What are the pros of staying at Royal Ship?
Friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Great breakfast with great quality food. Good breakfast with great choice. Clean, location, friendly staff, great Breakfast. Very good atmosphere, clean and very nicely decorated premises. Lovely food and drinks. Lovely warm room. Dog friendly. Staff very friendly polite and professional. The evening meal, the pie was gorgeous. Clean and comfortable room with mountain view. Excellent substantial breakfast options. The property was fantastic and really worth the stay! Really good food clean room and excellent service. Booked for my 60th as wife and i had stayed in sept. Loved the location and the hotel was beautiful, a member of staff helped us and was extremely friendly despite being on the nightshift which is very impressive! Room was a good size, spotlessly clean with good selection of tea/coffee. Breakfast was excellent buffet style continental and a variety of cooked options from a menu. Excellent breakfast...very friendly staff.....great location in lovely Dolgellau. Clean and classy. Location of the hostel is good, cleanliness of the room/ hotel was good. Staff were helpful and professional. Good breakfast menu. Comfortable Charming. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The place its beautiful. All looks great fresh modern and old in the same time. Fantastic food. Room perfect. Bed was really comfy. Nice surroundings, picturesque small town. A tasty breakfast with selections of different menus. Lovely pub downstairs. Great staff and atmosphere, very dog friendly. Room was clean, modern and comfortable. Views, size of room. Our room was very comfortable with a very comfortable bed. It was good to be given daily a flask of real milk for making tea and coffee. The food we had was excellent - the quality of breakfasts was as good as I have ever had in a hotel. Nice view of main square and mountains Dogs were welcome. Nice location, good breakfast and dinner. Lovely staff. The bed was very big and comfortable. Despite being above a pub this property is so quiet! Just what I needed for an early start. Great location and the staff are just lovely. Had an amazing night with the family in this hotel after Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa). The kids adored the family room with its old world charm, and we loved the food (and beer)! If you are as tall as me you might have to duck a few times moving around but it’s a fair price to pay ;)
What are the cons of staying at Royal Ship?
Very limited parking at hotel. The bathroom was awful. Room was cold at night. There wasn’t a lounge area for hotel guests. One of the staff very grumpy, doesn’t seem to have the right attitude to help run a lovely place like the Royal Ship, was he possibly the manager or assistant manager? Anyway, I enjoyed my stay would love to go again but? A few more varieties of low, non alcoholic beers and ciders would be good. Some small signs of wear in the bathroom - some tiling strip peeling away. It would be great to see more bilingual signage as the hotel develops. There was very little Welsh language evident. We paid in advance for an en-suite room but the only accessible room had no WC, so I had to go along the corridor in the early morning to use WC. We should have got a discount. Twin room was a little tight. A little fridge in the room would be great - if people are on road trips through central and north Wales, they may have supplies with them which they need to chill. food. Requested late departure as stated in the hotel policy but this was not available for my stay. If it can’t be accommodated then it should not be advertised. Limited parking but lots of other options nearby in the village. The dinner menu is not very interesting. I believe the food is brought in by outside caterers. In the morning hot water ran out even though hotel was not full. Misses breakfast could not belive we slept through. Best night i have slept in 20yrs. A bit too cold. The room was too warm at times and hard to control the temperature, door locks a little worn, and an error with items being charged to the room that we didn't order. Twin Room rather small. Car parking was on the street, as the bar was so busy when we arrived and the car park was full. Not a problem as waiting restrictions allowed for an hour until 10am. Poor warning signs for low beams and door casings not suitable for guys over 6 ft in height, The breakfast bar was fair and would have appreciated more choice of fruit (Fresh). Heating on window open. Evening dinner. Expensive for 1 night , lunch was average quality , waitresses not terribly friendly , Lino on floor - never been to a hotel without carpet on the room floor before. Food was not good. Everything....see above! Never did see bill for dinner!! No bath. Car park limited, the room needs a deep clean. Very warm on the night couldn’t close windows and the church bells woke us up every hour. The fan wasn’t enough to keeps us cool but appreciate that it isn’t the hotel’s fault that it was a very hot day. Car park was full.
