What are the pros of staying at Riu Palace Baja California?
The best part of this hotel was being able to watch all of the whales, right from the resort. It also felt very safe, as long as you didn't get close to the edge where the sales people harass you. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Ocean views from poolside is awesome. Buffet food on a very high level for such a big hotel. Spacious rooms. Helpful and very friendly staff. Good choice in close proximity to downtown Cabo. Beautiful facility and pools. Hotel is very nice, staff work very hard and are very friendly and courteous. The food was nice. I liked the multiple pool options and adult activities / games. Everything, it’s not one thing I can complain about. The resort is beautiful, and the safe was friendly. Beautiful ocean view! I loved waking up to see the beautiful Arch daily. Good pools and bars. It is a scenic location with beautiful views. My room was very comfortable. Luxurious resort. All inclusive/adults only. Relaxing pools and on the beach. Comfy bed. Being at an all inclusive made it easy to stay and relax. No need to tour and just enjoy the resort. The food selection was nice. The beach was nice too as well the other two resorts you can explore. We found the Rui Place family more quiet and therefore more relaxing. Nice beach under palm trees not overly crowded/dense, certain level of exclusivity. The staff is exceptionally nice and always there to help. Really all people working there are great and friendly. We loved that theres not only pool but also beach access. The food and drinks are good too, so many options and you can get something 24/7. Great hotel! The layout of the hotel was nice along with the staff. The staff were friendly and attentive. Rooms and clean and spacious. The pools were nice as well. It's only a few minutes to the town center. Staff was very friendly, rooms were clean, food was good. The staff was exceptional! Very comfortable atmosphere. Very clean facility. The resort had a lot of great features. Pools were great. The beach was fantastic. The staff were fun, attentive and quick to get drinks or food orders. The restaurants were good and gave a good selection of different foods. The buffer had good food. Food was good, great food choices, views is excellent Entertainment and party life is fun, wish it was more hip hop music they should of played Also could of did better with bday celebration set up could of add balloons, extra stuff not just a towel. Great location with great service. Location was great. Wonderful clean, spacious room. Good service throughout stay. Pools great. Beach front as advertised. Tasty, plentiful, varied, mains and desserts. A bit isolated as expected with an all inclusive but taxis and tours readily available. See Victor at the Scuba Caribe stand near pool. Their scuba tours were perfect and they offer more. If Victor can't directly provide exactly what you are looking for, he'll help find it.
What are the cons of staying at Riu Palace Baja California?
Upon booking, RIU boasts that you receive $750 worth of "services". However, once you arrive, you find out that this is in the form of a coupon book for their extremely overpriced options. Like $10 off of a pedicure, etc. The people on the beach constantly bother you and try to sell you cigars, weed, coke, and heroine. They do not take no for an answer and nearly ruined the entire experience. Do NOT go on the beach. You can walk from one resort to the other without exposing yourself to that. We had traveler's diarrhea the whole time, despite using bottled water... even to brush our teeth. The beach had red flag warnings every day. My biggest complaint was regarding the "activities". Most of the time they either just never happened (dance class) or were pitiful (lazy games = cart with 2 things of Scrabble and one deck of Uno). They play the same music all day, every day. The entertainment was mediocre at best. Unless you like to drink all day, every day, book elsewhere. The food on the buffet became monotonous. You should think about changing the dishes and not incorporate dishes from the specialty restaurants on the buffet. Although, the drinks were included with the package the quality of drinks was subpar. If you provided middle tier alcohol it would take less drinks to reach inebriation versus numerous bottom shelf which were poorly made. It was the worst Pina coloda and espresso martini I ever drank. The Queen beds are tiny As it is an AI hotel, the guests tend to be drunk already around 3pm which makes it a noisy place where it is hard to peacefully relax BUT: The beach offers beds and umbrellas where you can chill! Very disappointed in the Gym, as a couple that try to look after our health. There was very little equipment and what was there was mostly broken. No heat in rooms. To many staff new no English Restaurant food was very sub par and all types of food tasted the same Noise level coming from Rio Party was totally unacceptable More variety food. The buffet is the best they offer. Beds are very springy and not comfortable I didnt care much for the buffet menu. I also believed the drinks (liquor was watered down). I barely got any influence from consuming them on site yet if off locations the marina drinks would be immediately felt. I slept in and so a late brunch option would have been nice. I became quite ill the day I returned home - stomach flu Not a whole lot not to like Our room was next to the other Riu hotel where all the parties are, so it was quite loud. Even with the windows closed you could here the music and also the other hotel guests next in the hallway quite well (we could still sleep, but might be a bit annoying for others). Would prefer ocean or garden view next time due to this. I did not care for the restaurants. The ice machine on our floor didn't work. They could have more shows on the main stage. Magic acts, dancers, and more variety of talents. The rock band on our last was great. More football games on the big screen. Especially Monday night football. No top shelf liquor they had gas station liquor that was crazy and had to walk off to smoke my cigar Beds were rock hard, food was mediocre at best, no airport shuttle, toilet didn't flush correctly. The beds were hard as rocks. Woke up in pain everyday. The food was okay. If the food was at least hot it would’ve been a bit better. The lack of heated pools during the colder months was a bit shocking. The flies were annoying but not much the hotel could do. It was quite tacky and touristy, the service at the restaurants in the evening was quite average The hotel’s reception charged us extra for government tax that I have no idea about it. ☹️ The food service was terrible. I got food poisoning from the food after being there for 2 days. Really need to change the food so people don’t get sick and waste their money at the resort
