10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sonia and her kindness and hospitality were high above the standard. Grazie mille!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: “EXCEPTIONAL” Brilliant place to stay, great location and beautiful surroundings! Sonia gave us such a warm welcome and made sure to tell us all the hot spots to visit and the best places to eat nearby. Both the room and kitchen area were incredibly clean and the bed was the most comfortable I've stayed in! Will definitely be back and I'd recommend this place to everyone. Thank you. Suite San Michele.
Cons: Anything
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner welcomed us personally and told us all about the history of the bnb and what to see and do. She picked up that we like walking and in detail showed us on her computer map where to find a scenic walk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very welcoming and nice, they helped us with every little request and question. The room was very beautiful and cosy, and the spa was a great way to relax and end our vacation in the best way
Cons: There is a near free parking but right next to it there is a nonfree one, I would recommend to add a map for the gusts to know where they can park.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hosts were outstanding. On last day, host's father drove us to the train station only to find out the train would be delayed 1 - 2 hours. He then drove us about 12 miles to the next train station so we could board the train in time to get to Florence to get our flight home. Just can't say enough about their hospitality!
Cons: Just be prepared to walk up hill. I'm convinced the whole country of Italy is built on a hill!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The hosts were very nice. They were very helpful. The place was clean. We didn't have any problem with checking in earlier and checking out later. The place is in the center of the town. The breakfast was delicious
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was a once in a life time experience. Has anyone ever stayed in a B&B that is 1000+ years old. Sonia did an amazing job refurbishing this very ancient Etruscan property. She was an amazing host. She told the history of the town and the Etruscan people as well as providing information on anything we wanted to know about places to go , etc.
Cons: Location within the old village was a little hard to find but once you’ve located the property everything else is easy.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The B&B is perfectly located, the host Sonia was very helpful, explaining everything about the region and house itself. When arriving, we called her and she came very fast, so check-in was flawless. What we enjoyed the most were breakfasts comprising of local fruits, fresh pastry and many other options.
Cons: When there were other guests staying in the neighbouring room, it got a bit noisy since we could hear almost everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a very cute place tucked into a cute village in the heart of Tuscany. The B&B was the owners old apartment that they have retrofitted/remodeled into a comfortable and cozy B&B. It is small, but that made it quant and charming. The host was very friendly and helpful. We had booked the place a few weeks before so had forgotten what it was all about, so it was a nice surprise to arrive and find it to be so lovely. Great value for the money!
Cons: The only negative for us was finding the place. We were driving a rental car and followed the Google Maps directions into very small streets that were not well marked and hard to follow. We eventually found the place but had to go in and out of the village a couple of times to do so. It would be great if there were step by step instructions on how to find the place on the B&B website (with pictures). This is NOT a reason not to book the B&B, but just more a word of caution if you are arriving by car. In fact, had we known we would have parked outside the city (where we ended up parking after unloading our luggage) and walked into the B&B. It is not that big of a village and walking with our luggage would have been easier than trying to find the place by car.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and accommodating staff. Great breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms have great bathrooms and seem to have been recently remodeled. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was good.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed and breakfast was very clean and the hosts were very friendly. They have done a wonderful job of updating this building to create this business.
Cons: The breakfast was a little underwhelming and there is an awkward glass wall between the bathroom and sleeping area in the rooms. There are some things (like using the WC) that I just don't need to see my husband do. The town, although very cute, didn't have as much going on compared to other towns in the area.
7.0 Good
Pros: The shower was very small but had excellent water pressure and several jets plus a rain shower. Very nice
Cons: The room was cold - the heat would come on but it did not stay warm for long. The breakfast was just okay and it would have been nice to have been given a little more information about the town when we checked in. It was almost impossible to find a place to eat as everything was booked up on the Saturday and most things on Friday. Not overly welcoming
5.0 Okay
Pros: Very cordial to wait long time for me to pick me up. Also drove me to train station. Very good breakfast.
Cons: Did not turn on heat, quite cold. But blankets provided.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice B&B in the center of the village. The owner was very nice and even provided us with a parking space in front of the B&B. Breakfast was okay with croissants, yoghurt and also cheese and salami. We only stayed one night but we would definitely come back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: lovely lovely B &B. Fredrico personally help us when we were lost trying to find the property. property is beautifully restored and extremely well maintained. We would definitely come back!

Pros: Setting. Hosts
Cons: ?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: THe owners Terry and Marcello are excellent hosts.. all the staff are excellent and it felt like home away from home... highly recommended. Prue and Jock..Australia
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staying at Casa Portagioia was like staying with family. The owners are the most hospitable, friendly people I've ever had the pleasure of staying with. They made the end of our wedding holiday relaxing and special. I can never thank them enough and would recommend them to my closest family and friends. I will certainly be back!
Cons: That we couldn't stay longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Miko was a wonderful host who made us feel at home. The feeling was unsurpassed hospitality to ensure our comfort and enjoyment! The grounds were immaculate, the gardens superb. The pool area, divine! The views... Simply stunning. We adored Miko's mothers soup. She is the soup queen! 3 soup dishes over our stay and still longing for more. Breakfast was delicious and generous. Fresh baked crossaints daily, juicy berries and fresh fruits and the scrambled eggs were unbeatable. Something I looked forward to every morning, and all served Alfresco, surrounded by roses and the rolling hills of Tuscany. The gorgeous pugs Pino (I think I got that right?) and the white pug Carla are so adorable...! They were mainly in their own area but were let out occasionally for a run around - mainly for our benefit! I can't share just how much Miko went above and beyond for us - it was the perfect location for a post-wedding party relax, where we were well looked after and could simply relax and wind down. We were also able to borrow their bikes to explore the village... The fields of red poppy flowers were particularly beautiful, which grow atop the vast hillsides. We rode to a nearby restaurant for dinner with great local cuisine. Try the sliced beef steak with Peppercorns and Rosemary and the homemade Pici (pasta) with speck and cheese fondue. If you're looking to escape the daily grind, Casa Portagioia is the perfect place to switch off, relax, enjoy the sounds of birds chirping and soak in the surrounds. Thank you to our wonderful hosts for making us feel truly at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Thank you!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Drop-dead beautiful, meticulously maintained gardens. The property sits up on a hill surrounded by olive orchards and a vineyard. An absolutely idyllic setting.
Cons: We loved EVERYTHING about it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic B&B in a beautiful location. The breakfast spread is incredible, with every kind of fruit imaginable, eggs made to order, and fresh squeezed orange juice among many other items. More than B&B, Terry and Marcello will provide lunch on request, or an evening platter of cold cuts and cheeses. Twice a week they throw a dinner party for the guests, with marvelous home cooked Tuscan specialities. They are also very helpful with places to see, reservations and such. A very romantic spot, we highly recommend a visit!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simply amazing! The facilities are wonderful and the guys who run the place are so friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Casa Portagioia is gorgeous! It’s rare that I’ve stayed somewhere with such attention to detail with thoughtfulness so evident everywhere. The photos online don’t entirely do it justice; gorgeous restored buildings set in a gently sloping valley, surrounded by flowers and trees, it was a peaceful refuge. Pool was fab, often had it entirely to ourselves with views out over valley. Great breakfast, and they make their own wine, honey and olive oil. Terry and Marcello are great, excellent combo of dry humour and friendly warmth. Natural hosts. Didn’t want to leave.

7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel staff was nice, the place and the view was nice.
Cons: We will never go back!! This is a nice hotel and the hotel staff was great, but the restaurant was the worst ever. We ordered four different courses during the evening and three different courses at lunch and most of them was uneatable. Besides that the staff in the restaurant made us very uncomfortable. The person who cooked the food (man with a mustache) came out and said hello to us, which we thought was nice. Later when we got the food he came back out, stand in a distance, stared at us and laughed at us as we ate.....
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was outstanding, the panorama view is beautiful, pool area very good and the restaurant is good.
Cons: the bed was not good for me. bit hard

Pros: Our host was warm, welcoming and very friendly. Gave us tip to amazing nearby restaurant. We had few great surprises waiting for us - free upgrade to bigger place with better view, bottle of local wine and home cooked cake! Location was super - good distances to drive to San Marino, Pisa and Rome as well as around Tuscany
Cons: Can’t think of anything
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: We had to pay 200euro more than said in booking because of cleaning warm heat and other and we did not even have warm water
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and quiet; loved the pool; and wonderful host.
Cons: A bit of a distance from things, but as long as you have a rental car, it’s no problem
7.5 Good
Pros: The host is very good. There are also enough facilities. We loved to have separate bedrooms. Beds were comfy and you have airco in the bedrooms. We had a very nice and quite patio to sit outside
Cons: Downstairs in the livingroom is was quite dark and not very inviting to spend time. I believe the room should be modernized as well as the kitchen. Changing the lights into a more 'cosy' yellow should and cleaning the lamps on the ceiling should help immediately.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing, so friendly and gave us great advice on where to visit. The views were stunning as was the pool, the room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, freshly made cakes, fruit, fresh coffee, eggs cooked to order if desired pasties and meats & cheeses. Fabulous location but a car is a must to get around and see the different small towns. Only regret is that we didn't go earlier, if we knew you could easily train it to Florence from the train station a short car ride away we would have gone there earlier!
Cons: n/a
10.0 Excellent

Cons: The road from the south was unpaved so use the access road from the North

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Borgo tra gli Olivi in Castiglion Fiorentino, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Tennis Club Castiglionese and Municipal Art Gallery. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved our stay at Borgo tra gli Olivi! Lucia was such a friendly and accommodating host, and she gave us a fantastic dinner recommendation in Cortona: the Michelin-rated Osteria del Teatro. The setting was gorgeous and peaceful. We only stayed here one night, but we envied another couple who had been there all week, using this spot as a home base for a week of exploring Tuscany and Umbria. Breakfast was delicious and filling, with all kinds of local products and homemade jams. The pool is a wonderful bonus, and it's kept very clean. We also bought some bottles of their olive oil to bring back to the US as gifts. We were one of two gay American couples staying here, and we all felt very welcome. We're telling all our friends to come here on their next trip to Italy—it's the perfect example of why it's worth renting a car to get off the beaten path. Truly a hidden gem.
Cons: The only criticism was that the bed was a bit too firm for our taste. Even so, we would come back here in a heartbeat!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Oh gosh! We’d loved everything! Lúcia it’s amazing! She’s wonderful. So kind and friendly. The rooms are spacious and confy. Everything was very clean. The property it’s amazing! They have good quality products as amenities. The breakfast it’s simple but the quality of the products are so good that we came from there just happy! We love everything. And also, Lúcia recomended us a restaurant nearby that is so good! The food where amazing!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Comfort and view
Cons: Very disappointing breakfast, at booking.com it was «superb» ,well we do not agree. Almost nothing to choose from, just as a continental breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: *EVERYTHING*!! :-) Very kind and cheerful hosts (thanks for excellent tourist tips!). Beautifully and authenthically decorated and highly functional rooms with first class bathrooms inside traditional old architecture. Impeccably clean and neat. Excellent breakfast of local groceries and products hand-made by the lady of the house. Excellent coffee (as always in Italy :-) ). We loved the home-made marmelades (yum! :-) ), and we absolutely adored their own olive oil, made of olives grown in the olive groves around the estate. The view! The smell of the air in the morning! WOW! ... :-) Thank you for a great Easter weekend! We will *surely* meet again! :-)
Cons: There was nothing that we didn't like. Maybe, if we stayed for a longer time, the choice of things to eat for breakfast might become a bit monotonous (however high the quality of groceries was). But we're just guessing. Maybe our hosts would offer more variety for guests who stay longer. Another thing - for us it was completely irrelevant, but if anyone finds it important, the TVs in rooms are really suprisingly small. Our kids thought that it wasn't a TV at all, but an "antique computer monitor". :-D

Le Santucce was built out of the ruins of a 13th century monastery by the owners, which makes it a very special place. We had a great view at the valley below which rivals those of nearby and overcrowded Cortona. We'll definitely return to spend a longer period here!

5.5 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff at the reception. Parking is easy. Not far from the gate to the old town. Rooms have been re-decorated not so long ago.
Cons: Airco is only working from 17h30. We arrived at 15h and I wanted to rest in our room. That was not possible - too hot. So, let's go and sleep by the pool. Also : not possible - no umbrellas! I can not use a pool at 32 degrees and be in the sun all the time. Dangerous inflamable & corrosive products are standing in a hallway...next to an ashtray. Dangerous! Fitness : no airco. Plastic roof and soooo hot! No airco here. I love to work out in the gym, but it was not possible. I don't know how this hotel got the 4 star rating. That is a mistery to me. When we were there 3 tourbusses arrived in the evening and left early in the morning. It's perfect if you just need a bed and no airco :-)

Pros: Hotel was very clean and silent, with great view out of the windows. In the hotel run also the restaurant, where you'll find typical regional food and wine. I highly recommend this place if you search for good, tasty cuisine and wine in Tuscany. Tip: If you'd rent a car, then you can drive to all Val d'Orcia region and see all the tremendous landscapes shown often on Tuscany's postcards and shutterstock pictures.
Cons: I had the impression that the hotel staff was surprised and not prepared that we booked there room for few nights and arrived. Also there are not so many breakfast options for vegetarians (only pizza or some sweet cornetto - if you're vege and you'll stay for more than two days, that will annoy you)

Pros: Fine quiet location, very clean and spacey enough rooms, restaurant at place with superb meal.
Cons: Restaurant staff could be more polite. Breakfast was just a baguette to the hand and coffee.
