Restaurant waitress Laura. Extremely pleasant and professional. The kitchen did a good job. The size of the room. The bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths. They should have been discarded 2 years ago. The worst I have seen. Was told by the guest service agent at check out that they just renovated the rooms. It was not in the budget. Dust on the night table. The GM is not doing his job.
The decor, the staff, and the chef. Best food I've ever had at an American hotel.
I thought the location of the hotel was excellent. The restraint in the hotel was so good that we didn't eat anywhere else during our trip. We loved it here and will come back in the future.
I made a mistake on my reservation and accidentally booked for one week later than I had intended to be in town. Valley River Inn said "no problem" and they changed my reservation to that be night instead of the date one week out. I know that if they were booked solid they wouldn't be able to accommodate me but the front desk staff acted like it was not a big deal and that people make those mistakes all the time. I really appreciated the "customers always right" approach they took. pool and hot tub close at 10pm (which is fair considering many rooms look out to the pool and it wouldn't be nice to have loud noise coming from the pool area when you're trying to sleep.)
Great hotel service staff, very friendly and accomadating! Clean rooms. Comfy bed & pillows. Beautiful scenery by the river. Love the smell of cinnamon pine cones in the hallway. Enjoyed the pancake breakfast in the restaurant. Hotel was quiet & pleasant. Can't beat the location--walking distance to food & shopping. Great stay especially for price. I personally love a mini fridge in hotel rooms and would have preferred it if the rooms had one. Also service in restaurant, although friendly was very slow and there was hardly any diners. Plug in on lamp didn't work & I didn't realize it so i awoke to a dead cell phone instead of a fully charged one. Like most hotels, there is a lack of convenient electrical outlets for charging devices. still Enoyed stay and would stay again.
Room service food was excellent. We shared the steak dinner and a Cobb salad. The beef was terrific as was the salad. Even though the hotel is about 45 years old, the room was newly renovated. The furnishings and decorations were very nice. Our only complaint was the bed was harder than is comfortable for us. Other than that, great stay.
Sitting by and swimming in the pool was wonderful! And our meals on the deck by the river were excellent!
This is one of the older luxury hotels that has been wonderfully maintained. Spacious and beautiful with all the amenities you could want. Gracious staff and the restaurant and lounge were perfect!
Everything was great and my weekend there made going back to the real world a little better :) That I couldn't stay longer
If you buy a room on an online site the Valley River Inn takes away all amenities. No breakfast, etc.. Also when the staff see's your online rate their attitude completely changes to the negative. Restaurants food was very poor and very expensive.
Vintage 60"s architecture, condition of facilities and cleanliness, riverside food and bar service, friendly and efficient staff.
Conveniently located on river walk and next to mall. Room was outdated for the premier hotel in Eugene

Staff and breakfast staff, prepared excellent breakfast.Bathroom was very clean, spotless.Room was clean except they might have done better job vacuuming crumbs from floor and cleaned a few stains on carpet and chairs.Overall it was good experience

Good size, clean, usual breakfast butit was kept hot anf 'fresh' We have no complaints except that I'd try to get a room farther from the pool area. You could hear people, especially kids, having a good time until 10pm.
Clean roomFriendly staff Needs more gluten free breakfast choices
Very clean, comfortable bed and linens.
The room was very clean and stocked with everything I needed...blow dryer, refrigerator, coffee maker, extra soap and shampoo and plenty of soft, absorbent towels. The location was perfect for me, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The staff was helpful and polite. The internet was fast and free. I would definitely stay here again. There was no way to darken the room. There was only a light transparent curtain so no way to block out the street lights at night. Free breakfast would have been nice...
I loved that this hotel was right off the freeway, access to many restaurants in walking distance, friendly staff, and the rooms were clean. We were also traveling with our dogs and they had a little treat for them on arrival and they had a pet area for them as well. There really wasn't anything we didn't like ... our experience was a positive one.
We have been coming to Eugene for the last two years because our son goes to school there. This is the first time we stayed at the Inn and loved it. We met the owner Brian in the elevator and he graciously welcomed us and made us feel at home. Everyone who worked there was truly welcoming and struck up a conversation with us. The rooms were spotless. Very highly recommended.
Staff were very accommodating. Allowed for very early check in and we used their complimentary car service multiple times. Would definitely come back. Nothing.
Loved everything about this hotel. The room was very large with a sitting area dining area and a very large bathroom with double sinks! The room also had a working fire place and a very comfortable bed! The room was exceptionally clean and we didn't want to leave. The feel of the hotel is luxurious as soon as you walk in the lobby. The outside does not do the hotel justice. Absolutely worth the value. There seemed to be a train beat by and we could hear the horn several times during the night.
The friendly staff gave us an upgrade to a corner room and it was very spacious. The bed was wonderful and the coffee in the room was better than what they served in the restaurant!! Nice fridge and coffee pot in the room. The updates were all nice too! When I booked online, they didn't state the extra charges. Parking - $17 per night, Pet fee - $50 and the restaurant food was spendy too! If I had been aware of these fees, I would have been able to compare rates better with other hotels. Other than that, I would have given this place a 5.
The staff were great and gave me some very helpful advice. The restuarant on site was very nice and the steak they served was amazing. The TV in the room was very large. The bed wasnt very firm
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, tidy and clean, upgraded finishes, nice place. The trains....
It is located at almost the center of downtown and you can simply walk to almost anything. The standard king size room I was given was nice and clean as well. I am fine with almost everything except with how Hilton and the staff handled my situation with the room. I originally booked the King Executive Jr suite. However, when I got there, they said there was a problem with the toilet in the room that they sold it to me. As a result, I was only given the choice of a double queen room or a standard King size room. I asked about other King exec suites but they said they cannot change to others. I then asked about the big price difference between the available rooms and if I can be compensated or refunded in anyway. They said they can't refund and they simply gave me a coupon (worth 35 dollars total for 2 people) for breakfast and free parking that is worth like 20 dollars. I was then put into a stand King room. Totally a joke. Super disappointed on how they dealt with my situation.
Location Stinky hall,no shower curtain,TP holder improperly installed, uninformed staff
I asked front desk for aid in getting the television to work, and she was less than helpful. I had to reprogram the TV myself to get reception - via the buttons on the TV. The remote had been disabled for programming. Tremendous inconvenience to have to spend 20+ minutes to make the TV work...
The hotel is in need of a major renovation. There were noticeable maintenance issues and the overall condition was lacking even for a budget hotel.
The easy check in and check out and being able to have my pet be with me Not enough towels, got to hot at night, not enough pillows
pool, smoking rooms, oversize parking lot, delicious and affordable restaurant/bar steps from the motel, no ice machine(that we could find) no coffee pot in room
The room was a decent size. The bed was comfortable. Elmer's restaurant is connected. The hallway carpet was very dirty. No elevator. The lobby feels like a warehouse. The bathroom sink was chipped. The room was clean but felt a little shabby.
Decent sized room I guess They double charged me for my three day stay and messed up my bank account. Thank god I used a card thru paypal so it was easily reversed or else I'd have been screwed
They had a vacancy, that's it! Elmer's was okay next door. The reception area was disorganized with a door open behind the desk that was full of clutter. The receptionist worked from a scribbled list of rooms and had to ask another what it said on the list about my room ... The couches in the hall entry had large patched holes in them and the windows on the door were filthy. Inside the poorly lit room I found the drawers in the tables next to the bed to be full of hair, gum, food and dirt. I slept on top of the sheets in my clothes because I just didn't trust the area to be clean enough. The refrigerator was dirty on the lower part of the front door and the freezer door inside was broken. The TV picture was blurry on most channels and in a town so close to University of Oregon, they didn't even get the PAC 12 channel! The bed had broken springs and after that I didn't trust the cleanliness enough to partake in their continental breakfast. I ate at Elmer's next door. This was the only room I could get this weekend because so many events were taking place at U of O. Next time I'll stay elsewhere or drive back and forth from Gresham!!
Nothing Very dirty and smelly. The place is ran by a very seedy manager. I plan on complaining to their corporate about how bad it reflects on the entire chain. I confirmed my reservation when I checked in, then got a call at 11:30 pm saying there was none and was charged the full price. When I talked to the meth head looking manager he told me my email confirmations meant nothing and I should call the booking site. DON'T BOOK HERE.
Easy access to both Springfield and Eugene, close to multiple restaurants or if you didn't have energy to go out there's a really good restaurant and a lounge right there. Quite, comfortable rooms. Kept missing the house cleaning staff, so we had to collect clean towels from the office.
The room was fine--the beds were comfortable, and everything was clean. I thought there'd be a fridge (there wasn't, and I could've used one), but I looked at a bunch of places so maybe I'm thinking of somewhere else. And the location worked out really well for what I needed to do (despite being, in general, a horrible off-ramp hell of every terrible chain restaurant you've ever heard of). The people at the desk don't seem to have any idea what they're doing. While we were checking in, two employees were discussing a recent incident where a guest had checked into a reserved room and found someone else's luggage there. Then they wouldn't give me a print-out that included the amount they charged me--I actually still don't know the cost! Which makes me pretty nervous, given that they have all my credit card info. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on my statement. Also, people were making a LOT of noise in the halls late at night. I don't know if it's fair to blame that on hotel staff, but they don't seem to have made any effort to stop it.
Good location. Staff was friendly and courteous. Good restaurants nearby. Price was cheap and the neighbors were quiet. The wifi was better than a lot of places, but could still be improved upon. Good tv. The building and room were well worn. They do seem to be working on the place, but it is never going to be a good looking, squeaky clean destination. The toilet in the room flushed automatically every few minutes and the room and the building didn't smell fresh - not really offensive, but it smelled old and well used.
nothing. there is absolutely nothing to like about this property, unless your sole purpose for staying here is saving money everything. there were sketchy people passed out in the hallways. sketchy people just hanging out in the parking lot listening to music and smoking. the hotel employees were more interested in gossiping with each other than helping me. everything looks greasy, grimy, & at least 50 years old. the beds were like slabs of cement
The room had a nice bed and a decent kitchen area. There was black mold that covered about 1/3 of the ceiling over the shower (so I'm not even sure it was legal for them to rent out the room) and there was trash around the nightstand.
The hotel cancelled my reservation after I was already in town and suggested I could get a room in a town over an hour away. Not acceptable!
Good location and friendly staff. I left something in my room after check-out, they were able to find it and hold it for me to pick-up a few days later when I came back through the area. That was excellent service!
The bed was very comfortable. We had a better night's sleep than we have in a very long time. There were notes written from the previous guest on the notepad, there was used soap and shampoo in the shower, and there was old food in the refrigerator.
The hotel room is large and roomy. Bathroom is big and clean. love the free movie option. Location is a little remote, but not a big deal if you have a car.
Not too much to like here Be careful when booking this hotel with the intention of bringing your pet. First they charge you an additional $10/night in order to get a "pet friendly" room, then when you get there they charge you an additional $20/night for actually bringing your pet. So in essence, there is a $30/night fee for pets which is much higher than other hotels in the area. Not to mention the rooms are musty smelling and in spite of their claim that the hotel was recently renovated, the rooms are far from the nicest in town. Do yourself a favor and choose one of the newer hotels in the Gateway area of town, you'll be glad you did!
We liked the pool. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was professional. They advertised a free shuttle to the airport but didn't have it available till later then our need of one at 4:15 am. We had to pay an extra $30 we had not anticipated. Taxi took long way to airport telling us it would be faster. It wasn't. Our choice of this hotel was made on having a shuttle available, so we were disappointed.
Loved how close it was to nearby bars and university. Make sure you stop by voodoo donut, well worth it. Staff was nice and professional and gave us good recommendations.
Very helpful staff. Alex at front desk was great. Loved the breakfast. Some faulty vending machines
Great staff, very helpful and hospitable, from front desk to breakfast staff to housekeepers. Great breakfast with lots of choices. Walls a bit thin - late groups being loud in the hallway.
Nice checkout time Friendly staff My car almost got towed because the staff neglected to give me a parking pass. Did not know one was needed so that would have been a huge bummer Was a bit pricey also Bummer that the jacuzzi jets were not working
Location was great and the bed was very comfortable. Wasn't very clean and small bathrooms
The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and it's a great location within walking distance of the University of Oregon campus. Couldn't really ask for more.
The staff were friendly, the room was super clean and well kept, the complimentary breakfast and shuttle service to and from the airport was a huge plus too.
It's location was great The room was cramped and the fridge did not work
I liked the cleanliness, the ambiance, the exquisite taste in decorating, the all wooden floors, and the great attitude of the desk personnel!!! A plus for this unnasuming motel in Eugene!!! It is a little gem in a sea of crappy motels! Thank-you Timbers!!! There was nothing at all that I didn't like! Excellent value for your money!!
The room was spacious. The name of the motel probably tells you but I wanted to emphasize that it's a very nice looking "wooodsy" motel decor. The exterior is made of painted cedar boards and a massive beam look;, the 2nd floor rooms have vaullted ceilings constructed of exposed beams holding an exposed and good-looking cedar board roof deck-ceiling. The floors are finished oak. The overall feeling is very nice. We had a king-sized bed, and it was comfortable, It advertises free breakfast -- which turns out to be a rather Spartan like affair, mostly a continental breakfast snack.
We stayed one night at the Timbers and it was just fine. It's an older motel but located very close to campus. The room was comfortable and clean.
A nice and clean place that was very nice for the price range. The shower never got "super hot".
the beds were very comfortable. the room more spacious than the pictures represented. excellent downtown location easily walkable to shops and restaurants. although very clean, the hotel could use a face lift. not a luxury hotel, but a good bargain for a last minute booking
The Timbers has a good location in downtown Eugene, parking, and a room that are nicer than you might expect. You would guess that it will be another cookie-cutter hotel room, but it actually had some character. We stayed on New Year's Eve, and there were some people partying directly above us that night. I don't fault the hotel much for this, but it was still annoying.
Love the idea of a motor lodge that gives five star service.
Love the wood floors loved the size of the room and great location Heater didn't work right breakfast is yuk
Beautifully renovated interior with mostly new furnishings and decor. Lock was not the safest on the door; it was the original lock and only locked partially on some settings. Free hbo channel. Could be $10-$20 cheaper for the location and size but for a just passing thru stay it was perfect. Location, door lock, price ( but it was far cheaper than the other liveable motel/hotel options). Watch billing- orbitz told me 1 night and the motel 3 nights- they fixed it but just double check to be safe!
We always stay at Campus Inn when we pass thru Eugene. This was at least our 4th time. Service is good, the rooms are clean (well, this time our room had an older bath and the shower/tub showed some age), there's a Continental breakfast, restaurants within walking distance, and now we've discovered the Ruth Bascom walking/biking path just three blocks away. And there's a Whole Foods being constructed a block away. We'll definitely stay again.
The whole place was nice and clean and very cute! The rooms were modern and the staff friendly. The location was near many restraunts and activities. Also, the location was an easy commute to the interstate making it easy to get around the local area as I traveled around daily. This place seemed to attract a younger and unfortunately a louder crowd. I experienced next door neighbors that were incredibly loud and carrying on into the early morning hours. Nobody wants to be kept awake all night or have to confront rowdy neighbors! Also the fitness center left something to be desired. It was outdated and tiny. It would be fairly unmaneuverable if there were more than 2 people in there.
We like the breakfast, and the people we're fairly nice until checkout time when a man pretends to listen to you check out while reading a paper. We also like the fact that it is across from Whole Foods. Didn't like leaf blowers at 9am.
The staff was very friendly and helpful Great location Did not get the sense of clean. The mattress was broken kept falling into the middle my back and neck hurt in the morning. Needs a total remodel.
We locked up our bikes. By morning someone had cut our chain and stole my husband 1,000 mountain bike. Will NEVER stay here again. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.
Hot tub was out of operation and appeared to have been that way for a while. The bath tub drain was clogged thus the water pooled up while taking a shower. Stains on carpet and chairs. Over all cheap feel to rooms.
Clean, simple, quiet, good location for what we needed. Just staying the night after an event at U of O, it was perfect.
Very convenient to downtown, once Whole Foods opens across the street, it will be even better!!!
I've stayed here on many occasions when visiting family and friends in Eugene and have always had a good stay. No frills for this little hotel, but it's clean, in a good area, the staff is friendly and they have breakfast. The water pressure in the showers is always low.
Location to the University Blow dryer broken and front desk didn't have a hand held one. Phone completely dead. Thin walls, need earplugs.
Price points are pretty good for long term stay, and they will work with you if you find a cheaper price online. Parking is one car per room, and that's no joke! Their parking lot is tiny and awkward if you drive a larger vehicle.
Staff was extremely friendly! Bed was clean and comfortable after I realized it was a adjustable bed. Haha. Room was very clean. Close to everything you could need. Wifi worked great. Loved the fact the lock up after 11, and you need Couldn't have asked for a better stay. My only thing I thought was odd was charging 10 for the hot breakfast. The rooms are not cheap so it would've been nice for the breakfast to be included. Just was surprising. Never stayed at a hotel that charged for breakfast before. But definitely not a deal breaker.
The room was nice and large and had enough space for two people to stay comfortably. Bed was comfortable. Air conditioner kept room cool. Continental breakfast was good. Coffee was good. Bed cover too heavy. Was almost no counter space at sink. Air conditioner rattled. Continental breakfast food barely warm. Very crowded dining area. Parking lot was too small for this hotel. I could not find a place to park after returning from dinner with my family.
Computer room Maintenance guy doing loud repairs in stairwell next to room before 9 am Sunday morning. I am a marine painter/blaster that works long hours multiple days of the week. I was looking for a late start to my day Sunday morning. Rude!
Breakfast was good. Found some long black hairs in bed& shower (not ours). Staff left dirty coffee cups & old coffee on counter.
We oiled hear loud neighbors lol night talking and banging furniture against our common wall. Walls didn't appear to be very sound proof.
Very friendly staff. Nice clean rooms. Great location by the park.
I like staying here but before I had a chance to shower the main water line broke...stuff happens.. Overall a nice hotel, just unlucky break!
It was clean and had an easy check in and out. The pool and hot tub were nice. The shower didn't work and would not get hot either.
The front desk staff was great! The facility was okay. Parking was pretty tight There was some dirty pillow cases on the bed. The ceiling over the shower was very moldy. Overall it was okay.
The desk staff was friendly and overall helpful Rooms are dark and smelly. Feels dirty. Tiny, scratchy towels with a bar of soap and cheap combo bottle of shampoo/conditioner. Parking lot overcrowded especially with uhauls and trucks. Fitness center was a treadmill and broken down combo equipment piece. Pool cloudy and smelly. Far overpriced for a "motel 6" place.
Luxurious bed. Clean. Nice shower. Good water pressure. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. I did not like constantly hearing the sound of water rushing through the pipes. It kept me up most of the night. When I checked out, the guest in front of me told the person behind the desk that he and his family hardly slept because of the sound of the water in the pipes. He suggested you insulate the walls.
Walking Distance to Stadium and University . Good location to get to running trails along the river. In general a clean hotel next to the University . Limited Parking within the hotel parking area. If you get back late you wont find a place to park and you will have to go to the overflow parking across the street. Access to the hotel is off a one way street and somewhat difficult to access if your going the wrong way. Toilet in the room was not working well and I had to get a plunger and plunge the toilet multiple times. Shower handle poorly installed and difficult to get it in the right position to turn on and then turn off. Water pressure was very limited. (My room was on the third floor).
everything was great do not have any complaints
This hotel is near a great pub, close to campus, easy to get to and very clean. It was a nice stay and tasty breakfast the next morning.
