Pros: The property is a 10 minute drive away from the ski resort, and it’s nested in a picturesque valley. The property is well presented combing modern amenities and comfortable furnishings, with a touch of traditional hand made decors, specific of the area. Spacious rooms, beds and a good sized individual bathroom with shower cabin. We also loved the heavy duvets and the soft pillows, as well as the complete quietness of the area during the nights - we’ve been sleeping very, very well! The hosts were very welcoming and genuine. We felt well looked after and received fantastic customer service! We highly recommend this property, in particular if you plan to experience the local carpathian landscapes, as well as the rich local cuisine and customs!

Pros: The host was very friendly, even though she speaks very little English, and we have some problems communicating. The place was in the middle of nowhere, so it is difficult to find food other than eating in. But then it is situated in a beautiful countryside. The house was pretty modern. The host cooked us bean soup and polenta with cheese on first night, no meat. On second night she cooked chicken noodle soup and chicken. both meals were pretty delicious. But then she charged us US$5 for breakfast and $10 for dinner, which is a little expensive for simple food in Romania standard.

Pros: Warm welcome from a very nice host. Room is large, comfortable and in a perfect location for exploring the beautiful wooden churches of Maramures.

Pros: Hosted by a great young couple the place has several small buildings to stay in, 2 modern ones and a tradtional one. The garden is filled with animals and places to sit and enjoy the scenery. The meals are excellent, the atmosphere very congenial and welcoming. The best place to stay in Breb!

Cons: The owners only speak Italian apart from Romanian and my italian is a little weak! But that is my problem, not theirs!

Pros: Recommended. It's located near the church. The room is bright, clean and cozy. The host is lovely. We had a wonderful time in this rural area.

Pros: The hosts are friendly and the 2 provided rooms are well decorated. We felt like we are in farm stay when there are animals such as rabbits, pony and hosts grow their own vegetables.

Pros: We loved every thing about this place. All the meals were delicious and varied with wonderful flavors and delicious desserts. our room was traditional and this added to the authenticity of the experience.

Pros: Very nice authentic old village house in a beautiful quiet setting. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The village (Breb) is also very beautiful, one of the few villages from Transylvania that are not spoiled by uncontrolled development.

Cons: We enjoyed our stay and don't have complaints - just some improvement ideas: The kitchen could be better equipped, we missed a larger bowl and a fork (I am sure that the hosts would gladly help us in this respect).

Pros: We were so excited to finally find an authentic Romanian village untouched by the world. We felt detached from the modern world with locals in their carriages pulled by horses, old farmers working outdoors, everyone taking care of their farm and animals. It is the perfect location to see true Romanian culture without driving out. Just take a long walk around and visit the locals. They won't bite when you knock on their door or say hi. They are happy to talk to you. You will live right next to the cows, dogs, crows, local farmers, it's simply idyllic with the most unforgettable views of the valley, mountains, day and night, the mist in the valleys, the sunrise, the sunset. In the summer they have traditional dances. A traditional restaurant just up the road gives you an unforgettable experience. How can it get better? Meanwhile the little house is so cozy with a bedroom upstairs, kitchen downstairs, and a porch to enjoy the outdoors while taking a drink. And most of all, you have a very caring host and hostess taking care of your every request. How can it get better? Every day the drive out and back in is photo worthy, the views are so perfect.

Cons: What was there not to like? Maybe the bumpy stony gravel road that took us on our rental car from the main road to our house for maybe ten minutes, but it's all part of the experience, so fun every day!! Didn't like? The old man forcing us to buy his palinka that we ended up giving to a taxi driver in Bucharest. While finding Casa Faina and stumbling upon him, don't listen to him. Although he's worth meeting for the fun of it and a photo shot.

Pros: Charming authentic living sample in this jewel compact traditional timber house with added modern essentials for contemporary living, located within vernacular context, beautifully integrated in Breb village, surrounded by charming and inquisitive villagers, eager to welcome all visitors!

Pros: It was a piece of a fairytale, from the houses to the scenery. The owners are really nice, open to any suggestion you might have. The houses are cosy (I've stayed in one, but seen a few), beautifully decorated with traditional objects, plus the amenities are what you'd expect in a modern house. It's peaceful, quiet, beautiful!

Cons: There isn't one thing I didn't like.

Pros: The location with fantastic views was amazing, and the renovated traditional house has great charm. The owners who live just up the road were very helpful and friendly.

Pros: The idyllic century-old home (with all the amenities) and the surroundings of the village of Breb were the perfect setting for spending family time around the Winter Holidays. The hosts were outstanding in every way. We built unforgettable memories there at "Casa din Vale" this Winter.

Cons: The awful quality of the roads in the village. Narrow dirt roads that need urgent attention. Not at all the hosts' fault, in any way.

Pros: We really enjoy staying there. The owner and his wife are very friendly. The food is very good. The only problem is that no English was spoken, but we managed with the Italian.

Pros: I appreciated a lot the distance to the slope and the quite beautiful scenery and the overall view. It’s a family business and the house was pretty clean and welcoming. The bathroom was clean and spacious.

Cons: I bed was squeaky and not very comfortable. As well, we’ve requested additional pillows or blanket, but we were told that they have an exact number, therefore one/room.

Pros: Nice location, nice hosts. 7min drive to ski slopes, big and clean room. Really good choice for the weekend.

Pros: Staff was extremely nice and friendly. They guided us on what to see in our short stay. The food was traditional and very good. The views are excellent. Location is easy to find and close to major tourism attractions.

Pros: Family friendly atmosphere. Rooms are basic but equipped with all that is necessary. Food is varied, fresh, tasty according to the local cuisine.

Pros: Nice place in the village hidden in the mountains. We got a family room with two double beds. The room is clean, beds comfortable, it's good place to stay for a night while traveling back from holiday in south-east Romania (we drove from Constanta). Maramures region is alone worth of visiting, so this place might be also a good place to stay for a longer visit. The best advantage staing here is breakfast - we tried various local dishes, like cheese and jam and it was very tasty. And breakfast is included in price of stay, so no extra cost - kind of rare in such places in Romania.

Cons: If u have a child with you (3-4-5 y.o), you have to purchase an extra bed because the bedsize is small, and 3 don't fit in. In winter it is hard to reach the parking unless you've got a 4x4 car

Pros: Very caring host. Swimming pool outside and inside and sauna. All food from own garden and self prepared. Tabletennis inside. Free home made liquor at dinner. Nice home made breakfast. Tip: go to the monastry on Sunday morsig to visit the local ceremony and see all local people in traditional clothing.

Cons: Swimming pool outside not heated. Rooms not made on Sunday (which was not said upfront).

Pros: Very friendly owners and staff. Very good food. The breakfast is delicious traditional food. We also ordered dinner, which was very good. The pillows are hypoallergenic, and that is a big plus from my side. Also, the robe is a very nice touch for the pool, and not only. Having one-time use slippers in the room would have been ideal because there are no carpets in the room and bathroom. If you visit, I would recommend bringing slippers, which can be also used at the pull.

Cons: The reception staff is not very welcoming and did not give us all the information necessary when we arrived. She didn’t tell us the code in order to leave the skies in the special room next to the slope. Another person told me that I can leave my skies there but I need the code from the receptionist. So in the evening I went to demand the code but there was nobody at the reception. She didn’t give us the WiFi code either. In fact she just gave us the key when we arrived and I paid, not friendly at all. For the restaurant of the hotel, the food is good but it’s a shame that everything is cold. They don’t have the necessary recipients in order to keep the food worm for breakfast so the omelet was completely cold. It is really a shame.

Pros: Very friendly family run guest house. Daughter was excellent front of house. Mum was superb cook. Ate dinner and breakfast for 3 days. Very substantial and tasty meals. Lovely covered outdoor eating area.

Cons: There was no restaurant, the host lady was cooking, but when we decided not to have dinner, we had no chance to buy or make a cup of tea. We were offered a jug of lukewarm water... The small room was a little bit noisy, overlooking the street.
