I’ve travelled very widely through Europe, Africa, and South America, and I’ve never had a worse hotel experience. The motel didn’t have the room that I’d prepaid for, and they wouldn’t refund me—which in hindsight feels like a scam. When I pursued a refund through Expedia, the property owner lied, and said they’d offered me the King bed but I declined, which was a total fabrication. The room was absolutely disgusting—infested with flies; strong smell of urine and nicotine; furniture, pillow, and sheets stained by sweat and ejaculate. I can sleep anywhere, but my wife and I strongly suspected we’d get lice or bedbugs staying here. Bottom line—stay anywhere else. Every other room within a hour radius of Brattleboro was booked, but we still decided to spend the night in our sedan over sleeping in this hell-hole, despite having paid for the room.
The room reeked of cigarettes so much that we and our clothes smelled like cigarettes when we checked out. There was no faucet handle in the shower so it couldn’t be used. Burn marks all over the sink, the chair, bedspread. The staff was unapologetic. People were coming and going from other rooms until 3 or 4 am. We arrived late at night and got the last room and had no other options.
Pros. Comfortable bed for sleeping. Vermont is too beautiful to spend any time in the room except to sleep.
Cons. Old worn carpet, old furniture, damp small bathroom. Bathroom sink drained poorly. No protein sources for breakfast!
Pros. Clean and secure, nice location
Cons. Rooms smelled like smoke, did not honor Kayak price, cigarette burns on bed and bathroom vanity. Being the cheapest hotel in town it attracted the lowlifes who figured it normal to yell and scream outside until 2am about wanting to buy and modify a MF Landover and drive around with the " homies" bathroom was tiny and took about 5 minutes to actually get hot water. No room thermostat to control temperature.
