Owner was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant downstairs was great and the mint tea and tangines excellent. Located right behind CTM bus station and 15 min walk to medina but owner will give you a free ride if he is available. Also the family room that we stayed in was decorated very nice and has great facilities incl washing machine.
this family run place is more like an apartment than a hotel, with separate lounge, kitchen and bedroom. You have views over the valley, it's right next to the bus station and while not within the medina, makes for a very nice spacious break from smaller rooms for the same price.
Beautiful hotel! Great atmosphere and good location. We enjoyed staying in this Blue hotel, it was very romantic!
swiming pool area. Nice interior great stuff room should be bigger but its nice anywa,
Dar Echchaouen is more hotel/resort style rather than the typical riads in Morocco. After staying in a few we enjoyed the hotel feel. Although I only booked a double room, the staff were lovely enough to offer us a suite instead. We thoroughly enjoyed the extra space in the suite. We didn't use the pool but it looked lovely - a rare find in Chefchaouen. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend Dar Echchaouen for families, the pool and grounds provide a nice place for kids. Dar Echchaouen is situated outside the medina, it's very close to the medina but about a 15min walk through the medina to the main square were all the restaurants are located. During the day is fine but the medina isn't well lit at night making trips out for dinner a bit difficult. Dinner at restaurant is similar quality to the restaurants inside the medina but quite a bit more expensive. The decor in the room is quite dated but still clean.
Everything is great !!! Happy that I took my family to that lovely hotel and city The value of money...... Too expensive comparing to others luxury hotels ..:(
Large room nicely decorated, easy to find as it's located outside medina The staff is less friendly than in other riads we've been in Morroco, never asked if the food was good, we slept well etc., talk to mobile while showing us the room, we felt little bit like in big chain hotel with 500 rooms and less interest in taking best care of guests. Food was OK but far behind what you can get in Morroco (e.g. what they served as tagin was surely not made in tagin).
Staff were very helpful. The bar/foyer area was cool and the view of Chaouen was ideal. Service was excellent and we didn't feel like we had to tip the staff for every thing we asked for, which can be the case in Morocco in general. The location was not good, it just seemed like a bit too much hassle to get to the main part of town - even though this generally only meant getting a taxi for 2 or 3 euros, and the taxis were quite frequent, I just preferred staying closer to the main square in the centre of town.
Nice view over the Medina Run-down, dirty, poorly maintained, out-date hotel. Miniscule balcony. Terrible broken furniture in the rooms. The reception and foyer were smoking areas. The pictures are very deceiving! The breakfast service was terrible and the breafast was worse-stale, small criossants, stale toast. The pool always had local children swimming in it who like to have a good look at the women in bikinis. We constantly had problems getting into our room with the swipe card.
very nice view on the city long distanc from the city, no frendly staff, very poor breakfest
The setting was spectacular set on the side of a mountain high above the town. The menu was uninspiring. Breakfast was average.
The room had an amazing view! Our bedroom was plain, but clean. We had a tv and a hot shower. The breakfast could have done with more variety, and was mostly sugar, but is what I've come to expect from hotel breakfasts in Europe. Wifi in the common areas downstairs worked well. We had a discounted rate from the internet, I don't think it would have been good value for money if we'd paid the rate listed in the lobby. I think this hotel is a bit better than many of the reviews I've read. It was quite a hike down to the town, but that's what you get if you want the good views...and taxis back up the mountain were cheap and easy. When we first got in the power in our room was out, and it took them an hour and a half to put it back on. The walls were very thin, and we could hear everything our neighbours did.
The food was excellent The lack of air conditioning made things a little uncomfortable - but it was definitely bearable
The hotel is close to all the attractions, and the narrow streets in this very old city, also the eateries. The show was smaller than small, and the hot water came and went, using a hand shower in a very small space was difficult.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. There were many problems when we were there, such as power outages and water in the hotel, due to a severe storm but they all did what they could to make us very comfortable during it. No.
We stayed just for one night in this lovely hotel. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast is served in a room from where you have a very nice view. Staff is very friendly and helpful, (and Bouchra, you're a good arabic teacher and a adorable person!) Shoukran bezzaf, we really enjoyed our stay!
