clean tidy and very comfortable value for money room Breakfast was slow and had to ask for refill coffee twice
Friendly staff. Good Food. Lovely clean hotel. Would book again and recommend to friends.
Very helpful staff, the receptionist in particular helped with getting me a taxi from the station to the hotel when the weather was terrible. Light bulb not working in the reading lamp
Free wifi TV reception apalling
food was great and staff were friendly and efficient battery on door lock failed and we were locked out of room for 20 mins as manager who had master key was not working
My wife and I were staying at the hotel for our wedding in the adjacent Crichton Memorial Church and Easterbrook Hall. The service during our stay was excellent, but what stuck out was the food - a very high standard. The staff took care of our guests very well, no mean feat given we had pre-booked a total of 50 rooms in the hotel. They also agreed to keep the bar open late, always a winner in my eyes! Very impressed. I always like having access to leisure facilities.
My daughter I'd gettin married at the hotel n I thought it was a perfect location. The hotel will meet all our needs. Well impressed with the setting.Great breakfast. :-) Hard pillows n no bath kn the room.
The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. The pillows were quite hard, and the breakfast was cold! The tea and coffee was hidden in a cupboard!
Well-appointed rooms Staff could have been a lot friendlier
the setting is peaceful and having all the grounds of the Crichton estate makes for a green and safe environment
Central location and interestin art work nothing bad
Loaction to the Town Centre The room and the Hotel was very warm and could have done with Air Conditioning or at least a Fan provided within the rooms
A la carte menu customer handling of complaints
Excellent room facilities and breakfast
Convenience to the town centre of Dumfries Every thing was fine and suitable for the occasion
The 24hr. receptionist Breakfast, Beans were cold and fried eggs overcooked, seem to be missing a plan for how to run a multi-time multibreakfast for many people
The cairndale was a convenient stop-over location after a Scottish and overseas family re-union in the south-west.
Central location and close to railway station. Good leisure facilities. Housekeeping staff walking straight into the room without knocking first!
Pool and gym were excellent. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Rooms ok but a bit dated. Breakfast was ok but unexceptional.
i liked the location of this hotel,as it was close to the train station and the town centre.
Room was good, staff were very friendly. Arrived at hotel at 10.30am to ask if we could leave our bags prior to checking in at 2.00pm. Our room was ready and they checked us in there and then. Situated very close to town centre but still in a peaceful and pleasant area of Dumfries. None ! No complaints at all !
Can't say that I liked anything 'best' we had a very enjoyable and relaxing time and found everyone and everything to our liking.
It was quiet, the staff were very friendly and efficient without being intrusive. The breakfast was excellent again the staff were catering for every need.
Very comfortable and clean throughout, would go back again. No
Welcome, Comfort, Cleanliness and excellent food. No
Food was excellent. The room was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was little we could fault the hotel for.
The staff were very friendly & helpfull. The lounge & bistro appeared to be recent additions to the hotel and were very comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Well kept gardens & outside seating area.
The restaurant staff were particularly pleasant, helpful and welcoming.
The food - especially the excellent full breakfast! - We've suffered over the past three years with food below standard at other hotels (we take 3 holidays per year) n/a
Very friendly, spotlessly clean and well maintained TV was confusing to operate, but great to have the extra channels once I'd worked it out!
The owner of the hotel was outstanding. We were warmly welcomed, well looked after and were offered excellent advice for our further travels.
Hotel owners welcoming and responsive to need. Hotel clean and food fresh and good quality. Good value for money.
The whole atmosphere was very welcoming. The staff were very friendly and personable. The hotel was warm & cozy. We enjoyed ourselves immensely!
The friendliness and efficiency of the staff - nothing was too much trouble. The room - spacious, very clean and the extra touches ie boiled sweets, shampoo etc. The breakfast was very good and plenty of it.
The staff were excellent, hotel very clean, rooms well equipped and good location.
Could not fault in any way
Staff was great. Food was great. Accomodations were great.
Small friendly hotel - service was personalised. I would recommend highly
The hotel was spotless. The couple who owned the hotel very friendly and helpful. Nice quiet location but only 10 minutes walk to the centre of town.
Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable about the area None
Staff were very friendly, the room was good and comfortably, slight mixup re- breakfast. A good experience
Staff very attentive and welcoming unfortunately people were smoking in the rooms and corridors which makes it unpleasant for non smokers especially children
Cleaniness of the room excellent.Easy parking.pub nearby where it was possible to have a meal. No electric shaving point in the bathroom even though the room was very modern.
location, friendliness of staff, comfort no
The fact that you can chill out the next morning until mid day
All points of stay were good Had to walk a long way to room on top floor
Good facilities, comfy bed & helpfull staff. Better lighting please for hair & make up in the mornings.
Room is clean, however a some additioal items would be useful. Small fridge for cool driks, that said trhere is a machie, but this merely serves to make me think I'm in student accommodation rather than a hotel. Bathroom seals require some work.
Restaurant and pub close by. Good road access and location.
The staff were very welcoming and concerned that we were comfortable
very friendly and helpful staff
clean good food and got a worm welcome
The breakfast was gigantic
The meals were very good, room was excellent and the staff too!
Everything, you couldnt fault anything about the whole weekend, bubbley freindly, enthusiasticly run b & b, excellent decor suppurb breakfast, Should be a showcase for b & Bs thought the uk as to what standards should be, I spend 2 to 3 nights a week in b & Bs throughout England mostly with work and more expensive with higher rateings havnt got a patch on the Langlands, Thankyou very much Excellent weekend. Good job the pubs have roofs it rained every day lol.
Excellent location and grounds. Very comfortable room and public area. Peacefull walks along riverbank. Food very well presented.
the old world comfort; the log fire and the leather chairs. the food was a delight, and the staff could not do too much to help. i was also very happy to find that the pots of coffee that we had were not billed for. this little extra makes one feel welcomed even more. have been twice already in 2010 and will go again! really, there was nothing that i had a problem with
Surroundings helpful & cheerful staff price very good food N/A
The setting of the hotel very peaceful and relaxing
The setting and building was nice. . . the shower was good. Disappointed with view. . .
Great location and the food was excellent
lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings.
The food, the gardens, and the hiking were spectacular! There was an odd smell (old lamb meat??) on the first floor, and all of my belongings smelled strongly like this for the remainder of my 2 week vacation. There were also numerous small black flies in my room, which for the price seemed a little ridiculous. I didn't complain because other than that, the place was quite quaint and the gardens were gorgeous. The food was pricey, at around $55 per person for dinner (one drink and 3 courses), however delectable!
Friendly atmosphere, made to feel welcome.
Nothing, we couldn't wait to leave. Despite the fact that the hotel looks attractive & promising from the outside, inside is a different matter. Rooms are in need of updating, hotel lacked atmosphere, food & service in the restaurant was poor. Was not value for money at all & wouldn't recommend this hotel in the current state that it is in.
From arriving to leaving the hotel I was made to feel very welcome, good parking, very comfortable room, food was good fresh produce and lots of it, service with a smile at a very reasonable price....would highly recommend.
The staff were lovely, the owners friendly, they made us feel at home. Very good service, would have no hestiation to reccommend or to return. (Bar closed too early).. hahahah!!!!
frienliness staff comfort (was more pub with rooms than a hotel)
Very relaxed and courteus enviroment The freidlenes
very pleasant staff, great food especially breakfast due to the location, the local people use it as a pub, with football blaring all weekend. great if you like this , not great if you dont. gave what could be a very nice place into a pub feel with rooms as an extra. otherwise could not fault it, oh yeah great haggis
Friendliness of staff and owner. Quiet location.
Family run and very relaxed and friendly. Nothing too much trouble Nothing
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I even had my luggae carried to my room on arrival and to my car when I left. Individual cosy rooms, very clean and comfortable. Will certainly recommend to colleagues and will visit again when in the area.
friendly staff. small hotel and in a convenient location. bathroom had lots of black mould on the ceiling
We found Ken and his wife very accomodating, nothing was too much trouble, the staff are very polite and courteous, the bar food is excellent and varied, we can also recommend the full scottish breakfast, for any special occasion the restaurant and menu is a must.
the food and general relaxing ambience a glass of warm (not cold enough) white wine
With a wet week in prospect hotel selected principally on views and description of sitting rooms - would have happily spent the five days inside with a good book. Nothing about the hotel disappointed - but the weather was fine and we didn't spend much time in the sitting rooms after all! Absolutely nothing to dislike!
Quiet location, luxurious room and excellent food
Attentive staff, very pleasant lounges/ outdoor sitting area and garden, lovely room with excellent views None
None Manager very insulting and condescending,if you are over weight or wearing jeans you won't get in.
This is an excellent elegant hotel. The public rooms are fantastic as are the gardens. The service is 1st class and Angus is a fine chef. This is a special hotel with great style and comfort, We look forward to future visits when we will stay longer.
Very relaxed atmosphere. Staff very attentive and friendly. Sorry we couldn't stay longer.
Staff were very attentive and pleasant. Standard of cooking was high, but the variation in the menu was more suited to short break holidays rather than a complete week.
The hotel was excellent for a relaxing few days or even just one night. A lovely setting and a very warm welcome for all ages.
extremely friendly well trained staff in a country house atmosphere, not merely an hotel. Merals were beautifully prepared , and the room was very comfortable indeed. The surrounding country side is peaceful and attractive
