10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great base camp for exploring the Malaga-Granada area. The peaceful setting was a pleasant change from the fast paced costa del sol. The patriarch of the family run business, Antonio, treats his customers like family! Nothing is too much to ask. The food in the al-fresco restaurant was excellent, and at bargain prices. A bottle of wine with dinner only adds 8 or 9 Euro!
Cons: Liked everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The staff were wonderful and friendly and their dog was very sweet. Really relaxed atmosphere with a gorgeous interior and STUNNING views of the mountains. A coffee on our balcony in the morning was a highlight. Staff were so accommodating, allowing us to bring our drinks to our room and packaged the rest of our dinner up for us to take away. I wish we could have stayed here longer - absolutely perfect place in every way. Food was also amazing - beautiful, homecooked and wholesome. Best croquettes I had in Spain and we ate a lot of croquettes! We also took a visit to the Vinuela Reservoir (picture attached) which was phenomenal.
Cons: Nothing. The definition of perfect.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Family operated in located Hostel in a country setting. Perfect location to take a break from the hectic, busy, crowded tourist towns. Access to Malaga and Granada an easy drive via good roads. Our balcony faced olive orchards and the mountains. Delicious food, is served by warm friendly and helpful staff! The rooms are large, very clean and bright! We extended our stay, not wanting to leave this co for table and friendly hostel. Good value
Cons: Nothing at all
8.0 Excellent

Cons: Very loud - could hear the neighbor snoring. Much noise from the water supply. Small dubble bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was delicious. The location was perfect for us, close enough to Malaga airport and near to motorways.
Cons: nothing

7.0 Good
Pros: Staff friendly, place clean.
Cons: Advertised as having a dinning room when this was not in service, so no food. Had to move out of first room due to plumbing problem. Second room nicer, but only a dribble of water out of the shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here while walking the Andalucian's right on the route. Milo could not have been more welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Really great hot shower. And the venta next door was excellent for breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good for an overnight stay.
Cons: Top floor room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is very friendly and does everything they can to make your stay great. Lovely rural hotel with good food. Great location for hiking.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The views from our room and roof top were amazing. The food is very good, and the chef, Belén, is very accommodating, she delighted in making veggie meals for my girlfriend, which I had more than once. Milo, the owner, is an excellent host and treats you like a friend. The vibe of this place is friendly and chilled.
Cons: Nothing to dislike
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: There was no staff on the premises during the night or even in the mornings. Most days staff were only around from noon until 9:00 pm. At times only guests were in the hotel with no staff on premises which from a security and/or facility point of view was inadequate to say the least. One evening there was an issue and I called the phone number that was given but no one answered so the issue, lack of hot water, was not addressed until the next day. Also, the food was not very good the few times we ate there and the beds were quite uncomfortable. In the information sheet given upon entry to the hotel, it was indicated that "breakfast was from 8:30 - 10" however staff didn't show up every day at that time so usually we had to go out for breakfast. Some days someone was there by 9:00 am and sometimes no one showed up until noon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet rural hotel however situated in a great position for visiting all the main areas of Southern Spain. The hotel room was big, very clean and with comfortable beds and plenty of hot water. Food was both fantastic and of great quality The host was wonderful and welcoming and was able to provide us lots of information on the local area. Will definitely book again next time we are back.
Cons: Nothing. It was all great.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host was knowledgeable & great company. The property was very interesting, comfortable & clean.
Cons: No complaints
Los Barrancos - Colmenar - Building
9.6 Excellent (13 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great stay with Ronald who as everyone else verifies, is a great host that not only runs his well designed property efficiently, but is great to chat to and learn about the area. It's off the beaten track so a car is essential and makes for a good base to explore the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ronald our host was excellent, couldn't do enough for you.
Cons: Nothing. Great views from outside dining and pool area
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great stay at Los Barrancos, and Ron was an amazing host. The setting is great with views out across the mountains, with the Sierra Nevada in the distant. We didn't get a chance to try the pool, but then it was February and cold at night! The town of Colmenar is a nice little place with some very cheap drinks and tapas on offer. And there is also a bus service to Malaga if you don't fancy driving. Thanks Ron and hasta luego!

Los Gallos - Casabermeja
8.5 Excellent (121 reviews)

Surrounded by peaceful fields and mountains, 15 minutes north of Málaga, Los Gallos is a charming guest house with free Wi-Fi in every room. Make yourself at home in Los Gallos's elegant, well-decorated rooms, with air conditioning and heating. You can gaze out at the surrounding countryside from your private balcony, or have a relaxing soak in the hot tub. Take the short drive down to Málaga, where you will find the Picasso Museum, the famous Alcazaba Palace, and excellent beaches. Plan your trip beforehand using the free Wi-Fi in your room, and keep packed lunches cool in the in-room fridge. The 24-hour front desk gives you complete freedom to come and go. You can enjoy strolling in the fields around Los Gallos, and head to a nearby restaurant or bar at night.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely country house, surrounded by olive trees. Characterful room with a large window looking Westward, generally very comfortable. Quiet. Lots of seating outside, with a wide variety of wandering animals - half a dozen dogs, many chickens, sheep - all adding to the rural ambience. Very friendly owners. Plenty of free parking on site. Very good value for money. Well signed from the main road. Access via a gravel/dirt road but no problem for a regular car.
Cons: Yet another room that lists "patio" or "balcony" in the room facilities but doesn't have one. I think that was the third this trip. Not sure if this is a problem with the descriptions given by the proprietors or some algorithm at but its annoying. In this case there was outside seating close to the room but that doesn't really constitute a specific room facility, more a general feature of the hotel.
5.8 Okay
Cons: kill and no atmosfeer
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Simple, but very clean
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There is internet at the hostal; close to Malaga airport and the spectacular park Torcal de Antequera..
5.7 Okay
Pros: The price is right. There is a very good seafood restaurant at the end of the street.
Cons: Difficult to find without gps.
7.3 Good
Pros: Since location was difficult to find in the middle of then night the owner himself came to get us from the main street. Very clean and almost new and completely peaceful.
Cons: GPS to find location is useful. A sign indicationg the diretion to the hotel next to the road would also help.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very clean, very nice staff, good size room. Very cheap. Close to the El Torcal national park which was where we were headed so ideal for our purposes. Very quiet
Cons: It's in a very small village with a decent local restaurant and pizzaria. There is nothing to do there and you need your own car. As long as you're aware of this then it's all fine. We were given a triple room instead of a double and the beds were quite short (6foot). However as we had a spare bed, we just added this to the end to make a super long king size. The bath is an incredibly short thing with a stepped seat. more of a large shower tray than anything else (think ski resort) but fine for the price bracket and the shower was decent.
7.7 Good
Pros: very clean, very nice service, room v tidy, high standart for the price, only 12 min drive from malaga, looks much better inside than it appears from outside.
6.7 Good
Pros: Located in a small village "on the way" to Granada if you arrive late in Malaga, as we did. Only one * but nice and clean. Aircondition even it did not say so in the info. Good value for money! One restaurant + one pizzeria in the area. No food in the hotel.
6.4 Good
Pros: The village was very picturesque and typically Spanish.
Cons: Very noisy neighbours - didn't sleep much, although this was not the hotels fault.

Pros: Owner allowed me to leave motorcycle in gated compound. Very close to main routes. Value for money. Staff friendly and accommodating! Lovely village about 4 km up the road, ideal for supermarket, beer etc. Air con worked ok. shower is small but does the job
Cons: Restaurant could have been open at night, but there was one 300 meters down the road. My room did not have a balcony. Okay for one night stop over, however in the main season with more guests and restaurant open the place would be very pleasing.

Cons: - location was not very good if you want to visit Malaga

7.0 Good
Pros: the Hotel was easy to find. The location was very good for Malaga airport and the village nearby had a selection of restaurants and bars.
Cons: Staff on reception were not particularly friendly or helpful. (may have been partly due to language barrier). The room itself was clean but the carpet in the corridor is very dirty, gives the wrong impression.

Cons: In every hotel we went in Andalucia they only gave us one long pillow to share!! And most of them were hard, so my neck hurts...
8.8 Excellent
