Pros: Great hotel. Clean, nice and spacious rooms. Excellent breakfast. Hotel is located in center, so good location. Spa is very nice and access is included for hotel guests.
Cons: Great hotel but attitude of staff at reception unacceptable. Despite upfront committed promise by hotel (i.e. at booking more than month in advance) of providing us with connecting rooms, this appeared unavailable at check-in... After asking and eventually involving hotel management, staff promised to have connecting rooms available for day 2 to 4 of our stay. However, at day 2, there were again no connecting rooms available. And not for the entire length of our stay. Travelling with young kids, the availability of connecting rooms was our reason for choosing this hotel. No compensation, no token of good will, no excuses by staff, no ask by staff whether we enjoyed our stay at check-out... Simply rude behaviour of staff... First and last time for us.

Pros: Staying at the Splendid exceeded our expectations in every possible way. It is located in the heart of Dax and everything is at walking distance. The room was huge, super-clean and quiet, with a great view to the city. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The spa facilities were excellent, though a bit crowded during our visit.
Cons: Hotel does not offer parking so we had to pay for on-street parking nearby. The breakfast buffet was okay but not to the same standard as the rest of the hotel - still good value though. The staff working evening shift at the hotel terrace bar were terrible, took them 45 minutes to take our order and 30 more minutes to serve our drinks, followed by finger food (which was not what we ordered).

Beautiful city location for enjoying the Thermes (water therapy) and shopping in little streets. Wheelchair accessible hotel with large rooms but tiny elevators. Cons: No private parking but paid city parking next to the hotel. Very limited pool hours for children under 15. No parking in the city center during the week long Féria de Dax, the yearly cultural city celebration in August around August 15.

Pros: The hotel in beautiful with a lovely art nouveauté lobby and a great Spa, in the heart of the town.
Cons: Because the day of our arrival, was the day after the “fetes de Dax” the staff was very tired which seemed an excuse for everything. The reception seemed understaffed, or at least unwilling to help . The restaurant was closed, just like almost all other restaurants in town. We were not previously informed, there was no alternative (a sandwich would have done). The waiter told the woman at the table next to us that she should just finish the peanuts if she was so hungry. If it wouldn’t have been for the man in the street we asked and who after some calls walked us to one of the few restaurants that was open that night, we wouldn’t have eaten at all. Unworthy for a hotel of this statue to not take care of your clients.

Pros: Handy to have the kitchen and restaurant on location. felt family friendly, however given the catering to those with medical needs through services offered, it felt like if I had a higher spirited child, I may feel I was being intrusive to the other guests.
Cons: the kitchen was well equipted with plates, pots etc, but had no cleaning supplies (dishsoap, sponge) - though we got some through the front desk.

Pros: I do not think you should use this hotel for ordinary travellers, it is used by people on the cure and everybody is in dressing gowns around the hotel awaiting their treatments, not a very pleasant atmosphere.

However the check in was lengthy and the bar was not manned at 6 pm and was locked up at 9.45 pm. The balcony was very disappointing with no furniture as expected. The bed side light did not work and room very small. We were disappointed in this booking in general.

Pros: We booked this on very short notice and forgot to check on the location. It is not the easiest to find by car and with no private parking we would not use again. Parking is nearby but not as we would want. Reception were great as we arrived later than expected and this was no problem. Nice to have a balcony with fabulous views. Great to be dog friendly
Cons: Breakfast was a bit short on selection. No cold meats. I appreciate (after seeing ALL the other guests in bathrobes for breakfast) that many are here on a health regime. All the breakfast tables were reserved and we had to wait while the staff found us a free table.

Pros: Wow, what a warm welcom. The owner was extremly friendly and happy to help. We as a family couldnt have asked for more. We would deffinatley return and recommend to anyone needing to lay their tired heads on the very comfortable bed. The rooms were clean and the fan was an extra bonus which most hotels dont offer. Breakfast was great plenty to eat. Secure parking is available which is always good to have. Thank you for a super stay.
Cons: In room coffee making facilities would be a bonus.

Pros: A very nice little place with a perfectly friendly and helpful owner. The rooms are very nicely done and while the shower cabin was on the small side for my 2m frame, everything else was just fine. The terrace that came with our room was great to relax. Almost a shame, we only staid one night. Having a secured, shaded parking very nearby was great and the centre of Dax is a few minutes walk away so you don't need the car further. We'll happily return on occasion.

Pros: Property was easy to find and they had parking with barriers. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The sheets were white and crisp. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Cons: We had a dog with us so were given a room that was sad and in need of some updating. We were right at the back of the hotel which smelled a bit stale and the hallway carpets were tired. €114 euros was a lot of money for the state of the place - would’ve happily paid €80 to make it good value.

Pros: Nice size room. Very clean. Very comfortable bed. We could access BBC news on the TV. The room was serviced every second day. The staff were very helpful. They were able to speak English. Breakfast was included in our room rate. Breakfast options were very good. There were a large number of restaurants within 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Car parking was within 3 minutes walk. It was provided free.

Pros: Central, basic value. Friendly staff. Near good restaurants. Restaurant at the hotel was closed as we arrived after 7pm. Clean. A great stopover option.

Pros: Reasonable location within Dax. However I would not stay here again. Needs an upgrade &/or some TLC within the bedrooms / showers etc. Staff are the only redeeming feature!
