The cost!! We were only in town for a night, we went to a wedding, and we left promptly at eight The next morning. The padlock on the freezer of the full-sized refrigerator and the miscellaneous, broken furniture. I would also have liked to know it was technically an adjoining room before our arrival.
This hotel is run by a very friendly couple, and the rooms are clean, appear to be recently remodeled and are in wonderful condition! The location, although on a busy road, is quiet and parking is very convenient! I will definitely stay here again!
Firm beds. Room had had a smoker. Did not seem all that clean. Nothing was right... Comfort inn bath mat... Holiday inn cups.... Travel lodge tray... And a giant two door refrigerator ... Large kitchen type sink... Paint was on everything... We slept and left...
That it didn't cost that much. Room really smelled and was pretty dirty and the towels were very hard. There was no coffee pot and I have never seen that before in a room rented. Parking was on big hill and not enough for the amount of people that stay there.
It was dry and had air conditioning Was a tad run down but clean and servicable. well worth the price
Room was very clean and comfortable. Loved the bed. Extremely comfortable and slept well. Nice tv. . Bathroom was spotless. We checked in around 3:30 and everything was fine. We left to out around 6 and returned around 10.30 PM. Every parking spot was taken. I`m not sure how many units this hotel has but parking is no where near comparable to the amount of rooms available . When I asked the staff person where I should park he told me to park at the restaurant next door. When I voiced my concern about this his attitude was like " whatever". Guess he had heard it so many times it didn`t phase him. Not sure if I would stay here again or not. For such a wonderful place to stay this is an issue that needs to be addressed.
The flat screen tv The rugs
Older facility but maintained Located on main road for easy access Large rooms Comfortable beds Modest breakfast that has fresh fruit Bathroom and decor a bit dated No shampoo provided (bring your own)
Was almost in the downtown area which was a good deal for us. Good over deal on a budget plan.
The pool looked clean and it has a rustic look. The majority of guests seem to be alcoholics and addicts. The parking lot was littered with syringe caps and the others guests appear to be homeless. Management does nothing to quell all night partying and excessive noise. Both rooms had fleas and we were all bitten in our sleep many times leaving large itchy welts. The air conditioning only worked on high in both rooms, and in the middle of the night you could see your breath. The smoke detector in one room had been removed and was laying on a shelf in the closet area. The free wifi did not work most of the time. If you could get it to connect it would only last a minute or so before it became so slow you couldn't even check your email. This property has not been updated at all in the last 20 years by our estimation. The carpet in the room was frayed and heavily stained. The blankets on the beds did not match from bed to bed and had the trim torn loose and hanging off. Upon arrival we noticed that the bathroom window was slightly opened. We opened it to look outside and found there were several box type bee hives directly below the window. We quickly closed it and miraculously got it to lock shut (the mechanism was broken), but not before several bees had made it into the room. This place is like something out of a horror movie. You only get one metal key per room. Overall I would rate this as possibly the worst motel I've ever stayed at.
Price, location, friendly staff. Shower was not hot, on the margin of not warm enough. Location was good except for nearby loud traffic.
Charming. The 93 yo owner has been running the place for other years. After I mentioned where we were from, he remembered us from a year ago. There's real KEYS made of metal, not a card to swipe. Nothing fancy. Rooms were large. Some rooms have a nice view - the entire front wall is windows. (up on the hill, facing downhill) Very basic. Dated. There are 2 very different types of rooms (older & newer). No elevators, but all rooms are technically accessible. Minimal breakfast.
The location was good, convenient to downtown and the mountains. The owner, the front office staff and the guard were very friendly; the breakfast was good, with good choice of fresh fruits, breads, donuts, fresh orange juice. The back rooms are quiet and large, good for a family of four. The Inn is itself slightly removed from the road, creating a nice space. We did not use the pool, but it looked inviting. The room service, however, was unsatisfactory (once they did not even show up), and the room itself was not really clean when we arrived. Especially the shelf on top of the clothes rack was extremely dirty. We were told they are looking into improving this aspect of the Mountaineer Inn, and I sure hope they will because, otherwise, we would have had a fully satisfactory experience
I enjoyed talking to the 92 year old man that checked me in. I suggest they get new blankets and pillows. The mattress was a little lumpy too.
Cheapest hotel in the area Still not a great value. Rooms were severely outdated and dirty. My TV had no way to change the channel. The comforter had cigarette burns. 2 light bulbs were out. The bathroom didn't have any soap or shampoo. The staff constantly bickered with each other making you feel uncomfortable. Overall it's the cheapest hotel in the area but still not worth the price. Go ahead and pay a little extra for one of the major name brand hotels in the area...
Deep pool, quaint rooms, family owned, beds comfy, old fashioned. Security chain missing off door, kayak is $30 more than calling the hotel and booking. Kayak also never sent the reservation and I almost didn't get a room.
nosy, no frills bare room. clean
Very clean and comfortable, you get a nice mini fridge, microwave, and TV in your room! The bed was comfy, the staff was nice, the breakfast was good. Not a lot immediately around the Inn, but with a car that's no big deal given the great price.
actially the hotel was fine but stuff in the reception were really unfriendly and refused to help us!
We didn't even stay here. When we pulled up we immediately canceled and booked somewhere else. It looked very shady and the clientele was questionable. Just from looking at it, I would book somewhere else.
Nothing at all. The staff was rude, short, and very unhelpful. They cancelled my reservation because I was "a local." They also still charged my card. I will never attempt to stay there again and I will actively encourage people to avoid this hotel.
Had bites that resembled bed bugs.
Great location Very friendly staff clean room right next to a gas station Pool area was a bit messy walls are fairly thin (can hear a lot in the rooms next door)
Everything was fine, better than expected. Upgraded wood-like floors give it a contemporary feel. Good enough for a quick stay overnight, could've been a little less costly though. It was a nonsmoking room, but still had a slight odor upon first entering.
Ran out of breakfast food
Nothing The street men and women that used the motel for sex business
Location Price Pool not open No available ice Could be cleaner
Cheap with good access to the highway and not far from downtown. Cheapest rates around. No refrigerator, have to pay for wi-fi, no hair dryer, no shampoo just bar soap, towels threadbare, right next to train tracks.
No frills motor lodge. It's a bit dated, and doesn't have any fancy amenities, but it's clean and comfortable. We had no issues with it.
The price was good for Memorial Day weekend. The exterior looks painfully scary. we almost considered this a sunk cost and went to a holiday inn. The inside was okay but one wall was all windows, which is incredibly unsafe. I'm so glad we only stayed 1 night.
The upgrades they have done are awesome! Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful!
The beds were comfy and you could tell they have done a lot to make what was probably a pretty crappy old motel look fun and modern. It seemed clean and the process for checking in and out was easy. It was a decent find for a last minute trip. The room smelled a bit of smoke, the lighting in the room was terrible and the wifi only worked if we were right by the window. The motel is right next to the Interstate 40 - the noise was not bad at all in the room, but it certainly wasn't scenic!
The location was fine except they don't tell you that you are literally right off the highway. I heard a lot of sirens and a really loud train. The motel seemed updated until you opened the door to the bathroom. The toilet appeared to be 50 years old along with the shower. Like others have said the sink doesn't drain for a good 20 minutes so that can be gross. The TV had a weird static noise coming out of it for a few hours and then seemed to resolve itself.
Rooms were poor quality, outdated, and dirty. We knew going into it it was no luxury spot but we were just going to be in and out of town for a wedding but this was worse than we expected. First off, the innkeeper was SO unhelpful and rude. Somehow our reservation was duplicated and he refused to work with us on it or give us any refund and said to deal with Kayak and could not have been more unpleasant through that scenario. We called Kayak who said they'd refund half of the second reservation and also made it a point to say the innkeeper was irate to even do that much. (The parking lot was empty, mind you) We signed the 'receipt' for the 'refund' and shocker, it never showed up in our account. Shower was dirty, lighting was nonexistent, bed was uncomfortable. Definitely go elsewhere.
The location was good I reserved a price and was overcharged by 50$ when I got there. The room had a strong cigarette odor. There was a bug in the room. The soap was substandard. It says coffee included but they don't say they give you one packet of sweetener despite us paying for 3 people. Also two small towels which barely dry. Management literally screamed at me when checking in when I asked why we were being overcharged; and gave me dirty looks the whole time. Nice location but management needs and overhaul.
This is an old, 'mom & pop' type hotel. The entire property was very clean and well maintained. Air conditioning was powerful and cooled quickly. Staff was extremely competent and responsive to our needs. Good location, reasonable price. Room was small.
The cleaning lady on asunday was helpful. This was one of the worst stays I've ever had! 1. We had to beg for towels and pillow cases. 2. They was a balcony, but couldnt use it because of an overwhelming smell of gas, projected directly to our room. 3. The bathtub leaked all night, sink fau
It was the only hotel in the area. I had low expectations, and was happily surprised with room. I thought it was a little pricey for a 2 star hotel, but it must be it's proximity to the park.
The rooms were updated and well decorated and very clean. Several things from rude staff to internet access problems to coffee supplies. I did email America's Best corporate in an attempt to address my concerns. They responded saying the hotel had to respond, and no one did. Essentially I was ignored.
quiet cobwebs, splits in wallpaper, creaky bed.
ROOM WAS CLEAN AND CONVENIENT FOR US NO FRESH COFFEE OR BREAKFAST SERVED ON TUESDAY. PROBABLY BECAUSE MOST ROOMS WERE EMPTY. WEEKEND WAS FULL.
Clean comfortable friendly!! Would choose again
The price was okay and it was clean.
quiet, comfortable breakfast could have had a little more variety
Managers were nice, I appreciated that. The room reeked of smoke and I found some bugs... showered with shower shoes, spent as little time in the room as possible. Some damages; I locked all my doors, the bedspread looked dirty. I guess it's what you would expect for the price
