10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the most lovely hotel everything was perfect. The staff are excellent can not do enough for you. The bedrooms are very comfortable we had room 2 with double aspect windows and would ask for it again when we go back which we are sure to do. The breakfast served beside the pool is extra but well worth it as it set us up for the day. Can not recommend highly enough. The area is a delight with the most fantastic scenery. There are also a couple of restaurants in the village which we would highly recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property had parking very nearby. There was a lovely view of the river from our room. There were some lovely walks around the town and very good restaurants. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was very good and there was plenty of it.
Cons: Only if the hotel itself had a restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location by the river. Lovely host and gorgeous old building. Lovely lying by the pool in very hot temperatures. We were given a constant supply of cold water. Amazing service.
Cons: The wasps but not the hotels fault.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It is a small hotel in a beautiful setting. The rooms are very nice and the garden with pool and jacuzzi is very relaxing. The staff is very friendly.
Cons: That we could not stay a second night :-).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is amazing! The women at the hotel spoke very good English and were very caring, bringing us fresh ice water everyday when we went into the pool or giving us croissants throughout the day. The rooms and view was amazing and I can not recommend this hotel enough it was perfect, from the free coffee machine to the gorgeous interior design of the whole hotel and the lovely garden!
Cons: Nothing it was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It has a beautifull decor inside each room / bedroom - very special. Stunning views from bedrooms onto river and over the old bridge. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and only fault was that we booked 1 night instead of 3 or more.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property good combination of modern and traditional styling.
Cons: More sun loungers but minor detail.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived on a motorcycle in a heatwave. As soon as I walked into reception I was given 2 bottles of ice cold water. This was an excellent start and an indicator of the standard of customer service that was to follow.. Nothing was too much trouble for Catherine and Angelique who looked after us wonderfully. From fresh towels for the pool to complementary coffee/teas to garage parking for our moto.. The river-view room was cool, comfortable and quiet and the garden and pool were lovely.. Breakfast was excellent.. I've never given a 10/10 review before but this was special.
Cons: If I was being extra picky, maybe the separate toilet in our room was a bit cramped.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous setting in lovely grounds with a river running through. Met on arrival by the Owner’s son, Oliver, which was very welcoming after a long drive. Family run with fantastic attention to detail. Great Comfort Double Room - Eve On the edge of the buildings - had everything and more that we could have wanted. Very spacious with a small balcony perfect for our lunch of bread and cheese (and a nice Bergerac!). Hairdryer, small drinks fridge, good WiFi, etc. Location to Brantôme 3mins drive or 20mins walk via the grassy path & tunnel - high shoes not a good idea! Pool Area Very pleasant pool area with excellent outdoor furniture. No kids, which was just great; give us Adult Only/Pet Free properties any day! WiFi satisfactory in all the areas we were...
Cons: Our one slight negative would be that Breakfast was not included in the GBP167 per night rate but charged at an extra GBP32.00 for 2 - bringing it up to just under £200 per night. After all, breakfast was only Continental (although tasty & beautifully served, and the only time ever that my handbag had its own stool!) with an egg option. There were no cold meats so it was all rather heavily geared towards breads and pastries. Wrought iron beds in the gardens seemed a bit out of character.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was first class - accommodation ,food, ambiance and staff excellent all.The little present given to my wife by lady owner on our departure summed up the way guests were treated
Cons: Leaving
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning family run hotel. Great room, service excellent and food fantastic. Will definitely be back. Great find in a converted water mill, which has been done very well.
Cons: Nothing, all very good
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Difficult to fault this lovely hotel. Our second visit and we were not disappointed. Although the aircon in our room didn't work they tried very hard to get it fixed and offered us an alternative room if we wished and also credited us for drinks when we had dinner in the restaurant. Beautiful family run old mill with tastefully decorated rooms, lovely pool and beautiful grounds. Breakfast plentifully and tasty and staff helpful and friendly.
Cons: Hardly anything. If I have to be picky I would say that they could do with a full length mirror in the bedroom. We ate dinner in the hotel one night which was good but rather expensive. Also the waiter was rather bossy telling me what I should eat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our holiday in the Dordogne and it was a fantastic end to our holiday. The whole location is lovely, there are large gardens to walk in, a river running under the mill (it has a water wheel) with fish and ducks, and lots of demoiselles flying around when we got there. Dinner and breakfast was served on the terrace as it was so hot, but on one night I had an attack of hay fever and we were moved inside for dinner with no problems, the staff made it very easy. The waiter and waitress (Emily) in the restaurant were very good and Emily in particular was so efficient, friendly and helpful - we never saw her without a smile! The family owners are to be complimented on their lovely hotel and restaurant and we will certainly be returning. If you're eating in the restaurant for dinner, the sea bass is to die for.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of the hostess was excellent. The room was very tastefully decorated with a beautiful balcony over looking the pool. Evening meal in a fantastic setting by the river
Cons: Excellent- no improvements
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I do have to say the Owners & all the Staff were amazingly helpful , friendly & the Owner who is also the Chef (Wow what fantastic meals he creates 5*) The Breakfast was also 5* (would give it 6* if I could) it was a delight, wonderful Crepe's Cakes..Bread..pastries..jams..Fresh fruit..Freshly squeezed juices..& Coffee..& more!! unbelievable chose..honestly you have to see it to believe It ...
Cons: Everything about Moulin de Vigonac was Stunning the only reason I couldn't give it all 10s was Our air con had broken just before we arrived so we found it difficult to sleep
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Excellent staff. Great food.
Cons: Nothing of note. Very expensive but worth it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely individual room near pool. Food was unbelievably good, lovely views on terrace overlooking garden. Hosts and staff could not have been nicer. It was our first visit but we will be back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Le Moulin de Vigonac is an exemplary hotel with a strong emphasis on quality throughout. The welcome was friendly and warm, the food superb, the wine list very good, and the rooms are really comfortable and decorated to a very high standard. Beautiful grounds, great pool, and you can't beat the sound of water in the mill! We would very much look forward to staying again. Everyone went the extra mile to look after our every need.
Cons: We liked everything.

Cons: Parking
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing appartement in a great location - beautifully renovated and well furnished. Really loved it.
Cons: We rented one apartment for our 3 daughters and the third fold out bed was just rather small for an adolescent. For a small child it would probably be fine, but it was a bit narrow for anyone larger...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place with clean bathroom, 2 large windows, and a lovely little kitchen. Best for a solo traveller or a couple, as the bathroom/shower area is quite open. Shower was amazing. There is a tv but no cable, so bring some dvds if you want a night in!
Cons: booking.com mentioned a 200 eur cash deposit upon arrival. I was happy that this was not requested when I arrived, but I wish this had been clear upfront.

Pros: What a great apartment in a beautiful building and town. Location is just right, a few minutes walk into the centre and quiet at night. We stayed in the ground floor studio. It was decorated very tastefully and had everything we could have needed. In addition to that, it was SPOTLESS, very clean and well maintained. Free Parking is just over the road, couple of minutes walk. 100% recommend and we will definitely return.
Cons: There was a bit of a fusty smell and the shower went cold quite quickly.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfortable beds, very clean and excellent bathroom facilities; Florence was a charming and helpful hostess
Cons: Very little to not like. Very small points were that the room (room 3) was very small - could just fit in 2 weekend bags, and would have liked to have breakfast included for the price, but these were very minor things.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Little bit of damp in room
Cons: Pool staff and smells
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved it . Loved everything from the friendly yet professional check in right through to departure . Sophie was the epitome of hospitality ensuring our stay was perfection . There truly are no sufficient superlatives to describe our experience . The decor is superb , the gardens an oasis of peace and tranquility away from the business of Brantome yet steps away from being at centre of everything . The bed linens were sublime , the towels unusual but soft and so absorbent , beautiful pottery for breakfast covers all served on our little terrace outside our room . Breakfast was a delight , hand made toiletries beautifully scented from the gardens and everything served with a smile from Sophie and her lovely colleague . What a joy ! A little piece of paradise . Thank you for a fabulous stay .
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like . Absolutely nothing .
6.8 Good
Pros: Breakfast was amazing, room spotless, staff amazing,
Cons: We booked a triple as had our son who is 11 years old with us. The bed for him was a camping bed that was very uncomfortable and caused him to wake in the night to jump into pier double bed which wasn't big enough for 3! I mentioned it the next day but the owner wasn't willing to move us to a family room unless we paid more. When I agreed to do that they then sold the room to another family so sadly we had to endure another night of poor quality sleep. I believe if you are selling a triple room it should have a proper bed in there.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff are great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our second visit after 2 years A real favourite of ours with a beautiful room and balcony Easy walking into Brantôme
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent

Overview Reviews
Located in Brantome-en-Perigord, Le Chatenet is within a 15-minute drive of Brantome Abbey and Chateau de Bourdeilles. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I travelled with my elderly mother and William offered us a room on the ground floor for convenience when we arrived which I thought was very thoughtful. We had a fantastic stay and could make the most out of it as William gave us some great tips of what to do in the area. Staying at le Chatenet was more like staying at a friends house than staying at a hotel which was great and unexpected for us. I'd love to come back with my family and children as the kids would have loved the pool and huge gardens and tennis courts. So hope to see it again soon!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place, great location, unbelievably friendly and accommodative hosts.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fanastic
Cons: Pool was a little dated and tired
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved our stay at Le Chatenet. William and his team made every effort to make us feel welcome and at home. The place is fantastic, very family friendly, a short walk into Brantome and has so much character. There is so much to discover in the region, a week didn't quite seem enough. Breakfast is superb and provides great opportunity to meet fellow travelers and plan the day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely breakfasts. Quirky hotel full of character with a brilliant owner who speaks excellent English. Great shower, bedroom and balcony and super-relaxed atmosphere. If you're looking for a faceless corporate hotel experience this isn't for you but we loved it as a true French experience. The walk to Brantome was easy and we managed to get back in the dark (iphone torches were more than adequate) with no difficulties despite having 2 kids under 10. The pool was great during the sweltering weather. Tennis court excellent too as was the table tennis.
Cons: Only very minor points - some of the decking round the swimming pool needs renovating (which appeared to be being started whilst we were there). New snooker/pool ques would be welcome as the ones provided had poor tips.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful characterful property with friendly owners
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host William and all of his staff were absolutely amazing. I don't often post reviews but it would be a complete disservice to William, the staff and the Hotel if I didn't. It was an amazing place and nothing was too much trouble for william and his staff. Thoroughly recommended!!!
Cons: Nothing, it was all completely superb.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A very warm welcome and plenty of assistance from the owners who do their outmost to make sure you have a great stay. Beautiful renovated 17 century house. Walking distance from the town

Pros: Everything was perfect from the friendly staff, the location, the breakfast and our bedroom was so big. Definitely will be returning!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and hosts who went out of their way to assist.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location room was big and the bathroom but our 2nd room was a very small double and our friends had to sleep in the spare single.
Cons: Did not like the fact we were under another room and the people who were above us were walking around making a lot of noise very late at night and we could not sleep. Then also at breakfast we were told to be quite just talking normally.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, facilities and staff perfect
Cons: Would of been amazing if had aircon as was very hot
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful owners. Large room and good breakfast with unexpected lovely crepes. Good central location in this charming old town, with plenty of restaurants close by. Free parking available in car park a short walk away.

Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The people who owned the place were really helpful and friendly, the setting was stunning, and the facilities absolutely beautiful. The owner gave us a brilliant recommendation for dinner which was a local night market with live music. Beds were comfortable and really nice shower.
Cons: The fitness suite was just a smelly room with 2 machines - not suitable for anyone really serious about fitness and you can't use the pool in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Le Mas des Bories definitely has the 'wow' factor! Walking across from the large, shady car parking area you come upon a simply stunning property with an imaculately kept, very pretty garden with an infinity pool. As gardeners ourselves, we just wanted to drop our bags and have a wander round it. We managed to stay focussed though and, once inside the property, were equally delighted by its beautiful interior. Our hosts were welcoming, friendly and attentive and led us to our room on the first floor. As with all Mas des Bories rooms, it looked out over the garden so was quiet despite the property being near a road (and we do sleep with the windows open). Later, we had a swim (towels were provided), then after an apertif in the garden, we chose to eat in the charming dining room (you do need to book dinner in advance of your stay) and we enjoyed everything we ordered except one of the cheeses which smelled of old socks (no, we are not connaisseurs of cheese!). The wine suggested to us was excellent too. I would recommend Le Mas des Bories to couples or solo travellers.
Cons: Hard to find anything negative to say about the delightful Mas des Bories. To be picky, the decorative French doors to bathroom with pretty curtains instead of glass were attractive but afforded little privacy.
7.0 Good
Pros: + super charming building
Cons: - rooms are rather small (and we already upgraded the room) - no A/C... Summer is hot! - bit strange to be told by host that he cannot understand you because of your accent. Especially when you are a born and raised French... hoping that has nothing to do with ethnicity
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Our host Pascale was excellent. He has a great dry sense of humour and he and his wife are a lovely couple. The 16th century farmhouse is stunning and dinner and breakfast in the gardens wonderful. The food quality is excellent and with wine all very reasonably priced. Also a lovely infinity pool to cool off. We highly recommend this beautiful hotel.
Cons: The rooms do not have air-conditioning but even at 36C we slept well.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and attentive hosts who served delicious food. The hotel itself was charming, spotless with stylish decor and furnishings. French rural charm at its best.
7.0 Good
Pros: Lovely property with lots of charm and character. Good food generally although limited choice.
Cons: Over priced for what we got. Pool not open for the kids, limited choice of food for children. For nearly €500 for one night, evening meal, wine and breakfast we felt was a lot.

5.5 Okay
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful quiet setting and easy access to tourist sites, warm and personal welcome from owner, good breakfast, excellent value for money. We would not hesitate to recommend it to others exploring the Brantome area.
Cons: Tall guests need to watch out for low-flying ceilings and beams!
6.3 Good
Pros: The owner of the property was delightful, very helpful and aimiable Basic but nice French breakfast fresh bread and croissants daily, home made jams Somewhat Unkempt but welcoming garden
Cons: Rooms very dusty, cobwebs and bits everywhere and a very low roof. We are quite tall and couldn't see in the bathroom mirror the position of it was under a beam. We were asked to go barefoot due to the noise with no carpets, which was fine, but the floors downstairs and in the bedrooms were dusty, crumbs and bits all over, we purchased soft slippers to wear as we stayed a week. We were looking forward to using the pool but despite being there to use we decided against it as the water was turbid and cloudy, a maintenance issue I suspect.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Not a lot unable to answer as not satisfied
Cons: It is not a hotel it is just a house with 2 rooms she rents out at a high price we had great difficulty finding it only to be told she had to go out and we wouldn’t be able to get in if we didn’t find the house
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The use of a fridge in the communal area. Lovely looking swimming pool but didn't get to use it. Twin beds were nice and wide and not just a standard single. Very peaceful at night.
Cons: Some ham and cheese would have been nice for breakfast rather than just bread and jam.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very spacious top floor room, light and airy. Large walk-in shower. Parking was one-minute walk away in front of the village hall. Nice view from the breakfast area. Friendly welcome.

Cons: Would not expect paper cups and wooden stir sticks in a 4* hotel. Breakfast was ok but cooked elements were very poor.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good central location, clean comfortable hotel with good air conditioning! This hotel chain has gone minimalist in decor. Not for me.
Cons: No parking available had to put my new car in a public car park, but it was okay and loads cheaper! Poor menu in restaurant, again no vegetarian option. The thing that hurt most was €64 for 2 breakfasts! OUCH! Another hotel with a small shallow sink in the bathroom.

Pros: It’s a very cute place to stay - however you will need a car as it’s of track but if you have a car it’s literally an 7/8 min drive so not far at all, the hosts where so lovely and welcoming breakfast was perfect nothing was to much trouble they made you feel very welcome and at ease. A lovely place very peaceful and beautiful! ❤️❤️
Cons: I didn’t like that our room didn’t have a bathroom inside it, we still had one which was ours but I was not an ensuite this only was an issue because I had to get dressed to go to the bathroom and felt I couldn’t walk around in my PJ’s (just me being me)- however we did have a balcony

Very friendly treatment and atmosphere, with Fabienne making sure we felt at home and always helpful in suggesting places to visit in the area. 3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: I had booked a upgraded river view room, I wasn't told when checking in that this room wasn't available and instead was just given a basic and frankly depressing room with no view. I explained to the reception that I wasn't happy and they said a river view room wasn't available in the hotel. No difference in price was offered and to be frank the staff were extremely rude. We were celebrating our engagement and this was the last two days of our holiday so I said I didn't want to check in and I wasn't to be charged as what I booked wasn't available. The receptionist and Manager agreed and we left however I was still charged. I have emailed twice, its been 2 weeks and still no reply. Shocking service and a very basic hotel, pictures do not display the room we were offered and it certainly wasn't worth the price. I also went on to say that I had actually booked an checked into a sister hotel for the coming two nights so the fact they still havent replied and charged me is shocking!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a stunning location by the river and next to the abbey. The restaurant is amazing Michelin starred and a great experience in fine dining. Breakfast was lovely.
Cons: Nothing to not like!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the Moulin cannot be faulted located as it is on the bank of a river. The rooms are just fine-not the biggest I have ever stayed in-but plenty, plenty big enough for our 1 night stay. Nicely furnished, effective air condition ing on a very hot evening. We ate out on the terrace with the river flowing by just 10 feet away. Utter magic.
Cons: Absolutely nothing..!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely helpful friendly and polite. The restaurant was excellent. The position was very good, convenient for Brantome but just on the edge of the action to give a quiet peaceful atmosphere.
Cons: activity of spiders around the lamps in the restaurants was a little disconcerting for my arachnophobic friends!
7.0 Good
Cons: I booked this hotel according to the photos on the internet, and I expected to have a room in this main building near the moulin which shows in the photo.on the internet no mentioning that there is another building. So, I was surprised when they gave me a room in the other building which is located at 400 meters from the main building, for breakfast I have to walk all this distance to reach the breakfast room. The phone in the room doesn’t work and I had to make phone call with my mobile . The smell of this building is not pleasant, it smells the deserted dumb air. The breakfast is poor, not the standard of a 4 stars hotel.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Property beautiful, staff very helpful and our stay was wonderful.
Cons: Cannot fault anything at all.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location of the property is outstanding, very authentic and a perfect scenery.
Cons: We was in an outbuilding so felt a bit excluded from the atmosphere of the hotel. Also missed lunch which we were looking forward too as didn’t realise it had a finish time!

7.5 Good
Pros: Location is in the middle of Brantome. Owner very pleasant as were the staff. Have stayed before would stay again.
Cons: Everything fine
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel room was clean and functional but the best thing about our stay was the hotel restaurant. We tried the regional specialities menu the first night and were so impressed that we returned the next night for the surprise menu. In contrast to the bedroom the restaurant was very smart, though welcoming. The food and the service (principally by the proprietor who never seems to stop working) was superb. If you enjoy excellent French cuisine this is a place to try. The breakfast (continental) was also very good and of a very high standard. I hope we have the chance to return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was outstanding. Dinner was the best meal we have had for a very long time. The gourmet menu was well worth the cost. Fresh local food cooked to a very high standard.Breakfast was limited in choice but again the food was to a high standard. Also enjoyed the small swimming pool.
Cons: Decor was a little dated but added to the overall ambiance of a family run hotel in rural France. Not a problem for us but there was no air conditioning or lift to rooms which are all on the first floor. Also a bit of a trek from car park although you can decant cases at reception and then move car.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quality in all respects.
Cons: Nothing !
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fine, just as I expected it to be and the hotel is well situated close to the centre of Brantome. The food in the restaurant was also excellent. Overall, a very enjoable stay.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome, great breakfast and beautiful decor (crystals & cartonnage). Martine shared her knowledge of the Dordogne which added to the interest of our tour.
Cons: Rue Marcel Pagnol is a little hard to find if you approach from the west, better to approach from the east.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet location, secure parking. There are no restaurants nearby so don't arrive tired and not want to drive! The B&B is easy to find, not far from the autoroute. The room is quite comfortable, the best sleep I have had in a while! The owner is over-the-top friendly and helpful. She even invited me to dinner, mostly out of pity I think because I was on a motorcycle! I had been driving all day, and the day was so hot. My sorrow was that I don't speak French. We managed with translating programs, and she was very patient and tolerant.
Cons: Perfect place, perfect location
