B&B Le Rideux - Durbuy - Building

9.5 Excellent (259 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely little room with a log burner. Great hosts, Couldn't do enough for us. Lovely breakfast. Huge private garden that the dog could run around in. Lovely pool although we were there in snow so cant comment on that really. Very close to Durbuy and other lovely Wallonian towns. But is you like walking in the woods you could spend a whole holiday in Heyd! The walking is fantastic. There are some great restaurants in the village and several in the village 5 minutes away too.
Cons: If you like a big room you probably need to ask for one of the other rooms. It was big enough for us though. A small double room with room for the dog bed in front of the fire.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It has a very nice garden, flemish tv, hospitality, pets are allowed and they are free to stay. Very nice and quiet neighbourhood. You can make very nice walks in the neighbourhood. The hosts were very friendly.
Cons: It's a b&b but you still need to pay for the other b (breakfast). We were surprised when we got an email with the question if we would like to have breakfast and what the price is if we like to have breakfast. We saw that they have a lot of extra facilities but also here you have to pay extra for it.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, the view, service, friendliness
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful, peaceful location and setting to get away from the world. We were very impressed that everything had been built by the owners. We stayed in a cabin type room with a log burner - a perfect November getaway. The bnb bomb was very chic, designed to a high standard and felt like a luxurious treat.
Cons: There wasn't a door on the bathroom/no shower curtain for privacy. The toilet had very thin walls. We weren't aware that breakfast or wellness were additional costs when booking. This should be made clear before booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice welcoming service and team. It was a pleasure to stay there. The room was very clean and we had the opportunity to try sauna and jacuzzi with an amazing view over the countryside. It was a very nice experience.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a very nice place for a weekend with friends or family. Over the years we’ve stayed in three different parts of the complex and all have been great. The hosts are friendly and helpful and the grounds are very well kept.
Cons: I believe there’s too little privacy for a romantic getaway. The terraces are often shared and the windows and glass doors offering a beautiful view always includes a view of somebody else’s accommodation or terrace as well. That breaks the spell a bit. Otherwise highly recommended.

Cons: If I need to give 1 remark... I'm addicted to coffee and a suggestion can be - coffee from a espresso machine is better ;).

Pros: You walk in and you meet with old friends you didn't even suspect you had!
Cons: There was nothing to dislike: the village is a little gem!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The high ceilings, tasteful decoration, small scale, nice location, comfortable beds, friendly service. The old cat given a home by the owners.
Cons: Perhaps it can be a bit noisy (being an old building) but the other guests were extremely quiet, so we did not hear a single sound at night.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast, good beds, nice location, great staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly owners who proactively informed us on restaurants in the neighbourhoud (for which a reservation is required and that definately appeared to be the case, but luckily we were warned in time) as well as activities and where to find them.
Cons: Nothing for me, although some people might find a TV in their room a welcome asset
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely breakfast, great hosts and very comfortable rooms
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very kind hosts, delicious breakfast with top quality products.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: Very nice and helpful host We liked the time we stayed with the lovely couple
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Villa Roma in order to go the F1 grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. We arrived early evening and were greeted by Linda and Robert who offered us drinks and made us feel very welcome. We were given clear directions to local places to eat and also given recommendations. Although the walk into Durbuy may be a little challenging for some we did it each night and had some very good meals there. Robert kindly loaned us some picnic chairs so we watched qualifying on Saturday in comparative comfort. Villa Roma is in situated in beautiful countryside and on Sunday morning we were greeted by the sight of a balloon festival launch which was quite spectacular in the still of the morning. Other guests included a British family who were F1 fans and they had used Villa Roma for the last 4 or 5 years which tells you something. All in all it was a super place to stay and we would like to return to explore the area further.
Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love accommodation! Stunning views of countryside!
Cons: Payment matter! As had booked with credit card on line.. But told by host I had to pay by cash! which was annoying and felt very uncomfortable about as had to find a bank the next day! Another matter was our neighbors on the balcony! Who sat in front of our door outwards!

Cons: /
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Alles was tiptop in orde!
10.0 Excellent
Cons: It was a bit difficult to find because the check-inn was not at the same address.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good location at center of Durbuy. Friendly host, who also speaks dutch and is very cooperative regarding requests. Note that address was a restaurant to 'check in' (owned by same family); room itself is located at different part of the center of Durbuy (I think even better than given address).
9.3 Excellent
Cons: Good view, room very clean and free car park
6.3 Good
Pros: The "hotel" is a room in a private house that is very nicely renovated and absolutely central.
Cons: The given address is a bar that belongs to the owner and is very difficult to find - I needed approx. 10min to understand the situation. The price is much too high for the quality of this small room with minimal extras - but well, you are central. With a good breakfast which could be offered as the bar offers this for extra-payment, the price would be acceptable but not like this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: No breakfast available, but there are many places available very close by. It’s not really a hotel, but a building with rooms available. The bedrooms are excellent, with lovely toilet and shower, very tastefully equipped and decorated. There is car parking available at the property if you can find it. There are no indications outside that it is a hotel, and I only located it by visiting the nearby tourist office and the owner arrived immediately to guide me in. If you are arriving at night and out of hours, I advise you to contact the establishment beforehand to ensure that you can find it, and get in, and locate the car park. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at le durbuysien and recommend it.
Cons: Ensure that you know exactly where you are going on the map because satnav took me somewhere else, miles away, and it required obtaining directions from locals.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: River view was great
Cons: Address listed is actually the owners restaurant, not the location of the hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very stylish and comfortable room in the heart of little Durbuy. Bed was really comfortable, great facilities, and we were able to have breakfast next door at the Hotel La Librairie in the morning (€12 pp). The owner Sebastian was very nice and helpful, helped us find the room and park, and advised us where to eat. The town itself is gorgeous, well worth a visit, even in the rain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Le Durbuysien is simply fantastic. It is right in the heart of Durbuy, a stone's throw from all of the restaurants and shops in town, and the walking/hiking trail heads. The staff is very friendly, the bed is deluxe, and the room is quite spacious for 1-2 people. We highly recommend this to other travelers!
Cons: The coffee in the room can be better, though you are a 1 minute walk away from very good coffee in cafes and restaurants.

Cons: Not much to do in the area out of season.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Very hot in room. Pillows on bed very uncomfortable had to sleep with no pillows which gave me a very bad headache
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and comfortable. Excellent location. Good tea and coffee making facilities. Good bathroom. Small but useful kitchenette. Off street parking. Good communication from owner.
Cons: Was rather warm and not easy to turn underfloor heating off. Owner responded promptly to my note and hopefully it will be sorted. A bit complicated to get all the power sockets to work. Need to have two master switches turned on at the same time, the one by the front door and the other beside the bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There is a private parking, monoply to play with the kids and fully equipped apartment. Location is perfect, right in the middle of durboy.
Cons: The only downside is that there is no elevator, but there are rooms in the first floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good place to spend a weekend away from home. Private, quiet, but in the middle of Durbuy, close to the best restaurants. Also, good garden where kids can play.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room (middle floor), the location, and the views were beautiful. Everything was clean and our host was friendly. Having the bed's headrest look a bit like a 'banner' was a nice touch, and our 4 month old baby liked the baby bed too. The private park was a nice bonus! I'm quite picky when it comes to pillows and temperature, but I was very happily surprised: The pillows were exactly right for me (not too thin, not too fluffy), and at night, the bed/living room had a perfect fresh room temperature, while the bathroom was still nice and warm! I've never had that experience in any hotel or B&B before, normally I always need to adjust the temperature and get used to the pillows. But this was already perfect - and not just for me, my wife was happy with it as well. The room and parking are really inside the city, which makes it such a great location. However, please keep in mind that the city itself consists of very small and curvy streets. So getting into the city and out of the city can be tricky with a bigger car, especially when you encounter obstacles blocking the roads. When we tried to leave Durbuy (this was on a Monday morning during Christmas market season), a cargo truck was blocking the main exit street. The driver said he would be there for at least another hour, and refused to move for us, but he said we could drive past him and exit that way. However, once we drove past him, we noticed a van was parked there and blocking that entire street as well, so we were trapped between them. The only way out was to wait, or to reverse back up the curved small streets, which I somehow managed to do. After arriving back at the room's parking entrance, I had to turn to another street and pass two more parked cars that blocked parts of the small streets. Luckily in the end we made it out of the city without a scratch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was as represented with the property and then some! We were delayed in our expected arrival, but communication with the host was always excellent and helpful. What a great host and property..we loved our time at Chateau Cardinal!

7.5 Good
Pros: The B&B is in a beautiful, small village, 10min drive from Durbuy. We really enjoyed the environs and the beautiful garden. Breakfast was also nice.
Cons: We were given the room on the ground floor, next to the breakfast room. In the morning we were awaken early because of the noise other guests made from upstairs. Also, the bathroom has a really funny door, not exactly made for that frame and therefore not giving much privacy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: great bed very confi ane nice breakfast. simple but fresh.
Cons: location not optimal if you dont have a car or u want to go for a walk. we also thought that the B&B had a garden/green area shared with guests (as shown in one of the picturee) but assume it was private for owners.

Pros: The owners were delightful. The room was comfortable and view nice. I really loved the quiet of the back of the hotel and the location.

Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If I am in Durbury, I always try to book a room at Hotel La Caleche! It is centrally located, has rooms with all modern comforts, including ipad, huge shower and LED lighting. Even though it's in the heart of Durbury, it's very quiet at night. They do a nice breakfast in the morning and the staff are very friendly. It's also excellent value for money.
Cons: Everything you could want but some plant milk at breakfast and gluten free bread would be nice.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Second time I have stayed at Hotel La Caleche. Very comfortable rooms and nice bathroom with huge shower. Everything is very clean and full of all amenities. Central location in Durbury.
Cons: If you are a Vegan, the breakfast is really limited (I don't think they even have plant based milk.) There is bread and jams and some fruit, but not worth the 12Euros.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were very interesting, with a very modern control system.
Cons: It was a bit expensive, but so was the entire city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hotel, friendly helpful staff, awesome location, quirky comfortable room, yummy breakfast and excellent bar and restaurant attached in middle of town.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located well in a nice old village with many attractions The rooms are OK, but try to get a room with the bathroom on the same level, as the internal steps are a bit problematic at night Breakfast was very good, and included DIY waffles Stuff was very helpful and polite
Cons: The rooms that includes the bathroom on the second floor (some of our friends recieved those rooms) are not so convinient
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was light and sleek and very clean. We got the small room but it did not feel crowded at all. The bath was up stairs which was fine for us. The area around the hotel was teeming with activity, and the street was lined with sidewalk restaurants. Wish we could have stayed longer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was comfortable and modern. The bathroom and shower were spacious. The hotel was centrally located. The parking was close to the hotel and easy to find. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The tablet that controlled lights, window, blinds, etc. were written in French and Dutch so I had a hard time figuring out how to use it. It might be helpful to also provide instructions in English.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very wellcoming staff. The hotel is located in the hearth of Durbuy. All comfort you need in the room. Great restaurant. Good value for money.
Cons: Nothing really.

7.0 Good
Pros: Perfect location in Durbuy, super central can walk anywhere. Breakfast is delicious. The new building is beautiful, the restaurants are delicious. Staff is friendly.
Cons: The old part of the building is definitely in need of renovation, so it gives a less good feeling about your value for money when staying there. There were some big spiderwebs in our room when we arrived, which gave the impression that the cleaning was not done thoroughly (even though the rest was overall very clean) and the safe was broken and couldn't be opened anymore...
5.0 Okay
Pros: there was a lot of noise till 3.15 AM from 11.00 pm previous evening. Nightwatch came and ask other guests to calm down but nothing happened. Finally my wife shouted at 3.00 am and slowly it become more quiet. I had called a few times to ask to keep voices down. Hotel offered 50 % discount and now bill and card deduction came from a price which is higher than I booked ( I booked for 188 and finally was billed 213 plus tax ) coffee in the room mentioned complimentary but was charged at 5 euro per cup to our surprise...; anyway plenty of other hotels in Durbuy to go next time.....
