The fabulous peace and tranquillity of the setting There was a minor problem with the heating in the room
helpful receptionist nice grounds restaurant staff not particularly polished or attentive. Shockingly weak grey tea at breakfast in flasks ; needed several more teabags
Bathrom had wallpaper hanging off the walls and a crack in the ceiling. Would be upset if the room rate was not dicounted
Beautiful setting with lovely grounds. Excellent breakfast although coffee was a bit weak. Creaky floor upstairs meant you could hear people moving around. TV not fully functioning in 'annexe' bedroom (Only some satellite channels working). No room service breakfast menu.
Comfortable good sized room, staff friendly, service good, breakfast very good. although it was february the heating in the room was rather overpowering and the heating/water pipes were very noisy.
The hotel was very clean with nice décor and public areas, Tea and coffee in the room. A good price including breakfast. Nothing was explained on checking in. We were given a disabled room as that's the only twin rooms that they have. It was not suitable for us. The beds were so narrow that you nearly fell out!
The rooms were sleek, had all the expected comforts, the lobby was welcoming, and the staff was very friendly.
the room was huge. the shower was very hot and I couldn't get it any colder
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant meal was very good and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the bar afterwards. Our room was very comfortable and the parking was close to the accommodation.
the room was lovely, spacious, clean and very comfortable
The hotel was very clean and most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the impression of a family-run business and things ran very smoothly. There was a good choice of meals in the restaurant and the food was good and not really expensive. There was a wonderful choice of breakfasts included in the price. I was disappointed that there was not a hair dryer in the guestroom but this may have been due to previous bad experiences on the part of the hotel. Both myself and my husband thought that the room was a bit on the expensive side for a quiet country town like Abergavenny. However, this may in part be explained by the poor rate of exchange between the pound and American dollar.
Lovley large room separate from the main hotel and the busy road. Lovely garden to look out onto from the restaurant. A few things didn't work that well - the TV, the lights in the bathroom and the facilities in the bathroom - small basin, nowhere to put your things.
Beautiful surroundings and very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent restaurant which you should not miss!
Great breakfast, friendly staff, big room, excellent decorative order, newly furnished None
Friendly, good service, comfortable, good value, good 'Welsh' breakfast (i.e. no baked beans because they don't grow them in Wales . . .) Bit close to the A40. Main hotel sign should be black-on-cream not vice versa (looks like a blackboard).
The food was good as were the rooms. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. After a long day in the mountains and moors it was disappointing that food could not be served in the rooms.
A nice welcome and hassle free stay No evening meals , but the staff gave us directions to a nice place near by
Quiet, relaxing, beautiful surroundings, comfortable bedrooms, excellent breakfast, pleasant staff.
Glanryney is simply charming.
Gorgous house and gardens, good level of information on local attractions and walks, selection of books appreciated due to poor weather at the time. Fine selection of fruit, cerials, jiuces and yoghurt if a full engligh breakfast is not to your taste. Tv reception very poor as aerial connector damaged but as we are not fond of tv we were glad to find the radio worked for Radio 4.
Go to this hotel if you want to stay in a typical ' country house' . Think 'Homes and Gardens' and you have it about right. It is a large Georgian House in a lovely setting with pleasant gardens and the rooms are comfortable. The whole house is filled with antiques and there are large sitting rooms and an honesty bar so you won't be stuck in one room. We've been back twice.
beautiful country house, quiet and peaceful location, individual character, good service, walking in brecon beacons, lovely pub nearby. The bed was very comfortable. Romantic place to stay. My partner prefers a more contemporary accomodation but I loved its charm and character with chairs by the fire and old books to flick through, and free standing bath to soak in
The B&B Is spot on excellent clean rooms with excellent service.
Very well looked after thank you - really good breakfasts!
breakfast was brilliant could n't get telly to work on 2nd night.
Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfast. Not having a restaurant means having to go elswhere to eat evening meals, as a business customer that's a bit of a nuisance.
Very clean bedroom & bathroom, in fact pristine. Good sized bedroom and en-suite, well laid out. Very neutral, tasteful decor. Very comfortable bed. Excellent parking facilities. Beautiful rural location. Excellent breakfast. There was nothing I disliked about the guest house. I selected the guest house for the location. I would have preferred a hotel with lunch & dinner on the premises.
informal and friendly atmosphere nothing
Rooms were clean and modern and the breakfast was good No hot water at 6.00 in the evening. No access to the hotel when we arrived on Saturday afternoon (having been told that the earliest check in was 2.00 we were surprised to find a note on the door at 3.00 saying " back in one hour"). We found somewhere to have a hot drink at the nearby national park but had quite a lot of time to kill which was not ideal after a long journey.
Friendliness of staff
Lovely place to stay, nicely decorated very relaxing. Good choice of breakfast, very pleasant time will be going back again.
Clean and freshly painted, lots of toiletries in bathroom, comfy bed. Breakfasts are fantastic. Hosts very knowledgable about area and always helpful and willing to give advice. Hosts work hard to ensure a peaceful stay for everyone. Slow to top up orange juice at breakfast, floor boards in room above were creaky, didnt help having 2 gorillas bounding about which is not Coach House fault. Minor, very minor fault picking really.
Friendly atmosfere.Clean.Wonderful garden. No
Very clean, stylish and comfortable, good food.
The staff was helpful, the room was clean & homely.. Food was also brilliant.. Highly recommended
Good personal service and standard of rooms excellent. Easy to find and located within easy walking distance of the town centre. Parking limited.
The garden was pleasant and well cared for, a definite asset The food was poorly prepared and the menus exaggerated the meals
the bar area was very nice and evening staff were friendly. the bathroom wasn't up to a standard of cleanliness
very friendly staff, gorgeous food and will be returning NA
easy access to town and interesting areas of brecon the member of staff handling breakfast appeared to be alone and therefore the meal was slow with food running out several times with quite a wait for replenishment
Great ambiance and atmosphere, old world charm with modern amenities, a little quirky with slightly sloping floors but that added to the charm of the place. Our room was right beside a cupboard with some kind of noisy machinery inside that you could hear from our room, but despite our fears it didn't keep us awake.
The hotel was in a central location of the town with outstanding views of the Brecon Beacons
The view from the room windows was absolutely great. The ambience of the room was pretty good too (when the heating WAS working! We had no heating in the room on the mornng or our stay, with -11 outside it was a bit nippy!
It was very expensive for all that was available.
Hotel was very well located. Food was very good and the general ambience of the public areas - bar and restaurant - was similarly good. I would certainly stay again, although might not go for a superior room, as it did not feel overly superior! Tatty coathangers in the wardrobe, not one of which was suitable to hang trousers
Lovely food from the bar, great breakfast and lovely views from our room. Bed was hard and uncomfortable.
I would say that the bed mattresses would have to be changed they are quiet bad to be honest. It would have been perfect to have propper loggs for the fire.
The owners of the cottage are excellent. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful, wonderful people. Area is quiet, green, relaxed, the house is so cozy, interior is just more than you expecting from the pictures. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and definitely would pick the same place when i go there next time.
Very homely and comfortable. None
Very pleasant owners. Excellent views over the valley. Good parking off road outside the cottage. Good walks for dog owners and walkers alike. Sat Nav says you have arrived half way up hill when the accommodation is at the top. The actual signs for the cottages are very small and could easy be missed.
Very warm and remote None
Lovely environment. Returned for the fourth time now. The cottage (Glas) represents excellent value for money and is nice and cosy. We always enjoy lighting the log fire burner. There are walks in the local area where we exercised the dog. Richard is a lovely bloke and will go out of his way to make you feel welcome. Shower and kitchen tap were a little erratic but worked fine after leaving them on for a bit.
The cottage was lovely. The under floor heating was excellent and the I really liked the decor. We normally eat out every evening but we just wanted to stay in and enjoy the cosy cottage. Location was great if you enjoy rural surroundings with the added bonus of a Tesco and Asda just a 10 mins drive way. The cottage could do with a clean lots of cobwebs.
Excellent accomodation, vith absolutely beautiful views.
unobtrusive style and comfort- the pictures- the setting and the food
Loved the relxed country house style, like staying in someone else's home. A very peaceful stay. Staff welcoming and friendly. Would have preferred the dinner menu to have changed more frequently. The quality of food was good but the lack of variety may be a problem for stays of more than a few days.
From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and at home. Without exception the staff were delightful, it is difficult to fault it for the price. Also for the price the food was very good indeed. All in all very comfortable and relaxing. The car park which is outside the entrance to the Hotel was a sea of muddy water which made an awful mess on the inside of our car on departure. For a hotel of this standard it should be a solid surface. It would also benefit from some lighting. The location map on the agencies website is incorrect, it shows Llangoed hall on the A470 South of Brecon just before the Village of Lebanus.
the polite and really helpful staff and size of the bedrooms and beutiful set out gardens
The seting of the Hall was wonderful and the food was excellent. We did find the hotel quite warm but do understand the need to keep temperature at a certain level
Equisite feel of a country house
The atmosphere of staying in a luxurious private house, with gourmet food to match and unobtrusive but attentive staff.
Pool and sauna. Buffet breakfast Poor selection of Beer. Beer Expensive. Poor lounge facilities.
Friendly Staff. Public areas are tired.
Rooms were modern, clean and seems to have been recently refurbished Public areas and hallways seems in need of an update. No bar staff at times to serve drinks
clean, friendly and very welcoming. The english breakfast was lovely. The television didnt work.
good food fusty smell in corridors & room
The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable.Loved the 'Loft' where breakfast was served. Minor points: Filling in the cracks in the bedrooms and ensuring the towels don't still have mascara residue on them. Other that that only that it just wasn't long enough!
Good breakfast, good range of leisure club facilities, very pleasant staff Nothing specific, just felt it needed some tlc and some cosmetic touches... there were letters missing from the sign, decor in the corridors needed touching up.
Our room was right next to a generator or motor of some kind and was very very noisy during the night. I told the hotel staff and they knew but they didn't give us a reduction in room price or anything. Very disappointing for the price.
Comfortable room , able to take well behavied dog, suitabllity to tour area.
Area in "pub" for relaxing and reading. Food was fine.
Stayed in Rm 2 and the view from the balcony was great. A bit of river on the left and a mountain side right in front. The wine list was good. Fire place in the bar was nice. The shower was not great. Hot and cold control was a bit difficult to control. The food was excellent but not cheap. Afternoon tea was 12£ but not great. Buffet style with no table service.
This is one of the best Hotels I have ever stayed in .Great staff great food great accomadation great setting .Top Class owner.Well done. No everything was perfect
Being able to relax - food was excellent Spoke to a member of staff regarding a minor complaint/observation which I felt was not taken on board.
The peacefulness of surroundings and the planting added to the already luxurious presentation and decoration within the hotel. We did not have a kettle on arrival in our room. Kettle duly replaced with a very dirty lead and comments as to they did not know where the original kettle had gone. I am disabled and had to walk upstairs to get to our room. Positively my luggage was taken to the room.
The friendly and very helpful service. There was nothing to dislike.
The huge log fires were very welcoming. There is a country house feel about the hotel. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming Can't think of anything I did not like. Not a thing.
A fabulous place to stay in the countryside with beautiful grounds and a walk by the river. Lovely rooms to relax in and most helpful staff.
i loved the location the views were great the food was fantastic the staff wre very helpfull. nothing
Staff were exceptionally friendly and effiicient.Food was excellent. We were travelling with a small baby and everyone went out of their way to help us and make us feel at ease. Susan and James the proprietors were just first rate.
all the leisure facilitys
there was nothing to dislike. The setting, the ameneties, the service...all good
A warm and 'full of character' hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The room was comfortable and a decent size and the food was excellent. A good choice of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fantastic views as well.
Relaxing Swimming pool ou of use at time of stay
I had a very spacious room. The bed was very comfortable.
Staff friendly and accommodating. One got the feeling they enjoyed their job. We were in room 5 at far end of hotel. It took at least 5 minutes for hot water to reach shower or wash basin and it only trickled through.
The room was excellent and view superb. Only stayed 1 night would like to have stayed longer. Meal on the evening could have been a hotter but food was enjoyable.
Staff were friendly and helpful.Food was locally sourced and very good.Room was comfortable with great view.
Staff were very friendly, food was good. Hot water was too hot in the taps
Location and view
Staff offered cooked breakfast well before official start time.
It was very clean and comfortable and the food was excellent in both choice and presentation nothing
Breakfast, lovely pretty hotel Wifi in room was not working, no aircon
Cleanliness, food & bar excellent Bed built at same time as hotel central heating system needs bleeding, sound of dripping all night
We really enjoyed our stay at The Bear hotel. The room was lovely with one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in and the food was out of this world. We would definately go back to Crickhowell. Heating was not put on in our room when we had been out for the day, but we soon sorted that out
The staff had an excellent balance between friendliness and politeness. Loved the menu and wished we were staying longer so we could try more things. The bed was just a little too soft for us - but that's a very personal preference.
Excellent shower Good food Friendly staff Bit too hot - especially at night and in breakfast room.
Spacious room Minor problems in bathroom: toilet seat wouldn't stay up, I don't like shower curtains over baths.
Lovely Hotel, full of character, very comfortable, great food, excellent staff. No negative comments
It was just a totall awful experience- It was dirty, my husband and I rolled to the center on a full mattrees- It was filthy. They actually had stapled the fabric on the chair together and it had pulled apart- you felt the springs in the chair and the mattress- oh my gosh this was the worst hotel we have stayed in in years- I would not ever suggest sending anyone here again! Just terrible!!!
