. The plates at breakfast time were not much better.
The only thing that I liked: it was close to the motorway. Not to reccomend! Expensive, small room for four (number 11 bis), not very clean, the air conditioning was noisy even off !!! And breakfast, what a miserable buffet for 9 euros!!! You can chose te Etap Hotel, just in front of this bad Campanile.
A nice clean hotel with comfortable beds. A large supermarket is also near. This was a good stopover on the way back from Switzerland to Calais.
The layout of the hotel was pleasant being on just two floors in individual buildings. We found most of the staff very off hand and not welcoming. We ate there on our first visit and were not impressed by the tiny portions offered.
convenient, good location, good value, excellent service
Too much used. Not suitable for exacting travellers
It was convenient and easy to find whilst traveling through. the family room was too small for two teenage kids and two adults.
There was a lovely view which we could have enjoyed if we had had a room at the front of the hotel. The disabled parking space was taken and when I asked if there was another it turned out that a member of staff was using it and vacated it so that my husband could use it. I asked for a ground floor room as my husband has to walk with a stick but they said it did not matter as there was an elevator. However, there were three steps up to the elevator and then steps again from the elevator to the floor of our room. We stayed on a Friday when the Restaurant is apparently closed which was not very useful as the centre of town is not within walking distance. The breakfast is very expensive.
all was okay smoking rooms should have ashtrays
in the center of town. Receptionist was kind. it was incredibly hot, and rooms did not have air conditioned, we couldn't sleep all night. Breakfast very poor, bad coffee, barely anything to choose from besides some cereals and bread. No real parking for the car (we had to leave it on the street next to it).
Convenient location. Easy parking opposite by the railway station. Breakfast adequate.
About 200 metres from the railway station. About 1.5Kms. from the town centre, bus stop in front of the hotel. Very basic small to medium size room, but fair value for the price we paid. Breakfast 7 Euro's, simple continental but fair value. No english spoken but staff very helpful, we managed to communicate OK. Free internet worked well..About 5 cheap to medium priced eating places with 200 metres. OK for 1-3 nights stay. Typical 2 star hotel. Would stay again
Clean, double glazing, plenty of hot water. Convenient location, close to the railway station and only a 10min walk to town centre. Air ventilator in bathroom not working
Good, comfortable 2 star hotel. Free parking just outside front door. Helpful staff, fresh feel to hotel
This was a great hotel - close to the train and the city center. Staff was always nice, price was great and rooms were nice!
I found the staff very pleasant
Handy to the train station.
Very clean rooms, centrally located, only 10 minutes on foot to the city center and 1 minute on foot to the train station. Quite rooms No refrigerator in the room
Free Wi-Fi Internet access. quality/price ratio needs improvements. for that price we had lot better services in this period.
very good attitude of the hotel stuff if you are talking even fair french. continental breakfast is worse money cleanliness of the room, a bit of smell in the room
Sufficient place for parking. Clean room. Price. A little bit difficult approach from highway.
The reception staff were very helpful The hotel decor was very dated and mostly original (70's?). The only modern parts were the flat screen TVs (non-English speaking)
For the price it was adequate Small cramped room.
man behind desk was very helpful and spoke good english. also pleasant breakfast the surrounding area was rough and large amount of dog filth in the secure car park
Remarkabley good choice of home cooked food considering the staff multitask, receptionist, barman and cook all in one. Very helpfull staff. Was glad to park the car in secure car park (4 euros) Did not like the location which is opposite a block of flats where loud music was blaring out. Rooms are small and could do with a lick of paint. Being a hot day we could not open the window due to the noise of music. Fortunately we only stayed the 1 night before a long drive home after visiting Switzerland.
Location , it was very hard to find out how to get to the hotel from the train station and was certainly alot further than 10 minutes bus ride. Better instructions on location would be an improvement.
Being able to have breakfast at a early time and also the secure parking facilities Only the fact of lack of pillows one thin pillow per person is really not enough and rather uncomfortable. Does not make for a good night rest.
The staff was very attentive. Location. Very difficult to reach by car. Had to drop by to another hotel to ask directions...
