Far better than what I expected.
The location was excellent with only a short walk to beach and village. Breakfast was excellent and had lots of choices. The pool could be opened earlier in the morning than 9pm before breakfast like most other hotels with facilities. The evening dinner menu should be more varied and generous with portions.
The services of the Hotel, the position and the breakfast are very good. It's incredibile that in such kind of Hotel some persons of the staff don't speak english!!
really nothing at the hotel; appart fromt the very nice view .and the access to the beach hotel seemed very 'run down' and old fashionned. definately not value for money for a short stay. the staff was non existant, the rooms were nothing better than a cheap roadside hotel type.breakfast was appaling considering the cost.if you go there for the spa the experience is probably different
Pleasant surrounding and good quality Value for money - 75 / 25 - It is a little expensive for what you actually get in room .Good quality facilites for spa and reelax but rooms very sparse.
A Very good location. Excellent views. Good linguistic skills of staff. The building is getting tired, time for a review of details, not good enough just to use maintenance staff to keep it alive. After many years in the service industries I would be happy to elaborate. Car parking is only just acceptable, a parking attendant would ease the frustration caused when seeking a space.
The position of the hotel with all rooms facing the sea. The main attraction in the Hotel is Talasso. However if the hotel want to attract more guests and to Talasso as they must speak at least main languages. Now only a few people speak English and no one - Russian. There is no information in Russian inside the hotel. The website booking.com has mor information that hotel and Talasso themselves.
Its location... Room Size
The welcome was good and as expected. Garden, terrace and pool pleasant. Staff helpful, pleasant. Disappointed in room- dark with no view, not good value for. money
Staff were helpful and the room was very comfortable. Lovely swimming pool. Luckily we spotted that we'd been charged for breakfast (40 euros!) when we'd only had coffee.
Excellent facilities & Location The fact that Parking & Breakfast was an extra charge.
Facilities and helpful multi-lingual staff. The pool, gym and garden terrace were a great feature as was the location. Given ugrade from superior to deluxe as staying for 6 nights. Rooms could do with tea/coffee making facility and an additional chair or two. Although the breakfast is excellent some form of express breakfast would be good as 20 euros is expensive if only a coffee and croissant is required. Very noisey in early hours as no airconditioning means windows need to be left open.
friendly, helpful staff having to pay extra for the car
situation and friendly staff
Very professional staff No complaints
Quality of the swimming pool and the roof garden to relax in.
Location in Dinard was perfect. The bedroom provided did not have air conditioning.
Just about everything you would want at one site. VFM probably depends on whether you want to use all that the hotel has to offer. The hotel made a mistake with our booking and could not accommodate us the first night - their response was excellent (eg free alternative hotel, upgade for the remainder of our stay). If your room has a balcony, ask for the wing on the right as you look at the hotel as it gets the sun - if that is what you want but means your room also gets warmer. Rooms at the front of the hotel can suffer from a bit of street noise and as they overlook the foyer, also from those returning from the casino, more so if you have to leave your window open to cool down. Hotel car park a bit pricey at E16 per day.
Very helpful staff allowed us to leave our bags early in the day. Beautiful sea view. Stylish room/bathroom. Fantastic position by the beach but only a short walk into town.
Room was well appointed and furnished. Shower room was good. Location was good Breakfast we disappointing. Food choice was limited. Cpmplimentray champage that was offered as partvof the package was denied because the bar staff was not available and " I should have demanded it on arrival". Blame was passed to me and the hotel staff were adamant that it could not be sorted.
Nice place with a smashing view of the beach. Great shower! Easy walk to the wall city, with all it’s great places to eat, meant that it was not a problem the hotel did not have a restaurant. Very tight car park, although very secure if can get in! (We had a Land Rover). No opportunity to make tea or coffee in the room
We thought the bedroom was really well decorated and well presented. It had all amenities and had been really well thought out. It was probably the most comfortable room we stayed in during our 2 week holiday in France. It was also good having a secure garage. The only think we had hoped for was to have dinner on the evening that we arrived as we did not feel much like walking too far but unfortunately, the hotel didn't have a restaurant. The barmaid suggested a sea food restaurant in the walled city which wasn't very good.
I found the price too high particularly as everything had to be paid for in addition to the room price
The staff were marvellous. We were allowed an early checkin from the ferry and when we were caught in snow storms they were able to be flexible with the check out too. The location was perfect for the centre of St Malo and there were excellent restuarants nearby. Everything was fantastic.
The location close to the walls of St Malo and the beautiful view when we were eventually allocated the correct room
Wonderful shower arrangementsnand decor. The best I have ever seen in any hotel. I also admired proper reading lights well placed by the bed - very rare.
I love the design of the hotel, clean and comfortable, modern and so near to the beach, lovely view from the window..seperate toilet and bathroom...a plus....most amazing hotel i've ever stayed in, of course, st malo is a beautiful place..will definitely stay there again...
It does what it says on the tin Tea/Coffee making facilities would be nice. Garage parking is restricted and expensive
Recently modernised very comfortable helpful staff
It is situated near the center of the city The best room's price is much higher than the standart, but the difference is so little (about 3 square meters - it means nothing)
proximity to the beach
Efficient reception, comfortable room, clean modern shower, external electric window shutters. Walking distance to beach 1 minute, walking distance to good selection of great restautrants 2 minutes, great walks along the seafront with summer boat service across the estuary to St Malo. BBC World on the TV lots of French channels but so many times you can watch the news if you don't speak French, other hotels in this town have more English tv channels which would be a plus.
The funny/friendly attitude of the staff though very professionnal - location - design - "piano bar" Price/quality of breakfast
Friendly staff. Good location. Comfortable room Room rather dark. Would have liked to have coffee/tea making facilities
We had an enjoyable stay at the hotel, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was very central to the beach and restaurants Our room although being very clean and comfortable was a bit small
the exceptional friendliness of the staff. We liked everything. Would have been nice if the hotel has restaurant facilities.
The location is convenient to the surrounding areas we were visiting. The staff were friendly and helpful. A cute place for the budget we had. The bar lounge/outside deck area is nice when watching the sky change colors over the water in the mornings. We left out the Do Not Disturb sign on our door when we would leave during the day, however, the room was still entered and cleaned. We never brought it up to the staff though, but everything else was fine.
Very friendly staff who did well to speak english. Our room needed a towel rail in the bathroom, and another easy chair. The menu needs to change every few days
I found the staff to be attentive to the guests needs and able to communicate in the english language when needed.
Convenient location after a late evening arrival from Jersey.
Very helpful, breakfast very good value
We were travelling down to La Rochelle so was an overnight stay. The bed was uncomfortable.
Very handy and attractive location for catching ferry from St Malo. A clean, efficient operation with well-trained staff.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and there was a very good restaurant for this budget end hotel. The rooms were very clean, especially the bathroom. It was very simply furnished. Small rooms and no snacks available, but would stay again
Excellent friendly and knowlegable staff, Good restaurant facilities Would have like tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms also I felt the triple room was crowded.
The service and size of the cold plate of food that I had - I arrived after the restuarant had closed, but had a massive and very tasty selection of cheeses, pates, bread etc, with three desserts - it was sufficient for my breakfast as well. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Comfortable bed, good shower - what more could you want for an overnight stay? Nothing
Good value for money. Nice breakfast. Room narrowness. Ceiling 2 meters high.
Excellent location. Staff ( particularily the Manageress ) were extremely polite and helpful. The breakfast was very good and unhurried. During our stay at the beginning of September the bar shut at 7.00pm so no chance of a nightcap when returning from an evening out.
Hotel in very good location. Very clean with excellent breakfast. Very heplful staff. No Parking at hotel, though free parking close by with information from reception staff.
Staff were very helpful, the bathroom was very good and everything was very clean.Good heating/ air con A kettle would have been a nice inclusion in the room and it was a little small, but it was excellent for money, so can't complain.
we had a very friendly reception and found the bedroom clean and comfortable if ,maybe a little small The breakfast was very adequate
Staff were very friendly and helpful.Breakfast range good
location is excellent for shopping, dining out, the beach and good bus service to neighbouring places. The staff are brilliant and helpful and organised a taxi to pick us up at the airport and take us back. The room was clean, modern and fresh, comfy bed with thick warm duvet. Fabulous! Would be nice to have a kettle in the room for that first drink of coffee or tea in the morning.
The hotel was bright and new and the staff were very welcoming No car parking. The room needed a mirror in the bedroom as well as the bathroom, especially as it was 2 ladeis sharing.
The service at this hotel is excellent. None
great facelift though it has lost its old real French style I have known for 20+ years. Very welcoming; spottlessly clean, excellent breakfast, good value parking if you ask. Rooms small but beautifully furnished. no
My daughter & I had to stay an extra day in France due to a flight change. I chose this hotel after reading the reviews on Trip Adviser. The staff were very helpful & gave excellent recommendations for restaurants. The room was clean and modern and good value. I would recommend this hotel
Good breakfast. Helpful receptionist who advised me where to eat in town and provided map. no complaints
Soundproofing is very poor. Shower is poor and ineffective
Loved everything about it. The welcome, beautiful room with balcony and fabulous view. Immaculately clean. Great breakfasts. Superb location. Nothing.
Situation excellent..hotel was smack on the beach....a lift took us from our floor to within yards of the promenade.Closeness to Dinard airport meant car unnecessary for our 5 day break...lots of nearby walks and restaurants(.Bedroom had an excellent and large double bed and cotton sheets.) Our street view room was a fair size but rather dark (despite clever and plentiful use of mirrors )and a little noisy at night.Very small bathroom and toilet....no good for big tall people!
The reception staff were so friendly and helpful, hotel was in a fanstastic position - overlooking the sea.
Lift down to beach, good location, sea side rooms have balconies Rooms facing the street can be noisy
Breakfast was excellant
Very quirky, very French. Bathroom a little dated - like your mother's bathroom in the seventies (!) but very clean and comfortable. Lovely view of beach from bedroom and superbly situated for Dinard centre for restaurants/shops. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free parking available in public carpark across the road. Very handy for boat to UK and Ireland and would use again, There wasn't really anything we didn't like. The breakfast at 12 euros was adequate - perhaps a freshly baked croissant rather than supermarket fare could be included for this price. Apart from that - all fine.
Cleanliness. Beds and towels changed very frequently and room was kept tidy without any inconvenience. Helpful advice given when required. Breakfast a bit pricey.... but Dinard itself is now an expensive town for meals and snacks. Did not have a car but parking charges are steep for those who drive.
Very prompt helpful and polite service, well organised and a very clean and tidy modernised hotel
The quality of the decor
the staff and the room I would like breakfast included
Comfortable clean and welcoming hotel in beautiful building just yards from sea front and a 30 min wallk into the old town. excellent base for a "ferry stop." No negatives
Very modern, spotlessly clean, and with room and bathroom finished to very high standards. The hotel is a stone's throw away from the sandy beach promenade and our room had a good sea view. The breakfast was also very good (ours included in price) ... Rooms are a bit expensive (we paid €135 per night for a sea side double room). The Hotel is not situated directly on the sandy beach promenade .... so the sea view is not completely unobstructed. It's about 30 mins walk to the Saint-Malo city centre, although more than half of the walk is along the traffic-free sandy beach promenade, which in fact made quite a wonderful walk.
The Villefromoy is a very well presented small hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities excellent, especially the bar area which was welcoming and thoughtfully decorated. Potential guests should know that the hotel is 35 minutes walk from the old town of St Malo. We felt that the price of drinks in the bar was excessive - a single whisky, a Baileys and a coke cost 18 euros. We had wondered why such an attractive bar area would be deserted...
Everything was fantastic! The small but lovely hotel was so comfortable and clean, well designed, well cared. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. The ocean view was great from our bedroom. It was so quiet at night that we could sleep very well with the sound of sea. The beautiful view of stars from the balcony was unforgettable! The breakfast was simple, but very delicious. We enjoyed their crispy baguette every morning. It was so nice hotel that we finally extended our stay. Love to come back there again in near the future...
Modern boutique styling within gorgeous french building - just a minute from the sea...great. Not publicised but a bonus for all returning home or stopping on the way to their main destination a secure carpark. PS Tortoise in the garden great for the little ones. No restaurant which means continental breakfast bit of a shame given the smells wafting in on the morning breeze from the neighbouring properties, but a good selection and reasonably priced compared to UK equivalents.
Very friendly and efficient staff, comfortable room, good location in quiet part of city (but some distance from the centre, about 2 miles along the sea front)
We had a very pleasant 4 day stay in September at this hotel. The hotel is situated in a very nice and calm area. The owner & staff were all very friendly and helpful. The fact that the hotel has no restaurant of its own is absolutely no problem. There are quite a few restaurants in the very near vicinity, approximately 5 – 10 minutes by car. The owner gave us upon arrival a comprehensive pack with all kinds of restaurants and map. If you like seafood you must try Brasserie du Silon, excellent and a very nice ambiance and service indeed (was recommended by the owner) The hotel does serve breakfast and also has a nice bar. Rooms were clean and well taken care off. Finding parking space during the day and in the evening was no problem. The hotel has it own private space, and in the street in front there was always place available (at least when we were there). We initially were looking for a hotel inside the old town, being in St Malo for the first time, but were ever so happy that we diverted to La Villefromoy – excellent choice!
Good location. Large bedroom A large part of the hotel has not been restored - facilities are in a very bad state for an hotel of this class. The thermes/thalasso area is not what you can expect from a spa. No attention for international guests (e.g. only French newspaper)
Very nice room Not very good information available about the hotels many faculties and how best you can use them
located on the first line of a wonderful beach magnificent swimming pools
hotel staff very nice but would probably not go there unless we took advantage of their spa packages as everyone there were in robes during breakfast and the smell of the pools and therapy were very noticable in our hallway and room. above
We liked the excellent cuisine and service at the CapHorn restaurant, but the service at "The Terrace" was a disaster. We liked the reception area, very comfortable to wait for your room to be ready, and the fact that you are right on the beach. We did not like the view from our room (actually no view at all except a big terrace) and the noise coming from the kitchens. Did they give us this room because it was at a discount price ? And also we had a rough woollen blanket on our bed instead of a soft comforter. But what we did not like at all was the sight of people in bathroom robes everywhere else than in the spa : at breakfast, in the lounge, etc... at all times of the day.
Wow we can not say enough on how splendid this hotel and all the staff are. Our only mistake was eating in a top restarant, we will eat in the splender of this hotel next time
Food in the restaurant was good
the cap horn restaurant, excellent helpful staff, the proximity to the sea and the surrounding architectural context the lack of a good hotel service pack/ guide in english that detailed all of the hotels facilities and opening hours, the hotel ambience feels a bit dated
Everything! The location on the beach was fantastic, everything about the hotel itself was very, very nice and the food was excellent.
The view. Not enough staff on duty - was kept waiting 15 minutes for check in. Our room too close to the kitchen which was noisy until almost midnight.
Beautiful view breakfast was too expensive
The Villa Reine Hortense is a beautiful hotel with charming staff and a fantastic location above the beach.
the warm welcome and friendly owners, well maintained hotel, lots of charm, a personal touch, and a lovely terrace with excellent breakfast. I can imagine that on a hot day, air conditioning would be nice.
The beautiful rooms, both public and private with classic old furnishings. Quiet location with excellent views of the beach. You have to climb down a steep set of stairs to actually reach the front door, which was tricky in the rain with a very heavy suitcase. Not handicap accessible!
The hotel is magnificently located, the tide laps at the door and the gentle sound of the tidal flow filled the room. The room was spacious and stylishly comfortably furnished. Free high speed internet access was appreciated. A quitet corner of Dinard with ready access to everything is rare and greatly appreciated.
The location of the hotel is lovely overlooking the mouth of the River Rance. The staff are friendly and the food excellent with an attractive terrace for eating or drinking.
Lovely room with great view. I think at the rate they were charging , breakfast should have been included. The rooms were incredibly noisy and it was possible to hear neighbours flushing toilets etc. The bathroom smelt of drains but admittedly when we mentioned this on departure the staff said they would look in to this.
Stayed the 13th to the 20th Sept 2009 and found the staff very friendly and helpful.Recommend you book early and ensure you have a room with a sea view like we did. Balconies on all first and second floor sea view rooms. Parking was fine but could imagine in the summer to be more difficult.
A beautifully modernised hotel in a fabulous location. Rated !0/10
Clean and tidy hotel with attentive staff. Food good. Food rather expensive.
Staff were not particularly friendly compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Dinard and was not child friendly. Could not get a reservation in the restaurant during our stay which was one of the reasons for booking this hotel. Not the hotels fault as maybe we should have made table reservations earlier however got the impression they did not like children in the restaurant. Unfortunately the room was very small and did not reflect the pictures on the website. Lack of wardrobe space and the toilet was very small - felt like you were in a cupboard!. Could only keep the windows open with the exterior blind down which blocked out all the light. Probably not an issue for someone without children but not a suitable room with children.
Great position and excellent value. Definitely to be visited again.
nice hosts, good breakfast, sea view. room a bit small
quite comfortable, very small room, the restaurant and cafe was extremely expensive for a 3 star hotel, staff very friendly. room, bed and toilet far too small. Towels too small and thin.
The location just across from the main beach is perfect and it is handy for the shops and local restaurants.
central location (though far from ferry station, 10 min walk), big rooms uncomfortable beds (they move when you move), dark in the corridors
Its location close to the beach Breakfast was expensive
close to beach and all amenities. good value for money.
A friendly and convenient base from which to search for a now-defunct hotel I stayed in as a child in 1954! Didn't dislike anything
Hotel location is excellent -just 50 metres from main beach. Rooms were small but clean and sea view was good. Hotel needed lots of tlc but could be great. Breakfast was expensive and lacked value and choice. Proprietor did not really build up any rapport, or show us the hotels rooms or its facilities or discuss the general ammenities within the resort.
100 yrds from beach, comfortable room, 24 hrs come & go. no coffee/tea making facilities in rooms (minor niggle)
Booking.com said there was private parking that is why we booked but we were told on arrival that there wa not. A little disappointing.
Great position and lovely outdoor patio area No bar!
comfortable beds, clean and functionning facilities, good breakfast, easy access to town, not too noisy pity no parking, pity no hospitality tray (tea and coffee), would like real soap.
freindly helpful staff - BBC on the TV
This hotel was very clean with standard decor. The walk to the walled town was about 15-20 minutes. It had a very nice water view.
Location was excellent, right on the beach. Ocean view room was fine.
A modern hotel with up to date furnishings and fittings right on the sea front and close to the harbour and old town. No
Helpful staff and lovely sea view. no
Ease of use Breakfast was a bit chaotic
Getting a room at 4th floor at seaside (paying more), we had a wonderfull room with a nice view. We had a fine indoor Parking. The room was excellent and the breakfast very good. We would deffinetly stay there again The price was a bit hight, but we had value for money.
room with a view to english channel - walking down boardwalk to city. had twin beds instead of a double - ensure to clarify
The location to both the beach and the walled city no tea/coffee facilities in the room
Sea-view - although it is necessary to pay a premium for this. Pleasant staff, spotless hotel.
Perfect as a base. Hotel has a very relaxed and comfortable feel about it. Hotel reception (Pascal) very friendly and helpful.
very helpful staff. hotel very basic, shower a work of art to use
The staff were more than helpful
Perfect 'stop over' hotel pre ferry - excellent location - very clean and friendly staff. Owner very friendly in advising walks / restaurants and such n/a
Staff were mostly perfectly friendly Not a single soul there had any English whatsoever. Not a problem for us but could be for many. Perhaps this is a factor that could be included? Beds not very comfortable and small towels. Shower leaked and flooded floor in bathroom.
we were warmly greeted by the most charming frenchman who owned this hotel. he was so good humoured and helpfully gave us great advice on where to visit in the area, so we saw all the best sights. the hotel is located about a kilometer outside the pretty seaside town of dinar. this is only a 10 minute walk along the quaint residential streets to the hotel, which has free parking. the room was basic, but comfortable, clean, quiet and included tv and wi-fi. it was also the best value in dinar, which for us, was one of the nicest towns in beautiful brittany.
Cleanliness, convenience, qulait yof breakfast
closeness to town nice location
the staff were very helpful and polite and welcomed us in a profressional manner
Very convenient location near centre of Dinard and a good location for the ferries from St Malo. We appreciated being able to check in and leave luggage before the designated check-in time.
