Pros: You won't find a better location for staying. The view from the room was beautiful and the area was so tranquil. Siobhan, the host, was so helpful, she gave us tips for all the best restaurants and local attractions and about the lesser known places all worth a visit. The freshly cooked breakfast was so tasty and wholesome, that you would look forward to having it all day. Also the place was so clean and comfortable that you did not want to leave to go outside. All in all a brilliant location and stay, no negatives whatsoever.

Pros: Siobhan provided a lovely place to stay. We had a suite & our girls had their own room. Both were excellent. The breakfast was fantastic, with fresh squeezed juice & freshly baked breads, cheeses, meats, cold options & cooked to order hot options. The views of the bay were terrific. Not many TV stations to choose from, but this is not a place to sit & watch TV. Siobhan even offered to ship me my rain jacket I had left in the town of Bantry. Lovely place! You'll not go wrong staying there.

Recommended if you want to see the Rings of Beara / Kerry, go to Killarney National Park and Muckross House or visit Mizen Head.

7.9 Good
Pros: The view was wonderful and host great and frriendly
Cons: It was a bit too remote if you wanted to go for a drink at night. The sceenery was soectacular however
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a last-minute substitution when the hotel we had originally booked FINALLY told us they didn't have a life (I had been asking for 3 weeks) and one of us can't do stairs. The owner, Julia, responded immediately after I booked to tell us a little about the property and send us REAL driving directions, as virtually all SatNavs get it wrong and take guests on a miserable drive over something literally called--and literally being--The Goat Path. BUT...we had failed to note that message in time, and so The Goat Path it was. When we got there, I was frazzled. Julia Bird, the owner, noticed, invited me to go into the lounge and said she'd bring tea right away. She did....and the sweet milky tea and home-made biscuits restored both my energy and my belief in humanity. Then she suggested a place for dinner only ten minutes away on the harbour AND she picked up the phone and called them. She must have told them one of us couldn't do stairs because their dining room is up one flight, but we were seated in the pub section on the ground floor, ordinarily not open to booking as we found out the next day when we booked it ourselves. When we explained, they said, fine, they were happy to accommodate. Thank goodness for Julia, because the food at that restaurant, Arundel's By the Pier in Akahista, Bantry, Ireland, is exceptional. I had possibly the best fish I have ever eaten there...but I digress. Our room at The Carbery came with its own terrace and garden; we could even let our dog loose there with no fear. It was a sunny weekend, so we also sat out there a bit and looked at the bay and the chickens that hopped up on the fence from time to time, and the two ponies in the field below. The chickens and a duck or two provide eggs for the breakfast; the ponies are just because. Breakfast, cooked by co-owner Mike, is lovely, too.
Cons: There is nothing I didn't like. Indeed, despite not caring my for the far south of Ireland, I'm planning a week there, booked in the same room, so I can do lots of drawings of the bay and the chickens and ponies. And, of course, to bask in the care provided by Julia Bird and Mike Hegarty, the owners.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Could not have been better. ! Julia and Mike are THE perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble we will definitely be back
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful room, fantastic location, perfect hosts, loved the chickens, geese, ponies
Cons: we liked everything about it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at the lodge for a fortnight and loved every minute of it. The breakfasts were outstanding with well-cooked, locally sourced food and plenty of choice, but what we enjoyed most of all was the warm welcome and being made to feel very much at home. The lodge is in an ideal spot for touring outstanding scenery along the Wild Atlantic Way, with marvellous views across the sea inlets. We can recommend our experience warmly to would-be travellers in West Cork.
Cons: The weather was not what we had hoped for - cold for the time of year, but nevertheless it didn't affect our enjoyment of the holiday.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the self contained cottage, which is Ideally located as a base to explore the southwest of Ireland. The facilities are excellent and Julia and Mike are incredibly knowledgeable tour guides, as well as jolly nice people. We only found time for one breakfast in the hotel, which is a shame as it was stunning! The place is also very pet friendly.

Pros: Friendly Hosts, beautiful view, great tasting food, the house with personality, books, the silverware :)
Cons: All good
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything we could possibly need was thought of. Great linens.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location about 1 mile outside the pleasant/popular village of Durrus at the mouth of Bantry bay sea inlet and by the side of the quiet coast road to Sheep's head peninsula. Hosted by a lovely family, led by a very capable/friendly 'Gloria' who deserves praise for showing her well honed B&B skills at every turn making us very welcome for our three night stay. Large room with comfy bed and all modern amenities. Excellent breakfast fresh cooked each day served to restaurant standard, with fresh fruit, tea, toast & cereals, (by the third day I was reduced to ordering just bacon and eggs as I couldn't manage the full Irish). Gloria had good local knowledge guiding us to great local places to eat our evening meals and places to visit. Glad we stayed for 3 nights and we hope to return in the future.
Cons: Sorry Gloria I should have mentioned while still there the toilet seat in our bathroom was too small and (my pet hate) loose.
6.3 Good
Pros: It was ok but have been in much better 9.2 rating on booking.com far exceeds its true rating should be compared to others
Cons: Only took cash and advised when arrived En-suite had no extraction fan
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, hospitable and accommodating host. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom, hotel worthy amenities in bedroom, lovely view and great breakfast.
Cons: Not a negative for most but worth noting for people with limited mobility that car park is at the rear of the property with a steep gravel path to the front door which opens straight onto a road, also property is 3km from Durrus Village itself along a dark, narrow road (which cars travel on too fast!) so location won't suit people who fancy walking to the village for dinner or a drink in the local.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!! It was a perfect stay. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The views were spectacular and Gloria made us feel at home right when we arrived. The breakfast was amazing!! We can’t wait to come back!!

Pros: Very nice B&B. View over the port. Walking distance to town, pub and restaurants. Close to sheeps head way. It was perfectly worth to come out for just one night and not stay in Cork another night just waiting for my flight the next day. Thx.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place! Very clean and amazing breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved this B&B! It was right in the town centre so you could easily walk to places to eat, drink and shop. I'm a complete travel planning nerd so I like to check out places on Google street view. If you are like me, you will be very surprised when you arrive. The outside has been updated with fresh paint, the inside of the house looks like it has also been redone recently. There is a large sitting room on the first floor as soon as you walk in. The foyer is very inviting. It brought a smile to my face walking in the front door. We had a twin room on the 2nd floor that faced the street. It was a great view and offered a breeze coming into the windows off of the water. We got there early enough to get a parking spot right out front on the street. If you miss that opportunity there is a parking lot right across the street. It looked like it was free to park there. I didn't notice a pay and display kiosk. The beds were very comfortable. Our host was fantastic! I really enjoyed chatting with him. He asked what our plans were for the day. When I told him he gave me a great suggestion. He said we should drive the entire Beara Way route rather than cutting it short. That was the best suggestion we had the entire trip!! Thank you! If you make a right out of the front door and walk towards the bay you will find a very nice paved walkway along the water. We really enjoyed the walk. Keep an eye out for seals! The only thing I didn't like was the amount of traffic that drove by all hours of the night. I thought it was an odd amount of traffic for a dead end road. If noise like that doesn't bother you then it won't be a big deal. I'm just a light sleeper.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location. Comfortable if basic accommodation. Very clean and comfortable beds. The breakfast was wonderful, not cooked, but wide selection of lovely food. The host was very welcoming and happy to be helpful. I would stay again.
Cons: For the price it was good. If you expect a tv or coffee and tea provided in your room it is not for you and it was a little noisy. However, we had a good night and would stay again.

Pros: The staff were so friendly . Went there with my sisters for birthday celebration weekend.. Breakfast was great...freshly cooked with plenty choice
7.1 Good
Pros: The location is absolutely perfect. The room was small but well laid out with nice big bright windows.
Cons: The room did not seem as clean as it could have been. There was a strange brown smear high up on the wall and the white bedding had some stains in it. Also, it was so incredibly loud. You could hear everything. The sound from the pub below, the sound from the alley next to us, someone walking down the hallway, someone flushing the toilet in the room next to you. We were there on a saturday night so the pub was busy below us, might be better to stay there during the week when it is a little quieter.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff, food, location excellent.
Cons: Room was a little noisy and view not very inspiring.Lack of lift would be inconvieenient for some people.

Pros: The manageress was most helpful in moving us from the 3rd floor to the 2nd floor and are very open to the fact that theirs is a B&B above a nightclub
Cons: When the nightclub closed one of our party was briefly woken by noise above.

Pros: Very friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was lovely. Room was very comfy.
Cons: We were on the top floor and there was no lift...not a problem for most but one of our group has knee issues and struggled a bit. Having said that we very much appreciated the room as we had traveled down to bantry because of a family emergency.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good and had as good a selection as I've seen in a hotel, the bar was nice and cosy too. Our room was in the more modern extension of the hotel and was quite spacious and clean. Checking in and out was very quick and there was a great overall relaxing feeling to the hotel.
Cons: The parking was a bit chaotic but I believe there was a big event that was on during our stay so it wouldn't be a huge complaint. And I believe there was parking for long vehicles such as RVs which is a great idea. Location is a bit out of the town but that could be a positive as there was peace and quiet.
