The staff was extremely friendly. The location is perfect, right in the center, with the ski bus in front of the door, ski school office and information center across the street, nice restaurants and a supermarket nearby. The swimming pool and wellness are perfect. We will return ! With our dog - he liked it too :-)
The hotel is located near the town center and the ski bus pick up point. Very good breakfast facilities in the morning. Apart from lack of follow thru on promised adjustment of room rate for kids, the hotel has only one PC in the lobby for internet access. This is clearly not sufficient for for potentially 150 plus users.
Horrible and a highly overpriced hotel.. No services, no coffee maker in a hotel room rated 4 star. Also staff very ineffective.they charge05 francs for a bowl of hot water to sterilise the childs spoon. Everything.
Booked a superior double room located at upper floors with excellent views over the mountains. Excellent location, ski shuttle in front of the hotel, fair breakfast though under a 4-star usually offers and a little bit overpriced but overall good hotel.
The staff were excellent , extremely helpful and courteous , went out of there way to make you feel welcome Pillows ( if you can call them that ) . Shower head was useless
good sauna facilities
The bed was very hard and uncomfortable
We liked the location and the breakfast.
Staff were very friendly, especially in the dining room. Very tolerant of children Cleaning staff could have been better
breakfast, friendly staffs and location sauna should be separate between man and woman.
Corridors and bathrooms are clean but a little too shabby.
Lively hotel - lots going on Booked two twin rooms but on arrival had one large four bedded room, wasn't suitable but hotel was full. Did give some discount but only after asking and would have preferred the rooms we booked.
The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. They made my husband's birthday very special. There was always something going on and they did their best to entertain their guests. The all inclusive drinks were horrible. You had three choices, white wine, red wine and beer. We ended up sticking with the beer because the wine was disgusting. The food was great two out of the three nights we were there. All the food was served buffet style and you shared your table with other guests. We met some great families but there was no intimate dinner time. Our ski guide was very nice but was not accommodating for beginning skiers. They make it clear they are not a "ski school". It's obvious they want to ski the more difficult hills than show the easier beginner hills. Therefore, If you are an experience skier you will have a blast but if you are still learning, you should stay away from the ski guide.
just views. It was awful. restaurant was so busy. staff was unkind. There are a lot of group tourist. I was unhappy. to find hotel was so difficult.
The food (buffets) were good quality and good value. Excellent view over the town to the mountains. The lift facility right from the town to the hotel is very handy. The room was very basic and the en-suite shower/washbasin/toilet really needed refurbishing. Adequate for a week's skiing, but not a room to spend much time in.
smoking lounge the rooms are terrible. smaller than a tuna fish can! one light bulb in the bathroom. smallest bed ever seen. the staff is very rude. wireless only at the lobby. low quality breakfast.
Good situation, nice view, big breakfast, proposing many activities Small room but still ok. At restaurant no possibilities to sit on a 2 or 4 place table. Only big tables for 10 people.
The Hotel Terrace has a great view, and the trolley made it very easy to reach town.
The location, the sauna, and the price
the front desk was very helpful, the room we stayed in was particularly quiet away from the rest of the hotel and even though a very small room, had a nice view of the mountain the breakfast buffet quality was good, but the other meals were buffet steam table type, cafeteria type food.
everything was just great!
Everything about the Garni Hostatt was wonderful. After travelling around Europe/UK for some time, staying some great hotels and B&Bs, we really wanted to spend Christmas in a place that provided a feeling of home. The Garni more than met this need. The warm greeting on arrival immediately set the scene for the next 5 days. Our room had amazing views across the snow to the mountains and was warm, comfortably and scrupulously clean. We just loved the walk into the town so much that we never even considered taking the Engelberg free bus service. We now dream of returning to Engelberg and if we are lucky enough to do so, our first choice for accommodation is the Garni Hostatt.
I really enjoied my stay at Garni Hostatt. Nice and polite staff, clean bedroom, good location (just 15 mins to the village by walk or 5 mins by free bus, only 5 mins to the closest ski station), delicious breakfast and the owner drove us (lift) to Engelberg train station when we left the hotel. The owner gave us very good tips about the village, where eat, have fun, rent ski equipament, etc.
The views of the mountains and town from the rooms was spectacular and the staff were really helpful with local knowledge and advice.
We opted for a large double and it was well worth the extra space. We had beautiful views of the mountains from our windows and a small balcony to sit and gaze. Very clean facilities with communal coffee making facility that you could use at any time. The breakfasts were adequate. The rooms very clean. The hotel is in a quiet location, a stroll from the centre of Engelberg. No complaints
Friendly staff, lovely breakfast, beautiful setting, clean facilities, nice room, great to be able to purchase drinks for a reasonable price to take to the room. Only negative was the bathroom in our room, it was very very small and really let it down.
Excellent Hotel, fantastic view on mountains. Very clean.
pleasant helpful people in the hotel, nice breakfast, good area for a range of activities. better to have a car but not essential especially if you enjoy walking.
it is a very quiet location, small place, very clean but a bit expensive
Spacious room, great views of the mountains, nice walk into town, good breakfast, free coffee and tea making facilities which was quite nice. Booked a medium sized room, didn't look like what was in the picture, green carpet, no floor boards. Asked about wifi and didn't tell us about the free wifi, only about the chargeable one. Maid started to clean our room as if we were staying another night (i.e. made the beds), had to explain to her we were checking out so we need to go into our room and pack our bags.
Atmosphere:very kind and warm. Staff is very helpful. Air! I would say air is"delicious"! Sauna should work more hours! We didn't use it because returned to hotel after our trip very late
100% freindly staff ( alexandra(with her dogs) + Matina and selivea (beautiful lady on breakfast area) hotel style and design, all of these giving the feelings that you are in your home with your family. you should be back to your hotel before darkness.
A lovely and easily accessable hotel in the Alps. The breakfast is rich. The staff are helpful. Nil.
We booked the hotel because we wished to stay in a traditional mountain hotel for a good price. For 60€/night we were given a room with a balcony and a mountain view with shared fascilities and three beds+baby cot. The room itself had seen better days but it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was included and was a real delight. What we, however, enjoyed the most was the friendy, pleasant, easy-going and helpful staff at the reception. It sounds like a cliché, but we truly felt welcome. Once all the rooms have been redecorated we probably will not be able to afford to stay in this hotel anymore, but the hotel will be a treasure if they can hold on to the people working for them! Of course having your own bathroom would be preferrable to sharing one, but for this rate it was just fine.
The staff were extremely friendly and although the overall hotel is a little 'worn' it was extremely clean, comfortable and quiet. For what we required (sleeping space for hiking in the mountains) it was perfect - no frills but no fuss either.
Front desk heklpful and friendly; nice simple clean rooms Cashier had wrong buffet sign out (foreign language and we could recognise nothing on menu) and noticed mistake after we were served. She just flipped the sign and expected us to pay a price we never would have paid for the buffet. She didn't get it.
Great place - near mountains, awesome sport activities. Wonderful breakfast. About hotel everything ok, but stores in sussy do not work after 19 and on Sunday, you need to remember about it.
Very centrally situated. Good, varied and wholesome breakfast. Public areas are now completely renovated. Staff very pleasant and helpful. The room was basic with old furniture in dire need of replacement. Bathroom door was broken and lack of paint allowed woodwork to be seen. The bathroom window doors had one pane broken. Roller blinds could not be lowered. My wife cut her hand trying to open the window door to the balcony as the thin glass gave way. Because the roller blind in the bathroom could not be lowered one had to shower and use the wc without any privacy from the building opposite. The swinging door separating the lounge from the corridor leading to the bedrooms had one window pain broken. Main entrance door lacked varnish and gave a bad first impression.
It was inexpensive compared to the other hotels in Engelberg and it was right across the street from the train station. The hotel has not been maintained very well. The room smelled because the carpet and draperies were dirty and old. The furnishings were old and beat up. The hotel needs to be renovated.
Friendly & helpful staff. Breakfast is good. Right in front of train station and free coach to cable car station. The floors in our room and the corridor are rather squeaky. Hope they can do something about it.
the view out from window was magnificient bugs/insects on the wall and bedsheets
The location of the hotel was ok. The personnel was very friendly The rooms are old and depressing.
Very helpful staff. Nice cosy room. The staff accommodated our special requests related to our 1 year old and were always exceedingly helpful. We found that for dinner the restaurant was pricey (not unlike other restaurants in Engelberg). We found some less expensive options in town, but the restaurant was very convenient and the included breakfasts were wonderful and the service was excellent. Other nice things: Fresh fruit in room, new modern bathroom and shower, tasteful furnishings in room, lockable armoire and in-wall safe for valuables. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would probably stay there again if we go to Engelberg. Very minor: Tall patrons should consider the low ceilings in the restaurant section. I am just over 6 feet and could graze the ceiling if I tried. However, I didn't mind the low ceilings. They made the experience clearly authentic.
Very much client oriented. Super service and fantastic food in restaurant. Perfect location.
the food, the room, the little bar location is far from city centre
the staff was fantastic and extremely helpful.the atmosphere at the hotel was great.food was also very good. no
The hotel was in a good location and the breakfast was really nice. Beautiful room and very clean
close to large car park (10CHF for 24 hours) opposite the abbey. The hotel restaurant food was superb. The pillows let down the comfort of the room. Being a Saturday night, the disco noise could be heard till one o'clock in the morning, but with the room windows closed it was acceptable.
Very small hotel in the center of small town. It have only 6 or 8 room. We stayed in "tilts suite" everything was fine, the room was realy warm and comfortable. Free wifi. All of the rooms are no smoking. Bad for me, but good for someone who don't smoke. You need mad skills in programing to turn the TV on.
