Friendly, did the job I wanted it for, motorbike parking questionable.
Rough area but ok.
Bed very comfortable and made use of tea making facilities. The owner was a nice helpful guy. Good location . Good access to lower town.
No TV in single room and shower wasn't working downstairs, engineer called. (was one upstairs that I used) £50 was a bit expensive for a very basic single room with no en suite But it was fringe time. A bit neglected.
The location provided easy access to Edinburgh. The beds and towels were clean.
The shared bathroom was awful and hadn’t been refurbished for decades. The woodwork was stained and dirty; there was no surface to put things on, despite there being plenty of space; there was a dirty old mop and bucket in the corner. At checkout time, we couldn’t visit the bathroom due to someone being in there - after waiting 20 minutes, we just had to leave. In the bedroom, there were no bedside tables and no lamps - just the central ceiling light. The window was sealed up so couldn’t be opened, so the air was stale and the room too hot to sleep in. The back garden was overgrown with brambles and willowherb - clearly not touched for years. We stayed only because I knew we’d struggle to find alternative accommodation during Edinburgh Festival weeks, otherwise, on arrival, I would have asked for my money back. The whole place had an air of neglect - in complete contrast to every other guest house on the road. I really don’t know how the owners dare to invite people to stay - I didn’t think places like this still existed. I will never return and am surprised that you keep such accommodation on your books - I assumed you vetted them for suitability and standards. I will be much more vigilant when booking through you in future.
Very clean bedding and towels. Great rice for the location. It was only a 10 minute walk to the top of Princes Street. Free street parking outside.
The downstairs shared bathroom could have been cleaner: mould around bath sealer , dirty skirting boards . ( the soap / toothbrush holders near the sink just need throwing out as they're revolting) . Looks like it's an old student flat which hasn't been fully cleaned. The actual bath, sink and toilet were very clean themselves. The upstairs shared bathroom was totally fine.
