Attention to detail in terms of furnishings and garden areas and the attentiveness of ALL the staff. The breakfast was exceptional as was the complimentary afternoon cheese and wine. A real delight!
Location was terrific with a great view from the room. Extremely comfortable bed. We really enjoyed the wine/cheese and the breakfast was excellent. Not really a complaint, but the bathroom area was fairly small but that was not unexpected and certainly not an issue.
The staff were friendly, the room was neat and clean. The location is ideal being next to the main street and close to the beach. The building has a sweetly quaint Victorian bed and breakfast feel to it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Great breakfast, excellent cookies and wine social hour, friendly and helpful staff, cozy rooms, convenient location.
Excellent location two blocks from beach, two blocks from restaurants. This is an old restored Victorian home and they have stuck to the theme throughout. Lots of flowered wallpaper and antique furniture. Beds are comfortable. TV. Nice gardens. Some of the staff were not as hospitable as I would expect in an inn.
The outstanding event at Centrella Inn was the breakfast----a lot of choice and beautifully cooked and presented---probably the best we had in 6 weeks of travel. The Inn was charming and well situated. Evening drinks and nibbles provided was also a very welcome touch. We liked it all
Big welcome from Honey, very homely with some excellent touches (glass of wine on arrival, home made cookies available during the day). Good breakfast with cooked options. Located in a wonderful town with excellent walking/cycling.
The historic architecture and warm atmosphere Street had alot oof traffic noise
The location and the style of the Inn itself. I am a director of f&b ata 4diamond hotel in sf, and I am certainly picky about service and comfort. For an Inn, Cetrella was top! Nothing.
Great place. Awesome rooms.
We had a wonderful time! Very close to the beach and Monterey! Pacific grove is such a beautiful area They charged me a different rate for the second night. When I booked on booking.com it get me a flat rate
Clean room. Breakfast as described and plentiful. Good location. Pool and hot tub were not very clean
Location, convenience, privacy in cottage everything was good
good location. The rooms were small , smelled like cigerette smoke in a non-smoking room(they would not give us another room) -my girlfiend is allergic ! not good. The view outside our window was a bunch of construction supplies thrown behing our building. The shower never got hot. I was trying to do something special for my soon to be wife. She was mad/unhappy our entire trip. -unsatisfactory!!!
Rooms were very clean and very nice. Would definitely recommend.
Well worth the money, and what a fabulous rate they have for bring practically beachfront! Very accommodating and helpful. Great breakfast too!! That we only stayed for one night! Can't wait to go back and stay longer.
It was so cozy and felt homey. I did not want to leave. Very clean and just overall an awesome stay That i did not stay longer
There was very little water pressure from the shower. Also the heater thermostat did not work. We set it at 80 we were freezing and went to bed, when we woke up the heater never kicked on but the ceiling fan did? So weird
I liked the outdoor area. There is a large pool, hot tub, games, and communal fire pit that was a lot of fun. I really dislike the bed covers. You are either way too hot or freezing. What happened to old-fashioned blankets?
Super nice staff. The $22 resort fee includes parking and internet. A little farther from the wharf/tourists spots.
Everyone from the front desk staff, the servers and bartenders, and the housekeepers did an amazing job. I work in the service industry in a casino/resort, and yet I experienced better service and a better experience with the staff at the Hyatt than where I work. A+++. The only things I didn't like had nothing to do with the hotel and its staff. It isn't located downtown, so it is a very short trek to the festivities in town. Also, it sounded like a large man was doing burpees in the room above us.
Very nice grounds. Facility and staff were very nice. Rooms look nice but not very functional. Modern hand shower makes a mess and not easy to use. Indoor free standing A.C. unit is needed but is as loud as a train. Closet door won't stay shut. Ceiling fan wobbles and makes noise. Soda machines were down. Stupid small things that could be easily fixed.
We enjoyed the recently updated rooms including the very nice bathroom with vanity and open shower. We enjoyed very tasty room service meals (dinner and breakfast). We also used the pool which was pleasantly warm. The toilet was a bit of a tight fit with walls on either side. The air conditioner was a standing machine which had an exhaust that was separated form the back and until we reattached it poured hot exhaust over the air-conditioning.
My wife and I live on east coast and celebrated our 25th anniversary in California. We stayed at a Hyatt in 3 out of the 4 cities we spent time in. We started with the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco for 4 nights which was fantastic! We then stayed here at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey which was not what we expected. We upgraded to a room facing the golf course. The view decent. The staff were very friendly. The location is good if you're a golfer. Otherwise, I would rather be closer to the beach. My primary complaint was the lack of central AC. I don't know if all rooms are setup this way but our room had a portable air conditioner. It does the job to cool the room but it is extremely loud and the compressor kicked on and off all night. If you can sleep in 72 degrees, you won't have a problem. If you are like my wife and I and like it 67-69 degrees, you may want to consider another hotel. It has a huge impact on a good night's sleep which is the main purpose for renting a hotel in the first place.
Hotel receptionist at the front lobby. Upon checking in, he literally gave keys and handed it over. Didn't explain anything else, parking, amenities, etc
Beautiful room, beautiful view and very convenient to all of down town It seems the nicer the hotel, the less accommodations. No free coffee or breakfast, business center computers needed to have browsers updated, too many kids in the spa
Checking in was not only expedient but flawless. Had no issues at all, was in my room within 10 minutes of pulling up to the front door. Room was excellent and I do suggest the pool view.
Loved that they had live music. Restaurant had good service for breakfast and dinner. Food was good as well. Did not like carpet in bedrooms. Bathrooms a bit small
Geat ocean view , nice evening music , the staff was helpful , we love the restaurant , we love the valet parking . and the price of the room includes it The price of the ocean view rooms is very expensive , and it doesn't include the breakfast
View was AMAZING! Bed and pillows were sooo comfortable! Bathroom was beautiful! Everyone was so friendly and went above and beyond! The room came with robes which is a plus, but they were very itchy so I didn't end up using it.
Very nice decor in room and everywhere. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice view of Monterey Bay from lobby and lower level lounge. WI-FI is free and works well. Expensive! Breakfast not included, 10% extra tax, and $25 extra for 2 queen beds instead of the default 1 king size bed. Only one night table. Parking is valet only, front bumper came back with a dent. I prefer to self-park. Getting my car back took 10 to 30 minutes. Driver expects to get a tip each time. There is a spa but it is not free. Someone placed a couple of calls from our room, I had to prove they were not mine.
We enjoyed the spa and the attentive staff. Please write at least 15 words Valet
Excellent customer service by all staff.
the bed was very comfortable charge of $25 resort fee.
I liked it's location and convience. Bed uncomfortable and gave me backache.
This place is amazing. Although ostensibly it doesn't look over the top, it is a quietly classy place. Our receptionist, Tiana, helped us throughout our stay and she is the sweetest and most accommodating representative (although everyone we met just went over the top, from the concierge to the bellhops to Ryan the cars concierge). The rooms are huge. They easily fit all of the stuff for our 8 month old with tons of room to spare. His packnplay was no issue at all. Everything is very clean and it was quiet and relaxing. We ordered room service , and it was pricey as expected, but the food was DELICIOUS! I doubt we would have found better food elsewhere - the crab cake Eggs Benny was delicious! We checked out and had our car brought around (valet parking is surprisingly included in the resort fee) and Ryan, our car concierge , told us if sightseeing (we were headed to the aquarium), to feel free to leave the car there, no problem, till 5. That was really nice and we did not have to worry about parking. Overall this is right on the end of cannery row and is apparently about a 10 minute walk from Fisherman's Wharf as well (we didn't have a chance to get down there). You can't beat the location, the customer service, or the amenities here. We would only stay here when coming back. Thank you!! Nothing!
Staff The price!
Very clean & well appointed. Nice live evening music. Convenient peet's coffee on premises. Nice outdoor firepit and beautiful "plaza area" / patio for all to use....very open-air views of the bay. Spa facilities did not accomodate the numbers of people using, it very well. Overall, hotel was a bit over the top for our needs, and I hate always having to figure out tips without feeling like a cheapskate, but I guess that's just part of "high livin". On the whole ,staff was extremely understanding & accommodating of a few problems that arose and were more than fair in resolving them.
The staff is amazing and the hotel was very elegant. I was very satisfied with everything I have no complaints. There is nothing I can say bad about this hotel. N/A
Beautiful hotel, great location. Comfortable beds. Rooms need maintenance. Lock didn't work and needed to be replaced. Phone wasn't working properly.
Close to everything downtown and you're right next to Fisherman's Wharf. Staff were professional and very accommodating. Spa services were great. Construction was going on outside for their conference center so you have to walk around it a little bit but inside you couldn't hear it from where I was staying along Pacific Street.
Walking distance from everything. Construction during our stay and a long walk from the elevators
Jackhammers outside my window at 8am, nonstop construction noise on hotel and conference center next door. Poor service in restaurant. Good location & friendly staff
my kids loved the pool and hot tub.
We paid 150 plus 20 to park. I am at peace with it. Recommended. 20 additional to park...cmon.
I liked the overall comfort of the hotel. I did not like the service. I asked for a bellhop to help take my bags to the car. I waited for about 25 minutes and decided to take the bags myself.
Shards of glass on the room floor; freezing temperature when we walked into the room (heater was not on); once heater was turned on, had little to no effect, so we slept in bathrobes and ordered two extra blankets. Hotel is currently under major renovation, so the check-in feels like a motel and there is no entry lobby.
-Clean room -Big and fluffy towels -Ceiling fan and portable oscillating floor fan -Plenty of drinking glasses -Condiments and Keurig Coffee/Tea -The last room had bathrobes. This one did not. -No microwave / no access to microwave -Toilet paper rather thin -No other complaints
Hotel was under construction. It was loud and not the least bit relaxing. We were woken up in the middle of the night by drunks cursing in the plaza area. The carpet in the room was stained. The power went out multiple times and I had one family member get stuck in the elevator. The staff was friendly but my experience overall was not pleasant.
We love the Portillo but the construction is very distracting. We come about once a year and last year it was complete distraction as well. The room we got this trip was so noisy. We could hear everyone walking by yelling and screaming in the middle of the night. I wish we had staying in the main building. Everything else was oerfect! We love the portola... we will visit again even tho this wasn't the best of visits.
The hotel is a short walk to the pier. There is a lot of construction around the hotel, which makes things loud and busy. We had to wait until after 5 to check in ad still didn't get what we had asked for. There was a large convention there and basically the staff told us that they couldn't do anything to accommodate us. We ended up with a room on a VERY busy street and a toilet paper rack that kept falling on the ground. I was really looking forward to this hotel and was disappointed.
Location and price
Lovely location right in the heart of Cannery Row and on the waterfront. This is not an inexpensive hotel but let's face it this is an InterContinental brand not a Motel 6. If you want to splurge this is a good choice however if you don't need a waterfront view and stay in the connected bldg. across the street you can get a room with a fireplace for less. I found this hotel to be relaxing and the staff helpful. Even without a waterfront room they have a large deck area looking out into Monterey Bay where you can sit in front of a fire pit with your friends or by yourself and sip your favorite beverage and enjoy the view and some down time from busy Cannery Row.
Excellent service Noisiest hotel in Monterey
Nice rooms, and great restaurant attached to hotel with an extensive wine menu
Friendly staff I thought booking a hotel right next to the water that I could be hearing waves in the tranquility of the evening. Instead I hear cars and foot traffic because our room is all the way back and faces the garage. This hotel was almost three times the cost of any equivalent hotel if it wasn't next to the waves I didn't get to hear.
This was a great location within walking distance of phenomenal dining and wine tasting rooms. Room was exceptional, the service excellent and the spa personnel accommodating. First deep tissue massage I ever tapped out for a slightly lesser pressure. We will return over and over again. You have to stay here when in Monterrey! Nothing
Liked how we could purchase 2 day aquarium tickets for the same price. That was very convenient. I didn't need a mini bar in he room. But would of liked a microwave and mini fridge.
The location was great. Right in the middle of Cannary Row. The pool was small.
The location It was no better than a holiday express, but much more expensive. Beds were miserably uncomfortable.
Location was excellent, Hotel was beautiful. Staff was world class. Will be staying again in the future. A bit pricey
staff is amazing, the room was perfect and you can't beat the location at one block from the aquarium.
You can't beat the location- just a block away from the Monterrey Bay Aquarium and right on Cannery Row. Staff was all very nice and the facilities were top notch. The restaurant was not pricey and not very good. This is a small complaint, as the view was outstanding and there are plenty of better places to eat within easy walking distance. Would have been nice if wifi was included with room.
Incredible staff, convenient location
Very clean comfortable pillows. Nothing
Location was great! Old!!! things breaking like door handle and tub/sink not draining!!! Smells like dust! I have allergies!
The area No breakfast room
Location is excellent for the area. Parking convenient Hotel isn't updated. E.G. Hairdryers very old.
Clean and comfortable atmosphere. Pillows were extremely uncomfortable, fire place made the room "smoky" and uncomfortable to breathe and made our eyes burn. We had to open a window to get the air flowing in the room again. When we tried calling front desk by pressing "0", the "0" didn't work. TV was difficult to figure out. Had to call the front desk to find out how to get that menu off the screen so we could actually view the TV. I would still stay at this hotel but I would have liked to see a more reasonable price (but I know it was a busy weekend). I do believe the issues we experienced were just "flukes" and I don't believe the hotel, as a whole, was like this.
Large room, comfortable bed, fireplace with log!
The hotel was clean and in a fair geographical position. I arrived and opened my room, which was not made up. I was given another room, which was fine. The room above was noisy. The wireless internet did not work.
all room come with fireplaces it's a chain hotel (Best Western) - which was not clear to me at the time of booking
location, spacious room, confortable bed breakfast
It was close to our son and his family and also the room was very clean and the coffee was great.
Clean modern room in a perfect area for our stay. We were billed for our reservation at the weekend rate of $99 but did not recieve the discounted weekday rate for Sunday as an additional day. When I asked about the lower rate for that day the representitive at the desk agreed that the rate was indeed lower but would not allow it so I thought I would let you know of my concern. It's not the money. It's the arrogance of her refusal.
Very loud party in the room next door that went on until after midnight, with no enforcement of quiet and no security on premises at all; friendly but untrained, inexperienced staff could not answer questions or solve problems; no regular--only decaf--coffee left in room one day!; listened to our complaint but may have been just humoring us until we left!
Building architecture Room cleanliness, size, quality of material. sheets, etc. The heater blows right on the bes and makes sleelinping very uncomfortable when turned on.
Family rooms are right between staircases that are outside looking into your room. Very loud from other rooms. Seemed old and poorly insulated. Outdoor lighting shined in Windows. Definitely felt dirty in rooms, beds very uncomfortable. Have to be honest because I read people's reviews that liked it and that's why we took family there. Poor decision! Will not recommend or return...
Location was fine. Spacious room. Bed was comfortable. Gas fireplace warmed the room. Crowded breakfast room. Furnishings were tired. Some voices from neighboring room through the wall. Bathroom sink drained slowly and needed to be cleaned.
We had a nice large room with a fireplace and vaulted ceilings. Nicely decorated. Very clean. Parking right out front. Comfortable bed. Everything we needed was already in our room.
The grounds are very unique and allow for areas to relax outside. It is also close to Fisherman's Warf and the downtown area. I didn't like the fact that I kept finding items left by the previous guest in to room (i.e. wrappers, tags, debris, etc.). For what was charged, I would have expected more for breakfast. A Holiday Inn Express has a more comprehensive breakfast.
Location was perfect. Close to all restaurants. Noise level from above room and street noise. Also, pictures on website make this hotel look amazing when it's not.
We were pleasantly surprised with the gorgeous room that featured high vaulted wooden cross-hatched ceilings, a romantic fireplace and balcony, two showers, a comfy couch with huge wall mounted tv, and a cute little kitchenette/dining area. It was super close to the wharf which is a huge plus. They charged me for the bottle of water I took in the fridge so be careful. It's a trap!
Rooms are very warm, inviting, and comfortable. Would appreciate it if you would install a Tesla charger (electric car) in your garage during your renovations. Tesla will give the wall charger to you upon request, you just have to install.
it was a very nice room and very spacious. It was expensive and did not have air conditioning.
It was pretty spacious and the front desk girl was really nice. Room wasn't the cleanest, and the walls were really thin, you could hear everything going on next door.
Great location, friendly staff. We stayed as a family and our daughter loved all the beautiful flowers. Easy walking distance to the beach and Downtown Monterey.
the property was nice, and appearance above average. The location was excellent, and adjacent to the historical downtown and the wharf. A mile to the aquarium. My concerns were with continental breakfast, which was included, and very inferior, with stale croissants, etc. also stingy with towels and linens in room. Silly.
my boyfriend and i loved the shower.. water got hot really fast and amazing water pressure. Our room was a lot larger than we had anticipated, which was great. It almost felt like a tiny home during our 4 night stay. We also loved how close it was to the downtown area and lots of good restaurants. Only 1 mile from the aquarium, we walked there and back. overall had a wonderful time at this hotel, we even stayed an extra night. I didn't like the continental breakfast. the first morning was ok, bagels muffins and fruit with coffee and juice was nice. But by the second morning i was over it. More variety would have been nice for the price per night at the hotel.
Very roomy, clean and close to fisherman's wharf. Walking distance to several restaurants.
noise from street was awful
booked the suite and hence was quite spacious for a family of three. breakfast was continental but had some hot stuff like oatmeals and was ok to take back to room and eat with the family. Parking was extra which was not revealed till we checked in. a stiff $20 per day per car. which given other hotels were not charging, felt like nickel and diming
My wife and I stayed at the Martine Inn during Monterey Car Week and, in spite of the elevated activity level throughout the Monterey area, Don, his Grandson and the staff took great care of us. The Inn was our welcome ocean front retreat when we needed a break. Breakfasts were very good and the afternoon "tea" was extensive and tasty. All in all, a delightful stay. Being car week, the room rates were not a bargain but also not totally unreasonable as all area accommodations go up pretty sharply during that time. Also, the rooms are not air conditioned, which is not prominently mentioned. Though the days were pretty warm (August) the ocean front location assured that things cooled down reasonably during the evenings. Sleeping was not at all uncomfortable.
We loved the atmosphere, and the food was deliciousm staff was excellent and we felt very comfortable there.
Nice accommodation near shops and restaurants. Cozy guesthouse with friendly personell.
They are meembers of the 4 sisters org. I have always had a good experience with them. Very enjoyable!, It owuld be nice to have a TV in every room. Very good place
Rooms are upgraded and very nice, great location, pleasant staff. The "Lodge" is in one location across the street from the picturesque "Cottages". The "Lodge" rooms are more of a typical Motel, with upstairs rooms and downstairs rooms (thus neighbors can be noisy if you are downstairs). Cottages are the pics you see and are beautiful, if you are staying there, which can be misleading as there are no two double bed rooms in the cottages. All two bed rooms are in lower level in the "Lodge". What really upset us is the two levels of service. In the "Cottages" there is a beautiful main dining area for meals/wine/fire pits, but you can't use it if you are staying in the "Lodge" rooms. The "Lodge" rooms get a very cramped continental breakfast that would be sub-par for a Super 8.
The views were excellent. Proximity to other attractions was a plus. Second day breakfast had no meat items.
Cute room, the room was clean. The back of our room was facing a cemetery. And the landscape hadn't been maintained for quite sometime.
Perfect space for us. A little balcony which was nice because we have a one-year-old that goes to bed at 7:30. Short walk to the coast and out of the way of the touristy business of Monterey. Only like three chairs at the pool. Sliding doors to balcony very stubborn.
The room was nice and spacey. The fireplace was a nice addition even though we didn't use it. It's a good location to see things in Monterey bay, walking or driving. The breakfast is a good deal. We tried to check in and was told our room wouldn't be ready for 30-45 minutes. They suggested we come back or wait. No explanation was given and there were absolutely no apologies or signs of inconvenience. They only gave us 3 towels for the room and when we asked for more because we were going to the pool it seemed super inconvenient for them or like it wasn't allowed. Be aware of the mosquitoes in the area. We left the door open and a lot got in the room. Be aware the space behind the hotel is a cemetery.
The location Very poor wifi, and poor phone service. Breakfast was very minimal without much selection.
Away from tourist areas. Very peaceful. Needs some renovation.
The area, peaceful and seanic. The area it is in
Perfect for families with young kids and dogs. Five minutes from Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Roe. Just around the corner from 17 Mile Drive gate. Convenient parking. Rooms and resort dated and a bit run down. Could be a little cleaner. Continental breakfast area overcrowded and toasters not all working. Night front desk clerk not very friendly.
It was very charming with the cemetery and light house within walking distance. Shower doors and floor tile could use some Tilex
Reviews of this property are rather unfair. It is well kept and the room was very nice and clean. It appears to be recently updated. It does back up to a cemetery but that didn't bother us and provided for a view of the grazing deer. Internet worked well and the fire-pit was a great place to relax. The breakfast was cold, tasteless and for the most part empty trays of food were offered. Rubber egg frisbees, cold under cooked potatoes and slimy oatmeal. Bring your own breakfast! Other than the breakfast things were good.
we had deer right in front of our patio door! And the grounds were nice. The beds were also comfortable. The free wifi was easy to use too. The location is great. Our patio sliding door didn't have a screen so when we opened the door for ventilation I noticed a couple of mosquitoes. And when exploring the cemetery that our room faced I noticed that other rooms in our building had screens on their doors. The room also had a weird smell when we first got there. while the sheets were clean the carpet had several stains and there were a lot of scratches and marks on the walls. And considering the price and how easy it would be to cover them with touch up paint, I was disappointed with the quality...not to mention our room was described as having a fireplace and ours did not.
one room had furniture outside in the parking lot waiting for the carpet to dry, yet we were given key and told it was ready. we were not assigned another room in the nearly empty complex and had to wait them out.No black out curtains with bright outside light making room like day time all night long, not good for sleeping. No hot water in the am for a shower, nor hot water in the sink. unconconcered and rude young woman at front desk. will not go back. mostly because of the nasty girl at the desk. told me next time i could go out at night and unscrew the bulb if the light bothered me. Couldnt explain the lack of appropiate curtains. probably out in the parking lot with the other furniture
The location bathroom needs updating, tiny thin shelf along the wall was the only space to put things, need a surround around the sink.Room cluttered with pictures and two fake flower pots. Not sure why a room near the sea has to have the 'italian countryside' look.It would make the rooms appear more spacious if the clutter was gone &colour scheme reflected sea side theme.?need for outside light on all night.
I thought the hotel was in a great location, you could actually hear the ocean waves at night, and a pretty good price for the area. It was a very quiet location too.
The hotel was very clean and quiet. The staff was very helpful.
the room is very beautiful and comfort. The front desk is very helpful. My families love this place very much!
we stayed there a year ago and liked the location, pleasant color of the room, the view outside of our room, the quietness and being close to the ocean walk. So we decided to return and found everything being just as nice. There is nothing we found not to our liking. Thank you!
Badly stained carpet, a/c ventilation grill hadn't seen a brush or duster in years, it was "furry" with dust/dirt.
The hotel is very simple and the continental breakfast means muffins and coffee. Definetely not a 3 stars.
Beautiful décor is the icing on the cake for this newly remodeled hotel. Tiled bathrooms and pillow top mattresses combined with spacious closets and effective kitchenettes created a down-home luxurious feeling. Easily accessible from the parking lot, the room's manually locked doors allowed you to enter your home-away from home. In addition to all the typical amenities of vending and Wi-Fi, the beautifully tailored grounds were punctuated by a pool, Jacuzzi and fire pit. This affordable hotel had a feeling of opulence that doesn't break the bank. That I had to leave!
We stayed in the delux queen cottage and it was perfect! Newly remodeled, spacious, private and quiet with a kitchenette. The cottages don't share walls and have lovely views of landscaping and trees. Wish we would have stayed longer, we will be back.
Clean and quiet location. Easy access to all the area offers. Good value for money No laundry
Stone tiled shower. Large back patio shaded with tree. Location near ocean walking paths and town.. Terrible breakfast- just commercial muffins cut in half.
Price, Breakfast was OK, ocean across the street, breakfast was OK, refrigerator in room was a plus, close to where I needed to go. Below parking felt dicey, rooms need upgrading.
Location was perfect and Juliana was absolutely wonderful! She was so helpful and funny, she even recommended a fabulous restaurant across the street for us and gave us a free appetizer. Beds were comfortable, there were no noises or anything, and breakfast was basic but good. Can't go wrong! Parking garage was only open on one end and turning around in there was challenging.
location Garbage trucks outside window at 6 AM Broken heater with poor substitute heat source Noisey alley Parking lot view w/no assigned parking Very dated and worn: bordered on shabby
The location was fantastic, and the staff was very friendly. The facilities were outdated and there was some water in the parking area.
Good location, right at Lover's Point. The free WiFi was good enough to stream a kids show via Netflix. Very noisy with thin walls. The rooms are on the small side with an odd layout. However, it has everything you need for a short stay.
Small room, wich seamed a little run down
Location was amazing! The hotel was extremely loud which is a challenge when traveling with a toddler. Most of the staff was helpful but I found Julianna to be rude and abrupt. When asking about a place to get bagels she pointed behind her and said "check lighthouse Ave." even though she had a map in front of her she did not help with directions. Also not helpful during a power outage. I had to ask them for a flashlight! They didn't even check to see if we needed anything.
The location is definitely perfect for a quiet weekend get away. the room was clean and definitely easy enough to check in. Breakfast was good There was an overall musty smell in the room and bathroom. The paint in the bathroom was bubbling off the walls.
This hotel depends on its superior location for its business. The facility otherwise is lacking in every other category. There are too many better hotels in the area for the price. It would behoove the owners to spend a little money on this facility as it is run down and inoperative. What work was done was not to any professional level i.e. shower stalls with large holes where the installer completely missed the plumbing opening. We complained that the drain was so slow that standing water backed up 4" deep. Came back that night with no repair. Also came back to an room that had not been cleaned. AM staff would only ARGUE that there was a do not disturb sign on door. We did not leave one.
It's across the street from the water. Would you believe that this place has mostly ocean view rooms for this price! I sat in the morning in my room drinking my coffee and looking at the water or watching people walking down the beach from my window. The beds are clean, bathroom is good, people at the front desk are happy and friendly. A little noisy since the building is older and lots of families stay there. But everything else is great! Couldn't ask for more.
The location and staff was friendly. Had a mini fridge and microwave which is all you really need. Very clean and had a nice little tv. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. I'm not sure if the walls are very thin or because our room was a Couple feet from where the cars park but you could hear every little sound outside of the room. The people above us had lead feet as well buts that's not necessarily the hotels fault.
Beach front view and lower level is better easy access to the road and taxis Lady at customer service was really rude. Had to take a taxi to fisherman's warf and aquarium since didn't want to pay for parking there but it is not a walk away from hotel it's a drive, bathroom was not clean and very very tiny.
Great location across from Asilomar and close to the ocean. Rooms are very dated and worn out. Carpet and bedspread seemed new-ish, but just about everything else was run down or looked pre-1990s. Some lights didn't work and many things were sticky/dirty - remote, lights, knobs. Fireplace nice in another season.
Charming, rustic, great location.
The staff was great. The room was very nice and it was large. We were within a mile of the wharf and Cannery Row. The picture on the website must have been taken 20 years ago. The property has aged considerably but it is very well maintained.

Price, location, coziness
Excellent location. Old carpet.

Liked the in-room fireplace, warm reception from staff, wifi, wine social hour Some loud plumbing noises at times

Close to the beach Water was very chlorinated
The check in person was helpful and friendly. The check out person was defensive. Room is too crowded with stuff. Lack of space for luggage and yourself. We were on first floor where they recommend locking windows plus people could see in. Two small windows on the parking/alley side did not provide enough air considering there was no A/C. Also very noisy in the morning on that side. Add to that was the fact the screens were ripped. TV had a cheap, crappy remote. The location is only okay. Price too high for the product.
Staff was fantastic- just very accomodating, friendly and really made an effort to make the stay enjoyable. Can't say enough about the staff. I was sitting reading on their pretty outdoor patio and they offered me a glass of wine, even though the bar wouldn't be open for another few hours. Room was really great- spacious, updated fixtures and hardware (felt like a swanky room), and without any ambient noise at all. Plush soft towels, comfortable bedding- the whole experience just made us both feel like "ok, we're staying at a NICE hotel." We were on the second floor facing the street and really didn't get any street noise at all either. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely stay here again.
-We were allowed to check-in early (11am!) -The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. -The fireplace was very romantic and made the room toasty. -The outdoor pool was heated and clean.
Modern room update. Extra sink/ mirror outside of bathroom which is always useful. Very clean. Comfortable bed and bedding. Fireplace which would be lovely in cool weather. Centrally located. The safe in our room would not open and my things were in it. The hotel staff could not fix it although the maintenance guy was able to get it open. The manager gave us a voucher for the restaurant which was appreciated. Small room size. No air conditioning which I realize they don't need very often, but it was quite warm when we were there.
The location was good not great. Close to stuff but still a bit of a walk. I was happy with the value. Comfortable room and clean. It looks like the place has recently been renovated. A bigger pool and hot tub would be nice.
I was looking for the best hotel for the most reasonable price that accepted dogs. This was the one that I found using Hotels.com and Yelp and other resources. They honored my reservation made late last year and I was able to bring my dog. That was really great. The rooms were very nice, very clean. It was an excellent value for the money. Some people complained about the noise but I did not notice any problems with that. Staff was very nice and allowed me to keep my trailer parked in the lot while my boat was on the water. That allowed me flexibility during my visit. The front parking lot was very tight and very full. The back lot was not accessible due to construction but I assume that would free help once construction ceased. They no longer accept dogs. I would go back again if they allowed dogs still. In fact, it would be the only place I would go while staying there. The fridge is a little small but many food options were nearby so storing food is not really highly necessary.
We often stay in Monterey and we very much like this place. It's location is great if you don't mind walking a little, and the rooms are nice, clean and well-equipped. The amenities are small -- workout room, pool, etc... but when in Monterey there isn't a reason to stay at the hotel anyway. During peak season, the rooms are a little pricey here
Clean. Nice nice room.
Pool, hot tub I paid $200 for basically a motel with a cuter looking front. The place seems like it needs a fix up and not just cosmetic. I've NEVER stayed in a hotel with no a/c..you should at least advertise that there's no a/c. We heard every footstep of the guests above us. I'd never stay again
The valet was super nice and helpful. The young woman checking me in was friendly as well. I was happy with my stay
Not able to park my own car
Centrally located allowing us to explore Monterey It is tired.
Location was great! 1. Your ad said I had two options for this type of room: City view or Ocean view. I clicked on city view. In reality, I got a room on the second floor and a view of the building next door and the Subway down the street. VERY misleading ad and application form for your room. 2. I was given the option of a King or Double. The room was for my partner and I so I was hoping for a King. I've never received a double booking as a couple but this time I did. I called front desk to change my room when I got upstairs and they said I never specified King. Your website doesn't give a very obvious space for me to specify King though. 3. The room I was placed in was next to the weight room. It was loud because when people work out, they lick to drop weights which makes a lot of noise. This did not making sleeping very easy. 4. I tried paying for the internet but kept getting error messages. I'm good with computers and I'm certain this was a network issue and not a user error on my part. In short, I didn't get the room I expected, it was difficult sleeping at night bc we were so close to the weight room, there was no internet, and I don't understand how the front desk said I should have specified King bed when your online app form doesn't give me a space for that. I won't be staying at the Marriot any more in the future.
As we were checking in, we were told that we had signed up for two queen beds. As this was the one night in over 4 years that we got to spend together without her kids, I had made sure when I reserved the room it was for a king bed. After 10 minutes of negotiating, the lady at the front desk assigned is to a wheelchair accessible room with the king bed. Paying $400+ for the night, we were not very happy with the type of room we were assigned to. The bed itself was very uncomfortable. The mattress was very cheap and sagging on each side. The pillows were made of practically nothing but air. To add to the lovely stay, at 1:00 am we were awoken to the the fire alarm going off and loud flashing blinking lights in our room. The entire hotel had to evacuate and after the fireman came to turn the alarm off, we went back to our room. It was safe to say at this point we wouldn't get much sleep. As we complained to the front desk about our stay, they apologized and offered nothing to us. I will NEVER stay at this Marriott again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
